We stopped in Ford News Diner for lunch. We arrived at about 12:15 in the afternoon and were able to get a table. They offer a good selection of food options. We had breakfast sandwiches so breakfast options are available even at lunch time. The waiter came over pretty quickly and took our drink order. When the drinks arrived we placed our food order. The food came pretty quickly and was quite good and the price was very reasonable. It’s a pretty small place so it’s easy to walk past if you’re not looking for it.
A classic diner atmosphere, and a perfect little place to grab breakfast. A hidden gem, great food, and friendly owners/staff. Highly recommended!
Stopped into Ford News Diner while in town for a hockey tournament and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Classic diner vibe, no frills, just really solid food and genuinely nice staff who made us feel welcome right away. The standout for me was the homemade hash — easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, great flavor, and clearly made with care. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and everything came out hot and fresh. If you’re looking for a true old-school diner with good people and great food, this place absolutely delivers. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Middletown, CT
This is the kind of diner that feels like stepping back in time to vintage NYC. Its adorable and the service is personable with kind and funny staff who will joke with you. Also the food is amazing! Its a small menu with simple, focused diner food options and its all executed perfectly! The breakfast sandwich on a roll is my recommendation!
Delicious, quick, amazing service, great prices and incredibly nice owners.
Always love eating breakfast here. Especially like the home made corned beef hash.
The food is amazing. I love to go go to a place and feel like im hanging with my friends. The staff is super cool and you leave with a full belly.
My wife and I go to Fords for our breakfast diner dates. We enjoyed their food!
My wife and my mother in law walked into this dinner for the first time and we're greeted us with a warm welcoming. I asked for what's the best here and the man said cereal and water, so the humor was awesome. That was the first 5 minutes there and we all ordered something different and all 3 were awesome, I had the chicken stir fry, Sue had the pastrami rueben and my mother in law had a steak and cheese with mushrooms, peppers and onions. I had to try there's because they keep saying how great it was. So im not a writer but I thought they deserved this after around 1 hour of the staff making us laugh and having a perfect lunch. Thank you guys again, Steve and Sue Lepack.
Been going on and off for 20 years when I started at middlesex community. Owner is a sweet heart and staff has always been friendly even when I brought my children.
I haven't been here in maybe 20 years, I like the look. Great service! The atmosphere was that of a hometown diner, of course. I had the unique and very tasty shredded homemade corned beef hash with eggs, home fries and toast, combo priced right, and Frank's Red Hot available. Everyone seemed happy and made the experience even better. A vintage diner that has been part of Middletown for over 60 years. Main Street Middletown has many outstanding restaurants, none better then the Ford News, everyone needs to try this place.
Cool little diner. Staff was very friendly and the food came out super fast. It was fresh and hot and cooked right in front of my face. It felt like eating a home cooked breakfast and the prices are beyond fair. This place was great. Make sure you try the home fries they are great, cooked with peppers and onions. There was even an old man in there sleeping at his table with a news paper which gave it the home town diner feel that I love so much ! Great little spot loved everything about it !!
Great place way better then rise and shine cafe go here
We visited this diner during a family trip to Middletown based on its 4.7 Google rating, but it was definitely a letdown. From the minute you walk in you notice cramped and uncomfortable, the space is. Because of how narrow it is there's barely room to move between tables & the counter when the seats are occupied. Alot of excuse me's were heard. While the owner was friendly and clearly a local favorite, the food didn’t deliver. Ordered the steak & eggs and it came small, overcooked and underwhelming, the coffee tasted like gas station brew, and drinks were served in cheap plastic cups. Yes those disposable red ones(see pic) My wife’s meal was just as forgettable, and only the French fries for our daughter were decent. Not sure how this place earned such high reviews — we wouldn’t recommend it.
Local dive occupied by unfriendly patrons. Bar seats are hard and uncomfortable set in what feels like a railroad car. Most tables are for two. We left without ordering, after unwelcome service.
Worst mistake ever was going to Ford News! I even felt like Google reviews are never to be trusted! We did go in the peak hours on a Sunday, but they got our order wrong with burnt chocolate chip pancakes and potatoes! They even brought someone else’s order on to our table and took it away when they realized it wasn’t ours! Not even a refill of coffee was offered! Such a disappointment, when looking at Google reviews!!!
