Had a terrific dinner at the Red Drum. It has an interesting and varied menu. Everything is scratch made and the dishes we had, although mundane, were delicious! Our server, Katie H., was outstanding. Attentive, but not overly so, accommodating, pleasant, and efficient. We started with the chips and salsa. This comes with both a red and a green salsa. Both were so good we took whatever we had left home. They were tasty, tangy, and spicy. I had the wood grilled cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. I asked for it grilled medium well and it was perfect. It comes with lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was as good as the picture looks. My wife had the grilled chicken salad. I didn't have any, but she said it was excellent (and she's very trustworthy). Oh, and I had an Espresso Martini, also delicious. A little pricey at $80 (not including tax and tip), but considering we had an appetizer and a drink along with the quality of the food and the great service, I think worth it.
Great local spot, generous pours in the wine department, all plates were full loaded and massive portions and yet the flavors kept coming! Our server was great, I forgot her name but she did a bang up job. The place was a bit dark lighting design wise but that is my only critique! I highly recommend the pork chop and shashito peppers!
This was my first time doing the Brunch at Red Drum and I recommend reservations as we did. We sat on the patio and enjoyed libations and the wonderful menu items. Our server Lexi was very attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all in attendance.
Great Father’s Day brunch experience after a tentative start. Though it took a good 15 minutes before our server arrived, she owned it and comp’d our dessert without us ever having to say a word! Great integrity! Mimosa and Bloody Mary to start with an appetizer of Fried Shrimp. Fresh and very lightly fried. Our entrées were Shrimp and Grits and Eggs Benedict followed by the house made doughnuts with caramel cream. Everything was prepared to perfection. Truly worth the visit.
My family and I went there Saturday night on a fluke and had an amazing experience! From the hostess (forgot her name, I think it was Kailey) to the server (Rob) to management (Charlie) we were accommodated without making the proper reservation. Not only is the staff amazing but the food was amazing. We ordered a number of items and the standout for me and my family was the fresh guacamole (we are from CA, so we are picky about our guac), smoked salmon dip with the fresh tortillas, and the jumbo shrimp. I had the special of the night which was the Mahi Mahi and it was amazing (I should probably stop saying amazing) the only thing I would change is adding more salted caramel to the fresh whip cream for the doughnuts but that’s because we were fighting over it. We were seated in the private dining room which I don’t believe they were supposed to open that area yet but we are glad they did and we got to have a memorable dinner. I would highly recommend the private dining room for special events just be warned that it is a working wine cellar so the staff do come in and out but they are all friendly and they we’re doing their job. I encourage everyone that is looking for a special night out to visit Red Drum. I clearly forgot pictures of the food
We ate here with 8 people and everyone loved the food. From kids quesadills to Pan Seared Sea Scallops, everything was delicious. It's a really nice atmosphere that feels different than most restaurants. Low light and old wooden doors make you feel like you are in a different time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the Pan Seared Sea Scallops were the best Scallops I have ever had.
I love this place. My 1st time was a reservation for two. The meals have never changed. I like it that this is one of some, locations I know to stay open later than many others. The entire menu is great and the bar is open even later if not only but for a drink and some time together with whoever. One of my now, favorite to go dishes is the sweet corn pudding, Aw man this is an excellent prepared dish just as an appetizer. I’m a Chocolate Martini 🍸 guy and wow,(posted below) do they make a great one. Each time I’m in town, this stop has to be on my list. The southwestern low country ambiance is to character. You enter and melt into the atmosphere knowing you’ve come to a great spot. Another favorite dish is the wood grilled salmon, I do always have to send this dish back as they seem to undercook it all the time, I like mines a little more well done, asking for more of the green Chile butter, mmm. I’m wanting to speak to so many of their great dishes, but I’ll just say. This is the place for a twist on your palette. Speaking about Red Drum has me quite hungry now, so I’m on a flight from Connecticut soon to grab some food and drinks.
The food was amazing. We never order dessert but we couldn’t resist after the amazing meal we had. Service was attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend
Sweet Baby Jesus in the Manger, this place was awesome. Called at 4pm and made reservation, call early the fill up quick. Got reservations for 8:30pm. Arrived on time and was sat immediately. Wait staff were dressed will and extremely polite. They also looked out for each other because if a plate was empty, someone would swing by, see if it was good to take and then they removed it. The smoked salmon dip and nacos was great. Wife had the scallops and mashed potatoes. She cleared her plate quickly and loved it. I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and garlic flat bread. This was the absolute BEST pork chop I have ever had. The mixed drinks were a tad weak, but tasty. Sorry for the porkchop pic, I was hungry and started before my picture. If you are in mt pleasant or Charleston, go there, you won't be disappointed
I ordered the wood grilled chicken breast and it was so good. It had so much flavor. I do think $30 is a lot for it and you get a side of 4 pieces of asparagus. My husband had the fish sandwich he enjoyed it but said the fish was small. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes. They were super creamy not my favorite texture but I still ate them all since they were $9.
First time there, really great! The server was amazing and artistic in her descriptions and the fried chicken tacos were some of the best tacos I’ve had. Go there!
My wife and I are big fans of Red Drum Restaurant in Mount Pleasant. We go there at least once a week, and we've never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. On our most recent visit, I had the steak, my wife had the chicken, and we also shared the braised enchiladas. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare, and it was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the enchiladas were packed with cheese and topped with a delicious mole sauce. We also enjoyed our drinks. I had a margarita, and my wife had a glass of red wine. Both were well-made and refreshing. The service at Red Drum is always top-notch. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He also gave us some great recommendations for food and wine. The atmosphere at Red Drum is warm and inviting. The restaurant is decorated in a Southwestern style, and there is a cozy fireplace in the dining room. We always feel like we're being welcomed into someone's home when we eat at Red Drum. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Red Drum Restaurant. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I hope this helps!
Had their brunch on Sunday and it was great. I had the fried chicken and gravy. The chicken was crispy and the gravy was okay. It didn’t have a lot of sausage in the gravy but it was still good.
First off, the duck wings were unbelievably delicious. For my main course, I had the chicken breast entrée, and the selection of toppings offered a burst of flavor in every bite. The chicken breast itself was incredibly juicy and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were exquisitely creamy. I knew the food was authentic when I noticed there were no salt and pepper shakers on the table. It was the best food I’ve ever had!
Smoked braised short rib was delicious. Highly recommend.
Went for the first time and the staff, ambiance and more importantly the food were superb. Head chef curates a unique and complimentary assortment of dishes for all palettes. 10/10. Don’t sleep on the homemade doughnuts.
Great food was surprised there wasn't more seafood optioms but what tjey had was fresh and delicious.
Dear Red Drum Team, During a recent family vacation to Isle of Palms Beach, we had the pleasure of dining at your wonderful restaurant. We prioritize good food when exploring new places, and Red Drum exceeded our expectations with its exceptional service, cozy atmosphere, and absolutely delicious food. We look forward to returning soon!
This was my first time here. The food was excellent and so was the service. Our water glass was always full. The waiters/ waitresses were always attentive but not bothersome The portions of food were large. And delicious. The only problem we had was that the lighting could have been a bit brighter.
We’ve dined there many times and always great! Last night was exceptional. The flat bread and fried shrimp oh so good. The wreck fish was best I’ve ever had!! We of course had to get the donuts and just so good.
Excellent meal - scallops were cooked to perfection and asparagus was a great swap out choice - and the rum cake dessert was outstanding. Not the most romantic ambiance despite the dark lighting inside but the mgmt is very attentive; one of the partners stopped by our table to check on our experience which was a welcome and appreciated gesture. My hubs got catch of the day - wreck fish - loved it and friends got burgers and loved those as well. A great experience! Will make this a regular haunt!
The food was amazing I got tex mex chorizo tacos and my wife got the eggs Benedict and it was scrumptious
An often overlooked gem in the realm of Charleston restaurant scene. Great service, cozy atmosphere and amazing food! Don't sleep on Red Drum, so good and thank you for taking care of my family tonight!
My wife and I shared a delicious dinner together tonight. The Ny Strip was cooked perfectly. The Grouper was full of flavor. Cant wait to go back.
So, the prices are kind of crazy but the food, the food is exceptional. The French fries are, dare I say it, the best I have ever tasted (very yummy). The chicken is fantastic and the desserts are heavenly. So, if you are willing to pay the price, it is definitely worth it.
Fantastic on top of it service, inviting and energetic yet cozy atmosphere, and the food is delicious! We will definitely be back.
We had a fantastic dinner at Red Drum! Wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy yet upscale, and the service was spot on—friendly, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. Everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared, and you can really feel the attention to detail in both the food and the presentation. It’s the kind of place where you feel well taken care of, whether you’re sitting at the bar or enjoying a relaxed dinner. A true Mount Pleasant gem—highly recommend!
Our entire dining experience was perfect. From the hostess stand to signing the check. Olivia took care of our table flawlessly. Olivia was attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly. Can you tell we had a great experience?? Thank you Red Drum and Olivia for a great Friday night meal.

With five-star service and food to match, The Red Drum has easily become one of our favorite dining spots in the Lowcountry. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.
We had the salmon app, a poke style dish and skirt steak. It was all so good including the crispy fries and green beans. We sat at the bar, Connor and company took great care if us. Great experience.
The food was fantastic. Service was also great. Staff works as a team. Great portion sizes. Highly recommend.
We were here for the first time for dinner last night and every part of it was enjoyable. The working fireplace added to the already nice atmosphere, our server was professional and attentive and the food was excellent. The menu has very interesting items-and that is meant as a positive. Both my wife and I enjoyed our entrees (house enchilada, skirt steak). The chili cheddar grit dish was amazing! We will certainly be going back soon! Great job-
Do you ever go out for a meal expecting just fine only to be blown away. Hands down the best dinner we have had in Charleston...and weve been to top rated spots. The Red Drum is a hidden gem. Atmosphere, festive. Servers, amazing. Skirt steak, green beans, creamy mashed potatoes, sundried tomato salad dressing, garlic flatbread, flourless chocolate cake, and donuts, OMG..all fantastic.
One of our favorite restaurants in the Charleston area and the first place we ever went to when we moved here 12 years ago. A few weeks ago I went with a girlfriend for dinner and had a small issue with my meal and both my server and the manager went above and beyond to make things right. It’s so wonderful to have impeccable customer service these days.
Started off with cocktails I had a draft guiness, my wife had a delightfully sour sweet pear infused citrus cocktail. For appetizers we had two of their signatures and must tries. The asian inspired duck wings are rich and beautifully balanced in sweet and savory. And the crab tostitos are always a must for my wife and I. For main dishes my wife had the salmon with their signature corn pudding which is melt in your mouth good. I had the market fish which that day was wahoo over a mix of Swiss rainbow char, roasted turnips, and sweet potatoes. There was also a beet puree and a buerre blanc to finish. And for dessert we tried the chocolate tort and the always amazing home made donuts. Can't go wrong with pretty much anything on their menu.
The food was good enough but not great. As other reviews have said, the price doesn't match the quality or taste (it's over priced). I wood grilled chicken was delicious but overall the food was.. meh.
Restaurant menu was wonderful. I had the salmon crudo and it was fantastic, then the red Drum with scampi. The chef was so accommodating and switched the pasta which went with it for veggies. Made my day. Dessert was mouthwatering. Only thing I didn't get is they don't serve any bread and I needed it with the crudo. So we ordered a side of flatbread.
Food was Bit Pricey (Even for Charleston Area)... Great Brisket Jalapeno Balls for Appetizer. However, the Marasala was overcooked, bland, and more pasta vs. Chicken. The Double Enchiladas were also bland with an unappealing red sauce derivative version from the Chef's mind? The atmosphere was wonderful! The Waitstaff were attentive, courteous, and understood customer service.
I had high hope for this place, but sadly I was disappointed. Our drinks were the best part of the entire meal. The duck wings appetizer was pretty good. Although the fish and scallops were cooked very well both of our entrees lacked flavor. High priced, mediocre food.
I really don’t get the appeal of this restaurant. Everything was a little bit so so. The food was good but it was not outstanding. And the atmosphere reminded me of a nicer restaurant but nothing too fancy. I felt the that prices were higher than they should of been for the quality of food that we received. Don’t get me wrong, the food wasn’t bad, but my burger was not $16 good.
Brunch is great, dinner is mediocre, and expensive for what you get. A shrimp quesadilla was 20$ and looked like something I could make at home. Service was great though!
The restaurant had a nice appeal to it, but the menu was overpriced. Their burgers and fries are really great and you get a nice portion for the price, but the other plates were not worth it.The appetizers were good but WAY overpriced for the portion. The salmon was heavily priced (~$30) for the small portion that I received, and it was not even that amazing. The wait time for the food seemed to take forever as well. Overall, it was good but not worth it for the price.
Fried shrimp was good but used to be awesome! A bit disappointing. However, when we got the bill there was an additional charge. Asked about it and was told it was a credit card charge. I stated we did not use a credit card but was told that did not matter, it went on all tabs. THIS IS NOT OK!!!!
Love Red Drum. Been coming here for 12+ years. The atmosphere couldn’t be better. However, something has happened in the past 6 months. Food quality, bathroom standards, etc. Today had fish tacos..one bite only. Bathroom had broken toilets, broken sink an both paper towel dispensers not working. Makes me sad wondering what’s going on. Service still excellent thought!
My friends and I (group of 8) went to our 6:15pm reservation on this past Saturday evening and were less than pleased. Our first issue started when our waitress took a long time between initially coming to the table and taking our order. Being busy is understandable. However, our waitress did not check up on us and I tried to get her attention multiple times to ask her for something but ended up having to ask to manager instead. The waitress had a poor attitude with us yet spent 5 minutes at a time talking to her other tables that had less and older people. The menu states an automatic 20% gratuity on parties of 6 or more which I assume is why she did not feel the need to tend to our table as she would another smaller table. I find this absolutely unacceptable. I have been a server myself and never would I be anything different for a certain group. The menu pricing online is cheaper than the menu in person as well as our checks showing 22% gratuity and not 20% as the menu stated. We finished eating at 7:15pm and did not have our checks processed until around 8:00pm as our server did anything but come back to pick up our checks. Very unfortunate experience as the food was very good. I would give the food a 5 star if it was not so highly priced. I got the skirt steak and sweet potato fries and before tip and tax it was $56 and after tip and tax was $76.
The food was less than satisfactory. The chicken wraps were dry and the wrap itself had burn marks not char marks. You could taste the burn of flour. Really sucked! Staff was fine but food wasn’t what I expected for the price. Need a new chef or something. Will not be back
Went for happy hour at the bar. Got the meatballs & salmon dip. The dip wasn’t a dip; it was more like a cold scoop of chunky salmon salad with very little taste. Bartenders were friendly. Drink prices were strong.
Great food for those without taste buds. If ever you are craving sub par airport food but don’t have a boarding pass then The Red drum is the place for you. However fair warning, it might be cheaper to just buy an airplane ticket and dine in the terminal without boarding given we still managed to spend hundreds on something I hope was made by a chef on his first day of work. Additional notes- Waiter was super nice but the hosts were horrible - or I guess, adequately performing to the standard of the food.
Got seated in the back room which has a plaster domed ceiling that radiates sound. There was what it seemed like a private party back there with 8-10 adults. We couldn’t hear each other and asked the waitress to repeat herself a few times. By the time our food came I told the trainee server that I didn’t expect to be moved, but that for feedback we can’t even hear ourselves talk or think. She smiled and said ok. At no point was this ever addressed by the trainer or mgmt. After leaving a tip anyway for a near $300 bill for 4, I mentioned again to the trainee when we left that this was one of the worst dining experiences I’d ever had. My ears were literally ringing and the restaurant main room seemed to be whispering compared to the noise we’d just sat through dinner in. She smiled and said I’m sorry to hear that. I walked out to a near empty restaurant as well. Clearly, there were other tables that could have been offered. We probably would have had another drink and dessert had we been offered to move. An acknowledgement from someone at this place as a follow up would have done the trick. Sometimes when things can’t be changed, all it takes is some acknowledgment from the staff other than a huge smile and “ok” is all that’s needed. Twice they had the chance to say, “let me find a manager for you,” or, “ I realize this was not the best seating arrangement, but when a table opens up I’ll come and check in to see if you would like to move.” Effort, acknowledgment, that’s it! We are in Charleston a couple more nights, we love to frequent back places we like. The food was average, nothing special for $300 and definitely not for the dining experience we had.
always love this restaurant but tonight truly disappointed our server lacked personality Emily, never introduced herself didn’t feel very welcomed by her almost like a burden. It was my domes birthday we were celebrating him let her know before ordering. When we finished dinner wanted to order dessert because she never offered a menu we asked what other desserts were on the menu and we were shut down saying that the kitchen shut down, mind you the hours state 11:30 closing time and it was 10:30pm our reservation was 8:30 had great dinner but wasn’t allowed desert and nothing was mentioned to us about that. over $300 later we can’t order dessert, disappointed
