Visiting this place after 16 years and such a transformation. We visited in February when they had a speak easy theme decor. Just beautiful I wish they do that all the time. The food is delicious we tried the tuna nachos, calamari and buratta all made to perfection. The bartender was very nice and friendly. Overall great experience can't wait to be back
Another great experience at Tate's! Great food and lovely ambience. Really enjoyed this clever short term theme they had going on today!
Went the tonight and reserved an igloo on the patio. Was super cold but absolutely not their fault. I highly recommend the igloo just wait until temps are about 35 degrees or higher. Lol. Service was amazing... Food was a definite 10/10... So good... Definitely will return. If you're thinking about going don't think just do it... You won't be disappointed.
We rented an igloo at sunset and it didn’t disappoint! We ate food off the new Mafia menu and had the mozzerella madness sandwich and the Italian schnitzel sandwich. Both were out of this world! Our kiddos ate their entire burger off the kids menu! Alex was hands down the most amazing sever we have ever had! So attentive and charismatic! We will be returning soon!
We had dinner here and everything was great. Our server Alex was excellent. Attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. Our food came out promptly and was delicious. Overall a wonderful dining experience, beautiful atmosphere and tasty drinks. we’ll definitely be back. Thanks again Alex for serving us dispute the weather!
Visited Tate’s a week ago with some family, and I was genuinely impressed with the food, drinks, and overall atmosphere. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and they had just opened their heated outdoor dome, which added a fun seasonal touch. We started with the buffalo chicken egg rolls, which were absolutely to die for—rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. For our entrées, we tried the Smash Burger and the Hail Caesar Pita, both of which were delicious and full of flavor. The signature drinks were also spot on and very tasty. I’d definitely recommend Tate’s to anyone looking for great food, great drinks, and an all‑around amazing time.
We had a fantastic experience at Tate’s from start to finish. We were greeted by the hostess when we walked in who was so welcoming and helpful asking us our seating preference which is quite rare these days! Our server was outstanding. Alex was attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm. He had a great sense of timing, knowing exactly when to stop by to check on us and when to give us space, which made the evening feel relaxed and enjoyable. His recommendations were spot on, especially the limoncello cheesecake, which ended up being the perfect finish to the meal. The food itself was incredible. The tuna nachos were impressive, so fresh and flavored perfectly. The lobster grilled cheese was delicious. Just perfect. The lobster was so fresh like it was summertime in RI. The cocktails were mixed perfectly They were beautifully balanced and crafted, each one showing real attention to detail. The atmosphere added to the experience as well, with a cozy coastal vibe that made us feel like we were dining right on the shore. The live music was a nice touch! Overall, an exceptional meal and cocktails with excellent service that really made our dinner perfect! Thank you Alex! We’ll definitely be back!
We were married at Tate’s, and would recommend their event space to anyone. The view of Connecticut River is beautiful! They really strive to give you a complete experience. Though we hired an outside decor and floral vendor (Petals & Plates, Southington CT), Tate’s even has decor items to rent so that you can truly take the worry out of your big day. Tate’s event coordinator was wonderful to work with, and they have a variety of packages for any budget. They even matched menus to our own signage for a seamless look. We were able to hold an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour which transitioned into an indoor reception. Dinner and dessert were fantastic, with Tate’s making both our cutting cake and the donut wall all our guests are still talking about. Vegan and vegetarian options are available! Overall we had a perfect, stress-free day with Tate’s staff at the helm. We love what the LaMonicas have done to rehabilitate this lovely space!
I absolutely LOVE Tates! We have been over 15 times and it never disappoints! The food is delicious and the cocktails are divine! We are usually in a large group and the service is always spot on. The servers are calm and easy going while being very attentive. The brunch is spectacular, too! I highly recommend Tate's for any occasion...cocktails on the water, Sunday brunch or group gathering. They are the BEST!!
Ate outside. Tables spaced well; didn’t feel squeezed in. Neat and clean. Food was GREAT. I had the Peach & Whipped Feta app. Surprisingly sweet but not in a bad way. The ‘dip’ was delicious with every selection on the plate. Never tasted that flavor combination before, so glad I tried it. (See pic,) Also had the Burrata salad with chicken. Swapped out the green goddess dressing for the agave lime. Very good. Chicken was perfectly cooked. Portions of both were such that I couldn’t finish either-which is great because I get to taste both all over again! Waitress was attentive, friendly, fast on taking care of requests and not at all intrusive. This is so much of an improvement over the previous restaurant that you can’t even compare them. WILL go again! Try it!
Visted here for lunch Tuesday afternoon with mom and it was a wonderful experience overall. My mother appreciated the wide variety of gluten free items and items that could be modified. I enjoyed the smashburger and it was very good! Plus side was having nice weather this day to sit outside and enjoy the views of the water and Arrigoni Bridge. Did not get dessert this time around but will be returning back for more items!
Been here twice so far and both times were a good experience! The outdoor seating is mostly in the shade which is very nice even when it's hot. This place can get very busy and I can see why. The food is very flavorful! The chef does excellent work. We got there around 5-530 and we had a short wait, but on the weekend day, a lot of people came behind us. Indoor seating is always available but there is usually a wait for the outdoor seating. The views and atmosphere is fantastic so I can see why it is so popular. Sometimes the service seemed slow but we didn't mind at all, we loved sitting out there and it was very busy. Despite how busy they were, our servers were always friendly and attentive to our food and drinks. The place is on the pricey side but it's a very nice occasion place or to take visiting friends or family out.
Hey, it's your girl!!!! It was 84° today, and I decided to take my mom n son to Tate's. It was really good. The view was awesome. Nice cool breeze by the water. Not too crowded, seated on the patio. The server was friendly and attentive. The purple 🍹 is Rafiki's Tiki (mocktail version) soooooo good. We also had fish n chips, buffalo chicken egg rolls, kids burger n fries, and tinga chicken tacos (not a fan of that). Overall, I'm coming back with somebody's son, lol. Until next time!!!😘 **Update: I didn't eat much of the tacos. I only took one bite, and the manager took the tacos off my bill. Yall are dope, ty.** 😃 Happy Customer
I visited this restaurant last week and had an incredible experience. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the view😍 I originally wanted to sit outside, but there was a 30 mins wait, so I ended up at a high-top table inside, which was still nice and comfortable. I ordered the lime pasta, chicken tacos, and the seafood basket which included fried scallops and white fish. Everything was cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy and seasoned just right, and the coleslaw and tartar sauce were next level— so fresh!! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great food and a relaxing vibe.🌸
A fun venue on the water with great food! We got the fried green tomatoes, sweet & spicy plumaki bowl, and lemon ricotta rigatoni (added chicken). Everything was delicious, drinks included. We went on a Friday night without a reservation, and were sat within 5 minutes of arriving. We sat inside, but there was live music outside and we walked around a little by the water after dinner. Highly recommend!
We rented their event space for my baby shower. The space was beautiful, open, and well decorated, overlooking the CT river. Briana was so responsive with planning everything and answering questions or making changes. The day went so smoothly thanks to her and the other staff. We got the brunch package and the food was delicious, the parfait bar and cupcakes were a hit with all the guests.
We celebrated my birthday in the heated outdoor igloo! We had a round of drinks and 2 appetizers. The teriyaki fried cauliflower was amazing and the ricotta dip with honey and bread was excellent! The atmosphere of the igloo was cozy with couches, blankets, fluffy pillows and 2 space heaters !! The waitress was very kind, upbeat, and asked if I wanted to be sung happy birthday! One of the male mangers came in and sang a beautiful version of happy birthday! That was a nice touch and very well done! We will be back for mob month in the month of Feb. !!! Thanks so much!
My friends birthday dinner was great. Fresh seafood, tasty apps & fabulous cocktails. The icy elixir is surprisingly good!! Food & drink service was good & quick, but the greeter/seater needs a vacation or something.
A really fun lunch out on the water. We sat outside and had some really fun and tasty dishes. The steamers were great and a real treat, they aren’t on many menus in CT! The kimchi fries were really flavorful and a great dish to share. The tuna nachos were delicious too. Fun place for a group! The ice cream window was a great after dinner stop
Today I visited the Ice Cream window. Sat outside on a park bench and watched the river, large white "Harrons" walking the "surf" line on the other side of the river, some other large birds swimming and diving in the middle. Oh yeah, the ice cream was good, a fun little treat. Obviously you don't come to a place like this for value in your purchase. Large cup (coffee) 3 scoops, $8.05, change went in the tip cup for a $10 cup of ice cream.(waffle cone 2 scoops, same price) It's later on a Sunday afternoon, so there wasn't any waiting
While waiting for our table, the phone rang at the hostess kiosk, and the hostess watched the phone as it rang approximately 5 times before she picked it up, which was very very strange to me. Our food was good, but we were upset to find out that we couldn't order off the regular menu until after 3 PM. It was 2:30 when we got there and we were hungry so we settled for the brunch menu. We each got a lobster roll, and it was great! Unfortunately our server was less than attentive and didn't check on us at all, which is rather unusual in my experience. I was also sat under an air conditioning vent so I was very very cold for the duration of my meal. For the price we paid, I'd expect better service if I'm being honest.
There is a slight odor when you first walk in, through the hidden door.I thought it was the smell of mold. We sat at the bar, as we usually do, but the bar stools were awkward to sit in. The bartender was nice, but the drink menu was odd. The ricotta appetizer was excellent. Her rib main course was below average. My “Sunday Dinner” main course was awful. The pasta was over cooked mush. The sauce was rancid and had “turned”. Neither one of us completed our meal. We were surprised that when they cleared the table, nothing was said when the meals were not eaten. In the absence of quality, value matters. There was no quality or value. We won’t be back.
We hosted our baby shower here in October. Aside from the location being solid and the views of the river being nice and the venue itself being charming, the service left us with a sour taste in our mouths. We worked with the "event designer" the business has on staff, and she was much less helpful than we expected: She did not communicate clearly through the planning process, did not fully know the event menu, had to be asked several times to help us with dietary restrictions and then, day-of, did not handle things until we asked, like playing music. The day of our party, there were a handful of issues that should have been handled or fixed but were not: * We had chosen a nonalcoholic punch bowl, but it was made with alcohol. When we asked about this, they refused to remake it. The bartender did her best to accommodate our guests, but it caused issues with the rest of her setup. It was not her fault. * We specified that we would need a microphone and they said they had one, but when we started using it, the machine kept giving us a “charge the device” message. It finally died halfway through us using it, making us look like idiots. * There was no proactive communication when the food was ready. On top of that, we picked a yogurt parfait bar that was supposed to be set up as guests arrived. It was not ready, and it was just big bowls of yogurt with sides instead of ready-made dishes like we were told. * It was a cold, rainy day and the coffee ran out. The guests had to inform the staff of this issue. * Multiple staff members were rude to guests, even my wife, the pregnant woman at the center of the party. * When planning the party, we were told we could bring outside dessert, but right before the event was to take place, we were told there would be a plating fee and that if we were ordering cupcakes from NoRA (which we did), they could not let them deliver because they are direct competition. It felt like we were put in the middle of a family feud. Last but not least, there was just a general lack of professionalism all the way around: * The planner's phone did not work most of the time we needed to be in contact with her. * She took many days to reply to emails. * Most of the communication was impersonal and automated, even the day before and in a follow-up email asking for a positive review. This is my honest review. For a small business that is trying to make a name for itself in the event scene, we were disappointed. Especially since we were charged about $5,000 for a 60-person brunch baby shower. We expected so much more.
We visited Tate’s twice—first on Friday, October 4th, just before sunset. It was our first time, and we had such a lovely evening as a family. I’ve included some photos from both visits so you can see how much we were enjoying ourselves. The waterfront setting was beautiful, especially with the view of the bridge. I loved the red sangria, the food was okay overall, and my daughter had fun with her burger and ice cream. The following Friday, we decided to go back. The weather was cooler but still nice. I ordered the shrimp plate with white sangria, and my husband was happy with his salad. My daughter got another burger and ice cream—she’s only 3 and absolutely obsessed with ice cream. Unfortunately, something truly upsetting happened this time. I went to take just one spoonful of her ice cream and felt something disgusting in my mouth. When I looked, it was what appeared to be someone’s chewed fingernail. I was completely shocked and sickened. We didn’t say anything to the staff at the moment and just quietly left, but it left me very disappointed and honestly still upset. We really wanted to like this place—our photos show how much we were starting to make it a little tradition—but after what happened, we haven’t been able to go back. I hope the restaurant takes this kind of thing seriously. Food hygiene should never be overlooked
