Korean BBQ and Dubu

First time at this restaurant and we went as a work group of 15 people. Fast lunch service and awesome food.

A frequent visitor to the Glenview location, I was excited to hear that another new location was opened closer to home. It took me less than two days after hearing the news to come in. It is bright, it is clean, and it is just as delicious as every other time!!

I have been here twice so far now (once for lunch and once for dinner). In both situations, this has proven to be the best place to have soondooboo (soft tofu/순두부) in Illinois. The food is great here. The service is very good! They answer questions about the food very well and nicely. Moreover, everything that is supposed to be in the 순두부 stews are always in there exactly as they should be. THIS is the SGD DUBU location you should go to. If you ever plan to eat at So gong dong in Illinois, make sure it is the Vernon Hills location right here!

Generous portions of beef bulgogi. Soup was also delicious. Server was incredibly nice and friendly. Employee by the counter was very welcoming and attentive. Overall, the food was really good, but their customer service was excellent. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Delicious food, amazing staff in a very cozy and pretty space! Our waitress was amazing and showed us how to eat the food in the authentic way, amazing experience! I had the Bibimbap hot stone bowl and it was delicious! Loved it and want to go back to try different dishes!

“Don’t hesitate” to try Korean food at this place, even if you’re not sure. It’s an incredible place to experience Korean comfort food and general deliciousness. Everything is perfectly cooked, quickly delivered, and incredibly fun to eat. The unlimited mouthwatering sides are to die for, and the atmosphere is simple and friendly. The price is also very affordable in today’s food scene. The service is beyond excellent. Always my go-to when l'm in Vernon Hills.

First time here!! My hunny & I went on a chilly Saturday evening in search of something warm & filling. We were not dissapointed!! When we arrived, it was fairly packed, but we were seated right away. We ordered gyoza for an appetizer & oh my goodness, those were bomb. Nice & crispy 👌 taste was delicious. We both got the combination soondubu jjigae. Ugh, it was soooo good 😩 it was alllll so good. Love the side dishes. The soondubu was VERY filling. I chose ramen noodles while he went with udon. I liked the ramen, will try udon next time. There WILL be a next time!! 😁😁

Always a reliable spot for a good meal. The budae jjigae sundubu and dolsot bibimbap never disappoint, and the mushroom sundubu I tried this time was pretty good. The staff are also very friendly.

Genuinely really good food. The interior is very modern and simple but it’s not overwhelming. The food is really good with the most crispy fried dumplings and giving that tangy flavor with the soy sauce they give you. The sundoobu jigae is really nice rich flavor. Overall 5/5 definitely would come here again this time with friends and family.

Food is good, especially the tofu soup. There are not many options in the menu compared to other Korean restaurants, bibimbap is so so, but service is good in general. The best part of the restaurant is that they provide a great variety of Korean appetizers and they taste good. Would be a returning customer when I crave for tofu soup.

My friends and I wanted to meet close to the Vernon Hills location and found out that there was a branch in Vernon Hills as we were planning on going to the Glenview location. Personally, I enjoyed this location more than Glenview-it seemed more cleaner and more spacious. The food was still very delicious (I ordered the soondubu jjigae (kimchi and beef)) and it tasted exactly the same as the Glenview location! The free banchan was delicious and definitely a great addition to the meal! I definitely will be coming to this branch more as it is closer to me!

Delicious Korean food. Staff was friendly Nan Chan was delicious! Adjustable spice levels. Perfect for kids who have a touchy spice tolerance. Also lots of vegetarian options.

We are frequent diners here. Food is always great with generous portions. Our favorites are soon dubu jjigae, stone bibim bop, and the bentos. Service is excellent. The only thing I would love to change is the noise level (the ambient noise is quite loud). Otherwise, we love this place!

Food is consistently so delicious!! The galbee, spicey pork, and ofcourse the soondoobu are our go tos. The restaurant is always clean and the the service is fast and very friendly. They have many vegetarian options as well! Highly recommend!!!!

I've eaten here with my wife twice now and it maybe the best Korean restaurant around. The little side dishes are very tasty and refreshing and go well with whatever food you get which is always piping hot and flavorful. They refresh your sides if you finish them before the end. You have to go and taste for yourself.

What I didn’t love was how the manager handled it. He explained that the kitchen staff all have short, dark hair and implied it was most likely my own hair. That may be possible, but the way it was presented didn’t feel very reassuring from a customer’s perspective. Hair can come from different points in the process, not just one. I wasn’t asking for compensation—just a more customer-focused response. Because of this experience and how it was handled, I’m giving 3 stars this time instead of my usual higher rating. I hope it’s handled a little better next time.
