A classic LES dive. Been coming here for years.
Nice little spot. Good beers and great music
The owner is great, so personable, and great beers on tap
Nice vibe, good music, really good bar food.
best bar cash only and great owner and bar tenders
Cash only but great vibe and awesome beer!
The bartender is a really cool guy. Thumbs up!
Very nice bartender, but this place does not serve food.
One of my fave neighborhood bars in NYC for the last decade and a half. No pretense, all locals
It's a nice place to have a few drinks and just chill
Good bartender. Good atmosphere. Laid-back on a Saturday at 5pm.
One of my favorite locals, low key, good beer selection and happy hour
Was tempted to give a zero to keep this place all to myself. Spencer is the best and you miss a lot of the standard LES trash crowd
One of those bars where you can bask in the sunshine by a window and enjoy a great selection of beers without having to shove anyone.
Cash only dive bar that just serve beer and wine but it's got a Cool vibe and a fun jukebox
Amazing bar! Bar man was ace! Great place! Get yourselves here for a great time!
ELLIS. Great man... we miss Aladin. But Ellis make our night me and my friend !!!
Nice location, good selection of beer, friendly staff, great service.
Great range of beers, and good wine. Friendly and helpful bartender.
Serious and fun brews on tap cans and bottles. 🍷 for the grape lovers. Open late.
Bartender was great, incredible selection of beer and loved my BLT
Great beer selection chill vibe decent happy hour
Great, laid back neighborhood bar. Friendly staff, nice vibe!
I will have to go back there to get some pictures. I had fun, beers, all of it. Just forgot them pictures... 🤗
Still one of my favorite places to hang, esp. if conversation is the object of the evening.
John is one of the best bartenders you can ask for. Absolutely recommend coming here
great draft selection, no tvs and chill music make this a very nice bar.
Great no-nonsense LES joint with a lo-fi aesthetic, high on id, low on ego.
Good beer selection and pleasant stay behind the bar
Excellent for and drink and the bar staff are very friendly too.
Great live music, great staff. Love this spot.
Awesome bar! Bartender was super cool. Only beer and wine but great quiet spot to meet up with friends.
Has always been one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood. Good rotating kix of craft beers from all over the area and some from around the world as well. Spot by if you are in the Lower East Side!
This is a dear old favorite spot. Excellent breadth of beer and wine selection, delightful bites like disco tater tots and grilled cheese with tomato, and the staff have always been particularly kind and friendly.
One of my favorite places in NYC. It’s our nightcap spot of choice. Awesome beer options and they have great snacks too (especially the pretzel!). Love it
Cash only, but there’s an ATM inside. Beer & wine only, but that includes Prosecco on tap. We love this bar & the bartender Spencer!
Giving it a 5 star only cause of the service I get only on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays when u have that very nice bartender and the food is good...But then come Tuesday, Thursday that bartender is so rude inattentive in which I’m a regular .But come those days they done lost business with me. Will not spent my money for some bartender to come out of his face in front of other patrons.😡
Here is were the Love of my Life and I had our first date. The atmosphere was so amazing that was thanks to this place and it's great service and vibe that all started!
Stand-by for good beers & tator-tots. Can usually grab a set at the bar for happy hour. The other food looks good as well but I haven't made it past the tots!
Exceptionally relaxed beer bar in lower east. One of my favorite spots to go. The bartenders are also super friendly.
The best music… #neworder
Super kind and helpful staff, with a great lineup of tasty beers. Perfect place for the neighborhood.
Only beer and wine here, reminds me of my buddy Marshall back home
Live music and friendly staff. They even offered me a custom cocktail to substitute another cocktail they didn't have ingredients for. Makes me think bartender went to a mixology school.
Very chill vibe for a quiet drink and conversation. Good draft beer selection.
Great casual bar with a wide selection of craft beer + friendly bartenders. No liquor... beer + wine only!
Great vibe, awesome location, amazing music, and the bartender is the BEST! Love this spot.
Great bar, don’t miss it!
Is exactly what you'd hope for a beer bar in the area. Great selection, long bar, food. Bring cash or use the ATM in the back.
Interesting beer selection and very good bar food. I get the duck club every single time I go. I'm not super adventurous so don't put too much weight on the frequency of the order. Cash only but there is an atm in the back. It may look like a sketchy Bodega atm but so far no one has skimmed my card so I'm guessing it is safe.
I met some friends here just to hang out and have some drinks for a few hours, and it was a great experience. The place is small but wasn't too crowded, and the guitar-themed decor was cool but not so overstated as to be distracting. The beer selection is better than a lot of bars around town at fair prices, but the food was definitely the best part of the experience. I had the talapia po' boy and it did not disappoint. I hope to come back to Marshall Stack soon!
Friendly, unpretentious bar serving good selection of craft beer and wine. Very happy to have stumbled across it after visiting the nearby Tenement Museum. Came back for a second visit after returning to Manhattan from Williamsburg via the bridge.
I came here for a later night drink! Wyatt served me and he was so great! I am looking forward to coming back!
Great place to drink beers (local and other) and wines and eat american food. Thanks to flagship brewing to offer 2 glasses and cap this day! Amazing flagship beer craft and italian red wine. If i live in NYC, it will be my second house😋😋😋
If you're looking for a casual spot to drink some beer or wine and eat some good apps all the while catching up with friends; well you found the place. It's quiet enough you can hear people, and it doesn't get crazy crowded. Drink and food selection were very good.
So friendly here. It is a rare and treasured experience indeed to go to a place and feel truly taken care of, as opposed to just merely served. Marshall Stack delivered on that front, and they had live music as well!
Amazing craft beer selection and always friendly bartenders. It's never so unpleasantly busy that I haven't been able to find a seat with my friends. Cash only with an ATM in the back.
Really like this bar. Great beer selection. Not just IPAs like so many places around. Very laidback. Great place to meet with friends and actually be able to talk and hear each other.
One of the best, if not the best, craft brew happy hours in NYC. All beers, not a select few, are included in the happy hour, and they work miracles in their little kitchen, best sloppy Joe sliders in NYC hands down. Oh yeah, awesome jukebox.
Thought I'd reviewed this already. Great Bar , great jukebox. When we visited we were really exhausted from a day sightseeing and the booze cruise on the Hudson but we had seem this bar online before we visited NY and really wanted to go. It is quite small but a good atmoshere considrering it was not completeley full. The barmaid was top notch, wish we had asked her name however she tended bar like a boss and still had time to chat to punters at the bar. She had short hair and one of her tattoos was like a ying & yang design but with two women in dresses on her left arm. She knows who she is. (thanks for making our visit as good as we hoped) Had 3 pints but wish we could have spent more time but we were completly knackered. Definetley re-visiting when ewe eturn to NY.
Great little place with great beer and super nice staff.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Awesome bartenders, great beer, immaculate vibes
Great service here, fanatic selection of beers.
I visited Marshall Stack in May while I was in New York, and I loved the variety of beer and sake they offered. The bartender was super kind, helpful, and answered all my questions with a smile. The other guests were also incredibly friendly — it made the whole experience warm and memorable. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in NYC!
Love this spot. Beer & wine only, never really busy and the crowd and bartenders are always really chill.
Laidback corner bar with an equally laidback (and attentive) bartender. They had some interesting beers I'd not heard of, and as pictured, a can one of the best non-alcoholic beer we've had (Al's). They also had some goofy little cartons of sake which we didn't drink, but asked to take a photo of one. The place was pretty empty on a Tuesday (May 28) evening.
Love this place so much, we were in LES for a week and came here almost every day, was a proper welcoming local from the 1st day we arrived. Great bar guys, chilled vibes and good music. Also were even super cool about us being ignorant/not understanding of the tipping situation initially! Hopefully we will get the chance to return one day!
Lower east side is filled with bars but this is the most chill out of them. Really nice bartenders. They offer beer and wine only. It doesn’t get overcrowded but always has people chilling around. It’s a great pit stop during the day and late at night to grab a beer on the go or such.. don’t miss out
Went with some friends for the end of a fun night out. Very nice chill atmosphere and had a table big enough to fit 7 of us. The bartender had great customer service even when he got a bit busy. The hard apple cider here is delicious as well!
I was in New York over Christmas staying on Allen Street in the Lower East Side and I went to Marshall Stack on the recommendation of our hosts. What a wonderful little bar with the largest amount of beers on tap. I’d like to thank the lovely bar tender who looked after us over the Christmas period and even in Christmas Day evening. I’ll definitely visit when I next visit NYC. Thanks again guys ❤️
Lives up to the hype, this is a casual beer lovers bar; great selections on tap, bare-brick decor with some beautiful old lights and ceiling panels. Nothing too 'try hard', but genuine and friendly bar staff. Also, $6 happy hour for Firestone Walker is practically unbeatable in the city. Well worth stopping in for a drink.
For my money, the greatest bar in New York City. I've lived uptown, downtown, and everywhere in between, but I find myself coming back to Stack for its ridiculously great staff, after school specials (english muffin pizzas) and an amazing beer selection. No liquor, but I only drink gin anyway. The people watching from the big windows facing Allen Street rivals any urban space and wondered "what are they up to?" I love this bar. I can't believe they take credit cards now, but I love this bar.
Yummy beer, service could've been better
Spencer knows how to run an excellent bar and service was great! Will definitely go back again!
Solid bar with friendly staff a d grearbeer selection. Plus, rangers games on TV.
Lower east side bar We'll known for sloppy joes. Beer. Wine. No liquor.
I love it when I’m surprised by unexpected places exceeding my expectations! Marshall Stack is quite laid-back and a pleasant addition to the LES. It’s the kind of place where folks come to chill, have a good beer (or cocktail) and chat with friends. It’s not dive-y and the décor is full of wooden benches. I was extremely surprised when they had the Mikkeller Yeast Series 2.0 on TAP!...that was quite a shock and a welcomed one at that! I can’t imagine this place getting rowdy nor would I want it to.
Cash-only's okay with its half-price happy hour specials. A bottle of white will run you a out $15 until 7pm. If you're with a group, check in on the early side to score a large table in the front or back.
An unpretentious-upscale-jukebox-playing-cash-only-craft-beer-and-wine-local-dive-bar. Cozy, laid-back no frills vibe. Friendly bartenders. Great rotating beer selection.
Another reliable LES bar with a good beer selection and rarely too packed to enjoy your beer. A good staple when nearby bars are too busy.
Super chill bar to grab beers or wines. Bartender was super friendly. Great beer selection too.
fantastic selection of beers, full bar, eclectic wine offerings, and some fun eats. a fun laid back crowd makes it a great place for socializing.
Classic gritty lower east side bar. Plenty of beer on tap. Great low pricess and specials.
Hidden craft beer gem. They feature things from New York as well as a small selection from around the world. Bartenders are really friendly, relax at the bar during the afternoon or bring friends during the evening to have a quality brew. Can get really crowded (doesn't every place that cares about their drinks?) so choose your time to go.
The corner bar is great to enjoy the busy east village life, while drinking one of the amazing selection of beers. I recommend the xmas special spice mega tasty beer for only 6$.The music is a great pop-rock mix that cheers the evening.
Great place to chill. There was live music and the artist was phenomenal. He was playing a very different style of guitar. The vibe here is casual and relaxing
I really like this bar. They have an amazing selection of beers, wines and hard ciders. Much more than your standard everyday beers at any other bar. Lots of stouts especially. The bartenders are great and the crowd is decent. Its a great place to hang when in the LES.
Good beer selection and chill atmosphere. They have some tasty bar snacks too: Mac and cheese, tater tots. Annoyingly cash only.
Visited for the first time yesterday. This bar smells bad. I mention it first because it is the first thing I noticed. The beer I ordered was tasty but flat. The vibe is good. Would be nice if they did something about the funk.
The owner turned off the AC on a hot day to save money. Made the patrons and staff uncomfortably sweaty. However, their beer selections were great, even though the bartender didn't know anything about them.
Marshall stack is a nice bar to chill and have a drink. It's in a busy area and the people are the chill. It's dark place, but it doesn't come off as a romantic place so you can definitely bring a friend here. They have a drink menu as well a selection of wine and beers. If you're looking for a causal place to drink that isn't a divey bar, come here. Atmosphere is low key, but decor and the patrons make a good crowd.
This used to be one of the best LES OG joints, had many many great memories here but it has been a minute until tonight since I visited. They seem to have lost the plot of the name Marshall Stack by not playing anything remotely rock or indie, which if it wasn’t a rock joint in the past would be fine but the whole idea of the bar was exactly that. From Sabbath to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it was playing on the speakers but tonight it was J Blavin and Bad Bunny urban beats etc, which I do not want to decry or diss, but plenty of places are playing them, and I used to spin house music in the LES when it was nothing but post punk and garage rock. Changing times indeed for a joint that was the doing the classics. But the low rating is the service, the bartender I had to do ask, plead and then demand my cc was beyond entitled, obnoxious and rude. I normally don’t make a big protest but no matter what I said he quipped in a way that was so not cool. I remember when it was the two long hair rocker owners slinging beers, not so much of a hint of their awesome service tonight sadly.
Absolutely hated this place. The bartender has a lot to learn about customer service imo.
incredibly rude bartender completely ruined the experience
Called the place looking for a missing person who was last in there. In return the guy gave me an attitude and refused to even look to see if she was in there. I have dined here before and every employee spoke to me rudely and disrespectfully. Thanks a lot for denying the little bit of help
