Great food with a Mediterranean vibe. I’ve only had their breakfast egg pita, it was amazing. Good quality food at very affordable prices.
don't let the counter sandwich spot fool you, this place gets an A+ for food and customer service once you order from the counter they bring it to you it more than makes up for the limited seating, i work nearby and I'm on a first name basis with most of the people that work there. even if you're an out of towner stop in and get the best sandwich in the neighborhood
The Mallawach and all the soups are great. The staff is friendly. Anything you will get will probably taste good and be pretty healthy
My favorite quick eats spot in NYC. Everything I've tried is good but the Mediterranean Salad is the best item on the menu! I crave it on the regular.
This place has really great healthy sandwiches and soups. It's very casual with counter service and tables to eat.
This place is just great. I’ve ordered from here dozens of times and every time the food is delicious, fresh and affordable. Great selection and delivery always on time.
Go-to grab-and-go option whenever I'm in the area. I started going there in college bc it is extremely affordable, but the food is actually phenomenal. Staff is also really friendly.
Superb! I had the smoked Turkey sandwich on a ciabatta, and it was absolutely wonderful. The smokeyness with the sweet mayo and crispy lettuce. Oh man.. yess. Just yess
Surprisingly good! Sandwiches had good crunch and tasty sauces, hummus was good, pita good, just overall great orders
The food is very good. The Mediterranean salad is soooo good! Strongly recommend! The price is affordable.
Wonderful place with the best panini sandwich I'd ever had (my favorite is black forest ham) and top notch live musics on selected nights. What a hidden jem!
Excellent food in a small space. Don't forget to check out the chocolate chip cookies. They're the best in the whole neighborhood.
High quality goods, tried a lot of different things and I've never been disappointed. For lunch I usually do the sandwich/salad combo.
A regular for me. The salads are excellent. The paninis and sandwiches are great. I love the goat cheese salad, the prosciutto mozzarella panini, and the chicken schnitzel .... Oh heck you can't go wrong. Thumbs up.
The food is hot, fresh and tasty, made with quality ingredients. Clean and nice atmosphere. Good prices also. The front desk girl is quite nice and friendly.
This place was a surprise shock! It's so small in size but their menu is amazing. Their Paninis and soups are amazing. They also offer combos of Panini/sandwich and soup. Salads, burgers and so many options. I love this place and would love to go again and again.
Amazing value for the price. As an Israeli, I also truly appreciate how the owner captured the essence and taste of Israeli cafes. The ingredients are fresh and the food is DELICIOUS, every single time.
They've been feeding me for years. Everything is good. My faves are the tomato soup and salami panini. The Nutella croissant is also reliably delicious and always served warm.
Best vegan schnitzel I've ever had. The hand cut fries were crisp by the time I walked back to my apartment as well. Absolutely recommend to anyone looking for healthy choices.
Great French bite sandwich. Fancy fresh ingredients. Exactly what I wanted for lunch. Half was fairly filling so may do a half sandwich half soup next time.
It's a small establishment with a big heart and a great menu. We had the grilled cheese with tomato soup, the Mediterranean breakfast sandwich and the mozzarella panini. All of them were great!
The sandwiches here are so good, trust me the moment you try it you will instantly fall in love with them. It’s a tiny spot so I wasn’t really expecting anything mind blowing but Bite was so good I went back for seconds the next day. If you’re ever in the city around this area I would recommend checking it out.
Mediterranean salad is DELICIOUS. A must try. This is the first time I've had salad with hummus. I will now be eating all my salads with hummus. The lentil soup was okay. I think all of their salads that come with hummus will be equally satisfying.
Home style food that was prepped really quick and ready within minutes, it tasted great and the cashier was really friendly. Will definitely try and come back again.
Delicious breakfast pita - labneh, Kalamata olives, Israeli salad - and a perfect cafe latte, at a sunny sidewalk table…a perfect way to wake up on an early fall day!
If you ever come here, get the chicken panini sandwich or tuna salad. The chicken panini is the best sandwich i’ve ever had in any restaurant.
Wonderful experience, quick service and good food for the prices. A friend and I talked about an artist and they played them over speakers. Very friendly service and staff was very caring! Would come again!
Great tasting and authentic mediterranean food in a small cafe! Prices were reasonable and plenty of vegetarian options
I had a chicken schnitzel sandwich. Generous portion of chicken. Everything tasted fresh. It was better than anything else I've had within 3 blocks of Union Square and will now be my go-to lunch spot in the area.
I actually really liked this place! It’s super cheap and the food is really good. I got the prosciutto mozzarella sandwich and I thought it was really flavorful. My favorite bites of each sandwich half were the last few because the olive oil or pesto was concentrated there giving the sandwich an extra flavor boost. I got a brownie as well and it was good and pretty cheap, but it wasn’t overly special. I also got a tomato soup which I truthfully wasn’t a fan of. It was good when I dipped the bread into eat, but it had a strange texture-almost like pulp or grits. The flavor was there, the texture just needed to be smoothed out. The ambiance of the place is super cozy, and they have really cool art for sale for good prices, if you’re into that! I really want to go back to try the breakfast and the ravioli!
Love this place! I had one of the yummiest tuna salad panini. They serve half sizes which is a big portion for me. While I was eating a band of 3 came in to play live jazz.. So surprised and that made it simply unforgettable.
I started coming here 15 years ago during my summer internship in the city. Prices haven't changed much since then and quality is still top notch. Very happy they're still here and still doing a great job Edit: still an awesome spot but I miss the exotic tuna sandwich :(
This place is so good! Excellent sandwiches and soup, not basic at all. Incredible fresh bread. I enjoy eating there, it's quiet and prices are excellent for high-quality food.
Delicious food. First time going here and will be back. Prices are amazing. Quality and freshness of the sandwich and salad were fantastic. I had the half sandwich (falafel sandwich) and salad and loved it. So tasty! I'm getting hungry writing this. Clean place. Thank you!
My favorite spot for soup/salad/sandwich. Don't expect a grab and go as your order will take about 10 minutes. However, I have never been disappointed by a sandwich nor their soups. Sometimes in the evening they have live music and they are always rotating the art that you can buy on the walls. Really like this place!
One of my favorite places. The food is delicious at affordable price. I loved the Mediterranean salad and the turkey pesto panini. The panini is properly grilled and pressed. They provide a soup, panning combo which makes for a perfect healthy lunch option. FYI.they do not have "soup of the day" as it says in the description.
This is a superb if modest place. Food is reliable and excellent and inexpensive. The people who work at Bite are always unusually pleasant and seem happy at their jobs. It makes a lot of difference. I wish NY had more such places. At least there’s also a bigger one on W 22d Street and an even tinier one in Lafayette.
Great stop for all 3 meals of the day, plus a cafe selection. I loved the chicken panini and others seemed to love the chickpea quinoa salad. Really nice service and several tables for indoor seating. Don’t skip out on this cute and delicious neighborhood spot :)
Highly recommend, especially if you're vegetarian/vegan. Many options to choose from and my meal was delicious! Will be returning when I'm looking for food in the area.
Best Breakfast Sandwich Ever! This place is such a bargain too. My breakfast and latte was less than 10 bucks. MickyDs, eat your heart out. Stopped here twice in one day -- and in good food luxurious neighborhood like this, it's amazing even at the cheap end end of things!!
The best cheap eat in NYC with a twist of Mediterranean food , Thai , a little Italians flavors and the best Moroccan appetizers. The ambiance surrounding is so relaxing which featuring arts work on the wall from local artist and the staffs are wonderful . My favorite dish is the inspired Thai exotic curried tuna sandwich / salad and hot chai tea latte that keep me coming here for 14 years
Delicious Mediterranean influenced food. We went for a quick dinner and had great soup, sandwiches and hummus. Staff was polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend for a cheap yummy lunch or dinner!
Me and my romantic partner's favorite little spot to stop by on occasion since our college years. The food makes you feel good and full but not bloated. The prosciutto and mozzarella is my favorite.
Delicious restaurants. New One in Flatiron is truly beautiful. Good prices. Fun. Such a lovely place to feel like you're eating authentic Mediterranean food. Go have a bite.
The restaurant surprised my assumptions. The staff delivers acceptable service. Their plates come loaded and their prices stay modest. The food here tastes homemade but better. I'm truly fond of this spot.
I just stopped in here a lil while ago for a lunch pickup order I got the Gruyère grilled cheese which was pretty good I just wish it had a lil bit more of a kick. The tomato soup made it better though!. The service was fast and friendly!. Looking forward to coming back!!
Fantastic place! Very special. Can’t wait to go back there again!!! Had two different types of sandwiches—French Bite and Chicken Schnitzel. Delicious. I want to try them all. Service was very friendly.
Great spot for a cup of coffee and some amazing bites! Try all their panini sandwiches, they are fantastic and you can get combos like half a sandwich and a soup or salad. Great variety here and plenty of room for a group of friends.
Pros: Delicious food at an amazing price. I popped in for lunch on a brick afternoon. I had a Mediterranean grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was quite a filling, rich heavy meal for $12.70. I will be returning. Cons: My meal took 27 minutes to come out. I understand why so many people were pick ups now. As others have mentioned, the cashiers attitude is on the sour side. It is what it is, doesn't seem like that will change.
My go-to panini place. My favorite is the combo: half panini and half salad. Salami panini and Mediterranean salad. That combo is banging! So good!!! If you don’t know what to get; get that!! Also eggplant panini is solid too!! It’s filling, delicious, and a decent price! Also the service is top notch; gentleman at the front is very friendly and plays nice music.
Experience 5 - I went around 1245 on a Saturday for takeout lunch. No line, was in and out in 10 mins. They also have art and magazines you can browse while you wait. Offerings 5 - they have a decent selection of different kinds of sandwiches and salads. Most seem to lean healthy which can be hard to find on 14th. I got the Mediterranean 2 and it tasted good and was pretty big. Value 5 - my sandwich came out to 10.56 with tip. Most lunches are going to ring up to 12+ without tip in this area so I think this is good value for your money, especially considering the size and relative healthiness of the offerings. Overall 5 - I'll be back, great spot to pickup some fast, relatively healthy food
Best veggie burger in the world.....and I've done my research, trust me. To the shorty who works there taking orders : A smile and a hello doesn't cost you anything, my dear.
Make a special trip to enjoy one of their delicious sandwiches. Start with the Middle Eastern Egg Sandwich, then have a Tomato Soup and a Prosciutto & Mozzzarella Panini.
Middle eastern Turkey was awesome and the tomato soup (more marinara in flavor) was good with the bread. Nice spot to stop and sit
Went for breakfast. Small menu, but very good. Recommend anything authentic to the owners ethnicity. The place could use a good cleaning though... the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.
I had the soup and panini combo. The grilled chicken panini with mozzarella and roasted peppers was good, I like the sauce. The bean soup was good, it's spicy.
The goat cheese salad is wonderful with grannysmith apples and a balsamic vinaigrette that packs a punch. I also love the turkey-pesto Panini. Call your order in ahead if you're taking food to-go or you'll end up waiting a fairly long time for your food.
It was a cute hole in the wall serving soups and sandwiches. A little pricy for the unassuming building (though it's right off union square) but a nice local option if you're looking for a low key lunch spot.
Bite has become a go-to lunch option for my household. The sandwiches are always fresh, although sometimes the wait can be a bit longer than expected. Prices are pretty on par for NYC as well. They have many options so you can always try something different off the menu as well - lots of creative flavors to explore!
Great food for the price. Middle eastern menu with some very good salads, which I usually get for take out. Has been around for a long time and food quality has always been high. Friendly staff. A bit small and casual so not much of a "sit down" place but used to have live music some nights but think that has ended. There is another location on 22nd and 6th Avenue that I've not tried.
Three words: Turkey Pesto Panini. When I don't have it, I crave it. This place became one of my favorite places when I just moved to the city. I used to go there every day, sadly nowadays I live uptown so I don't visit as often. Every dish that I ate there was so good! And the best part is, that it's so inexpensive! The owner is really nice and cares about his customers. My top five are: the Turkey Pesto, Moroccan Cigars, the breakfast sandwich in brioche, the brownie (!!) and the mallawach!
One of the best under-the-radar lunch deals in the City. If you told me there was a soup and sandwich combo in Manhattan for under $10, I'd laugh you out of my way. But here, you'll find exactly that. Fresh soups, tasty sandwiches...all with a Mediterranean twist. Feels like you're at your friend's apartment and her mom is fixing lunch in the back. Love this spot.
Small and lean place. Efficiently operated. If you need a quick bite for lunch, the place covers sandwiches, paninis, soup and salad with many vegetarian or vegan options. The sandwiches here were super good, very consistent! The chicken snizel and vegan Mediterranean sandwich are my favorite ones.
First things first, this panini is made with high quality ingredients and you will know what I mean on your first “bite”. It’s so unfortunate that the chicken was over grilled, hence very dry and cardboard feel. I would’ve given full 5 stars if it weren’t the poor chicken quality. I hope they will see my review and make the grilled chicken juicier, I will definitely give it a second try another time, because their food has a lot of potential
Food is decent. Good sandwich option in East Village. Girl behind the counter is awful. Extremely rude.
The Proscuitto panini was delicious - I wouldn't say it's the most premium Proscuitto a la Salumeria Sergimmio, but it's only 7.50 and perfectly filling. Large nyu contingent coming here for early lunch it seems. They have a tv up with espn highlights.
Great tasting sandwiches and reasonably priced. I love stopping by this place to grab a quick lunch, and I'm always happy with what I get. (Usually the Pesto or Mozzerella paninis).
Good food but takes forever. It’s a small sandwich place but not sure why it takes half an hour to make a sandwich :( the takeout ETA when ordering online was also inaccurate. Not the best place for lunch or a *quick* bite during a workday, but I’ll come here when I have the luxury of time to wait. I did like the chicken schnitzel salad!
Though I rated its NoHo counterpart highly, I cannot give this location anything above an average score. It surely has its perks with a few tables to provide shelter for those polar vortex days, but the food was lacking.. food. I ordered the exotic tuna panini (this can be requested though it is only labeled for regular sandwiches and salads). The wait time was pretty in line with the other location, but when I went, there was hardly anyone ahead of me. The exotic tuna uses curry as a sauce, and the first bite was pretty good. However, after the initial "WoW," I realized there was hardly any tuna in my sandwich. It was literally all veggies and curry. I mean, how expensive is tuna? Not expensive enough for me to get a thin slather of tuna spread. The further in I went, the less tuna there was to be had. It was incredibly stingy of them, and I wished I had gone elsewhere for my quick bite. This location needs to take a note from their NoHo buddies, who are just plain killing it.
This East 14th Street sandwich shop is eco-conscious with good selections for vegetarians and vegans. The food is consistently good. It's tiny and gets really loud and crowded at lunchtime. But that's a testament to the quality...
Small place. Order was waiting for me ahead of estimated time. The cashier seemed overwhelmed. The food was a soild 2 star but i appreciate the effort.
Great food. The waitress needs more training on being more people friendly. There was no baby highchair available. If it wasn't for the food.. I would of gave 1 star. Customer service is a key component to the overall experience.
I used to always order from the Chelsea location on 22nd street, Bite 22. They even hooked it up when they messed up my order once. However, I cannot order delivery from Bite 22 anymore, too far away. This location is a pale shadow. The bread on the sandwiches is not fresh, the amount of chicken they give is basically a flat sheet...it might as well not be chicken they pound it so much (it's supposed to be pounded, but not to this extent). Cost cutting is a bit too blatant. They have not done me wrong and even give out some tomato sauce on the side for me... so I like them. I'm writing this hoping there is a slim chance they will up their quality based on this review and while I would consider Bite 22 a decent meal, Bite 14 is edible... I dont think I can order from here again. The food is too dissappointing. Maybe I'll try again in 6 months.
This place has new owners and the food is now a lot worse yet more expensive. Very strange ambience in there as well.
Highly recommend their turkey pesto panini and their chai latte. That was my lunch for a week straight. Just don't do delivery. I have ordered delivery three times there, and every time it took over 45 minutes. Worst, it's only a 10 minutes train ride away. However, the staff inside the cafe are really nice. If you can physically walk here, you'll have a nice lunch. Also they have another one around Houston and Lafayette Street.
Food was very good. I ordered a turkey pesto panini and it was delicious. Note that delivery takes a long time from here, which is fairly stated when you place the order, but not sure if I'd be willing to wait an entire hour again for delivery. What ruined the entire experience for me was the soup I ordered... or what was left of it. The container was completely destroyed and leaked soup all over the rest of the food. It wad soaked. Considering how carefully the rest of the order was wrapped up, it was surprising that the soup wasn't secured a bit better. Understandably these are the risks one must take when ordering delivery I suppose.
Two things are consistent here: Food is great, the female cashier RUDE! Has not even once been professional, always an RBF on and replies to questions like she is being forced to work there. I go there all the time, met the owner once he was nice and great customer service. I am not sure why cashier is still works there? No one else would hire her and she’s the owner’s daughter? Maybe she behaves differently when he’s around so he doesn’t believe the reviews?
The brunette at the front was such super rude. When we walked in she did not even look up from her phone to greet us. We waited for her to take our order. She looks up and ask well. what do you want? Oh I'm sorry I am coming into your establishment and trying to get lunch. My apologies. She takes our order and then says. Well is that it? Like yes Ma'am that is it. She kept rolling her eyes. I am not trying to start a fight or nothing. I just wanted my sandwhich. I felt bad for the older lady that asked why she did not get the 4% discount for paying in cash. Cashier told her they aren't honoring that anymore. The menu needed to be updated. Well at least take down the sign. Poor lady was out there counting change. The cashier was super rude towards the cook as well. Ain't no way she is not the owner's daughter because, why is she not talked to about her attitude at all. We get it. I dislike my job as well.
Staff with attitude and mean. Food is 👎. Lentil soup is can from walmart. Panini is like someone inexperienced made it
the food was great, but the lady by the cashier was very rude and gave many attitudes.
It's not open, hours still wrong.
Took my order online for pickup but the store is fully closed.
they call it “bite” because they put ingredients that aren’t listed on the menu description in your sandwich and so you don’t realize that you’re eating something that you’re allergic to until you take the first one :) (Had been getting the same sandwich for years and then all of a sudden they changed the recipe to include an ingredient that I can’t have and 1. didn’t mention it until I asked after biting into the ingredient and 2. did not update the menu on the wall.) now my face will be red and blotchy for the next week :D👍🏻 thanks bite on 14th!
I stopped in here a couple weeks ago because I heard the food is pretty good and this place is convenient for me. I ordered my sandwich (egg with hummus) and it took a long time to make. While waiting, I noticed a man in the restaurant with his dog. The guy behind the counter definitely saw the dog because he was chatting with the man (it appeared that they knew each other) Sorry, but I'm pretty positive this is illegal. I like dogs ok, but that's just gross. The man ordered and waited near me. I nearly said something, but I just ignored it. Dunno, I just think it's not cool.
All these stars for the staff and none for the manager! To the cashier: You were friendly and efficient. Thank you for your service. Five stars! To the cooks: You made a delicious sandwich! Thank you for your service. Five stars! To the manager: What is wrong with you? Zero stars. You came in, were impatient with me, and berated all of your staff in front of me rudely and for no good reason, and then stormed out. You tried to take my order but you don't seem to know how your POS system works and the cashier had to finish the transaction after you left. You also used very strong gendered language towards me despite my neutral gender presentation, which is forgivable but worth noting. Overall, you lack the social skills a good manager should have. Do better.
The brunette cashier with long hair is UNBELIEVABLY rude and hostile. I don't expect customer service workers to be outgoing and nice all the time, but she was actively mean and seemed upset by our presence. She was on her phone the whole time, practically dropped my coffee on the counter, and gave me my food to go even though I asked to stay. It's really disappointing because I used to love coming here and have had a great experience with other staff. But with her working, Bite will not be receiving my business (and it sounds like a lot of other customers share this opinion)! This experience just proves that customer service is skilled labor that not everyone is capable of performing. In the age of iPad ordering and GrubHub, we have devalued the importance of customer service as a profession. It is SO important to hire and train individuals who take this job seriously, and more importantly, compensate them accordingly!!
(from 12/13). the brunette cashier completely ignored me and continued talking to one of her friends at the counter. she rolled her eyes and scoffed "WHAT" at me. i ordered and she didnt say A WORD and angrily gestured to for me tap my card. she basically threw my food down on the counter and looked super angry when i was like is that mine? also my order was completely wrong and my soup had no broth it was just vegetables. never coming back
