This is my #1 place! I live in Brooklyn, but almost every week for the past 4–5 years we come here to eat our favorite combo: ultimate burger, soup of the day, and spicy dumplings. We also love the chickpea fries and desserts,my personal favorites are the tiramisu and mini brownies😋 There are so many vegan places in NY, but this one is really special to us❤️ The food is always amazing, and it truly feels like a place you want to come back to again and again☺️
What an incredible place. I am not vegan. But the food was delicious. I had the peace bowl. And my friend had the waffle and tenders. He is strictly vegan and has been to this place lots of times. He really recommended the Puerto Rican plantain lasagna but we came for lunch and that was not ready. But I was not disappointed with what I chose. Also can I say the staff were so incredible. I was going through something personal and shared with them my story and they were considerate and gracious. They sent me home with a free carrot cake which was such a sweet gesture.
Great food! Loved the seitan panini. On a previous visit had excellent desserts!
The Servers here are Very Accommodating, they did Really Well choosing and preparing their team here, Very Welcoming and friendly! I try to buy my own Plant-Based Groceries from Whole Foods, because in my experience, especially tasting out at an assortment of Fine Dining Restaurants from Tampa Florida, Saint Petersburg Florida, and Here In Manhattan New York, I Don't Really lower my standards Unless the Service is just so good I give in a little When I'm There, or the Food is soo good I Ignore any weird personalities still showing through the personnel. I get it, Restaurants are a business, but Professionalism and putting love into your work{Serving like a butler OR Tasting and Cooking food within The Line you Know You'd still Love to Eat for Yourself} is what makes a business stand out Best... not any other strange quirks. I don't write reviews Too Often, but I Am Happy to Say that during my 3 Year Stay here in NYC before moving West of the U.S. Peacefood Cafe *Downtown* was one of the Few of my Favorites in terms of a Completely Plant-Based Menu ~ Restaurant. I Loved their PFC Tenders, and I brought a coworker from the Piers to try the food here, and he said... "I Thought this place was vegan!". Hahahaha the PFC Tenders were so good he thought it was just what they were imitating! I've tried a few other options on their menu which Were also Great, but I'll Add that Their Desserts are totally worth the price! I hated going into restaurants and ending with a Tiny Desert[Worst on dates and the girl is still hungry hehe] that costs more than what was given, and Peacefood Cafe Has Big Portioned Deserts. This Restaurant may not be on the Verge of Fine Dining, but for a Clean Kept, Large Cafe They Were Amazing. Bravo Peacefood Cafe!
Delicious, healthy, creative vegan comfort food with an Asian focus. Eric the owner has beautiful energy and interacted with my group kindly. I ordered the Puerto Rican Lasagna with plantains, potatoes, vegan sausage, and cheese and with salad. I wish i still had more. Best value- my party of 6 all ordered main dishes, 3 appetizers, and 3 drinks for $40 including tax and tip. Can’t beat this experience and value! My favorite of all time! Please open a Peacefood Cafe in Bergen County!
I love meat! Like absolutely can’t imagine a meal without it. Until today! The food was incredibly delicious and flavorful! I had to take a picture of the menu to go home and begin exploring vegan dishes.
Peacefood holds a very special place in my heart. This has been a meaningful date spot for my partner and me for many years now, and we’ve been repeat customers for nearly 8 years (we come in from Jersey City, frequently). The staff is consistently amazing—warm, attentive, and genuinely cheerful. You can tell they truly enjoy being there, which speaks volumes and makes the experience even better. The atmosphere is very chill, relaxing, and homey all at the same time—perfect for dates, catching up with friends, or even dining solo. The menu and daily specials are always on point. I’ve tried just about everything, and nothing has disappointed. The food is healthy, flavorful, and vegan—but please don’t let the word vegan deter you. The dishes are comforting, satisfying, and incredibly well done. The desserts are just as good, and the portions are generous—you’ll definitely leave full. Today we had french fries, tomato vegetable soup, spaghetti squash, a mango lassi, and a ginger turmeric latte, plus three desserts to take home: lemon poppy seed loaf, coconut roll, and banana bread. Everything was delicious. My hope is that Peacefood is here to stay and that more people recognize what a true gem this restaurant is. 🌱✨
A delicious and filling meal! I had the mac and cheese and got a juice as well. The service was quick and attentive. I hadn't been to this location in a while, but it's a great space and conveniently located near Union Square, Washington Square Park, and NYU. A perfect place to stop for a quick lunch!
The greatest things about Peacefood Café are its excellent menu, friendly service, convenient location, and welcoming atmosphere—perfect whether you're dining alone or with a large group of 10–15 people, weather it’s dinner, lunch or between. The menu will fit every mood - ranges from healthy smoothies, soups, and salads to hearty seitan dishes and decadent desserts like chocolate cake. There are plenty of sweets to choose from! Don’t miss the chickpeas fries and turmeric latte. If you enjoy spicy food, I highly recommend the chili oil wontons.
I love this place ! My family, friends and I have been coming here for years. I wish we lived closer so we could come more often. The delicious, fresh, nutritious food is very consistently good! The vibe is always so relaxed and provides a true oasis from the busy world outside. Intriguing art on the walls, lovely music, interesting people and kind servers. Also, a fantastically generous selection of deserts including vegan tiramisu — What more could you want? A lovely place!
Great place to stop by for a casual plant-based bite to eat. Very good value for money as well, with a meal for two coming out at less than $50 pre-tip. We had the: -Seitan Medallion Panini -Waffle + Tenders And were impressed by the speed at which they came out. Both were pleasant, no-nonsense dishes and very filling. There was a very attractive sweet/baked goods counter that we originally intended to buy something from afterwards to take away, but we found ourselves too full after the meal. Our advice would be to keep portion size in mind and save room, as everything looked amazing!
I have a huge sweet tooth and eat a lot of dessert on a daily basis. I dont often eat vegan desserts and even with alllll the amazing bakeries in NYC, I highly recommend Peacefood for their desserts. They are rich and moist and decadent. Try everything. DEFINITELY get a cake slice. The service is good. Staff is friendly and helpful. My water cup was always filled.
Delicious, fresh plant-based restaurant! Relaxed and welcoming vibe, attentive service. Everything we tried was delicious. Started with the Macho Nachos which were meal-sized, fresh and tasty and a Lucky Me juice (invigorating! Truly felt lucky 😀). Then we shared a pot pie and salad. The pastry in the pot pie was flaky perfection, and the pot pie itself tasted like home cooked love. The salad was just the right mix of greens, veggies and a light vinaigrette. All in all a delightful place to share a meal. Our only regret (seriously) was not saving room to try something from the pastry case. Their pastries are a whole 'nother area I want to explore! Sorry forgot to take photos before we dug in! Food looked so good we couldn't wait.
This place is a real gem. My husband and I recently visited and ordered the chickpea fries, Japanese pumpkin sandwich, and seitan medallion panini - and every dish exceeded our expectations. Their infamous chickpea fries are an absolute must-try; we were blown away by the explosion of flavors in the sauce. I was initially skeptical about ordering the seitan medallion, as I've never had good experience with seitan and always found it to be dry in taste at other vegan spots. But this panini was a game-changer - it was incredibly flavorful and didn't disappoint at all. The Japanese pumpkin sandwich was another highlight, with the perfect combination of roasted pumpkin and caramelized onions. We loved every dish we tried, and even saved room for the raw cacao mousse pie, which was the perfect finishing touch to our meal. To top it all off, the service was extremely good - our server was attentive, making our dining experience truly exceptional at this place. Can't wait to go again and try remaining dishes.
Came here to have a little birthday dinner with my husband. We enjoyed everything about this establishment. The decor is gorgeous and really sets the mood, the space has really great energy. It's lower lighting in the evening, candles on the table- but it's not a hindrance like it can be in some other places. It's perfect. It's not loud or overwhelming, jazz covers of well-known songs were playing when we were there, and it was very enjoyable to listen for what would play next. The service was incredible from start to finish. Everyone was so welcoming and warm. I also appreciated that they weren't overbearing, our wait person- Nathan, had great timing, was great at his job overall, and was very charming. We had a lot of fun and laughs with him! Definitely adds to the overall vibe of the place. Let's talk about this food... it's incredible. The portions are extremely generous, everything was fresh and hot, and the flavors were to die for. We started off with a smoothie at my husband's suggestion because it sounded really good- and it was SO fresh and beautifully made, I can't remember which kind it was, but I can remember I was happy and will be trying more in the future- and that's all that matters! My husband had a curry dish that was phenomenal (too spicy for me, but I did steal some bites anyway because it was very good). I ordered the burger and fries, and I thought it was an absolute showstopper. The flavors were out of this world and the focaccia bread it comes on was so soft and pillowy, almost doughy and perfectly complimented the burger with all of the wonderful toppings. This dish came with fries that were very crispy and tasty. My husband kept stealing bites from me too! Everything was presented very nicely, and I think the price point is extremely reasonable for the ingredients, the portions, and the experience you'll get here. We were absolutely stuffed by the time we were through with dinner, but wanted to get a piece of cake to go, so we went over to peruse the bakery case and took a look at the menu as well. We took home a slice of carrot cake at Nathan's suggestion, and when we were finally able to eat it the next day- it was a delight. Some of the best carrot cake I've had, hands down. I have a huge sweet tooth, and that's not generally what I would jump at, but this was different, and I'm looking forward to having it again. Overall, I would highly recommend dining here and supporting this business in full- I can't wait to go again!

Good food and good service. staff was professional and food was well made and presented. . Save room for deserts. Will be back there. There are many varieties and it is not loud.
Delicious lunch. Service was attentive & friendly. Food was well prepared, there was not a long wait time (perfect actually) and filling! Started with a couple of juices which were refreshing. Shared the chickpea fries then had The Other Caesar which was quite large and was very satisfying without the extra protein and only with the tempeh bacon. My friend had the quiche which was a very large piece with salad, and because her appetite was bigger than her belly the Macho Nachos she ordered was just too much and she had to take that to go. I enjoyed a slice of carrot cake which was delicious, too! I’m not in the Union Square area often but will return when I’m back!
Amazing place. Nice vibes, good decor. Got the recommended chickpea fries. They were nice. Good quantity and quite heavy. Their soup of the day was artichoke plus cauliflower I believe, don’t remember exactly. It was very soothing and refreshing nevertheless. The small bowl is more than enough. Also got the pesto panini sandwich. Taste was decent. The portion size was very big for one person. For dessert got the strawberry shortcake. It was extremely sweet for me. So a bit point down on that one for me. Overall a great place and a worth it stop.

Chick pea Fries are amazing. Burger completely undercooked. Bread was hard also. Beware any place using Foccacia or Bagels. They last longer so Business's like them. Coming from a Fresh bread culture. These are monstrosities.
Waiter did not wash hands in bathroom, then delivered our food. One member of our party refused to eat.\n\nLimited menu of mediocre food, and overpriced for what you get. I will not return.
I came to Peacefood Uptown (Union Square) for the first time around 12:30 PM, excited to finally dine in after hearing good things. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. I was seated with a menu clearly on the table, took off my coat, and waited to be served. No one took my order. During that time, the server walked past me twice, did not greet me, and took the orders of two other guests and yet never acknowledged me at all. Sandy, who had previously helped me at the bakery, noticed the issue as I informed her that I was ready to check out with my bakery items (when I initially asked to have my bakery items added to my dining tab) and apologized countless times, even though this situation was not her fault. She went above and beyond by offering to have the kitchen rush an order to-go, but I declined because I specifically wanted to dine in, especially since it was my first time there. Sandy also agreed that someone was supposed to come serve me and suggested the server may have assumed I was already taken care of but that explanation doesn’t make sense when I was clearly seated, had a menu on the table, and was visibly waiting. What made this experience even more upsetting is that I was the only person of color seated in the establishment, which made the lack of acknowledgment feel especially unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Being ignored for nearly 20 minutes while others were served left and service wasn’t busy made me feeling singled out and disrespected. I ultimately left around 12:55 PM without ever being served. Sandy deserves recognition for her professionalism and empathy, but the server responsible either needs serious retraining or should not be working the floor. No guest should ever feel invisible, especially not on their first visit. This experience was disappointing, and I hope management takes it seriously so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
