Came here for a last-minute lunch reservation on a Thursday at 1:30 PM. They were running a lunch special and so I decided to do that and get the duck, and my friend got the pork belly. It also came with rice or noodles and a drink. Overall, the vibe in their restaurant is very casual and chill. But it is a little tight given that it’s close to union Square thats understandable. We also got the mango sticky rice dessert the ice cream was very good, but the stick was a little bit hard. All in all this place is great. The weekend reservations are taken so that’s why I had to take a random day to go in the afternoon.

The food is really good. We had Nina as our server. She took care of us very well. The best one is the Pad Thai. Definitely recommend this spot and come back here again!!!

Soothr is exceptional. Panang duck lychee curry is an absolute must. My server Manny was a pro, service was top notch. Highly recommend Soothr if you’re in the East Village (really anywhere in NYC). It’s fantastic Thai food!

Poonpun honestly made the entire experience. He curated our meal perfectly, gave the best recommendations, and every single dish that hit the table was incredible. From the cocktails to the noodles, there wasn’t one thing that missed. Everything was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. 10/10 !!! come here now.

Loved the vibes and the food was most definitely one the most authentic Thai food I have had in New York. I have travelled extensively in Thailand over two trips and had the privilege of tasting all sorts of amazing food. This amazing restaurant reminded me of the scrumptious food I had back in Thailand. Each dish was bursting with flavours, the fresh herbs, the balance of spicy, sweet and tartness was perfect! The service was quick and efficient. The drinks were popping and had very unique flavours. The cost for the meal was reasonable and it was a total value for money especially with the amazing quality of food they serve. I would highly recommend this and I myself would love to visit it more to try the other dishes too!

We had an excellent dining experience here. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced. The eggplant bao were perfect while the chicken Khao Soi was the absolute highlight — rich, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying. Definitely a place worth revisiting!

Best Thai restaurant in the city that offers authentic cuisine at decent prices served by a cordial and competent staff. Except for the external front, the interior setting is nice and comfortable but the tables are not many given the apparent success of the place.

We had a wonderful first experience at Soothr. Our waiter, Poonpun, was wonderful and recommended several dishes to try, which were all great. We had the soft shell crab special, hoi johr, chive cakes, chicken khao soi, and lychee duck curry. Highly recommend the chicken khao soi in particular! Would come back for that alone

Had an amazing experience at Soothr NYC tonight. The food was spot-on with rich flavors, perfect balance, and honestly one of the best Thai meals I have had in the city. A special shoutout to Manny, our waiter. He was genuinely kind, attentive without being pushy, and had this calm way of making the whole meal feel even better. He checked in at the right moments, gave great recommendations, and took care of everything with a smile. If you are going to Soothr, hope you get Manny. He really made the evening. Highly recommend the place overall.

Our server, Poonpun, was absolutely amazing! He was incredibly friendly and cheerful, and he went above and beyond to recommend some of the dishes on the menu. I tried the Moo Dang puff, which was incredibly light and crispy. My friend opted for the famous Khao Soi, while I chose the Sukhothai noodle.

Soothr, a highly sought-after Thai restaurant nestled in Manhattan, offers an authentic culinary journey that, despite a few practical considerations, leaves a lasting impression. Securing a reservation is essential for this popular spot, though be prepared for a brief wait even with one; we experienced a 10-minute delay before being seated, which is a minor point to note. Once inside, the ambiance is undeniably nice, creating an inviting atmosphere, though the space itself is quite small, contributing to a bustling and somewhat loud environment. The service is good, efficiently managing the flow of diners, albeit with a noticeable sense of being rushed due to a time limit on your stay. Despite the pace, the culinary offerings at Soothr truly shine. The drinks we ordered were both delicious and commendably strong, providing a great start to the meal. For appetizers, the spring rolls and curry puffs were exceptionally good and flavorful, setting a high standard for what was to come. The main courses, particularly the shrimp curry and crab fried rice, were the undisputed stars of the show; we devoured them in one sitting, captivated by their incredible taste and authenticity. It's important to consider the cost, as Soothr is on the pricier side, with our meal for two totaling around $150. Additionally, parking in the area is non-existent, so planning alternative transportation is advisable. Despite the minor inconveniences of a wait, a small and loud space, and a rushed service, the exceptional quality of the food, especially the main dishes, makes Soothr a compelling destination. We are certainly eager to return to explore more of their enticing menu.

Soothr is a restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere and great decoration. Our waiter, Gavin, was very patient and took his time answering all of our questions and offering suggestions. The music is a bit loud, which makes it difficult to hear and speak at times but otherwise fits the atmosphere. The service was very quick and the food came our shortly after we ordered. The dishes were flavorful but if you're a Thai connoisseur you may not be impressed. The servings are decent although the people I was with felt they were small, so if you're used to larger portions you may be disappointed. The prices are, of course, a bit high for what it is. If you come we, highly recommend getting a reservation because if you do walk-in you're limited to an hour at your table. The hour is enough time to eat with how quick the food comes out but if you don't like to rush, definitely make a reservation. Also, you can only be seated if your whole party is present so keep that in mind! Overall, good experience but I wouldn't say you should go out of your way to dine here.

came to soothr for dinner and didnt realize till i got there that its been on michelin guides for a few years in a row! i only knew it was a popular thai spot beforehand the place had a lot of soul inside. dimly lit with lots of tables filled with conversation. it seemed really intimate and swanky all at once! the staff was also really friendly and fashionable~ for the food, we werent really hungry so we shared two plates. we got the karee pu noodles which was crab meat mixed in with egg curry sauce over yellow noodles! it didnt have that coconut curry flavor that you mainly get in thai food, but rather a light yet bright curry flavor! it was really good, esp bc im not the biggest fan of coconut curry (sorry!!) we also got the yum nuer, which was braised beef with a variety of herbs and garlic chips. it was super flavorful and reminded me of a chinese/taiwanese beef roll bc of the beef flavor + cilantro combination. very yummy!! and we decided last minute to order their special mooncake dessert, especially bc it was mid autumn festival day! bc of our chinese/taiwanese roots, we haaad to. and it was the best decision!! the mooncake skin was soft and delicate, i think it was a snow skin mooncake. the filling was not very sweet, which is perfect. the milk ice cream and the little crumbs of streusel were amazing together. and the fresh fruit and lychee puree garnish added some refreshing sweet notes! very happy from this meal~

If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine, this place is a must-try! Both the starters and main courses were absolutely delicious. However, it does get quite crowded, so I strongly recommend making a reservation in advance. Fortunately, booking through Google Maps is super easy and convenient.

First of all, Gavin was so sweet, he always put on smile. We saved this spot a long time ago but finally got to try it today and all the dishes were superb! The egg curry with shrimp had so much flavor and all dishes had good amount of spices. Def wanna come back again.

The food was awesome, the service was very good. I really loved Gavin, water was always filled up, his service was brilliant, very friendly. I ordered the noodles that came with crab meat, I’d recommend anyone to try it, it has a layer of curry with it which blends perfectly with the other ingredients. :)

Such a fantastic restaurant, it makes since that we had to book a reservation three weeks in advance. The eggplant salad was tender and flavorful, the seasona mii moo Todd noodle was mildly spicy but appetizing. The shrimp curry was the best I’ve ever had, and also the ribs (Si Krong Pad Phed) just melt in your mouth. I wish we had this restaurant in Los Angeles. And our host Louise was very helpful in helping us deciding what to order. Highly recommend!

I’m Thai and currently living in Chicago. I came to New York for a 7-day trip and my boyfriend chose this restaurant — Soothr. It was very busy when we arrived, and I highly recommend coming here if you want authentic Thai noodles. The flavors are truly like what you get in Thailand. The atmosphere is quite simple, with a bit of a Chinese vibe, and it gets crowded. Our server, Louis, was amazing — very professional, attentive, and provided excellent service from start to finish. My favorite dish was the Sukhothai Dry Noodles, absolutely delicious. I will definitely come back again, not only because of the food, but because of the great hospitality. Thank you so much, Louis, for the wonderful service. – Kae

Myyy M was very attentive, I have a shellfish allergy, however with that being said, I very much enjoyed every food and the atmosphere. We had no issue and the beer was yummy! She carefully explained the menu and the perimeters. I will be dining here soon again!!! Thank you Myyy

Seriously could not hype up this experience more. Our waiter Nina was so hospitable and provided GREAT recommendations. We had the Beef Si Iw and the Karen Pu Noodles. I literally almost cried after eating bites of both. Nina also pointed us to the Moo Dang Puff bites and the Mango Sundae. The puffs may be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. They also had such a fun atmosphere with music from the 70s playing throughout our stay. The restaurant was PACKED and clearly an indicator of how fantastic everything would be! A NYC MUST

Space is a gem, food super flavorful. Got an invite for my birthday for lunch. I had the Curry Duck with Lychee and Okra and my lunch date ordered the Crab Fried Rice. Both were great and fulfilling to the belly. Appetizer ordered was Dumplings with what I want to say was Shrimp and Pork but I am unable to remember, however was delicious. Everything was tasty and freshly made. My drink of preference was the All About Amethyst which was sweeten to perfection and is my newfound favorite the other beverage is the Pearl which a bit stronger. Everything was perfect. Staff were amazing, very attentive and friendly. I received a Green Envelope for my birthday upon entry which was my first envelope. Everything about the spot was great, a total recommendation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have heard amazing things about this place for years and I’m glad we were finally able to make it. We managed to snag a far outdoor table so it wasn’t the most atmospheric spot but the food was incredible, even though we ordered way too much. Despite it being a Monday and already fairly late, there was still a line of people waiting outside. The meat on the noodle dishes were spectacularly prepared and though my friend loved the duck noodles, he admitted the crunch for the meat on the Mii moo Tod was exceptional. Really really loved the crab fried rice - would have loved even more of the sauce but it was incredibly flavorful and well done. The curry was also fantastic and really grew on both of us - we got a second bowl of rice to really savor it. Looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu. It’s not often every dish will be a massive hit but my friend from out of town and I both loved everything we got.

Food was really good — so good I came here 2 times in one week. My dad is Thai and I am leaving to Thailand this weekend, but this restaurant lived up to expectations. The Koong Karee and Beef Pad See Ew were the best. Also, Louis was the sweetest server! Thank you so much for the birthday shots! Their attentiveness was great.

First impression when we entered was tight but more than makes up for it with the food. The meat balls was a really great appetizer with the superb sauce. Shrimp curry was absolutely delicious, pairs amazingly with the rice. The crab meet noodle with the amazing thick sauce, you really got to mix it well to bring out the flavor.

The duck noodles was amazing! The duck was cooked to perfection and tender. As you can tell I was too excited to start eating that I mixed the noodles before taking the photo 😅 Nina and the staff were super attentive and friendly. Look forward to come here again!

This restaurant beautifully executes flavor, ambiance, and creative expression. The Chicken Ki-Mao offers a stunning balance between spice and herbs, and what I believe was piper nigrum (unprocessed black pepper) and the fried pork belly was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside while complimented with sautéed veggies. The drinks were also quite fun as they were inspired by 9 different gems and made you feel you were drinking a liquified version of the corresponding gems. Overall, the interior was low-lit and welcoming, the service was friendly, and I hope to visit New York again soon and run back to Soothr as soon as my plane lands.

every employee was extremely friendly and the food was amazingggggg. the curry didn’t have a spicy taste, but it did burn my mouth a little which i appreciate since the sweet and salty flavors of the curry were the most prominent. beef pad siiw, shrimp pad thai, panang duck curry and chicken khao soi was great!! the curries were all so fragrant.

Food is incredibly good, costed during summers, m a bit late in writing this review but yea this place ought to one of our favorite restaurants. One complaint though, as it was a busy Saturday, I felt that they were kinda rushing us.

Outstanding food and service. We have ordered Pad Thai, Khao Soi and Yum Kaw Moo, all of them are so good. It's well-kwon place but not overrated, crowded for reason. Waiting time about 20mins and limited time to eat. Our server, Emily so cute and friendly.

Amazing food; even better people. TK was a fantastic and kind host, consistently making sure that we were happy with our meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the mango sundae to end is a must.

R

Moo Dang Puff - outside texture was super flaky. Never had that in a dumpling before. The pork filling wasn't that special but there was some vinegary vegetable with it that was a nice complement. Duck noodles - very tender duck. Good flavor of the duck and the sauce. The veggie with it was bitter and impossible to cut / mix in with the provided silverware. Also the noodles were cold which was unexpected. Koong Karee - Nice flavor. Well done. Mango Sundae - the rice was perfect, not too sweet. The ice cream was great too, rich. The mango was alright. The presentation was not that great, i think thin mango slices look better than these variable sized chunks.

Had a delicious meal! We ordered the Woonsen tiger prawn, Boon Fai Dang, and Panang Duck Lychee and the flavors were incredible. We were served by Gabby who was very attentive and welcoming. We always go with no reservation, wait about 20-30 mins around the neighborhood and get seated! We love this restaurant so much, the food, the service, the atmosphere (and music). Its a really fun experience :-) My favorite dishes are the Yum Nuer (this is actually an appetizer), Karee Pu Noodles, and the Beef and Vegetable Masamun Curry. As someone who cant handle spicy too well, these dishes are perfect. I guess the only thing to note is that there arent many non-spicy options for those who dont like or cant have spicy!

J

The food was mind blowing. If you come for lunchtime there are also free soft drinks and sides. The chicken khao soi was insane; the lychee duck curry was also fantastic. The mango sticky rice is only in the summer tho that bummed me out

C

I went in for lunch and the food was delicious. The service was fast and lovely, the atmosphere was upbeat. Louis L served me and was so friendly and helpful! The boong fai dang (morning glory) was savoury and crunchy and held a tinge of fresh spice. The duck from the duck noodles was perfect, really tender and soft, complimenting the sweeter profile of the noodles themselves. Of course the mango sundae was perfect. Not too sweet, fragrant, and the rice was a textural dream.

This restaurant is a gem. The food is excellent and the flavors are carefully prepared for each dish. Our dinner was absolutely spectacular! Our server, Nina was warm, attentive, and offered excellent recommendations that truly elevated the entire experience. It was a great dining experience thanks to her! We started with the Lobster and Ha Gao from the Lunar New Year menu. The lobster was incredibly delicious which perfectly cooked and generously coated in a spicy sauce that complemented the sweetness of the meat beautifully. The Ha Gao were delicate and flavorful, with a satisfying bite. The Hoo Johr was also a standout! It was crispy on the outside, savory on the inside, and perfect as an appetizer to share. For our mains, the Panang Duck Lychee Curry was hands down the best rich, creamy, and packed with bold flavors, with just the right balance of sweetness from the lychee. The Shrimp Pad Thai was equally impressive, featuring plump shrimp, well-balanced seasoning, and perfectly cooked noodles. We ended the meal with mango sticky rice. Even though mango isn’t in season, the dessert was absolutely amazing! The sticky rice was warm and fragrant, paired with sweet coconut milk, mango Ice cream and fresh mango.. it was the perfect ending to a fantastic dinner. Highly recommend!

This was a meal I won't forget. Soothr (pronouned "Sood") had the best service (the best I have ever experienced—shoutout to our server, Tang, and the manager on duty), with unique and flavorful dishes (and cocktails) to match. We start with some crispy Chiken, fried dumplings 10/10 pad thai 😍, duck in curry sauce, wow 👌 those too were also fantastic. Can't wait to go back . Dessert was sweet and delicious... While im writing this im having a smile in my face, enjoying my food again

Hands down one of the best Thai restaurants in NYC. The food is incredibly authentic, the vibe is immaculate, and the service is consistently top-notch. My go-to dish is the boat noodle, packed with rich, deep flavors and hitting just the right level of spice. I’ve been many times, and every visit ends with a big smile and a very full, happy stomach.

A friend recommended this spot and man, they weren't kidding—the flavors are huge. I grabbed the lunch special (appetizer, entree, and a soda) which is actually a pretty solid deal. I tried the Khao Soi and the crab fried rice; both were super fragrant, but that fried rice is definitely the winner. Lots of wok hay when they stir fried the rice. Just a heads up: definitely make advanced reservations. I went on a Monday and it was still slammed. The place is a bit of a squeeze and you'll be sitting pretty close to the next table, but the food comes out fast so it’s worth it

I made a reservation for 5pm when the restaurant opened, there was already a line of 10+ people waiting to check-in at the window. Highly recommend you get there on the earlier side. We were welcome with a large staff, hostess, waitress, bartender, etc. It was a smooth running machine of service nonstop. For drinks, we ordered from the gems menu. Such a creative way to have cocktails. For food, we split the chicken Khao Soi (best in my life), crab fried rice, and the stir fried morning glory. We finished off with the lychee dessert. I have to say this was one of the best Thai meals I’ve had in Manhattan, well worth the wait. Definitely would love to come back!

A great environment, awesome service and tasty food. We went on a Tuesday 1 PM reservation, no wait and straight to our table of 2. Our server V is super friendly and nice. Always had a smile and gave many water refills. We ordered the panang duck lychee and khao soi chicken. Since it’s the lunch on the weekday they gave us free small appetizers. Beef balls and veggie dumplings. The duck curry and khao soi was very tasty and delicious. I would recommend bringing a bigger group so you can try other items too since the curry gets a bit heavy as those were only two items we had. I loved the flavor and the price matched well to the amount of food they give. Great experience! Will come back again.

Loved this Thai restaurant! The food was flavorful, the portions were perfect, and the staff were so kind. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. I’d definitely come back again! And shout-out to V (กู๊ด) for being so sweet! ☺️💗

Been wanting to come here since walking by seeing how it was always busy throughout the week. Finally made a reservation and went to dine in for a date night and we really enjoyed the food! I had the Duck noodles which was sweet and savory. My husband had the braised beef with chili and garlic, that was very flavorful and so tender. Also had the amethyst drink which was really good! Last we tried their mango sherbet with sticky rice desert, so good with mango and coconut flavors. Everything was delicious! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back here.

Definitely the best Thai food I have ever had and one of my favorite meals in NYC. This place is worth every penny. My favorite dishes were the Moo Deng appetizer, and the Pad Se Ew but everything we ate was delicious and worth ordering again (we also got the egg rolls, duck curry, and mango dessert). The staff was efficient and professional and we had a wonderful time. My only minor gripe is that the tables are very close together and the tables are small so for larger parties this may not be a good choice (larger than 4-5).

We visited this restaurant on a Friday night, arriving early around 4:30 PM, just before the 5:00 PM dinner service began after their break. As we didn't have a reservation, we lined up first and waited about 30 minutes; this patience proved worthwhile, as we were one of three groups successfully seated without a booking right when the doors opened. This is a helpful tip for future diners: standing in line before service starts may ensure you get a spot, even on a busy evening. We were kindly seated at the bar area, which turned out to be a comfortable and engaging spot, perfectly complementing the restaurant's stunning interior. Plus, it has a bag hanger, so hang your bag underneath the table. The ambiance and vibe were simply amazing, creating a sophisticated and dimly lit atmosphere that felt ideal for a romantic date night. We were equally impressed by the team; all the servers were incredibly friendly, quick, and highly professional, ensuring our experience felt seamless and attentive from start to finish. For our dinner, we ordered the Fried Crab Rice and their acclaimed Signature Shrimp Cream Curry, a dish whose name I regret forgetting as it demands immediate praise. The ingredients were clearly top quality; the crab meat in the fried rice was remarkably fresh, delivering an intensely rich, sweet flavor that truly elevated the dish. The curry was a revelation, wonderfully creamy and soft, with a luxurious texture that seemed to melt away quickly on the palate, leaving behind a subtle, exquisite flavor profile. We left the restaurant thoroughly satisfied. The combination of efficient and friendly service, the beautiful setting, and the unforgettable quality of their food made the initial wait completely worthwhile. This is a highly recommended spot for a truly memorable meal.

The food was incredible. We got the Yum Neur, Crab fried rice, duck noodles, and mango sundae. The Yum Neur was a delicious braised beef cold appetizer that had complex textures and flavors. Fried rice was excellent, the rice was perfectly cooked. Duck noodles were great and the duck melted in the mouth. Lastly, the mango sundae was not too sweet and the perfect way to end the meal. Will be coming back.

We made a reservation at Soothr and were seated pretty quickly, which was a great start. Our waiter was amazing she had excellent recommendations, and everything she suggested ended up being delicious. I ordered the Tom Yum soup, duck rolls, drunken noodles, crab curry, and the Ruby Stone cocktail. The food was flavorful and well-portioned for the price. I do think the cocktails are a bit overpriced at $19, but aside from that, everything else felt fair and worth it. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend Soothr and visit again!

5 stars all around! This restaurant is a gem. We tried the Thai tea, fried branzino, shrimp curry, and tom yum seafood hotpot, and every single thing was delicious and fresh. The branzino was a particular standout – so crispy and flavorful. A special shout-out to our server, Gavin! He was so welcoming from the moment we sat down. His big smile and friendly, helpful attitude made our dinner so enjoyable. We’ll be back soon

I've heard such great things about this place for the longest time, and I'm so glad I finally made it in! It absolutely lived up to the hype. We started with the Thai tea, which was the perfect balance of sweet and creamy – exactly what I was hoping for. For our mains, we shared the fried branzino, shrimp curry, and the tom yum seafood hotpot. Each dish was a masterpiece! The branzino was light, crispy, and full of flavor. The shrimp curry was rich and aromatic, and the tom yum hotpot was a symphony of spicy, sour, and savory notes, packed with fresh seafood. A huge part of our amazing experience was our server, Gavin. He greeted us with a massive, genuine smile and was so helpful and friendly throughout our entire meal. He offered great recommendations and checked on us just the right amount. His positive energy truly elevated our night. This first visit definitely won't be our last, and we'll certainly be asking for Gavin's section next time

I LOVE to eat at “Soothr” each time I’m there I always enjoy the delectable food. (Kah Soi, Crab Fried Rice, Pad Thai, mussaman curry are among my favorites) the flavors are bold but comforting. The Service is great! Louis L, is one of the best servers, always so kind/inviting, also very attentive and explains the menu so well. The ambiance and decor are perfect. “soothr” is one of my go to places to eat on my day off. You will never be disappointed and you will always want to come back for more.

Amazing food at Soothr. So tasty and flavorful. They didn’t have much for options regarding non alcoholic cocktails but they made me their signature Rose Quartz as nonalcoholic and it was delicious. Started with the duck rolls which came out pipping hot and had a good plum sauce to go with it. I definitely recommend this. Had the Spicy braised beef Pad Krapow for the entree which came with a side of rice. It was tasty but didn’t come with much sauce. So keep that in mind if going for that. But all in all, great food and good portion sizes. Their service was excellent also. As I went during the lunch special I had a complimentary side of their meatballs. Delicious.

Food: The duck curry tastes good, but the dry mix noodles and dumplings are just average. Service: The servers are friendly. Atmosphere: I sat outside, and it felt like the street-food style of dining you’d find in Thailand

We had a fun Monday night dinner, seating was available at the bar and outside for 2 which surprised us. It’s very busy, a little too loud, but definitely an experience to go with friends. The food was good - both our dishes had little things that could have been better. The Khao soi was the best dish we had, but was a little too sweet, the noodles got a little clogged together and sticky. The masamun was good, but there was not enough masamun curry for the vegetables and beef; the beef, cooked separately, was a little cold and slightly dry. Both dishes were good, and we’d definitely come back - that said, at over $30 a dish after tax and tip it doesn’t stand out among the best Thai places we’ve been and so doesn’t justify the weight of the price.

My friend and I were craving some good Thai food, specifically Pad Krapow. I heard great things about Soothr from friends and social media, so we decided to give it a try for dinner. We both ordered the Spicy Braised Beef Pad Krapow. After just two bites, my friend was immediately hit with an intense level of spice, while mine surprisingly had no spice at all. It was a bit disappointing since I really love that signature Thai heat. What truly stood out, though, was the service. Our server, Kyle, was fantastic and very friendly. Overall, the food had some inconsistencies, but the attentive service from Kyle made our visit a positive experience. I will be willing to give Soothr another try.

The wait staff and atmosphere was great, people there are so lovely! Unfortunately food was a bit meh, nothing was spicy enough or packing enough flavour compared to Thai I’ve had in other places. Overall would say a bit basic, especially if you’ve been to Thailand.

We ordered the Karee Pu Noodles, Panang Duck Lychee Curry based off our server, Nina's recommendation, and the Spicy braised beef Pad Krapow. The Karee Pu Noodles came with a nice amount of crab meat. The noodles were pretty soft but the flavor was what you'd expect from a Thai curry noodle. The duck in the Panang Duck Lychee Curry felt undercooked where it was a bit chewy. Flavorwise, we felt it was the best dish we ordered. The Spicy braised beef Pad Krapow was oversalted and it wasn't very memorable. The atmosphere of Soothr felt pretty authentic and our waiter, Nina was polite. Overall, a bit underwhelmed by the food based off what I've heard from word of mouth and the reviews. There are better Thai restaurants in the city.

This was next to the hotel I was staying at and it was a great bowl of boat noodles to have on a cold day. The service was great and everything was delicious. The interior was inviting, warm, and not too cramped. The cocktail was also very flavorful and they didn’t skimp out on the alcohol. Give this place a try for some solid Thai food.

I came across this via a review by Infatuation. We love Thai food and decided to check the place out. They have a very unique menu and their dishes are worth trying. The food is reasonably priced, delicious with decent portions; the staff attentive, friendly and courteous. The only downside to this place is that the place is small but popular which makes it very crowded leading to long wait times. We waited for good 40-45 minutes in spite of having a reservation and it wasn’t fun waiting outside at night in the cold.

Soothr in the East Village is a study in contrasts: a Michelin-noted Thai spot where the duck curry sings, the ribs whimper, and the service runs on espresso shots. Now, let’s talk about the evening. • Service: Efficient to the point of brusque. Plates arrive like clockwork, but don’t expect lingering smiles. • Ambiance: Lovely, warm, well lit without being too bright. Even the backyard seating felt cozy, not like eating in a draft. Cramped, yes, but in that East Village way where cramped equals character. • Waiting time: Acceptable. Not leisurely, not rushed. • Drinks: Only one non-alcoholic cocktail. One. Singular. A monk’s choice for the sober crowd. The Food Parade Yum Nuer Braised beef with lime leaf, chili, lemongrass, mint, cilantro, cucumber, gooseberry, garlic chips. The flavors were a perfect storm of heat, sweetness, and acidity. It smelled divine. It looked divine. The beef, however, was dry enough to make you wonder if the kitchen forgot water exists. Hoi Johr Fried dumplings stuffed with pork, shrimp, crab, scallion, water chestnuts. Plum sauce on the side. The filling was indistinguishable mush, the plum sauce tasted bottled, and the whole thing could have been air-freighted from anywhere. Not offensive, just forgettable. Si-Krong Pad Ped Spicy braised spare ribs with kaffir leaves, cucumber, long beans. Except they weren’t spicy, weren’t tender, and tasted like someone sprinkled seasoning after the fact. Dry, sandy, gamey. My wife said “ok.” She’s polite. I am not. Panang Duck Lychee Curry Caramelized duck breast in Panang curry with lychee, okra, coconut cream. This was the redemption arc. Duck cooked perfectly, curry balanced and rich, lychee and okra surprisingly harmonious. Possibly the best duck and best Panang curry I’ve ever had. Even my duck-averse wife agreed. This dish alone justified the bill and is the reason to return. Final Word Soothr is a restaurant of extremes. The ambiance charms, the service jolts, the menu swings from stellar to shrug. If you go, go for the Panang Duck Lychee Curry. Everything else is a coin toss.

I was in town for the weekend and couldn't wait to co to Soothr because of their reputation. I was starting to get packed and it was tight. It was like a Thai-Chinatown (Yaowarat) vibe. We were given an hour and a half time limit which is normal but I feel like we were being rushed. Started off with drinks, I wasn't a fan of my cocktail. Duck egg rolls had more wood ear mushrooms than duck. I was excited about Karee Pu (crab curry) the texture of the noodles were great. The curry was extra thick and had a strong cumin taste to it, we weren't a fan. We also got the duck noodles, once again the noodles were great. The duck was cooked perfectly but the gravy was so sweet and that was it, sweet. I love Thai food because of the mix of flavors, sweet, spicy, sour, salty, but this place didn't do it for us. I really wanted to like it but we were pretty underwhelmed.

For the reputation this place has I expected more. It was certainly bustling, both inside and out, but there was nothing about the menu the truly wowed me. The best dish we had was probably the pork salad, but even then there were elements that were off to me- the toasted grain that it comes with is very course and feels like you’re eating sand. Not pleasant to eat in a salad. I appreciated the attempt at creating texture, but it wasn’t the right texture. The chicken curried noodles lacked balance, especially acidity, which is surprising coming from a cuisine that specializes in zippy, herby flavors. I enjoyed fried branzino. The fly of the fish and how it was deboned was excellent and made for a very easy and enjoyable eating experience (something that is rare for a fried whole fish). The salad on top was the best part of the whole fish, sweet and sour and added a nice crunch to the flaky fish. The biggest grievance I had was not even directly related to me. The table next to us was push up against a tarp that was clearly covering the outdoor elements. I watched 3 parties sit down and asked to move tables because of the chill. This should never be the case for paying customers. It’s ok to sacrifice one table to make sure all of your customers have a comfortable dining experience.

Service vs. Food Service was terrible was in and out in under 40min. Entrees came before the appetizers and the waitresses didn’t care that I asked if we can have the appetizer first. They didn’t come by and ask if everything was ok during the meal. On the other hand, food was delicious just wish they broke up the meal. Everything came out too fast within 5min or ordering, table too small for more than 3 dishes at once

Honestly, I don’t get all the hype. We’ve been to many Thai restaurants and this was not close to the best. Most of these reviews are 5 star for the service which is only 1/3 of the rating according to Google. Our service was fast but the food was just okay. And our server stared us down while we were paying which was really uncomfortable. We ordered apps and noodle dishes. The taro was really good, the signature Soothr dumplings were unimpressive and forgettable. My son, who’s vegetarian only had one option on the menu that he was not impressed with. Two of the noodle dishes were egg noodles in sauce and one was wide rice noodles. For the egg noodle dishes, they were drowning in sauces. The sauces had good flavor but they were really heavy. The rice noodle dish had noodles that were mushy. It also had lime leaves in it which are inedible. In my opinion, Soothr is overrated.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had in New York. The management is completely disorganized, and the staff are rude and unprofessional. We had a reservation, but somehow walk-in guests were seated much faster than people who actually booked in advance. When we asked the host why this was happening, he rudely told us that “walk-ins are seated at the bar.” But when we went inside, we saw that wasn’t true at all — he just lied to get rid of us. We had just checked out of our hotel, so we brought a small 20-inch suitcase with us. We placed it neatly under the table where it didn’t bother anyone. A staff member then came over and told us we couldn’t bring the luggage inside and had to leave it at the entrance. Our suitcase contained valuable items, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving it in a high-traffic area where anyone could touch it. They then moved us to a corner table near the door, where there was plenty of space for the suitcase. But as soon as we sat down, another staff member came over again, insisting we move the bag back to the entrance. It took almost 20 minutes of back-and-forth and finally speaking with the manager before we were allowed to sit and eat. The entire process was stressful and unpleasant. The staff lacked basic courtesy, communication, and respect for customers. Honestly, this place doesn’t deserve the hype. We will never come back and definitely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had read all the great reviews and trekked through the snow to support neighborhood businesses. Was extremely disappointed . Hear their crab meat was a specialty. Ordered the fried rice with crab meat . It was fresh clean but meat and other ingredients like scallions were sparse. Thought would order a protein- pork belly. It was dry. The waitress simply noted my comments- did not offer to take it back. . She said appreciated the feedback. Great. Will never be returning.
