The place is really nice and the customer service is lovely. I was in San Diego for vacation and went there two days in a row and the lady remembered us. The donuts are soft and rich with flavor best donuts I've ever had. There is a wide variety of not just donuts but other foods and drinks. Loved it a lot, definitely would recommend and go back. 💖

Winchell's dozen is a fantastic deal. Way better quality than Dunkin which gets the inky fake taste in the frosting. Everything that I've had here is exceptional. Coffee is delicious. Ham and cheese croissant is flaky buttery goodness. With all that AND being open 24 hours this place is a no-brainer. Still open since the 1940's for a reason!
Bake goodies are better in the morning but visiting my mom I pass 4 donut stores after 1 p.m. and this one has the freshest donuts of them all.
This place has been consistent for years. My mom used to take me here when I was little and she went here when she was young. Whenever I get donuts, I come here. They're always stocked, the donuts are delicious, and they're not expensive. They're not just air and sugar either. The donuts are hefty but still airy and delicious. Wouldn't go anywhere else for donuts.
Has been ages since I was at a Winchells but stopped in today for lunch. The donuts in the case looked fresh and oh so inviting but I stuck to my guns and ordered pastrami on a whole wheat toasted bagel. What a great sandwich! I should have ordered 3 of them....just my habit of overeating I guess. Left without buying any donuts so I obviously have a little self control left.
Clean atmosphere inside the place and friendly customer service as they was not busy inside and many new different food item selections I have never seen before. As it's been a long time since I have been in a Winchell Donut house, as used to be a lot in the Bay Area.
I recently went to the store in Point Loma for a donut and some coffee. The store is still open during the virus shutdown. I was so amazed at the wonderful donuts on display that I bought a dozen. The store is beautiful, The donuts are top notch, the service is perfect and the coffee is terrific! I haven’t had donuts and coffee this good in a long time. I stop in every time I’m in Point Loma.
Staff is always friendly, prices are always reasonable, and the donuts are the BEST!! It's the only donut shop that I know of that makes the world's best Buttermilk Glaze donut.... No exaggeration I give them 10 stars just for the donut...
Got 6 dozen donuts, and 120 donut holes. It was a lot but for an important occasion. The man who helped us was very gracious about working with us and such a large order. We didn't feel stressed or pressured to hurry up even though soon after we arrived it became very busy. To be fair, there was no other customers before we arrived, so he initially was relaxed. He certainly stepped up the game when customers appeared.
When I found out they have a Winchells in Fallbrook, I had to go. This donut place gave me “nourishment” growing up on the tiny island of Guam. My parents used to buy winchells donuts once a week on a Saturday or Sunday to be served as part of breakfast. This winchells definitely did not disappoint. Everything looked fresh and tasty. I personally didn’t taste any, but purchased two dozen of my favorites to share as I previously had breakfast before going to Winchells. I will say, that everyone that did have a donut said they were delicious. Bottom line: would I go there again? 110% yes! I wanted to try everything. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient.
I was extremely pleased coming in this Winchell's Jose help me out dream Lee well I am well pleased with this fact and customer service I spent 55.77. Jose stop what he's doing to serve me and was very helpful and really light and help extremely I spent $55.17 for a box of donuts donut holes and and three orange juices is fresh-squeezed that is... well yeah yeah kudos 👌😎👍 to Jose excellent job.. Ok
This place definitely has the best donuts around. They also offer beagles with cream cheese, and breakfast sandwiches. You have a choice of different drinks including fresh squeezed orange juice. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. The small dinning room is clean and so car I have not seen dirty tables when we've gone in.

Nothing fancy, but great fresh donuts clean environment. Never disappoints.
In the early morning when people are getting coffee and breakfast before work, the joy is infectious! Employees knew their regular costumers and there were many kind "Good morning"s exchanged, as well as laughter and even singing from the back of the shop believe it or not! I only come here now and then, but it felt like an especially happy visit today. Thank you for the smiles!

This place is always clean and is open 24 hours! They have a large variety of options, not only donuts. They have bagels, croissants, fresh squeezed juices, milkshakes, smoothies, coffee, cocoa, soda, water, muffins, wraps, bagel sandwiches. I would have given 5 stars, but the employees are rude! They make you feel unwanted! They just stare at you with a serious look, very unwelcoming!
Winchell's still has the best donuts🤤...just like back in the '80s!...nostalgia for sure
We went in just for donuts & ended up ordering breakfast sandwiches that were great. Very nice staff who made sure we felt taken care of.

Not the value it once was when donuts were very cheap comfort foods. A dozen is like $20 now! Still, you can't beat a Winchell's apple fritter when you crave one. A occasional guilty pleasure of mine. Especially while killing time waiting for the 963 bus to Paradise Hills across the street.

When I got in here this morning, I showed them that the tables were dirty and I got the ugliest face as if I wasn't supposed to say anything. When I say the RBF is crazy in here I mean it's crazy 😧. I hate to bring race in it but it's hard not too.
My favorite is their fresh squeezed OJ and also the mixed juice mixed with beet.
Doughnuts are good but the coffee is weak and low quality
This used to be my family's & my go to place. So sad to say I will never come back! Staff is horrible. Rude, and ignorant. I don't know if they are under new management or what. But when I used to go there was a very nice lady who used to work there, have not seen her in a while. She used to always greet us with a smile, asking how we have been & interested in our well being. Anyway, I stopped going for a few months in my attempt to diet. & when I went back was for the holidays to buy donuts to take to my family. Let me just say, it was the worst experience I have ever had there. Not only did the staff not know whether to talk to me in Spanish or English but they were very sarcastic & flat out rude. Every donut shop I have gone to has a sugar free option for diabetics. Which I always ask for to take for my grandma. When I asked not only did I have to ask 3 times what I was looking for. Once in English, twice in Spanish. They looked at me like I was crazy and answered me in Spanish saying "we're not doctors here, we can't tend to what you're looking for". Now last time I checked I'm no doctor, but I'm not ignorant. And I know that there are sugar free options in any desserts. I know this because not only do I have diabetic family members but I worked at a retirement home where 50 percent of the residents were diabetics as well. I am absolutely dissapointed with this shop. All the new staff is horrible. Badly mannered & plain out rude.
Just went there this morning, bought 3 donuts and a medium coffee $9.46. Immediately noticed the difference between two donuts that were done a day before and 1 that was fresh. check for softness and avoid stiff donut.
The donuts at Winchell's Donut House are consistently good — fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you expect when you stop in for something sweet. But the croissants are extremely overpriced. Paying $4 for a single croissant just doesn’t make sense when you compare it to options like Costco Bakery, where a 12-pack of freshly baked croissants is around $7. When you do the math, the pricing gap is impossible to ignore. Great donuts, friendly service, but the croissant pricing really needs a rethink.
Nothing special about the donuts. They are better than donuts from a supermarket but not better than Krispy Kreme or Donut Bar. If you just want some decent donuts at a good price you cant beat it. Although the place smelled of cleaning supplies and not donuts which almost made me walk out.

It took so long to get service and if it hadn't been for a bilingual customer next to me the employee would not have been able to fill my order correctly. She seemed so confused and unable to comprehend that I wanted 2 dozen small sprinkle donuts. Not that complicated. She tried to give me 14 little ones and a box of big ones. No idea how she came up with that but trying to correct it was SO confusing. And in the end she finally conveyed that their "dozen" was actually 14 of the small donuts. No way to know that if not a frequent customer or Spanish speaking. And the price was high IMO. Spent over 25$ on little donuts for my son's class.
Very glad this establishment has been here for decades and is still active in this location. But today's visit was below subpar. Waited 10 minutes in a line of the 2 people in front of me. Order a decaf only for the employee to inform me a few seconds later that they don't have any 😖 They don't even have plastic knives on top of that to cut my sandwich. At least inform every customer that walks in the door about the absence of decaf so no time is wasted.
On Mon Dec 30 2024 mid afternoon the wife and I were in the area of East Plaza Winchells doughnut shop from Imperial Beach. We saw the doughnut shop and haven't had any for years and remembered how good they were we decided to stop and take a half dozen home with us.We purchased 6 pastries;4 jelly filled and 2 chocolate twist.Last night the wife bit into a raspberry filled pastry and she said it tasted weird and wouldn't eat it.This morning I had a chocolate twist and it tasted weird like there was something in the dough that shouldn't be there as time passed a nasty taste developed in my mouth around my tongue and taste buds as did the same with my wifes. It is tasting terrible. There is a burning sensation around and inside my mouth.I hope it doesn't make me sick.We had a hard time getting the person to come to the front to wait on us.The wife called out several tmes.We were there 10 minutes before she came out from the back. There was only 1 customer in there sitting at a table eating.Very poor service and poorly made pastries. That's at Winchells Dougnut shop off E Plaza. I would appreciate being notified by the management,I'd like to know what is wrong with your doughnuts. They never tasted like that before as a matter of fact, no doughnut has.
Lack of customer service. The lady didn't even give me options on what type of bagel I wanted. I spent almost 18.00 on cold food and had to eat in my car cause the area was dirty. They had many workers but the tables were filthy. I won't be visiting this location again! !
Due to Winchell being essentially a chain, the atmosphere is the same as it is in any winchells very clean and regular for a donut shop. However, the food and the service at this particular winchells was far below average. If you noticed, I didn’t even do any stars for the service because it was far below average. When we walked in, it took us 10 minutes to even be greeted at the counter. The employee was very rude, never said hello and initially began to get ready to touch the donuts with her hands instead of tongs. She also avoided eye contact. At first, I chalked it up to maybe she’s having a bad day, but as another customer came in with what seemed to be the same demographic as her, her entire mood changed, she was happy. She greeted the other customer and seemed to be very pleasant however, when dealing with me, she seemed to be very aggressive and rude. Then when it came time to pay, she snatched my card out of my hand and seemed very irritated. I will not be coming back to this establishment.
$21 dollars for a Dozen doughnuts! I have been coming to this place for over 15 years and today is my last day ever coming to this place! HOW AND WHY ARE YOU PRICE GAUGING! 100% unethical and completely wrong! You’re charging more than what you’re paying people in your store! Boycott this store and force them to lower their prices! Don’t give us the story about how it’s hard to keep a business. Your food cost more than gas, milk, toilet paper! Shall I keep going!! This is a treat not something that’s supposed to break your bank and yes $21 dollars for 12 doughnuts sure darn does when they used to cost less than 14 bucks, I dealt with that price increase from when it was 11 bucks just before Covid! Don’t go here you’re getting robbed!!!!!!
First time going in here, and it was horrible. The lady behind the counter was so rude & constantly rolling her eyes. She actually ignored me when I asked how the egg is cooked on the sandwich... Which IS MICROWAVED. The cheese looked and tasted like plastic. The whole thing was completely trash and the customer service was even worse. Won't be coming here again.
Manager told me she just wanted to go home so she purposely made less donuts so that they can close down early on New Year’s. Normally when I come here the staff are very slow and do not move with the purpose usually takes them about 10 minutes to handle one customer, very disappointed manager didn’t even want to be there. It was upset that corporate made them stay open so she purposely made less donuts. That sucks for a customer like me.
I just had a really bad experience today, 07/22/23, came here as a 2nd choice since dunking was closed already. 1st time and last, I approached the man at the register to purchase and my son asked politely about some breakfast items thinking that since its a 24 hour establishment they should be able to help me, but with a frowning face and almost angry he said no. Probably could had done it but too irritated to do it. I got off work and my son as well almost midnight and just wanted a snack before going to sleep, but the other issue was when asking about the single item bags that they provide when buying 2 or 1 item he almost in a screaming voice that I couldn't take them since I already had a box of donuts. Which I proceeded to tell I needed to separate some donuts and didnt mind paying for the bags. The whole time was there I felt unappreciated and unwelcome. Even though buying a few items he is was still rude. You are at the night shift to provide a service and not give customers an attitude just because you were craving a midnight snack.
Terrible customer service!! Today is 3/7/2019 and I brought my family here around 7pm to grab some donuts and when I was inquiring about the jelly filled donuts I was informed by a young lady with glasses that one row was strawberry, the other was apple with a row of blueberry filled and the next row was chocolate filled with vanilla. Looking forward to bite into my strawberry filled donut after purchasing 1/2 dozen I was surprised to taste the tart filling of lemon. I go to the the young lady to inform her of the mishap and when I told her it was lemon she rudely responds back and says, “I told you it was lemon!” I return back to my seat with my family and taken back a bit by the bad customer service. I attempted to let such response go by deciding to move on and have my apple filled crumb donut to be duped a second time and have no apple filling at all inside. Upset I go back to inform the cashier about both mistakes. Not willing to fully own her mistakes she says she's willing to replace the apple filled donut but not the lemon. Now mind you we are talking of $2.50 worth of donuts so this complaint isn't about the Money or the donuts, at this point it's about the terrible customer service. Although, the manager attempted to make this wrong right by replacing the one apple donut instead of both errors I decided on principle that I wasn't going to accept a partial right after being treated in such manner. If they decided to make this right and fix both errors I would have accepted, but on a partial redemption and rudeness by this cashier and her manager unwilling to make this right by replacing my donuts and informing me, “the customer” that such service is unacceptable. She also mentioned that the rude cashier who served us has been there at this establishment for 7 years, 7 years at this establishment with that type of customer service and you still have a job!?!? Either management has no clue of what type of employees they have there or they just don’t care. Because of these responses from the young cashier and the older manager on duty I decided to file this complaint. I will never come back and inform anyone from our neighborhood to never go to this donut shop.
The lady who rings you up will automatically add a tip for no reason if paying with card. Watch out for these choosing beggar employees.
Just went in with my 4 year old daughter and ordered a half dozen. Upon asking for a raised chocolate the woman helping tried to give me a day old donut when they had freshly made donuts on display. I've been a head baker for both Winchells and Yum Yum Donuts so im aware of what fresh donuts look like and how they try to cheat people with their day olds. I let the lady know that I was a head baker and knew what day olds looked like she gave me attitude before giving the fresh donuts, I then ordered the rest not thiking much about it but when I got home I realized she dug her nail in all the donuts which is disgusting! My poor kid could have her treats because she was also grossed out. I am livid that this women would do this knowing achild was going to eat it this donuts. Wish I could add a pick
We just relocated to San Diego for a visit 02/01/23 to get out of the cold from Pennsylvania. I grew up here in National City and went to Winchell's. The staff here isn't friendly to all customers just to the Hispanic Customers they were taken care of spoke to in Spanish. We aren't Hispanic but didn't get the same treatment. We asked for napkins the girl behind the counter gave us 2 😳 Wow! So Now we are going to come to Yum Yum Donuts from now on! They are Friendly to whoever comes in their store.
I don’t leave reviews much, but this one will be the exception. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable buying something in my life. The lady behind the counter needs to treat people better, she is rude and did not hold back from making a remark for ordering additional food…

Not very pleasant. No ate the donuts and the whole box went to the trash. Waste of my money.
Horrible customer service came in Monday July 21st 2025 at 2:30pm the women at the front counter very rude, and terrible service. All though she was very pleasant to the women before me. Please hire employees whom have an ounce of self esteem and treat all customers with basic respect. Service was so bad I walked out as she was preparing my food. I will NOT be returning.
Both of the older ladies were extremely rude and acted as if we were bothering them. I purchased a fountain beverage and it was flat and tasted horrible. I asked for a refund but was not able to get one due to her not having the knowledge on how to give a refund. She replaced my large fountain drink with a 12oz. can soda. A feeble attempt to correct a wrong. This was around 2p on a Tuesday. I would recommend this place if you want to be treated poorly.
Cleanliness is questionable. Workers nails had black residue under them... Not recommended to anyone who doesn't wanna get sick...
I just came out of this place Jan,22,26 Blanca was super super rude to me and my toddler I asked here if they had a restaurant for my toddler to use she said no I got 2 donuts and a orange juice I told here can I just leave them here for 2min just to run to my car for him to go rude she said no I can’t came back took me 2 min only for him to use the restroom my toddler taste the orange juice and he did the most sour face ever so I tasted it man it was so sour you can’t drink it I asked if I can get a refund she said no we don’t give out refunds because my food is good and we taste everything look at your videos you see my toddler face he did it was so so awful so I asked again like I really need a refund on my drink at least this is so sour my son can’t drink this he has epilepsy look at your video he had his epilepsy gel pen on him she was so rude she’s like well it will not be from my juice it be on him what look it up yes if the orange juice is way to sour it can trigger a seizure after she threw me my money so rude my toddler is only 3 years old and they don’t give out refunds even if you’re there and never went out and just did a sip test so sad if the owner has people working like this and children with disabilities
All I wanted was a French twist glaze donut, it was so small, stale & expensive. $3 & some change, I'll stick with my regular donut shop. However the guy working was sweet as pie
There was a hair in the dough! Told the baker and she can’t see it, clearly she needs glasses. And rudely asked if money back is what I want. I want a croissant without hair, that’s all.
Not a single option without animal exploitation and cruelty in it. Bummer to see. Not a single vegan item. 💀🚩 Not to mention the woman was so ridiculously rude. For no reason rude. Maybe they are having a bad day/life 🤷♀️ August 2025 I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS. ❌
