Stopped in here for a quick drink to cool off after the St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery tour. We love the Ritz Home Made potato chips and the truffle fries are the best. We had their hurricane and the davenportni was excellent! I probably coulda stayed there day if it wasn’t for having to go see more in this city. The ONLY miss was the ketchup - NO HEINZ ketchup is gross!
The music was great, drinks were even better. You'll pay Ritz-level pricing, but the service and music are on par with what you pay. For GoT fans, they have a scotch flight that pairs up with different houses in the show. Oddly enough, the Targaryen scotch was great for the first six sips, but then became disappointing and rushed in the last two.
Third floor of the Ritz Carlton and the perfect paragon of a New Orleans jazz bar. We showed up around 9pm on a Saturday night and got a table in the outer area; swooped a better table near the stage when we saw people leave. Expensive drinks but the atmosphere is what you're paying for.
Went for Tea on Saturday for my bf's birthday and it was amazing. @ritzcarltonneworleans does Afternoon Tea every day of the week. If you want to be extra bougie, you can upgrade to a Royal Tea which comes with a glass of champagne or mimosa. Saturdays & Sundays they have a harpist live for tea as well- which sounds absolutely divine [& she started with a HBD tune for my sweets]. Anyway, I had never been to afternoon tea before and I was beyond pleased. We 1st picked out two tea flavors and were served 3 courses of small, savory and sweet bites. I would 100% recommend this experience. 1st course starts with Petite sandwiches in delicate appetizers •Smoked Salmon Mousse and Dill in a Cucumber Cup (very refreshing) •Tomato Basket with Heirloom Cherry Tomato, Whipped Burrata, Pesto and Parmesan Crisp •Roasted Fig, Goat Cheese, Honey Drizzle on a Thyme Blini (great with a drizzle of honey) •Coronation Chicken Salad in Curry Cup (personal favorite) •Crostini with Prosciutto, Mozzarella, Fried Basil •Creole Deviled Egg and Caviar 2nd course:SCONE COURSE Freshly Baked Scones with Housemade Lemon Curd, Jam and Devonshire Cream 3rd course Petite pastries & deserts •Lemongrass Passion Tart •Chocolate Tart •Honey Peach Slice •Orange Tea Cake, Raspberry Confit •Chocolate Caramélia Eclair
It is a New Orleans Legend - An upscale jazz Lounge with Music, Traditional New Orleans accommodations, a Beautiful Bar and Exellent Cocktails. It is accompanied by some local favorite foods and Superior service. It all has the making a wonderful evening for a couple, for romance, for dancing and celebrating or just for relaxing with friends The Music is consistently great. It is a jewel!! If you are staying at the Ritz, it is a must do and if not, you should try to spend an evening or part of an evening at the Davenport Lounge. It is the essence of the beauty of New Orleans. Welcoming to everyone, you will find friendly faces and those who like to enjoy the finer things in life. The only drawback is the size and I really think they need to find a way to expand into the restaurant at least in the evenings as it is often crowded and many who would love to enjoy have to wait or are turned away. You can try it for lunch sometime. It is not quite the same but pleasant!!
While the Davenport Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans serves drinks, snacks, breakfast and hosts jazz music on certain days, our personal favorite is “afternoon tea.” Reservations are required and they are currently only doing it on Saturdays, but this is one of our favorite things to do in New Orleans. Even if we aren’t staying at the Ritz, we still make sure to find time to enjoy this awesome 3 course treat consisting of savories, scones, and desserts. Also, there are several dozen teas to choose from and everyone we have tried has been amazing! This is just a great experience with great tastes in the plush and beautiful Davenport Lounge. We should also mention that the service has always been outstanding as well.
Great escape from the sights and sounds of the French Quarter and indulge in a relaxed, unrushed pace and delightful bites provided by Terriell and the Ritz-Carlton staff. Choose from a variety of regular and caffine-free teas, start with one type of tea with the savory bites, and another with the second course of sweets. For an additional $10, upgrade to the Royal tea service that includes a glass of champagne to toast on a special occasion. Each reservation is set-up on a separate table with a long couch and two chairs for a semi-private experience for you and your guests to enjoy, but also allows you to engage with near by guests if you choose. Please let your server know if there are dietary restrictions or if you are celebrating a special occasion.
The single best place for live entertainment on this side of the French Quarter. Classy & comfortable atmosphere. Jeremy Davenport & his band provide extraordinary performances five evenings per week and won’t disappoint. Located inside the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Canal St. I spent my whole weekend enjoying this venue v/s conquering the chaos on Bourbon (which didn’t appear to have any jazz clubs from what I can tell). Davenport Lounge for the win!!
I stop by this place at 7pm to listen to the band , and it turned out to be such a beautiful experience with a glass of wine , I then ordered the crab Dip which was soooooo delicious and set everything TOGETHER omg I couldn’t stop thinking about it I also used some of the homemade chips with the dip as well , I also tried their bowl of gumbo which was full of shrimp and very tasteful . This place is a wonderful environment filled great bartenders and servers and great quality food . You would not be disappointed if you are I suggest you do a self check .
Last year marked 10 years since my father-in-law’s passing. He loved New Orleans and beignets, but never got a chance to try the ones at The Ritz. During our stay we had the best time sharing memories and reminiscing about my father-in-law with Byron at the bar. Byron was an amazing bartender and gave us such a special memory to honor my father-in-law. I genuinely cannot recommend him enough!
Unforgettable afternoon tea at the Davenport Lounge. Incredible desserts, beautiful music, and above all — extraordinary service. Thank you, Chef Sally Buck (Hyeongmi Buck), for the birthday treats, and Jerri for the thoughtful baby gifts. You made my pregnant wife’s birthday truly magical.
Incredible service from Ms. Terri - she truly made us feel welcome and pampered. We enjoyed all of the savory and sweet nibbles - and Terri brought out beignets for my birthday, and a gift! So thoughtful. My kids thoroughly enjoyed their first tea experience, and we look forward to coming again. The live harp music made for such a serene atmosphere, as well!
Great red fish tacos and homemade potato chips
Cool place, wine list could use a boost.
Beautiful hotel bar! Old School at its best
Great place to listen to some great music in New Orleans.
Great place for a specialty cocktail and live music.
Everytime I am in New Orleans. I find myself at the Davenport Lounge
Awesome spot, would definitely come back.
A classy place. Great music.
Even without the band playing it's very relaxing
Atmosphère chaleureuse et très agréable. Service parfait et de très bon niveau !
Very comfortable jazz night . Staff are very attentive
Brad our server was great!!! So nice!
The band is enjoyable, the atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable and romantic if you're lucky enough to share a couch with your special someone. Definitely have the chips! They're addictive!
Great experience here. The margaritas were strong. Music was great. Very comfortable lounge.
A must visit for the jazz music and amazing food. Try getting a dinner reservation at the restaurant if you're not able to find an empty chair, the restaurant has great views of the stage too
The servers working on 1/27 from 2:30-4:00pm were AMAZING! So kind and made us feel really welcome.
Great jazz, great room with comfy seats. Stop here at least once every visit to NOLA. Seriously, you can't go wrong with this spot.
A place in New Orleans that is definitely worth visiting! Great live music!
I love the atmosphere of the lounge. The food was very good and our server, Boris, was outstanding.
Classy upscale bar with live local jazz music.Great place for drinks after a night downtown or shows at the Saenger.
Pricey, but great music and a great atmosphere. Jason the bartender took care of us and he was fantastic.
The Ritz-Carlton never disappoints. The music, the food, and the decor make this an amazing place.
Great service lounge dining elevated. Jeremy Davenport is a brilliant artist!
Great for out of towners to listen to jazz. $5.00 validated parking at the Ritz.
Always a great time here enjoying some great jazz music and socializing with different folks!
Classy! Wonderful cool jazz, good cocktails and tasty appetizers.
Very classy lounge snuggled away @ The Ritz Carlton Hotel on its 3rd floor.
Service is superb! Garrett has proven to be a very helpful and attentive host!!!
As others have said it's pricey but great music and atmosphere.
Strong, delicious cocktails and the best beignets we had on our trip. Came too late for the jazz but had a great time chatting with other guests and the bartenders took great care of us
After several failed attempts at Jambalaya (horrible) in the French Quarter... I came to the Davenport Lounge and scored a homerun with the Paella, not as spicy as I like, but it was a wonderful dish. Bonus... live music, with great ambience. Highly suggest making this a stop for a relaxing evening without the craziness of Bourbon Street.
Great Entertainment. Great drinks. Best beignet I have ever eaten.
The jazz was great, beautiful ambiance as expected. But the service was the best part! Our waiter Nais was nice, considerate, and approachable. He answered all of our questions and took care of us. On top of the performance, I would return to the Davenport Lounge because of his thoughtful service.
10/10 spot to grab a drink in NOLA - thanks to Sean at the front door and Byron and Brittany at the bar!!!
The Davenport Lounge is now my go-to place for a relaxing evening. We arrived around 6pm on a Thursday evening and there was still plenty of seating. The band was really good, but must admit I was a tad disappointed that Jeremy Davenport wasn’t playing. The service was great all around. My drink was okay, but I would probably keep it simple the next time around. We ordered several shareables and they were all good. The jam on the cheese plate was amazing and paired perfectly with the fruit and cheese. We shared the carrot doberge cake for dessert and I was quite intrigued by the lavender ice cream. I can’t wait to go back.
Music was incredible. I'm a musician and was impressed by this group's musicality, technique, nuance, and subtle touch. They brought a refreshing new translation to our standards. Free show with the price of drinks, and if you're an a budget you can nurse a beer and enjoy a great show.
Unexpectedly cool bar. Lovely cocktails and great jazz with very friendly service. Nicer than a lot of other cocktail places that get high ratings - 15 bucks a cocktail when it's an artisan one seems a pretty good deal to sit in such a lovely place.
Beautiful place in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the French Quarter with some classy jazz. Jazz starts at 9 pm but get there by 7:30 or 8:00 and enjoy a drink or two to make sure you have a seat when the music starts.
Return customer. Super welcoming and friendly staff. Wish there was more New Orleanean food (only gumbo that I saw, which is fantastic, but only seafood gumbo, which I'm allergic to), but otherwise, wonderful place.
No food complaints, competent, but not memorable. Jazz band amazing. NYC in NOLA (but in a great way). Great service.
Cozy atmosphere. Attentive wait staff. Food excellent. Live jazz a very nice touch. A bit pricey, but it's the RITZ! We had a lot of fun.
Loved the live jazz experience. Ritz is nice and fancy. The band was awesome. The spirits were rising. The attendants are really amazing. The deserts look straight out of MasterChef kitchen. The only down side we had was limited seating so we actually couldn't watch the band perform as we were behind a couch. But besides that it was a really great experience!
Got here at 9:25 Thursday night before the Super Bowl in N.O. and the band stopped at 9:30. No music after that, odd. The band leader and other band members appeared to have a very bad relationship from what I could see. Sad, a great opportunity for good jazz music, a.great crowd was present, very sad.
a very good experience! very beautiful restaurant and quality products
Great music. Comfortable seating. Great service, but a lot of talking (yelling) over the music. Come here to relax and chat vs. listen to jazz.
Always my hang out and good music and drinks .Not to mention home of a $21 grill cheeses sandwich, ok I know 21 bucks but its is by far the best 4 cheeses and carmelized onions .so f#@#ing good.not to mention the bartend know my drink before I even sit down.
The beignets were amazing, much better than cafe du mond. However their espresso was not very good at all.
The atmosphere at this place is fantastic, especially during the holidays, but the service is shockingly poor, arguably the worst I’ve experienced in the U.S. We had to repeatedly ask for menus and eventually had to grab one ourselves from another table. Our waitress was so inattentive that we gave up and started walking up and ordering directly from the bar. She never returned to our table. Later in the evening, once the staff noticed we were frequenting the bar (and tipping well), things got even more chaotic. Multiple waiters suddenly appeared, each asking me to put my card on file. Somehow, this resulted in four separate checks, an organizational disaster. It was clear they were overwhelmed and uncoordinated. Despite the horrendous service, the live jazz band saved the night. They perform every Christmas Eve and were the highlight of the experience. I hope the management can one day get their act together because the greatness of this venue is being completely undermined by its dysfunctional service.
After having a great dinner in the Garden District, we came to the Davenport Lounge (My first time) for what I was told would be an awesome jazz group, with the well known Jeremy Davenport leading the band, singing and playing trumpet. The building is great, classy, lots to see in the hallway with decor, statues, etc. The lounge was pretty full, but we did get the last empty seats. As it happens, people come and go and we got to move to a couch closer to the stage. The staff was attentive, and top notch... I appreciated their effort. The drinks were great, too. THE BAND: You can tell these guys have played together a long time. Great music, professional, tight. I could tell it was pretty practiced sets they were playing, even the "ad libs" between songs seemed like they had been delivered many times. Jeremy is an awesome trumpeteer, and the rest of the group... fantastic. Just... not exciting. People were dancing and having a good time, though. One thing I will say about the furniture there... it's old, and worn. Even to the point of flat cushions on chairs. Might want to upgrade!! All in all, a good experience, though.
The Davenport Lounge is located inside of The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans. It's named after the lounge's headliner jazz musician, Jeremy Davenport. The lounge serves as the hotel's lobby bar that also hosts twice daily tea service. ATMOSPHERE: The lounge sits just off of the front desk and courtyard areas. A small stage is perched above the dance floor with a surrounding mix of sofa, low and high top seats. Guests were a mix of privileged youngins to crazy rich seniors, all having a civilized, good time. MENU: Full bar, bar-style apps, dessert, English teas, small bites. ENTERTAINMENT: We took in a portion of Jeremy Davenport's show on a Friday night after not being able to find a decent headliner along bustling St. Claude Ave. Other than being thankful for being indoors due to the 100% humidity, the show was decent and enjoyable. A (possibly hired) couple danced for the crowd and gave us something to focus on besides the band members. WINE: I had a Sauvignon blanc, the spouse some kind of red. Pricey at close to $40 for two glasses but this is The Ritz. A small ramekin of mixed nuts accompanied. SERVICE: Our server was friendly and professional. Drink delivery was quick. OVERALL: There is no need to escape the cool, luxurious confines of your hotel to enjoy jazz music in NOLA.
This rating really doesn't mean the worst. The Mayor of NOLA has made life in the city bad for business. Any other time and Davenport is a hopping place for jazz and upscale cocktails.
Went for the tea with Santa event. It was basically the tea party at some random tables next to the bar. Pretty overpriced for what it was. Go try the other tea with Santa options.
My wife took me to the tea service here. It was pretty fancy. But I don't think it was what she was really looking for when she said she wanted to go to high tea.
Love the atmosphere, drinks were very well poured. The band all looks bored out of their minds. Like they don’t want to be there. Beignets were excellent. Our server, London went above and beyond.
The Davenport lounge offers live Jazz music on Wed/Thurs. from 5:30 to 9:30pm and on Fridays from 9pm to 1am. It's located in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton hotel. The good: A nice, dimly lit lounge atmosphere. No cover charge and pretty good music. The complimentary homemade potato chips are tasty. The restrooms are quite lovely! The bad: Service is slow and prices are outrageous. Also, to be the Ritz the couches and lounge chairs were worn and saggy. It's an okay place to stop by if you're staying at the hotel, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
The place is upscale, comfortable and serves great cocktails as you would expect. Live music. Down points- understaffed, Christmas time and there were not enough wait staff so getting table service was a hassle, they were run off their feet. Live band was decent but the vocalist also didn't know words to some songs and was on his phone googling them (kind of funny). Pricey as you would expect. Many of the patrons were a bit of a drag.... cardigan wearing wealthy types that try to push in line to the bar and have some shocking conversations in hearing of others.....
If you've enjoyed other Ritz-Carlton afternoon teas, prepare to be disappointed by this one. The staff, while friendly, were indifferent, and the service was painfully slow, even for afternoon tea. We waited an absurd 1.5 hours for the scone and dessert course and had to remind the staff, who seemed surprised by our request. The presentation was subpar, with a teapot that looked like it had wet toilet paper sticking out, which was actually the tea bag. None of the food items met expectations, though the tea and live harp music were the only highlights. Overall, this experience was a letdown, and I recommend seeking afternoon tea elsewhere.
The band was amazing. The singer was uninspired... And then Kermit showed up and showed them how its done.
Went for afternoon tea and it was dismal. Most teas have small sandwiches. This one had quarter sized bites of things, and not very good things. And football was playing on the background, throwing off the ambiance. The scones were the highlight. But for $250+ (the included 22% service charge was a surprise), not worth it.
Beautiful Bar - noise level from ignorant patrons make it all but impossible to hear Jazz. Amazing!!
I had eagerly anticipated afternoon tea at the Ritz-Carlton, booking months in advance for what we hoped would be a highlight of our vacation. Unfortunately, the experience was a profound disappointment, failing to meet even basic expectations. To begin, the ambiance was utterly unsuitable for a relaxing tea service. Despite the presence of a harpist, her music was overwhelmed by loud chatter from the adjoining bar and those indulging in a continental breakfast. A proper partition between the bar and the lounge could have created the calm, elegant setting one would expect at an establishment like the Ritz-Carlton. Our reservation was for 11:00 AM, and we were seated promptly. However, that is where the attentiveness ended. Our server approached us at 11:07 AM to take our tea and champagne orders. At 11:30 AM, he brought our champagne – but only managed to fill our glasses halfway, as he ran out. We assumed he’d return with the rest, yet he never did. By 11:45 AM, I had to approach the host stand to request his return and inquire when our tea might finally arrive. It wasn’t until noon that we were finally served tea, though the champagne remained elusive. Our champagne was finally topped off 15 minutes later, and it wasn’t until 12:45 PM – nearly two hours after we were seated – that the long-awaited three tiers of food arrived. The food itself was passable but lacked essential accompaniments; notably, the scones were served without any butter or clotted cream. To add insult to injury, shortly after receiving the food, our check was presented at 12:48 PM – a premature end to what should have been a leisurely experience. Despite the abysmal service, no portion of the meal was comped, and we were automatically charged a 22% gratuity for service that was practically nonexistent. This afternoon tea was a regrettable experience, far below the standards one associates with the Ritz-Carlton. For a luxury establishment, we expected a memorable experience – unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
The worst service we received during our trip to New Orleans. We made reservations for afternoon tea at the Ritz. I was so excited to have a nice relaxing experience and have some delicious food and tea. We arrived to an empty hostess stand, and waited 10 minutes before anyone came out to seat us. When we were finally seated we waited another 10 minutes for a waiter to come talk to us and let us order our tea and bring out the tea service. There was one waiter for 5 different parties, one of which was nine people! At each table he gave a whole speech about the tea service and how it worked so we knew we would be here all afternoon. Ultimately, we decided to leave before our tea experience truly started. Incredibly disappointing service from the Ritz, who has such a strong reputation for impeccable service.
We went for one reason: to listen to the jazz band which was scheduled to play for a couple of hours. When we arrived the band was nowhere in sight, but we were advised that they should return shortly from break. We inquired a few times when they didn’t show up for a while, and were told they take a 15 min break. We finally asked our waiter after 45 min if they were coming back. In a very insulting tone, he told us “This is his [Davenport’s] lounge. He can play when he wants to.” He then informed us that the band was probably in a meeting, but he agreed to ask them to come out, which they did. However, they seemed less than thrilled about being asked to play. It left a bad taste in my mouth, to say the least. Don’t advertise what you can’t deliver.
