THEP Thai in the Upper East Side really sets to impress. They have a beautiful interior while also a clean and cozy outdoor seating perfect for the warm weather. Definitely recommend starting your night out with their seasonal cocktails. It’s hits the spot and tastes amazing. Food was delicious and felt authentic. Every dish was full of flavor which you can tell they care about what they’re serving. Staffs were super friendly and on point without being too much. THEP Thai is a great spot with good vibes, great food, and wonderful drinks. Thinking Thai tonight? You already know where to go.
Great Thai spot in UES, open late and cute inside. Our server, Gift, was helpful, the food came out fast, and the flavor was there. Pad Thai was super flavorful, cooked well and good portion. The chicken cashew king was also flavorful. The rice that comes with it isn’t quite enough, but overall everything was good.
Food was exceptional, one of the best NYC Thai restaurants. Our server Mamein was very friendly and asked us about dietary restrictions which was helpful for us being vegetarian. We got the chive dumplings, pad kee Mao, and basil fried rice. The chive dumplings come with a curry sauce that’s very tasty. 10/10 would recommend
My family and I went to Thep on a cold Saturday afternoon! It was the perfect way to warm on a cold day! We walked in and the smell immediately made us hungry, it smelled phenomenal! The ambiance is very calming as well! Our waiter Minnie as well was an absolute delight, super sweet and welcoming
Absolutely amazing experience at Thep Thai on the Upper East Side! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly — every dish tasted authentic and perfectly balanced. The Khao Soi and drunken noodles were standouts and definitely worth ordering. What really made the night special was our server, PAIR. They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Great recommendations and excellent service all around. Warm atmosphere, delicious food, and top-tier hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot!
Came in on a Sunday for lunch. The place is super quaint, clean, and a nice spot to catch up with friends/family over delicious Thai food. Mameiw is the sweetest and took care of our table so well. If you’re ever in the UES I think it’s a great spot to stop by especially since it’s so close to the MET & Central Park as well.
THEP Thai offers traditional Thai cuisine while also weaving in modern touches. The space itself feels serene and intentional, and the staff made the whole experience feel welcoming and easy. There’s a lot of thought put into the menu, not just in taste, but in how it brings pieces of Thai culture to the table. We started with cocktails, my friend had the Mango Sticky Rice , made with rice-infused vodka, pandan liqueur, coconut rum, mango, lime, and milk. The drink captures the essence of khao niew mamuang, a classic Thai dessert of sticky rice with sweet mango and coconut milk. The pandan liqueur adds a soft vanilla-like aroma, which is commonly found in Southeast Asian sweets. It was smooth and not overly sweet. I ordered the THEP Mule. The vodka was infused with Thai basil, an herb used in many central and northeastern Thai dishes. Unlike sweet basil, Thai basil has a slightly spicy, anise-like flavor that pairs beautifully with lime and ginger. The drink had a refreshing, earthy tone with just enough kick from the ginger ale. We also shared Coffee or Me?, which was made with Thai iced coffee, vanilla vodka, Kahlúa, Godiva, and cream. Thai iced coffee (oliang) is usually brewed with strong robusta beans and sweetened with condensed milk. Here, it was turned into a dessert cocktail, rich and layered, but not too sweet ,chocolatey and creamy in the best way. For starters, we had the THEP Platter: a sampler of spring rolls, chive pancakes, crab rangoons, fried chicken dumplings, and fried shrimp dumplings. Each item had a crispy exterior and well-balanced filling. The crab rangoons, while originally Chinese-American, have become a common fusion item in Thai-American restaurants. The chive pancakes were savory and chewy, commonly found in Thai street markets under the name khanom gui chai. The Papaya Salad (som tum) came next. This dish originates from Thailand’s northeastern region, Isan, and traditionally includes green papaya, long beans, tomato, peanuts, chili, lime, and pla ra (fermented fish sauce). It’s known for its sharp, pungent, and spicy flavor. The version here was more muted fresh and crunchy, but the fish sauce and spice level were gentler, which made it more approachable, though slightly less authentic in intensity. The Tom Yum Soup was done very well. This is a national dish of Thailand, and the shrimp version (tom yum goong) is one of the most recognized Thai soups globally. It had the signature lemongrass and galangal notes, balanced with lime and chili. The addition of coconut milk isn’t always traditional but adds a creamy texture that rounds out the heat and makes the soup feel more luxurious. For mains, my friend had the Khao Pad Pu crab fried rice served in a coconut shell. Fried rice (khao pad) is a common Thai comfort food, often cooked in a wok with fish sauce, garlic, egg, and vegetables. Here, it was elevated with sweet chunks of fresh crab and actual coconut meat scraped from the shell, which added a natural, light sweetness. The dish came with a spicy seafood sauce on the side, providing that traditional chili-lime-fish sauce punch. The chicken red curry was also a standout. Gaeng phed is made from red chili paste, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, and often Thai eggplant or bamboo shoots. This version was creamy, aromatic, and had just the right amount of heat not overwhelming, but enough to highlight the richness of the curry paste. The chicken was tender and had absorbed the flavors well. I had the Ogg Pla Pan, a lesser-known but deeply flavorful dish. The branzino was seared well, but the shrimp paste curry it was served in was very bold rich with fermented fish sauce, dried chili, Thai herbs, and balanced with eggplant and cherry tomatoes. The sauce was intense and leaned salty, which could slightly mask the fish’s natural taste. It was still a very interesting dish for those who enjoy the deeper flavors typical of Southern Thai cuisine, where fermented seafood products are commonly used to create depth. Overall an amazing experience, will definitely be back.
Thep Thai is the best Thai food in UES and one of the best in the city. I've been eating here for the last 5 years, I'll always recommend Thep Thai. They are very efficient, food is very tasty, great service and nice atmosphere. Best Thai Food in UES. Gift was our server, she was super friendly and attentive. 5 stars.
This place was recommended to me by a friend, specifically for the hand pulled noodles… and it did not disappoint! Loved that they had available seating outside without a wait! The spicy udon was delicious, the noodles in the pad Thai were different than usual but I was a fan! Overall, would come again :) Nuy was the best!
Came here for lunch and had a krapao puff and tom yum shrimp fried rice. The krapao puff was flakey and buttery. I liked the flavor but wished that the krapao filling had more basil. The shrimp fried rice had a huge river prawn which was flavorful and had roe too. The rice was slightly spicy and well seasoned. Overall, our waitress Gift was very attentive and nice. She helped us get gloves to eat the shrimp! I’d highly recommend this place!
We had the pineapple fried rice and it tasted so good with such a fabulous presentation. Our server, Fou , is really passionate about the dishes and answered all our questions about some meat choices. We also couldn’t help ourselves and had a takeout in the end cos it’s so good. Would definitely come back again.
I had a wonderful experience at this Thai restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — full of authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and perfect spice balance. Every dish tasted freshly made and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive. Mamelm is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
Thep Thai is easily one of my new favorite spots for a night out, especially with its vibrant and unique decor. The food was incredible—everything was fresh, perfectly spiced, and full of authentic flavor. It’s definitely a standout choice if you’re looking for high-quality Thai cuisine in a great atmosphere. Our server, Four, was also super chill and made the whole experience even better with her great service. I’ll definitely be coming back here again soon!
THEP Thai Restaurant had beautiful ambiance and such beautiful food presentation. We were blown away by the service, Mameiw treated us great! We ordered the chive dumplings (which were wonderfully purple), tom yum soup, and chicken curry which were all flavorful and hit the spot. For drinks I got the Lychee Thai Iced Tea which was so unique and delicious.
Had a great time at THEP! The menu was thoughtfully created with beautiful pictures and dishes I haven’t personally seen anywhere else. Our server Mameiw was attentive and gave us a great experience our first time here. The interior is a mix of cozy and modern, decorated intentionally with plants and ambient lighting throughout. A great dinner spot!
Had the pleasure of having outdoor seating in the fall of the UES. Tables and area was clean and lights were romantic. Our server Mameiw was knowledgeable and helped zero in on what to choose on the menu and the Spicy Udon noodles did not disappoint! Overall a nice corner spot and you can tell why there is a short wait time during weekend dinner rushes (~20mins for table of two).
Great food and service. Authentic thai cuisine with great flavors. Was very busy upon arrival but got a table fairly quickly. Cozy spot for food and great atmosphere on the UES. Even had warm/heated bathroom and was super clean. Mameiw was super attentive and conscious about any allergies and was very knowledgeable about the menu. She noticed we had not given our order yet and came right over to assist. Hardworking and super helpful!
I love THEP Thai. I’ve been here so many times and I was last here for my friends birthday dinner. It’s my favorite Thai food on the UES. We were a group of 10+ and we had called to get a reservation earlier in the week for a Friday night and they were able to accommodate. I got a Thai iced tea and the khao soi. I love the food here (have tried most of the menu items). The service was super quick and friendly - we had a nice lady named Four as our host/server. Love this place and will be back!
This restaurant is great, 10/10 spot!! The ambience is very inviting and chic and the food was out of this world. My friend and I shred the fried chicken dumplings with a sweet chili sauce (delicious) and I got the Pad Kee Mao with Beef which has just the perfect kick. Four was our waitress and she was lovely - super attentive and helpful when figuring out what to order! Would totally eat here again!
Excellent dinner at THEP Thai!! Four was an incredible and efficient server. We got the Hoi Jar for our appetizer, Vanilla Almond Black Tea, Lychee Thai Tea, Khao Soi with beef, and Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp. DELICIOUS and just the right balance of flavors. Will definitely be back!
I ordered the Khao Pad Mun Nua, and it was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare — tender, juicy, and full of flavor with a beautiful seared crust. The rice complemented the meat perfectly, and the fresh greens added a nice balance. The waiter, Four, took excellent care of me and provided outstanding service. She was attentive, friendly, and made the dining experience even better.
Delicious, comforting Thai food with great attention to detail. The duck curry was a highlight. Crispy duck, rich coconut curry, pineapple, and basil in perfect balance. The rice bowl with a fried egg was simple but deeply satisfying, and the Thai iced tea was smooth and refreshing without being too sweet. Service made the experience even better. Anna was warm, attentive, and gave excellent recommendations, making us feel genuinely welcome. A great spot for an easy, enjoyable meal.
Thep Thai truly stands out, not just for its vibrant atmosphere, but for the exceptional quality and flavor depth found across its entire menu, especially in its vegetarian and chicken offerings. For those seeking plant-based dishes, Thep is a revelation. The menu is clearly labeled with excellent vegan options, and the kitchen handles substitutions perfectly. The Vegan Pad See Ew with tofu is arguably the best I’ve ever had—rich, smoky, and perfectly textured. Don't skip the Avocado Massaman Curry (available vegetarian/vegan), which is wonderfully creamy, savory, and loaded with tender sweet potato. The commitment to flavorful, authentic vegan food here is top-tier. On the non-vegetarian side, the chicken dishes are equally impressive. The Chicken Pad Thai is a classic for a reason, hitting that perfect balance of sweet and tangy tamarind flavor. However, the real showstopper is the Chicken Khao Soi (Northern Thai Egg Noodles)—the creamy coconut curry broth is incredibly deep and comforting, and the chicken (often bone-in, which adds to the authenticity) is cooked to perfection. It's an absolute must-try. Whether you're visiting for a comforting chicken classic or looking for sophisticated, flavorful vegan Thai, Thep delivers consistently high quality and is highly recommended. Minnie was awesome to help us with our order. A big thanks to her and entire staff for making our lunch good
To satisfy a night time Thai craving, I decided to try nearby THEP Thai and I was not disappointed! Me and my friends were greeted by the host who asked if we had a reservation but took no time to get my party seated. Our server Mameiw was nice. Once we placed drink orders, they arrived to the table so quickly... I was surprised. Food also came from the kitchen very quickly. Now, we know presentation is everything and THEP Thai nails it with presentation as much as they do flavor. Their Pad Kee Mao competes with my favorite restaurant and had the perfect spice content at medium spice. The Massaman curry and Krapow puffs were so delicious and comforting. I had their seasonal Hot Toddy which was nice and warming. And the Coconut Sorbet dessert was a dense and pleasant palate cleanser. I'm still eating it slowly as I write this review 😊 I appreciated how everything was plated and garnished. And the ambiance and decor was simple, green, dim and homely. This is must visit spot to eat any day of the week. Easily added to my go-to Thai spots in the city! #itsfoodovereverything
Came here on a weekday dinner without a reservation and was able to be seated right away. They have smaller tables for 2 and larger tables for 4+. The vibe is dark, moody, elegant. The service was very good We got a starter (that I'm now forgetting the name of) that was excellent. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce was great. I also got a cocktail which I thought was good. For mains we got the pad kee mao and massaman curry. Both were great! I personally wish the massaman curry would've been spicier but I like my food spicy. The portion size was decent too - we had some leftovers to take home. Overall I recommend and I'd definitely go back!
We had such a great lunch at THEP! We happened to be in the area and found it on Google and decided to drop in, and I’m so happy we did! It was my boyfriend’s first time eating Thai and he loved it! Everything was wonderful. Our server, Gift, was so helpful with her suggestions, and very fast with the service. I definitely recommend coming here! Great ambiance, delicious food, and great service.
So much to say about this spot. The inside is absolutely gorgeous. We came on a Sunday around 8pm, and while it was busy, it never felt overwhelming. Our server, Mameiw, was attentive and happy to answer all of our questions. Watching the food come out was an experience in itself; such a show! Every dish had its own distinct flavor and was incredibly delicious. I’d gladly travel from Brooklyn by train to come back again. Don’t miss out!
We had lunch at Thep today and it was great! The portions were generous and everything was very tasty. We also tried one of their specialty mocktail and it was delicious. The space feels warm and inviting — we really enjoyed the interior design. It’s a small place, but that just makes it even more charming and authentic. We would definitely love to come back again!
Had a wonderful Lunar New Year dinner at Thep Thai Restaurant in Manhattan! The food was absolutely delicious — the Tom Yum Shrimp Soup was perfectly balanced, the Pineapple Fried Rice was flavorful and beautifully presented, and the Chu Chee Pla Tod was crispy with an amazing curry sauce. We also loved the chive dumplings and Thai iced tea. Great atmosphere, cozy setting, and perfect for group gatherings. Highly recommend!
This is a hidden gem for Thai food! The service was excellent, and the staff kindly introduced their signature dishes to us. The Kaolaonuertoon was our favorite — both my friend and I loved it. The flavor was amazing. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and will come back again!
amazing food omg and i’ve had so much thai food in this city but this was sth else!! we ordered Gaeng Phed Ped Yarng (duck curry) and Khao Pad Mun Nua (exceptional rice) and were so happy with both the portion and flavor. we were there early but they let us in and get us seated fairly quickly. staffs were super sweet (especially Minnie!!) and the space is just gorgeous!! perfect space for all party sizes honestly - they have a big table for party of 15 that looks nice and very spacious.
Thep was absolutely delicious! We got the chicken pad Thai, chicken pad see ew, and spring rolls and all were delicious and I can’t wait to go back. Definitely get a Thai iced tea as well—super tasty and an all time fav. Thank you to our sweet waitress Kade for great service and recommendations! 😋
I came here for a solo dinner on a Monday night and I had the pleasure of being served by Kade. This is my second visit to Thep and the service was just as good as my 1st experience. The food was good and very filling. I love iced tea, but the Thai iced tea might be my new favorite drink. I tried 2 new dishes the crispy chicken dumplings and Khao Pad Pu. I loved both and had leftovers for the next day. This is officially my favorite Thai restaurant in New York.
Recently dined at Thep Thai and had a wonderful experience overall. The Massaman curry was absolutely delicious, rich in flavor, tasty, and with a quantity generous enough for two people to share comfortably. The chive pancake was another highlight; it was so good that we ended up ordering it twice, though it was a bit softer than expected. The chive dumpling with Massaman curry was decent, but we felt the curry portion was slightly less for four dumplings. Beyond the food, the ambience was warm and welcoming, adding to the enjoyable dining experience.
Nice ambience and nice food with ample of vegetarian options as well. They were able to cater Jain food too. We ordered Basil Fried Rice, Papaya Salad, Masaman Curry and Drunken noodles. The curry was a bit on the sweeter side. Might be better to mention the spice level next time. Basil Fried rice and Drunken noodles were on point. They are also gluten free. The ambience is nice and the place is always packed on weekends so better to reserve in advance and go. Only giving 4 star because the place is bit on the pricier side and the portion size might not justify it. Apart from this, we were given a table that was shared with other people.
We stopped by Thep Thai without a reservation and waited a bit for an outdoor streetside table, which was fine. Unfortunately, the service fell short, after being seated, we barely saw our server except when the food arrived. The dishes we ordered were just okay: not bad, not great, simply average. I’m honestly surprised by all the five-star reviews, though it’s possible we just didn’t order the right dishes. Either way, it didn’t stand out enough for us to return, especially since it doesn’t compare to our regular favorite Thai spot.
