La Bahia is a well-loved spot in Monterey known for its excellent Mexican food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Standout dishes include the Jeezy Shrimp Taco, Surf & Turf tacos, and burritos. Some find the red sauce on the wet burrito too spicy.

4.5 stars Birria and birria ramen were delicious. The horchata was not very sweet - 3/5
Incredible fish tacos, guacamole was perfect, and staff were awesome. Best meal throughout our entire stay in Monterey! 100% worth any kind of wait
Excellent spot for affordable eats. We ordered chips, salsa and guacamole for starters. Then we all had burritos. Cali Fries, the Surf & Turf and the Street Carne Asada Burrito. Everything was hot and fresh, tortillas are homemade and fresh also. Highly recommend and will be stopping by again.
Got a burrito Bahia and was very happy. The various ingredients blended nicely and each tasted great. Prices are a bit elevated but maybe that's how it is in Monterey.
It is very delicious, I ordered 3 pastor tacos and they were exquisite, if you want to eat tacos, you'll need to come here. It impressed me because I'm Mexican and I wanted to eat tacos. They were really gooooooood.
This should be the only Mexican food you try here! Burritos the size of your arm, the best surf and turf tacos, and Modelo to wash it down with! You will not find a better Mexican spot. I dare you! Tourists of you're thinking of going to El, you know where, down by the water, go here instead, it doesn't disappoint!
La Bahia was a standout on our trip. The food was excellent, probably the best shrimp I have ever had. The tacos were great too. I also had a Bloody Mary that hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh and the service was solid. I would come back without question.
The best tacos outside of Santa Cruz, hands-down. The Jeezy Shrimp Taco & Surf and Turf tacos are incredible! They are overfilled with so much flavor and quality ingredients. Agua Fresca paired great with the savory tacos. Customer service was stellar (cant remember the gals name), very friendly. La Bahia on Lighthouse Ave will be my new home. Cant wait to to go back and try the other menu items 🌯
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "La Bahia is an absolute gem in Monterey! We ordered a Surf & Turf taco, two Mahi Mahi tacos, a Carne Asada taco, and a Carne Asada burrito. The chipotle on the Surf & Turf and Mahi Mahi was incredible, and the carne asada was cooked to perfection. The mahi mahi was super fresh and bursting with flavor. Both the green and red salsas tasted homemade with love, and the guacamole was next-level. Service from the host to the waitress was absolutely top-notch — friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I was so full at the restaurant that I saved the burrito for 45 minutes later — and wow, it was still amazing! The rice and beans were spot-on, and the sour cream and salsa were perfectly portioned, not clumped in the middle or off to one side. This is officially my new go-to spot, and I’m coming all the way from Modesto for it!"
We were long- time Casa Rosita fans ( the former name) and were quite pleased with the new owners menu, service and hospitality. A very welcoming staff with authentic dishes ( especially seafood plates) at a reasonable price. The owner, Francisco , wants customers to come, feel like family, eat delicious seafood plates as well as traditional items. Which we did! I highly recommend eating here.
I am always down to find a place I want to eat at, a lot. La Bahia’s food is excellent, incredibly consistent, and the people who work there are very committed to making it a great experience. This place is a thriving vibe of super awesome burritos, tacos, flautas and other offerings, including birria and birria ramen. The Bahia burritos are on my weekly crave list, sometimes a few times a week! The carne asada, the shrimp and chicken are all exceptional. The salsas are prepared there, and are super fresh and delicious. We have ordered several items, and each item has been a real treat. The beverages they make there look really great, too. We stop at many taco shops and trucks, all over Seaside, Salinas, as well as up and down the state and all over SD County. This has become our favorite, hands down. It’s clear whoever is running this place has a very clear vision of what they want this place to be: a hip, delicious update to the casual Southern Cal taco shop. We are loving this place, and literally can’t get enough.
Nicely priced & delicioso taqueria in Monterey. We got the taco trio & the birria taco plate. Their signature “Jeezy taco” was to die for! I usually don’t like chipotle flavored things but the chipotle sauce on these tacos was too good!! This is my new go to taqueria when in the area!!
Small sit-down restaurant with waited tables, good food, and great service. The restaurant is very clean and I love the way the walls and ceiling are painted. My only complaints are that they don't have horchata and the beans that come with the plates aren't refried beans. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the experience and the meal.
We really enjoyed this place. The food had slightly unique flavors, but all tasted excellent. I really liked the Jeezy Shrimp taco in the Trio Flight I had, although they were all tasty. My wife had the birria ramen and tacos which she loved. We would definitely frequent this place more if we lived locally. My only complaint is that they’re very stingy with the chips and salsa - they bring tiny bowls of chips and charge you after the first 2 bowls.
Great place! Great price! Service was amazing! We had a big group and they accommodated us right away! Everyone loved their dish! The red sauce on the wet burrito is very spicy! So if you don’t like spicy food, omit the sauce. I like spicy, but even this was too spicy for me. But it was still super delicious and very huge! The fish inside was the best part and there was a lot of fish! The decor was amazing! Their chips and salsa tastes so fresh! I would buy their salsa, it’s that good! We’ll definitely come back!
Birria Ramen and Quesabirria was good flavor, well seasoned, the sauces are good too, I expected the michelada to be delicious, but it was very simple flavorless, The chips cost 5 dollars and it's the smallest plate I've ever seen in my life. They are friendly and make you feel welcome.
Their Quesabirria and shrimp tacos are excellent. Truly delicious! The dining area is ok, not particularly cozy or inviting but clean. Unfortunately the music is always too loud. I like the feel of the music but it just needs to be turned down a bit so that customers can talk to those at their table. Additionally I am shocked that they don’t have bottomless chips when ordering chip & salsa or chips & guac. Many restaurants offer free chips and salsa. I’m willing to pay the $4.95 for salsa if it comes with bottomless chips. Instead they give you one (very small) bowl of chips/order.
The service at this restaurant was excellent—our server checked on us three times, which we really appreciated. However, the food took longer than expected to arrive, and when it did, it was overly salty, especially the salsas. If the seasoning were adjusted, it would make for a much better experience. Overall, it was a great service but room for improvement in the food.
I have been here a total of 2 times. The second time really put a close to me coming back here. My first time, I got the Street Burrito, with chicken. - Lots of well cooked rice and beans -Chicken was fresh, seasoned perfectly, was a nice yellow (season) color on the chicken. - Had hair in it (I assumed it was mine) Giving benefit of the doubt. However.. I found a small piece of hair in my burrito. You might think I am gross but I told myself "oh this burrito is so good, it could just be my hair or whatever" I continued to eat the burrito. It was truly really good. But at the same time, I just came off a *only red meat* diet for the past 3 months, so some chicken was really hitting home for me that day. My second time, it was a day before Christmas, I unfortunately was dealing with some PMS and craved their burrito. I was so happy to hear that they were opened. I ordered the same thing. - Street Burrito with Chicken - - Barely any rice and beans & the rice/beans weren't fresh. If you know, you know. - Mostly chicken, as in 90% of my burrito was chicken. *I didn't order double meat. It was very old chicken, a completely different color because they seasoned it so much to try to make it taste good I assume. - Another long piece of hair. *It was actually stuck in my burrito* - I threw up after seeing this, it was def not my hair THIS TIME. - maybe I just have bad luck. But damn. Very inconsistent flavor in food, but consistent with hair.
Ratings of this restaurant was decent so we went ahead to try it, on arrival the designated person on the counter asked us to sit on a table of 2 which was right at the entrance n too small, seeing any other tables empty I requested him if I could sit at another table, he straightaway denied and asked us to come later if we want table although there were plenty of empty space, I felt it was very rude so we moved out and found another restaurant just across the street, that too was Mexican restaurant and they are very welcoming and polite.Their food was delicious too, it’s called Mission 19, do try them! I usually do not give negative reviews but later while driving n passing by the restaurant I saw party of 2 sitting on a table of 4, so felt it was very unprofessional of them.
