Got the black garlic pork ramen with extra egg. Delicious! The broth was really yummy, and the serving of pork was small - something my husband wasn't too fond of, but I enjoyed since I usually find the pork belly in other ramen places to be almost purely fat (which wasn't the case in this smaller portion). Can't wait to go back there. Also shared Takoyaki with our party - it was quite good!
Love this small Ramen place! A hidden gem ☺️ we had black garlic pork ramen which is very unique and loved it!! Tbh better than Ramen nagi. We waited about 10 mins. The staff was super nice as well! Parking was a bit tricky but willing to come back for the black garlic ramen! Highly recommended!!
Fantastic tonkotsu! I was in the area and wanted to try a different ramen shop and gave Kokoro a shot. It was superb. The pork broth was rich and flavorful and the chashu was wonderfully charred yet soft. I also got the gyoza, which instead of being pan fried was deep fried and crispy all over - sort of non-traditional but still very good. The sauce it was paired with was excellent. I will absolutely be back - I've eaten there twice already this week.
Cute ramen place with amazing food and good prices. Service is quick and friendly. It’s smaller place with a nice vibe. Waitress was super friendly and nice and food came quickly and was amazing. Will definitely be back to try more flavors. Prices were really good for South Bay prices.
A great choice for Japanese ramen in Milpitas. I love the classic shoyu soy-sauce-based ramen. Includes just enough pork belly and a soft-boiled egg. The garlic pieces are a nice touch. Be careful that the spicy version can be very spicy! And I often do go for spicy foods. If you order the spice on the side and add to your liking, that is a good option. I’m not sure who is crazy enough to order the “extra spicy” here!
One of the best ramens I have tried. I had the curry ramen and the broth was super delicious. Chicken karaage and fried garlic added the right flavor. Their ingredients seemed super fresh. I loved their garlic edamame too. The service was top notch, lady was courteous and super nice. Surely visiting again soon!
A small, cozy eating experience that I would absolutely return to. The absolute must have on the menu are the curry croquettes which were superb. The serving size is massive for the ramen so if you are ordering sides as well i recommend sharing the ramen. The wait was short but there is very limited seating so it crowds quickly. Servers were lovely and atmosphere was very pleasant!
Great experience, and even better food. Was recommended and the ramen actually was better than what people told me. I would totally go here again
Very busy during lunch time. The waitress was working so hard to serve us. You can choose thin or thick noodles. You can also choose the original soup or add spices to the soup (additional money). This is really good. As always, I chose the thin noodles. The egg was excellent and tasted exactly what I wanted. They have outside dining and inside dining at this moment (March of 2022)
Update 11/23: Brought a friend here recently whose idea of ramen comes from a bag. This is now one of his top lunch places and practically begs to come here. Still da Bomb! This is the most authentic Ramen I've had this side of the Pond. The noodles are cooked one way, al dente, which is perfect for my taste. They don't offer cooking firmness levels like in many Japanese shops. My only complaint is that it's too popular at the moment and can be difficult to get into at lunch time.
Visited this location for dinner with a friend based on a recommendation that this restaurant has been serving good ramen for years. As a start, I like the way the tables and seats are arranged in order to accommodate maximum capacity for such a small restaurant. For food, we ordered two appetizers as well as the Black Garlic Pork Ramen and the Vegetable Curry Udon. Both appetizers taste great along with generous portion of one of them being served. For the noodle dishes, we are happy with both the presentation and portion sizes for the prices being charged. One feedback though is that there is hardly any flavor of curry in the Vegetable Curry Udon despite the name associated with the dish.
Ordered the Tonkotsu soup ramen with thick noodles and less salt for myself and the black garlic soup ramen with thick noodles and less salt for hubby. The black garlic ramen was most flavourful. Both soup was rich and thick and the fried black garlic was fragrant. The pork slices were thick and soft. Have to say the ramen was tasty and satisfying, authentic to Japan. Have a try for yourself
Great Ramen place in Milpitas. Black garlic is my favorite, and they use real black garlic rather than garlic oils only
I don't eat meat so I tried the veggie Ramen and it was surprisingly good. I also tried Agedashi tofu on the side and I always like it in general and it was good here too. My wife tried the curry Ramen and she liked it too. Overall a good place for non meat eaters. Not sure about strict vegetarians though. Place is small and not much of an ambience to say if that is important.
Excellent flavor in the broth. I would have preferred the noodle to be a bit more al dente but the toppings were good and portions were very large. I definitely recommend.
Kokoro ramen is a great ramen shop in the milpitas area. Lots of parking but in typical ramen style seats are pretty limited. Ofc if ur in a rush the next door restaurants are good choices too (but the korean ones will def be filled too) Overall great side dishes we got the garlic edamame and karaage chicken which were solid choices I got the miso ramen with just spicy which wasn’t that spicy tbh (for asian standards) Overall a solid experience
Cozy small restaurant serving good ramen, open till 9PM.
Decent ramen with good mix of ingredients. Compared to other places where the bowl may contain 1/4 toppings and 3/4 noodles, here the toppings and noodles appear to be in roughly equal proportions, and you have to dig a bit to get at the noodles. But it's fine since the toppings were great, and the chashu were especially tender. Soup has intense flavor and was not scorching hot. Serving size is just about right. Inner decor was nice and unobtrusive although seating was very limited (seats about 30 people). This is a good ramen place that is worth a visit.

This is a pretty good ramen place in the heart of a shopping center full of really delicious food. We got the tonkatsu ramen with the black garlic. I ordered mine spicy. It was delish! Not as good as some places I've been too, but definitely a solid choice. Like most ramen places, the lines are long and the place is small. Its close to our house so we will be back!
This place is small cute little place and can get busy during lunch hours . The service was quick and the staff was so friendly. We tried their curry ramen with karaage chicken in pork broth and made it extra spicy The broth was so flavorful and so up to the mark . And the spice level was really high . Next time I would do medium spicy. We also tried their chicken mayo it was good too 👍🏼 The quantity is so worth the price. Highly recommended!
The black garlic ramen was pretty solid 🍜 The egg was a bit overcooked to my liking but other than that, really great flavor overall. Unfortunately service was really slow, there was only one server the night we dined. Indoor seating is pretty limited as well, although they have outdoor seating (but I would recommend waiting for indoor seats in case you get caught with the Milpitas odor haha).
Good ramen place and there were plenty of options. The deep fried gyoza were pretty good. The curry ramen was a bit more spicy than I had expected and soup was less thick (compare to the other curry udon at Japanese restaurants). Overall I think this was a decent ramen place but I wouldn't see myself craving to visit unless I'm in the area.
Got the black garlic pork ramen and it was pretty good taste and portion-wise. This plaza can get pretty busy during peak times so parking can be hard sometimes. My party got seated very quickly and we had at least 8 people. Service here is great and there's an option of sitting outdoors with heat lamps.
This is one of the better ramen places in Milpitas (honestly speaking, there aren't too many choices). The soup is good. A little on the heavy side but it's flavorful. I like the noodle as well as it has a nice balance between soft and chewy. The layout inside is very efficient as it's a small store but it can sit roughly 30 customers with mostly 4 people tables (they use a splitter in the middle to make it 2 2 if needed). Price is fair as most ramen is around $10 per bowl.
A small, rather cozy, place with just 30 seats and one server. It has a nice aesthetic on the inside. We ordered black garlic ramen, shoyu ramen, takoyaki and karāge chicken. The food was decent. Shoyu ramen was kinda disappointing, but I'll give it a 3 star. As for the service, they were rather quick. I can definitely recommend trying karāge and takoyaki. Looking forward to tasting a bunch of other ramen they got, especially curry ramen - that looks appetizing.
It’s been about a couple years since I went here. It was quite packed on a weekend especially that the restaurant is small. Good news is that I’m able to get a seat since I’m a solo diner. I was deciding if I wanted to either get Shoyu Ramen or Black Garlic Pork Ramen, which is highly recommended. So I got the garlic one. Honestly, the broth is too garlicky. Also they noticed that usually serve big pieces of sliced meat rather than few smaller ones. Everything else including the toppings is good though. If you plan to dine out with your friends here especially on the weekend, try planning in advance because you’ll have to wait longer.
The place is small and clean. Service was good. My black garlic ramen was flavorful but salty too my taste.
Nice and cozy little Ramen Reastaurant. I got the black garlic and the Miso. I'm still searching for that flavor. Unfortunately, It's not here.
I went here for dinner on a Thursday evening. Got the table in 10 mins. I ordered curry croquettes and vegetarian ramen. The only vegetarian ramen available was soy based. I personally am not a big fan of soy, I had thought of customising the vegetarian broth with miso flavour but they couldn’t do that. Overall the service was fast and food was good.
Been here a few times. It is perfectly good ramen, very garlic though (which I personally love). Garlic edamame was v good too. Employees are always nice and helpful in my experience. It is very small though, honestly I'd say max group size should be 4 or less. Never had to wait with two of us, though.
honestly some of the best ramen i’ve ever tasted. the flavors are super rich and satisfying. a lot of their ramen can be on the heavier side though, so i never really finish a full bowl—but even as leftovers they still taste amazing. definitely a go-to when i’m craving something comforting and filling.
Located in Milpitas, this charming Japanese Ramen joint may not be the ideal choice for vegetarian or vegan individuals, as suggested by others. While there is one option available for Vegetarian Ramen, it features a soy-based broth with fish powder, essentially making it a fish broth. Therefore, there is only one soup-less Maje Ramen option for vegetarians. We tried this dish and found it enjoyable, it comes at a spicy level, no need for additional spicy sauce. Standard option comes with kale noodles. However, it's worth noting that the ramen comes with a poached egg, which may not be suitable for vegetarians. If you fall into this category, be sure to request the omission of the egg. Additionally, we had the Curry Croquette, which resembled an Indian Cutlet and was undeniably delicious. It is highly recommended. We also tried the Chicken Mayo bowl (Mini Donburi), consisting of sticky rice topped with fried chicken and mayo, which was quite tasty. It would be beneficial to include more vegan and true vegetarian options on the menu to cater to a wider range of dietary preferences.
No vegetarian options. Even veggie broth contains fish powder. We ordered veggie broth it does have fish odor. Quantity is enough for two people. Less broth more noodles. Go for spicy( extra cost though). Broth is not thick. Curry croquette is too good, must try. Chicken karage is kinda juicy and flavorful. You can opt for thin noodles.
Good Tonkotsu Ramen. It had a creamy pork broth with 2 slices of chashu pork. Chicken Karaage was coated with a light crispy batter on the outside and a juicy dark meat chicken on the inside. Very small restaurant. Food came out fast. Staff were nice, friendly and welcoming.

The ramen here is decent, if pricy. The spicy option is a good step up that can bring a small tear to your eye without destroying your taste buds. Servings are an adequate size and there's a nice variety, including a fun chicken karaage with curry flavor. The appetizers are also merely an adequate value, but are solid. Service and speed are generally good. There is very limited seating so you may need to wait outside.

Came with my family to have a quick dinner and Kokoro Ramen sufficed but was hardly the best ramen experience in the bay. We began our meal with the takoyaki. The dish comes with 5 and is unfortunately smothered in dried bonito shreds and mayo which takes away from the experience a bit in my opinion. I would have preferred it to be a little lighter on the two condiments and instead add in pickled ginger or more nori seasoning. Still, it was delivered piping hot so kudos to that. Next we added a mini spicy pork donburi. I thought this was excellent on flavor but the rice left some to be desired. It may have been cooled because for Japanese rice, the grains were loose rather than warm and glutinous. Donburi is supposed to be one of those ultimate comfort dishes after all. Finally came our rounds of ramen. I opted for the black garlic ramen which was presented very nicely with a smorgasbord of toppings. Noodles were cooked well, but much thicker than average Japanese ramen places. Char siu is hardly what I would consider generous - two measly slices? Meh. At least they weren't too fatty. I also tried my best to ration noodles with toppings but eventually found myself eating spoonfuls of bean sprouts and woodear mushrooms towards the end...and you can imagine how delectable that must have been. Overall, the meal was an average ramen experience.
This is a cheap & filling bowl of ramen, and it is what you pay for. Not all food has to be a “peak” culinary experience, and I respect that. I can see this is a beloved spot in the community. If I lived in the area and wanted something warm and affordable this is a decent spot. It is surrounded by dessert places sandwiched between two dessert shops and a stone’s throw from a bakery, so there it is a full evening if you wanted dinner and dessert. OUR ORDER: The famous black garlic tonkatsu ramen (thin noodles) , the plain tonkatsu ramen with an add-on of sweet corn (thin noodles), and sweet potato fries. We dined in, and we also sat at the table closest to the kitchen. FOOD WISE: My personal take, the ramen itself wasn’t memorable or worth a drive out that’s more than 15 minutes. I judge a bowl of ramen by three main components: noodles, broth, and toppings. They offer a few options for noodles ranging from thick to thin. They had a decent chew and bite. They mixed a lot of white bean sprouts, a lot more than I realized as I dug through the bowl. I will say what I appreciate is how the bamboo included doesn’t taste old, which is a rarity with ramen shops in the area. The pork cuts looked charred and fresh, but wasn’t particularly juicy, it was just a thin pork cut. The jammy egg wasn’t as jammy as I like it, but that is a personal preference. I love when the yolk is oozing, as I mix it into the bowl as the broth gets creamy… What I regrettably didn’t like, was the soup broth. The tonkatsu was light, but plain. I resisted the urge to dunk salt in my bowl- for me, the whole purpose of a ramen bowl is the broth. The noodles are just a vessel for the broth. The toppings exist to be coated in broth. It is everything. It was so plain, the Ichiran box ramen would laugh. I was relieved I didn’t get the thick noodles, because thick noodles especially need something that stands out to coat it. When I tried the garlic broth, unfortunately it just didn’t taste good. Don’t get me wrong- I love garlic. I am fond of throwing at least a minimum of a garlic head in my cooking. I was expecting the hallmark flavors; mellow, buttery, sweet, and nutty… it tasted sad. I felt bad because I took my partner’s ramen because I would rather eat something warm and tasteless than taste that form of garlic. Black garlic is a tricky flavor though, so I understand. Soup aside, what I observed at the other tables their karaage and other side dishes look crispy and generous. My impression from the fries I got are they good at frying things, and maybe I’ll try the tonkatsu instead next time. SERVICE WISE: They are a team of a bunch of hard working people, and I will commend them for that. I truly want this business to thrive and succeed because of how hard they work, which is why I am so honest in this review. The servers welcomed us in, and they let us know an estimate time- +1 point. They took our orders for the food so it was a seamless transition from outside to the table- +1 point. They had a perfect balance of checking in and leaving us alone- +1 point. This is a perfect area, in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. INTERIOR: The interior of the ramen shop is a lot smaller than I expected- in the restaurant there is a small island where they wait in the middle, and then around 6 or so tables that seat 4-6 individuals. It fills up fast, so if you are prepared to eat this ramen I recommend you are prepared to wait, or maybe stick to ordering to go if you are thinking of ambience. Unfortunately it is so small, you are bumping elbows with the tables next to you. It also will not be pleasant experience if you are seated next to a noisy table, where kids are screaming and banging tableware… I was so glad I was wearing 3 layers because when people enter and exit, the heat leaks out and you are shivering with your soup. In a way, it makes it the perfect environment to eat something warm haha XD Decoration is cute though :)

Outdoor seating is cold The takoyaki was good, very crispy but only 4 for $6.50.. kinda pricy The Tonkoteu ramen I got was a major disappointment! The broth taste water down, no flavor. The Chashu was very watery tasting, I think they probably just water boil it or something. It was nasty, I could not finish my food. I only ate 1/3 of the bowl.. total disaster.. I will not come back here again.
If you are a vegetarian, I do not recommend this place for you. It's a very small place, nothing much to say about the ambience and I thought the food will compansate for it. Buti was very much disappointed. There was only one vegetarian item on the menu and turns out that is truly not vegetarian since there is fish powder in it. Then why would they mark it as vegetarian in the menu? Ridiculous. I still went ahead and tried as I am not a strict vegetarian like my other friends who were there with me and I didn't like the taste or smell of the broth. The other ingredients in it were decent though.
I thought food was good until I found bugs in my veg ramen soup. Probable source was very old garlics or in general unhygienic kitchen. Waitress was very understanding and did not charge me for food but that did not help from ruining my dinner. If you ordering soup, be careful, never know you might be eating bugs along.
