Just started going here recently when I get out of my office late and have been pleasantly surprised. Food has been good, prices aren't that bad and I love the waitress. She is very good.

If you are looking for a good, basic breakfast or meal then you will be very satisfied. I order breakfast takeout frequently - And it has been without error so far. I usually get a large breakfast of pancakes, eggs, hash browns, toast and bacon or sausage with juice. The pancakes are very very good. Large. Fluffy. Just the right thickness. The eggs are well prepared - and not over nor under done. The bacon is always nice and crispy - never burned. If I get sausage it is browned nicely each time. I also like the way they assemble & pack the food to go here. They provide you with an extra bag loaded with jelly packets, butter, sugar for your coffee or tea, napkins, salt & pepper packets, pancake syrup, etc.... So many restaurants don’t put any effort or thought into it - but Denny’s does, and that really adds to the meal. Just because it’s takeout doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be held to a high standard! I have also tried the Cheeseburger and fries as well - including this one selection on the menu that hands down is THE BIGGEST BURGER I have ever eaten. It was colossal! And juicy. And cheesy. Just YUMMMM!!! I love their mozzarella sticks. I have never had any quite as good as these before! Most restaurants either undercook or overdo it - but Denny’s Mozzarella sticks are crunchy and gooey and golden fried to perfection. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience with takeout from here. And I usually order at least 3-4 times a month.

I have traveled most of the roads cross country for work and for pleasure..most of the time I utilize Denny's to feed me my meals because I love their menu and their prices are fair. :-) This Dennys is definitely one of the best I have ever been to and certainly the best in the state of CT. I have never had a bad experience there. Keep up the good work guys.

My husband & I enjoy Denny's. Today we went for lunch to have their $5.99 egg sampler special. A great bargain & even got 15% off using our AARP. Staff is friendly & the service was good.

Went in around 6am was busy with one waitress on, she had us seated and with coffee within a minute of walking in. The food came out of the kitchen quick and looked and tasted amazing. Feeding two people for $30 isn't that bad of a deal to me. Would recommend going if your ever in the mood for a nice dinner atmosphere.

There’s only a handful of Denny’s in the state and I am pleased that this one is the nearest to me. I enjoy going at night when it’s not as crowded. You’d think by then the employees would be tired and grumpy, but the customer service is always wonderful. The food comes out quickly and perfectly. I’ve been visiting for years and can’t remember a time I had an unpleasant moment at this location.

Came here yesterday for a birthday grand slam (sign up as a Denny’s rewards member beforehand and make sure to enter your birthday!!!) and also got a strawberry crepe, hash browns, and chocolate milk for my 3 year old. It was DELICIOUS!!!!! ;o; I was absolutely blown away by how homey this whole breakfast was. My daughter and I ate everything off our plates until nothing was left. I 11/10 recommend this location over any other breakfast diner in Middletown. If you go anywhere else, you’re missing out and wasting your $$$ !!!! ————————————————————— Went there with my 2 year old daughter the other night, and was blown away by how much this location has changed. Waitress and the staff were all super nice and welcoming!! Had crayons and drawing paper ready on deck, and I had the option of either a highchair or a booster seat! The waitress was super knowledgeable of all the questions I had (she had just walked in right after me and my daughter) and We ordered a chicken tender dinner with French fries, fruit medley, and an oreo milkshake!! the waitress was so nice and put some milkshake in a separate paper cup for my daughter, and even gave us extra milkshake from the machine!! The food came at good timing, about 15min, and my Lord, I was BLOWN away. The chicken tenders did not taste frozen or old, they were so juicy and crispy. The fruit medley was my next up favorite because it was all fresh banana, strawberry, cantaloupe, and red grapes (FRESH and better than Stop and shop). The French fries were also super delicious and crunchy, milkshake was so good, and my meal also came with garlic bread. Did I mention my daughter has very keen tastebuds, and will not eat anything not up to par? She ate everything we ordered at denny's, and I licked my plate clean!!!! Under $30, affordable, amazing, and definitely coming back every weekend with my baby girl! Dont forget to tip your waitress extra (;

A lot of times chain restaurants fall short with staff, menu, and over all appearance.....that was not the case for this Dennys. The waitress hustled and had a fantastic attitude even while slightly overwhelmed, the food was prepared exactly as shown in the menu and tasted twice as good, and what was most impressive was how clean the entire establishment was from front to back, table to bathroom. The only thing unfortunate and negative is the fact we live over an hour away and were only able to stop in because of an appt my son had at his orthodontist. But you can bet we will be stopping there as a treat each time my son needs to go back.

And how you treated pops and Vinny when they order the most boring plain pancakes!!! Telling them nothing but the classic...that was perfect too. Because they believe that they have to repeat the same experience of memories every time they go there!! Great service well kept and clean from the tables, the silverware to the bathrooms! Food also hits the spot everytime! If your expectations are a lavish highend breakfast/lunch you will be disappointed. But a solid breakfast that is fast and hits all the taste buds as far as I'm concerned!

Thank goodness for this Denny's. We had driven almost an hour to the Vet Hospital in Middletown and we were stuck waiting more than 4 hours in our car in the middle of the night. Denny's was open. Yay! Brenda was our friendly server, the food was good, and the restaurant clean. What more can you ask for? It was a needed respite at 2:30 a.m.

The food is always great and amazing service. They treat you like family! I continue to come back because they are so friendly and the food is always delicious. My personal favorite is the skillet! Yum!

Our favorite restaurant. We drive 45 minutes to visit this restaurant because we receive a warm, friendly greeting the minute you enter. Wait staff is super friendly and always gets our order perfect, the cook is magnificent and cooks our food to perfection, lots of menu options, very affordable with good size portions. Even when they seem short staffed, they aren't just dropping food and running off...coffee is refilled and we are asked if we need anything else ?? We are sad Denny's in New London closed, but are happy to enjoy this restaurant and the people who are here

Absolutely Love Denny's in Middletown. I am a DoorDash Delivery Driver and every time I walk in there the staff is extremely professional and friendly and I personally love ordering from their Ghost Kitchens Burger Den and The Meltdown. Giddy up Melt if my Favorite as well as the Hot Mess Melt. Highly recommend everyone to stop by and enjoy the atmosphere and the friendly service and great food

I was extremely impressed with the staff and quality of food at Denny's Middletown. Our waiter was excellent, very polite, great memory, wish I got his name so I could give him a specific shout out but it was a young man who just graduated from high school and was super polite and helpful. Denny's hash browns are the best. My omelette was yummy too. Coffee was surprisingly delicious. I am very picky and was not expecting to like the coffee but it was great. No complaints at all!

I have had delivery from this Denny’s so many times over the past 5 years that I have literally lost count! The food is always fresh. Consistent. Your basic American grub. But they do put effort into it. And it is tasty. Well prepared. The take out is always well packed. Plenty of condiments. Etc. My only complaint is that they need to put the ‘hot’ coffee (it’s in to go paper cups) in some kind of holder. But that’s it. The breakfasts are always a good choice. And the burgers too. The wavy fries are crispy. Yummy.

After 11pm post COVID-19 most places to eat are closed or changed their business model. If open, the late night menu is limited or the food quality and consistency is limited. But, Denny's did the opposite. Denny's increased their food option quality despite closing at 2:45am on any day. The updated menu has substitution features that are definitely delicious game changers. Substitute a veggie burger that's made with the same mouth watering taste as any regular burger. And the dessert on the menu is a perfect finish for your meal. This is the new after hours go to place for good food!

The food is good and priced reasonable. I been here a few times and the staff is friendly. My favorite host is Romany, he is the best. Didn't give it 5 starts because the bathrooms can use some work, other than that is pretty good.

The food was the quality I'd expect for a Dennys and wasn't really spectacular, but the wait staff, while seemingly limited in number, were always kind and welcoming as well as accommodating to my grandparents and myself. It was a great experience to share and they love the country fried steak.

The food is generally well.. unfortunately cannot say the same for the waitresses and waiters they have.. Sometime they are really nice and sometimes they are like a joke.. whoever is running this place must pay attention to such unbalance among the servants.. Rating with three stars only because my last experience was nice with our server.. Otherwise I had stopped coming to this place because if several previous experiences..

Food was great although was a B'day reward, so it wasn't a charge, but counter person wasn't good at multi tasking and was getting upset handling phones, orders and answering my questions, also it's a shame no one knew anything about their rewards program, I had to call corporate😕

Service was slow but understandably as they are severely short staff. Staff and managers appear to work well together and manager was helping by carrying the staff load by seating and getting customers setup with drinks. Server was nice, but flustered and overwhelmed and it showed. The food arrived cold and while edible not satisfying. Bench seats were ripped and not even taped to hide overuse. I give 4 stars for staff effort and commitment to customer service.

Other than everything i touched was sticky food was good. We ordered the special advertised that month.

Don't look online for the menu before going. It shows TONS of yummy looking dishes (like the cheesy tater tots 🥺) this location doesn't have, BUT they're very willing to make adjustments to the dishes they have to make you what you want and they do a great job at it! And an extra FYI- if you go here when it's warm, DON'T PARK NEAR THE BUSHES/TREES! We came out after dinner and there were literally dozens of tiny flies all over the car.... Most of which hung on for dear life until we got to Route 9! It was good after-dinner entertainment betting which flies would hang on the longest 😂!

I like their special pancakes. The cinnamon roll and pumpkin pancakes very gòod even without the syrup. They are nice and fluffy. I love the buttercream topping. The service was friendly. There was a problem with the POS system taking my payment. They kept apologizing, it wasn't their fault. I'm patient.

To be honest, I forget that Denny's still exists. But this was actually a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious! It even rivaled IHOP. Plus, our waitress was super friendly and personal. The place is a little run down, but no unpleasant enough to overlook it and enjoy your meal.

The restaurant was good, Service was great, Billing SUCKS. way too expensive for just breakfast. I mean $3.50 for a cup of coffee !?!? Seriously!

Food was good. Staff are excellent. What is going on with the property? The bathroom smelled at mold, the ceiling panels were hanging and there were missing ceiling panels in the main dining area, covered with cardboard boxes?

Went for lunch and we were a party of four. Three of the four orders were good. The fourth was steak that was ordered medium. Steak was way overcooked to the point it was beyond well done. The waitress was very apologetic and during checkout she removed the steak from the check. Beside the steak the food was good and would have earned 4 stars. The waitress gets 5 stars.

Service is spotty. The staff are all very nice but not the most organized. The food is passable; it's Denny's. Several of the booths have Duct tape on ripped seats and there are some leaks in the ceiling. The ladies room was very clean.

This seems to be one of my mom's favorite spots. I meet her here weekly. It's remarkably clean and the employees and owner are very friendly and professional. (If) so much is if you wish to return a dish for further cooking or to meet your expectations they are more than willing to ensure your dinning needs are met. Good size servings. Deserts are fresh coffee hot and well worth the stop.

2/2/16 - Denny's is not the new Howard Johnson's but they're acceptable. The parking was good, the place was clean, the staff was quick and efficient though a little disinterested at times. I found their menu difficult to manage and I found, after ordering, that I had missed a whole section (pages seemed to be stuck together). My wife's Senior Club Sandwich was "OK" as was my Seniors Grilled Chicken dinner.My problems? The soup "saltine" crackers were stale and the onion rings much too crispy for me. The prices were reasonable. I might go to a Denny's again to try something different.

Foods ok.... It's Denny's. Waitress was awful. I'm a restaurant manager and I never had someone mess up whole order, forget us Several times. Ordered 2 drinks got 1. Never checked on us. The man waiter and busboy at least check

It's a Denny's you get a good plate but the booths need to be fixed there are holes in the seats in multiple booths I am sure you can ask to not be seated in holey booth

If you like salt then get thier buffalo chicken wings. They were extra cooked and made so salty. Best part was the fries and salad. Staff was nice place was empty. Lots of parking.

Although our waitress was nice and friendly, the overall experience was poor. There was another Denny's worker in the back corner of the restaurant, what seemed to look like, selling merchandise out of a trash bag to other employees and when asked by another coworker if she was working she replied with, "i am but i am also working on my side business." Our silverware was dirty, the table wasn't wiped well enough, food was just okay nothing write home about. My husband and I were not impressed at all.

I went Years ago for a breakfast in Florida and it was disappointed, we gave it another try for a lunch but nothing has changed even in other state, the food is barely ok and we spend the same money than in other stake restaurants with better ratings. The food is mostly bland, plain and greasy. We ordered cheeseburgers for kids and they gave it to us with whole grain bread without let us know beforehand that the went out of the regular one, they made us wait a lot to tell us that the didn't have more. Last time we went there, we officially quit Denny's. Please consider another place, don't let you fool with the one mark of $, you are gonna spend almost the same than better restaurant but with poor quality food, is not worthy.

Cool atmosphere, haven't been to a diner in a while. Our waitress was extremely nice and had great service. But the food was absolutely horrible. The bacon was precooked. Sausages frozen I'm assuming. My scrambled eggs and french toast were okay. Safe to say I won't ever go back. Felt like a waste of money. But had a nice time sitting with my family.

I usually don’t do this but there are times that things need to be reported for the business to improve and customers to be aware. The staff were friendly which is nice. But everything else law is sub par at best. First and foremost, the establishment was FREEZING. No heat at all. Using the bathroom was like going into a market freezer. This could be overlooked if we didn’t have to wait more than 40 minutes for our food (not many customers today). The pancakes were undercooked. Food froze up quick because of the restaurant conditions. Pretty unfortunate. Hope the improve.

Let me start off by saying the service(the waitress) was great, reasonable and understanding, The food however was awful, the hash browns were undercooked, the chicken noodle soup was burnt(which to be fair they did comp), turkey gravy on the turkey special tasted like beef gravy even though they claimed they didn’t even have beef gravy in the restaurant, the turkey meat was dry and tasted like dark meat, and the coffee was mediocre, Manager on shift who we spoke with didn’t seem to care whatsoever Me and my family will not be coming back, and I advise you not to either, at least until quality gets better

This Denny's is very clean, SUPER clean. The waitstaff are all very friendly. However, there were only 2 waitresses on for both dining rooms. When we ordered, the waitress brought our meals out individually and not all together, leaving roughly 5 minutes between when our party of 3 were served. When the meals arrived the portions were so minuscule that we actually thought we had ordered from the kids menu at first. The flavor was okish... what you would expect from a low scale chain. When the check came, we were shocked to see that it cost $50 for our 3 sandwiches and 3 sodas. Never again. The photo is the buttermilk chicken sandwich with tater tots. That's what you get for $13.50.

Me and my wife have been going every Saturday for awhile . This was the first time we had a bad experience are waitress gave are food to another table. And apologized to that table and said nothing to us. Crystal still not saying any thing to us I decided to leave since we just had water I left a dollar tip and started to leave.Crystal finally came over and said sorry we could not wait I think after waiting a hour for eggs is long enough. Service sucked, workers all over the place, gave the people next to us wrong order after few minutes came back took the food and put it on another table. I have been a customer at Denny’s for years now and up until the last few times of going have had a wonderful experience every time. The last three times my girlfriend and I have gone we’ve had a waitress named Lessette R and she has been rude. This past time we just left she was rude condescending and outright mean during our visit. I’m not one to write bad reviews but I just couldn’t let this pass unnoticed. This woman has zero customer service and barely checks on her tables. She argued with me on my check when she added a $16 Tbone dinner that we did not have. Every other waitress we’ve ever had has always been wonderful and made our time very enjoyable. I love Denny’s and will continue to go I will just request a different server from this point forward and hope that this thread is seen by her superiors.

Service is disappointing. Servers were arguing and fighting over who gets to wait on me. After they more or less agreed, my server disappeared, and nobody else would help me. No refills on water and over 10 min to get my bill. Considered ditching because nobody would help and it was taking too long. Food was alright and came out quick and hot.

I have been waiting 45 minutes for my food and drinks on nye. I understand it is nye and it is busy but they have not even given us drinks. i asked a bigger lady with green pants and she gave me extreme sass when all i wanted was some apple juice.

After enjoying a fabulous breakfast at a Denny's in Las Vegas for my very first time ever in February, I couldn't wait to find a local one near me in Connecticut. The restaurant was very clean, and the waitress was awesome. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE! We ended up leaving 3/4 of our food at the table. There was an odd aftertaste to the food. We couldn't endure trying to finish our breakfast. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this particular location in Middletown. Very clean establishment, and the waitress was awesome, but we left hungry and headed straight to Dunkin Donuts for coffee and a sandwich.

Terrible I had the Belgian waffle the texture was gritty and heavy tasted like cardboard, when I told the waitress how terrible it was she didn't even offer something to take its place or take it off the bill she just said that's the new batter and walked away. So the food and service was terrible.

Middletown, Ct location I’ve been going here for over 20 years and usually receive decent service but today was the absolute worse service I had since going there!! When we were first being seated I noticed a few of the tables weren’t even properly cleaned. They still had pieces of food on them and they were set for someone to sit at them. At least one of the other waitresses wasn’t any better!! I went up to the counter to ask for a second container because my waitress was at another table and she just looked at me like I was crazy and like I was bothering her for asking her even though she wasn’t doing anything besides standing there. She didn’t even hand me one but my waitress was just getting back to the counter and overheard me asking for one and did give it to me. My son and I were only asked one time at the very beginning of meal how everything was but that was the only time!! Most waitresses come up to the table at least a couple of times!! There was hardly anyone there except for a few tables with a few people at each but our waitress had only one other table to take care of so there was no reason for her not coming to check to make sure we didn’t need anything. I did still leave a tip but due to the service it’s not the normal amount I leave especially since I know they don’t make very much an hour!! I won’t say I’ll never go again because I definitely will be but hopefully the service better next time!!

I'm sadden about the experience I encountered today because they had always been the only Denny's with the best customer service with great quality food BUT not this time around. They made a mistake and did not add any bananas on two of my chocoana pancakes which was the only reason we chose this flavor because of the bananas! I called and the young girl said she is sorry and crickets. She turned the tables around and made a belittled remark which was extremely offensive.

Not sure why but the cooks didn't have any protective gear on and they kept touching their faces and body then would touch the food.

Jymie was the worst server ever she spilled my drink on me and the table and had an attitude the whole time. I’m bummed out that I didn’t get Katie last time I had her she was amazing service was top tier and she was great at conversing with. Won’t be coming back until Jymie is gone point blank period!!!!

I went there twice. I was very disappointed. The place is just dirty. The blinds are full of dust. We had to exchange silverware twice. The tea came with stuff floating in it and the water was not hot. We waited over 20 minutes for our food to arrive and it was cold. The eggs had congealed. The manager stood around doing nothing the entire time. I think I know why there were so few people there. The entire place and staff just seemed worn out, tired and uninspired. Very sad.

Food took to long to come and then when the food came it was wrong address it to the manager and he was rude yelling throwing plates saying we had done that the second time i yell back too!!! Will never eat there AGAIN!!!!!

Went today with 3 other people, our entire order had to be sent back because it was cold. and then the waitress asked us do you mind if I just put it in the microwave. The restaurant was very cold inside. Definitely will not be coming back to this restaurant or recommending it.

I gave this place a second chance because it’s close by, but never again. The server- Gillian- decided to parent my child — telling my nearly 4-year-old he was “going to break his teeth” while I was sitting right next to him. Completely inappropriate and out of line. When I told her not to parent my child, she came back with a so-called apology that was really just her justifying herself, saying it was “her job to keep the restaurant safe.” No, your job is to serve customers respectfully — not lecture parents in front of their kids. The restaurant is kept superficially clean (a young staff member is constantly wiping tables), but the booths are literally patched with duct tape. Not a family-friendly atmosphere, and certainly not worth the location convenience

Dennys has great food options. The only thing that's negative is the poor universal precautions and staff work hygiene. There's no hand washing, hair nets, and / or gloves being used by staff on duty in the kitchen and floor. I arrived this morning at this specific location, I sat for a few minutes before placing my order just to observe. I noticed the cook scatching his scalp by the grill with no gloves on, Disgusting. The server had dreadlocks swinging all over the place, no hair net. No hand washing before or after handling cash payments. DENNY NEEDS AN EMPLOYEE TRAINING ASAP OR ITS GOING TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS.

How do I even start this...? I'm pretty sure they changed the owners here because the service was so bad! I've always gone to this Denny's when I was younger, and I've never had such a horrible experience. To start, the workers in the kitchen weren't wearing any hairnets, not to mention none of the staff were even wearing uniforms. We found multiple hairs in a burger. Our strawberry pancake puppies were BURNT and not just crispy, and when we complained about it, our waitress said "They're meant to be like that". The waiters constantly forgot about our orders and were very rude and didn't put any effort into their jobs. They also were high and reeked of marijuana, the bathrooms smelled even stronger. There was more cheese than the macaroni itself. When we ordered two milkshakes with extra cups on the side, we received two MILK SHAKERS, but at least the milkshakes were good. The funniest thing about last night was when my friend asked if there was any cross-contamination for their gluten-free items, they said their gluten-free items did have cross-contamination! DON'T COME HERE IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY! I came here for my birthday and my family asked the staff to surprise me with some sort of ice cream or song and they didn't do anything. Our food took WAY TOO LONG for only having two other small tables and the puppies (starters) came AFTER our main meals came out. Will not be going back.

The waitress was very nice and accommodating. The manager Ned who came in about ten minutes into our meal was so rude to the workers yelling at them and slamming the silverware onto the tables. He's rude and unprofessional and should not be running a Denny's. If he was my manager I would walk out and quit on the spot.
