We visited here with new friends prior to their wedding day. Originally, we were supposed to meet at another restaurant, but that place couldn’t accommodate our reservation. I’m so glad we went here instead! The atmosphere, service, and food were worthy of 10 stars! We were greeted instantly, served quickly, and met with appreciation of our patronage to their restaurant. I’d definitely visit here again if in the area.
Lovely experience, waitress was very kind. Drinks were really good and cheap too. Sushi and sashimi combo was great as well
Very cool spot, artistic decor. Nice wait staff. I recommend sticking with basic sushi here, which was fresh and tasty. The calamari was rubbery and not cut into bite sized rings, was in big tough chunks. The steak teriyaki was probably pork, and was a bit tough. Tasty sauce though, and nicely steamed vegetables. The weirdest thing was that they played the same 2 songs over... And over... And over ....
Atmosphere is awesome! The only problem was a basementy smell (it want that bad) and the choice of music was subpar according to me and the 2 other people I brought. Food was great.
Kind of a backwards place for me— atmosphere is the best out of all sushi spots in the area. The sushi was just okay to me— all their special rolls seem so similar with multiple types of fish, wasn’t what I was looking for. The spicy edamame, sashimi and seaweed salad were the highlights for me. I would come back but not for specialty rolls… hope this helps!
Great menu with lots of different sushi options and dinners. Me and my sister got the ‘peach sunrise’ frozen drink and it faintly reminded me of the taste of beer but in a good way, and it came with this little strawberry sticks in the whipped cream. I got the Chicken Pad Thai which had some egg and peanuts in the noodles. We had a pleasant server and the food came out fast. A little bit more on the expensive side though.
Stylish place located in a fashionable basement. Not purist since their menu includes some Chinese dishes (like lo mein), but they can't mix a proper Irish coffee on a bleak day, which lets you know that they are beholden to their cuisine. Friendly waitstaff, not Englishly challenged. Parking is public and usually plentiful. Prices fair and the food is delicious.
The decorations and atmosphere were wonderful! The food was very average, I got the hibachi steak, it was poorly seasoned and the portion, smaller than other places. The prices were slightly higher than similar places, I likely wouldn’t go back in the future, the decorations were very nice and the service, satisfactory but you go to a restaurant to eat.
Trash! I got the Hibachi Chicken and the chicken was drenched in butter, the rice also very buttery. The veggies were good. The Udon soup was also very oily and the fried shrimp came out on a little doily that was drenched in oil. The one person that sat us and took our order was really nice but then the others only came back to take dishes and when they brought the food they just basically dropped it and walked away. Never came back to ask if we needed anything or more beverages.
TERRIBLE customer service. The person taking my order practically hung up on me mid sentence, and of course they got it wrong. I got 3 orders of maki and they only gave me enough ginger for one order. The food is very average nothing special at all. The only reason I came was because Hachi is closed today; but Hachi is really the only good sushi place in town. Judging from the last few reviews this place needs to get it together fast.
Been coming for 20 years... Its been a couple...the clasic dressing has changed... One of the rolls tasted stale and one tasted like flowers... It was really unfortunate i was looking forward to being in the area to pick some up... It was a miss this time :(
This was rough. It’s was our one day off and I’m the one who pushed for this place. We asked for extra sauce, didn’t get it. & the steak and chicken were so overcooked it was hard to chew. My fiancé & I were so disappointed we could barely eat what we ordered. I instantly have such a bad stomachache. Our dinner at home was ruined. This will be the last time we order here.
Mikado used to be great years ago but our recent few visits we’ve noticed the quality of food and service going down. This past visit with our two children has pretty much put the nail in the coffin that we will not be returning, especially when great sushi places like Niuda are so close by. Our waitress stopped by our table a total of zero times during our meal, she passed by us many times but never asked if we needed drink refills or if the food was okay, she only stopped once we were clearly done eating. We ordered plain yakisoba for the kids and it came out packed with cabbage so the kids hardly ate any. The waitress also seemed very confused and put off that we asked if it was possible to order a small thing of chicken katsu. My chicken dish was advertised to come with vegetables but came out with two pieces of barely cooked broccoli, one slice of carrot, and a bunch of uncooked onion and bell peppers. Not sure what happened to this place but it’s super disappointing.
Awesome atmosphere. Friendly staff but the food was not good. The shrimp shumai is pre-made frozen. The gyoza was ok probably frozen as well. The pinaple fried was bland and flavorless. The sushi was terrible. Fell apart when I tried to eat it. The crab in the spider roll was burnt. The water front roll was just gross and the Japanese fried rice is the same as the pinaple just with out pinapl. No flavor no seasoning. It's not even fried!!!! Don't waste your time or money.
