Beautifully quiet small place. Comfortable light music. Delicious birria tacos & Tamarindo aqua fresca

My family decided to check out this new place on a quiet rainy Saturday night. There was no one inside and we saw a few people pick up orders to go while we were there. There's a handful of tables with low back seats and a few counters with stools. We tried an assortment of various items, including guacamole, flautas, multiple tacos and maracuya agua fresca, as well as a weekend only birria. The food was fantastic, about as authentic as you can get in CT. This isn't a buttermilk fried chicken taco or crunchwrap type of place. You're coming here because you miss real Mexican food. Look at the restaurant name. It's a clean, no frills, straight forward place. The suadero and birria were standouts for me, along with perfect salsas on the side. I'll be back for pick up orders, unless they can entice me with some corona and Liga MX playing on the walls.

I cannot say enough about this place! The owner/chef is one of the nicest people to talk to! And he is so unbelievably humble. His front cashiers are always so attentive and thoughtful. And somehow his food that was already 10/10 keeps getting better?!?! I am so that we have this in Middletown! Best tacos (and Esquite) EVER!!!!

I love to stop by for a quick taquito any day of the week, salsas are my favorite, they have great variety in meat options, and they make their own tortillas! I had the lengua taco, muy rico sabrosito

Hands down some of the best if not the best carnitas tacos I’ve ever had! Everything is so fresh and flavorful, staff is super kind and friendly. Cute dining room with great music. 10/10 can’t wait for my next meal here!

I got the pastor quesadilla and it was so good! The meat was so tasty and it was on a griddled corn tortilla. It was like having the best of a taco and quesadilla in one.

This place is an absolute gem! Absolutely delicious food. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The restaurant itself is very clean and tidy. Super friendly staff is the icing on the cake.

I loved this place! The chilaquiles verde were delicious and the portion size was pretty good. The horchata was also very tasty and the size was good for the price. They also have a full assortment of jarritos. I would definitely come back and dine here again. I would like to try one of the tortas and a burrito.

This place is a gem. The staff are very personable and so kind. But most importantly, the food is amazing! Ive been there 4 times now and I will keep going back. - Birria Tacos (weekends only) are by far the best Ive ever had. The meat is flavorful on its own and the dipping soup adds another layer of flavor - Pork Carnitas are my favorite taco so far. The meat is very well seasoned and cooked. they dont skimp on the filling either! They also have the best sauces (a green and red) to add to your tacos. The red is well balanced flavor and spice (not too spicy). - Aquafresca - the best juice ever. They offer different flavors every day. I tried the tropical punch and it tastes like fresh tropical fruit. Its not artificial tasting at all. - They make their own tortillas which can be appreciated when eating in the restaurant. As with any other place, they will get soggy if you get takeout. This might be the reason for a couple poor reviews. I highly recommend trying this place and eat in the restaurant if you can!

I grew up on tacos in Los Angeles. This might have even been a step above.

I grew up near the Mexicali border and have high standards for Mexican food. After moving to Connecticut, I quickly learned that the food in this state simply isn't the same. Nothing I found came close to the food from home. As if getting adjusted to the winters here wasn't hard enough, the absence of authentic Mexican food was the nail in the coffin that broke my spirit. After stumbling into Taqueria by chance, I now believe the cheesy saying of everything happens for a reason. I walked in expecting Connexican food. Instead, I found a little piece of my soul that I thought was gone forever. Please support this business. The food here is clearly made with pride and love. The freshly made tortillas alone are enough to make your tastebuds wonder what you have been missing all your life. The staff I met were so kind and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance made me temporarily feel like I was back home. I will definitely be visiting Taqueria again. Muchísimas gracias!!!!

This is the best Mexican food I have had out in Connecticut. We ordered the birria tacos, the spicy shrimp tacos, and pastor tacos. They were all delicious. The chef is the owner, and he is very friendly. They provide three sauces on the side that seem to be homemade and they were *delicious*. All of the ingredients looked and tasted fresh. I can't wait to go back for more.

Was in the mood to try tacos from a new place. Ordered everything they had to offer. Probably would have been better dine in rather than delivery. Tasty!

Great food and even greater price, but I found this in my birria taco. Looks like some type of artery. I’m fine and I spit it out, but I’d just be cautious.
