My husband and I had one of our best dinners in Napa here. I mentioned to them that I’m vegetarian, and the team went above and beyond to accommodate me. The team worked with the chef to create a customized menu, asking a few questions about my preferences and then surprising us with three appetizers and two entrées. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and the surprise element made it a fun experience. The entire team seemed genuinely happy, and you could feel that energy in the service and the food. Somehow, when food is made and served with that kind of happiness, it tastes even better. It turned a great meal into a truly beautiful experience. 10/10 from me.
Walking into Carabao Filipino Eatery in Napa felt less like entering a restaurant and more like arriving somewhere you’ve been expected. We were warmly welcomed by co-owner Eric, who immediately made us feel at home—even as walk-ins. As he shared the story behind Carabao’s beginnings, we decided on the Chef’s Special, a surprise menu that felt less like placing an order and more like letting the evening unfold course by course. From there, the experience only got better. Brandon, our guide for the evening, made sure everything flowed perfectly. His timing, energy, and attention made it clear we were in good hands and that we were about to have a great time at our table. During the meal, Matthew, the other co-owner, stopped by with dishes and personally thanked us for coming. We also had the chance to meet Chef Jade, who took us on a culinary journey that felt both familiar and exciting. As someone with Filipino roots, we especially appreciated how the dishes paid homage to traditional flavors while introducing new textures and surprises along the way. The energy in the restaurant is contagious—smiling staff, great food, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. And if you’ve made it this far in the review, here’s a small insider tip: ask Brandon about the special dessert table outside under the Napa night sky. Somehow he managed to create an experience that felt uniquely ours. Carabao isn’t just serving Filipino cuisine—it feels like being welcomed into a family meal. If you’re in Napa, this is a place you’ll remember… and probably want to come back to.
Celebrated an early Valentine’s with our family of 14 at Carabao and had an amazing experience. They accommodated our big group effortlessly and served everything family-style with generous portions. Huge thanks to owner/host Matthew and chef Jade for going above and beyond — the ube crème brûlée and cassava cake were outstanding. The kinilaw wash fresh and had great texture, the pancit palabok was bold and rich, and the kids loved the Filipino spaghetti. Excellent food, warm service, and a memorable celebration. Highly recommend!
Matthew greeted us at the front of the house, offering us a choice of tables. Jonathan, our enthusiastic waiter, made recommendations to the entire staff and signed our anniversary card. Chef Jade also took the time to say hello. I’m a proud Filipino, savoring the comforts of my heart and stomach.
The food was exceptional--modern Filipino dishes thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very accommodating. The ambiance was elegant, with tasteful Filipino accents that added to the overall vibe. Definitely coming back to explore the rest of the menu.
Lovely welcoming staff. Food was excellent. Lumpia and bistek while reminiscent of childhood meals came with modern twists. Come hungry!
The most amazing food experience me and my girlfriend have ever had. We went to the restaurant for our Valentine’s Day meal. Our server Brenden was the best, made everything better (food, ambience, etc.). The food was a very the top and creative. We went from sitting at our table to sitting next to the kitchen on the counter. We were able to talk to Chef Jade and get to know a little more about her and the restaurant. Needless to say we will be back for the food by Chef Jade. Here’s hoping that are main guy Brenden is there too! 100/10!!!!
Carabao is an absolute gem in Napa. The food is incredibly flavorful, authentic, and thoughtfully prepared. We ordered kinilaw and chicken wing inasal for appetizers; for entrees we had sinigang and sisig which comes with choice of steamed rice and fried rice, and for the dessert we have tupig. And for the drinks; Sago and Lychee pop. The sinigang was deeply comforting and the meat is so tender that it will just come off from its bones, the sisig was rich and crispy with bold flavor topped with fried egg, and the kinilaw was fresh, bright, and beautifully seasoned. The chicken inasal wings has a really good flavor with the atchara added the perfect tangy contrast, and the tupig with a side of coconut ice cream was a wonderful finish, warm, subtly sweet, and comforting. The service was warm and welcoming, and you can tell the staff truly cares about both the food and the experience. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. Bathrooms were clean as well. Whether you’re familiar with Filipino cuisine or trying it for the first time, Carabao delivers an authentic and memorable experience. Highly recommend—this is a must-visit spot in Napa. After our dining, our servers helped us to meet and take photos with the chef, Chef Jade. Perfect day for us. Dining at Carabao Eatery is a taste of home for me and my wife.
Honestly, we had such an amazing experience here. This place has been on my list for a while, and we were lucky enough to snag a reservation during our anniversary weekend. The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. We were greeted with sparkling wine to start followed by several entrees and appetizers. Definitely try the sisig tacos, inihaw hamachi collar, adobo deviled eggs with roe to start. Everything was very well portioned and super yummy. Felt like a taste of home. The staff also complimented us with an anniversary card signed by staff and a dessert with candle as well to celebrate. Overall amazing vibes, great Filipino design touches throughout. The chef/owner definitely worked hard to represent the Filipino hospitality and kapwa through their food and service. Thank you for making our anniversary special! ♥️
I was able to get a reservation at the last moment for a friday night. My girlfriend and I went here after hearing it on tik tok. I wanted to surprise her by taking her to a restaurant that would remind her of home. We ate some of the food and we actually enjoyed it. I am very picky about food. I tried some of her food and I was surprised how good it taste. We ate some of it and took the rest food. We also ordered dessert. We left the restaurant after we were done. One of the waitress ran outside in the rain with our dessert. We both forgot about it. I felt bad that he had to run outside in the rain for it. My girlfriend and I were talking about coming back to the place again to try other food on the menu. Easily one of my favorite restaurants. I would recommend my friends to the restaurant with a reservation. 10/10. Thank you for making our night
Coming from the East Coast we heard about this Filipino restaurant and Chef Jade did not disappoint! Food was authentic Filipino on the palate and the plating and presentation elevated! Together with Matthew they run the restaurant efficiently with great hospitality! The service from apps to entrees timed perfectly! Alexis who attended to us made sure he explained each dish clearly! It was a great visit! When in Napa, and craving some Filipino cuisine, check out Carabao! Cheers!
Food: Fresh Lumpia: was very light, fresh, and yummy. A great starter Sisig: This was also very delicious- my husband downed half of it before eating anything else because he enjoyed it so much. The textures all worked well together with crunch from the chicharron, the unctuousness of the meat, and with the brightness from the citrus Kare Kare: this was good. The oxtail is already mostly pulled off the bone and made into a large meat croquette to make it easy to eat. The peanut butter flavor came through in the dish. As a note: this version does not seem to have strong fermented shrimp paste flavor (depending on your preference). Service: everything was amazing. The servers were super nice. Everyone was very friendly and it was fun to watch the chefs in kitchen
We were so excited to see this place open, bringing exposure to Filipino cuisine here 🇵🇭 It was the first place we thought to take my mom for her birthday when she came to visit! From the moment we walked in we were amazed at all the attention to detail, and how beautiful the space was. You could tell that everything from the walls, to the bamboo shaped glassware, and even the lighting/ceiling was carefully curated to make the space unique in an upscale but approachable way. Plus the soundtrack mix was on point 👌🏼 And when they asked if we were celebrating anything, they really were asking and did more than just put a card on the table to acknowledge it. They took the time to make it special and the Chef came out to greet my mom Happy Birthday with a cute little dessert. It was so hard to decide what to get, but the the food and drinks were yummy and so picture perfect when they hit the table. Presentation matched the service also, and our server was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable - about both the food and little fun facts about the food, how it's prepared and why based on the Chef's personal life growing up. It made the experience all the more memorable!
Wow! The entire staff is friendly and each person is very knowledgeable and passionate. The food was so fresh and tasty! We had the Pork Lumpia, Pork Inihaw Filipino Style BBQ Skewer, and Sizzling Sisig. We sat right at the counter and it was an incredible experience. Highly recommend booking a reservation here - such a treat!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I’m going to put my family in the hands of another, they better be good hands. And the team at Carabao Filipino Eatery absolutely delivered. The Filipino culture, beauty, and love were alive and humming in every detail. From the food to the atmosphere to the people serving it. Standing ovation to Jade, Matt, and their incredible team of angels. We’ll be back soon. And next time, we’re bringing even more family.
We drove up from Los Angeles to check out Carabao and OMG we are so glad we did!!! The first walk up was cute. The dining room looks so cute with the lighting, fixtures, open kitchen, and decor. The wait staff was very friendly. Eric greeted us at the front door and gave us a warm welcome. Our waiter Brandon aka Cousin from the Bear tv show 😆 was fantastic! He was extremely helpful and very personable. My wife was celebrating her birthday and the dodgers were playing game 7 of the World Series… he was “here for it” haha. Absolutely loved this place. The food was incredible. We had the kare kare and bistek and they were perfection. I can’t explain it. The chef’s take on these dishes were refreshing and perfect on the palate. We will be back. My only complaint is this place is in Napa and not in Los Angeles where we could go every week. Keep it up Carabao!!!! Love from Chris & Yvonne
Beautiful space and definitely in the elevated-casual category. The dishes were thoughtfully presented and the flavors were familiar yet refined. It’s like modern Filipino with attention to detail. The server introduced each dish as it came out, which I appreciated. I don’t remember if the wait staff introduced himself at the start, but the service overall was friendly and the pacing was good. Great spot if you want an elevated take on Filipino comfort food in a relaxed but stylish setting.
Went for dinner and really enjoyed it. I loved the adobo deviled eggs, barako coffee, cassava, and the avocado float — all were excellent. The sisig was good, though I personally would’ve liked it spicier. I understand the restaurant may need to cater to American tastes. The kare-kare sauce was a bit salty for me and was looking for more of the peanut taste but I appreciated the creative twist with the oxtail croquette-style meat — very inventive. Would love to come back and try their spaghetti!
Have been hearing good things about Carabao so had to try it. Went with a friend for a late lunch. We shared the Adobo Deviled eggs, pork skewers, sizzling sisig and bistek with garlic rice, and finished with the Ube creme brulee. The eggs had a little of that great vinegar zing you are used to with Adobo; the pork skewers were tender and flavorful on their own, but adding the sauce added even more flavor and a bit of heat. The sisig was nice and crispy, with layers of flavor and texture; the bistek was flavorful with multiple layers of different onion preparations. The steak for me was too rare, and the pieces I had were filled with gristel, which took away from the experience for me. The Ube creme brulee is a must have! Delicious. The calmansi drink and root beer were delicious and refreshing. Sevice was amazing and the restaurant is light and airy, but small and got pretty noisy. I would go back to try other items for sure.
Came here to take my Mom and family to try some quality Filipino food. Prepared slightly different from our normal traditional food that we have known since we were young. So if you are looking for memories of your childhood you might not find it here. The food certainly did not bring me back home, it instead brought me to what could be a future for Filipino Cuisine. I have come to understand that Filipinos adapt well in many situations and I believe that Carabao has shown me just that. Kare Kare: Peanut butter stew was great. It had many of the flavors of old and new. The stew it self was more like a sauce or gravy that the rest of the meal was sitting on. The balled up meat has excellent textures and every bite has a crunch whatever part of the meat you get. It was consistent through out with every bite. It was served with Bok choy and egg plant. Though It was hard to tell but I think there was a little bit of bagoong. Bistek: Something I've known as beefsteak. Was the most satisfying dish I have had here. This was flavorful and the meat was tender and cooked with pink in the middle. Normally this is prepared with thinly sliced beef but this one is make with a New York strip. It had the most familiar flavor that was reduced down to a thick sauce that compliment the beef. The beef itself did not seem like it was marinated into this sauce so the beef was reliant on this sauce to complete the experience. The serving really is enough for just one person. Overall one of the most memorable one for me. Sinigang: Unfortunately since there we so many selections I was not able to try this one. Everyone else who had tried it, stated that is was much too sour for their liking. Maybe due to having more quality ingredients and actually using tamarinds or not enough saltines brought up this result for them. Ube Creme Brule: An Excellent desert to end the night. It was very light and refreshing. Not too sugary or sweet, and has a pleasant texture. It was almost like Flan and Panna cotta mixed together. We've had the appetizers as well like Fresh and Pork Lumpia, some had noodles like spaghetti. The stuffed egg plant was alright all the flavors were there but the texture can be hard for others. Fresh lumpia was wrapped in crepe instead of the actual wrapper, It was alright. Shout out to Eunice, who was our server for the evening. Thank you for serving us and really enjoy your positive vibe and attitude. Lylah was drawn in by you and it was really cute to see her come in for a hug at the end of the night. Thank you for the wonderful evening.
I tried to book dinner at Carabao Napa but it was full, so we went for brunch instead. We arrived around 12:15 and got seated quickly, which was nice. The place is bright and cute, with bilao on the ceiling and a carabao mural — subtle Pinoy touches. The brunch menu was limited, which was a bit disappointing after driving over an hour. I had the Longganisa Breakfast Sandwich — tasty overall, though I didn’t love the cheesy scrambled egg. My husband’s Tapa Silog Bowl was on the salty side, but the pickled veggies helped balance it out. He enjoyed his San Miguel Beer, and I tried the Pakwan drink ($10), though I still prefer my homemade version. Our server Emilio was great — friendly and attentive — which made up for the so-so food. Next time, I’ll definitely try dinner since the brunch didn’t quite have that “Filipino food with a twist” I was hoping for.
Dinuguan is good, it has the savory and vinegar flavors i’m looking for and the pork is tender but I find the chicharon topping too hard to chew and not crispy at all. The kare-kare is alright; they deep-fried the breaded oxtail and the tripe, which is unique and does elevate the dish. However, I’m not a fan of the coconut milk/oil flavor in kare-kare. It’s also a bit too salty for me, and I didn’t get the usual peanut taste. The siomai was dry, cold, and the sauce is salty—it could use more sourness in the sauce. The fresh lumpia was alright, i like its crepe. For dessert, we had halo-halo and cassava cake. The cassava cake was good, but the halo-halo wasn’t as enjoyable since it lacked flavor. Overall, the service and atmosphere were commendable, and the presentation of the food was both impressive and artistic. I appreciate that the restaurant brings its own creative interpretation to classic Filipino dishes, and it’s worth being open to experiencing these variations. That said, for diners seeking the traditional flavors of these dishes, some selections may feel different from the familiar taste.
Here’s what we ordered: • Tortang talong - definitely loved the different presentation and taste was good • Kinilaw - good but it should be considering they used hamachi • Smoked chicken wings inasal - bad, overcooked & possibly over-marinated which made it tough • Pancit palabok - good but tbh not significantly better than any other pancit palabok you can get elsewhere • Crispy kare-kare - definitely mixed feelings about this since I do appreciate bagoong was not needed at all but the croquette way of doing the oxtail meaning it was breaded, personally I felt was not complimentary to the sauce • Ube crème brûlée - omg, so good, definitely must get • Sago gulaman - perfectly sweetened & loved the use of mini tapioca balls • Calamansi americano - ok • Pour over barako coffee - ok but the serving was generous that they gave my husband a to-go cup Did not appreciate being charged a ‘platform fee’ for the convenience of scanning a QR code to pay our bill. I’m sure it was a percentage of the bill which for us amounted to $5. Heck, if I knew they were going to charge for it, I could’ve stood up and gone to them to pay for the bill. You made it convenient for us to pay the bill but did not put a disclaimer that you were going to charge us for the convenience. Was it worth to go to Napa for? Yes. Was the food worth what we paid for it? Unfortunately not for us - we didn’t end the meal with a wow-this-is-elevated-Filipino-food feeling. We could’ve eaten at Manam in Manila for at least 3x of what we paid for here and been happier. And also our bill was more than what we paid for a multi-course one Michelin star meal at Toyo again in Manila. I understand cost of food in SF vs Manila is not apples to apples but this is just to underscore that elevated Filipino food is not yet quite here in SF/Napa.
