Absolutely loved the food at Up Thai! Poh Tak Thai-style was comforting and flavorful, packed with fresh shrimp, mussels, and squid. The broth was aromatic, and the garlic bread on top was a perfect touch. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. Also, The host(Jern) was incredibly kind and welcoming. Definitely coming back!
What an amazing a meal! The standout dishes for me were the Hoi Jor, Crispy Shrimp and Squid, Duck Tamarind and Beef Short Rib Panang. Service was great and the decor was on point! I think they just finished remodeling the restaurant. Highly recommend!
This was my second time at Up Thai and it somehow managed to be even better than the first. I came straight from Brazil with my mom and was truly impressed to see how packed and vibrant the restaurant is. It’s clearly a place people love coming back to, and now I understand why. The food is absolutely outstanding and the quality is consistently impeccable. Every dish is beautifully prepared and full of flavor. What made the evening even more special was the service. Pearl and Mali were exceptional. They were warm, attentive, incredibly professional, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Their hospitality elevated the entire experience. Up Thai is one of those rare restaurants where everything works perfectly: the food, the atmosphere, and the people. I will absolutely come back every time I’m in New York and will continue recommending it to everyone I know.
FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE deceivingly large portions. 4 guys came to eat and we got 4 entrees and 2 appetizers and had leftovers. We were serviced by Malee and she was the sweetest, super attentive to us and made this experience so seamless
UpThai is my favorite Thai restaurant in NYC and an absolute must whenever I am in the city. The cool vibe, warm lighting, and fun, friendly atmosphere make it such an enjoyable place to dine. Everything on the menu is delicious, and some dishes even change slightly with the seasons, which keeps things exciting. Our go-to favorites are the curry puffs, the Up Thai fried rice clay pot, and the beef short rib panang. Each dish is full of flavor, beautifully prepared, and perfectly spiced. UpThai never disappoints.
My girlfriend and I came here for the first time and I have to say this is an amazing place Travis and Jen were phenomenal at the bar. Everyone was very attentive, the atmosphere is amazing. What a vibe, the food was great, definitely coming back and would highly recommend. Thank you guys! See y'all soon.
We booked this restaurant based on reviews and we were so pleased we did. When we got there it was bonkers, we had to wait shortly for our table but once seated we could see why it was so busy. Staff are really lovely, friendly and attentive. Restaurant is decorated beautiful and the food lives up to the reviews. We ordered chicken satay, pad thai and tamarind duck. Stunning food. Highly recommend and make sure you make a reservation to save disappointment.
Bell was a great server, very attentive and kind. They also made sure everything came out good. Food was amazing and large portions as well!
Love love love Up Thai 😍 every time is such an amazing experience. This time we had Malee as our server and she was so sweet and warm ❤️ The food was incredible and the restaurant always has a lovely and welcoming atmosphere, great for conversation :) Will 100% be back!
This is one of our go-to thai places in the Upper East. Served and prepared by Thais, food and vibe are definitely authentic. Highly recommended. Kudos to Ginger for taking care of us.
Read the reviews and saw the pictures, but actually eating the food was a whole different experience—in the best way. I love trying new Thai spots, and Up Thai did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the space has such a cozy, welcoming vibe. Don’t judge it by the front view—once you step inside, the atmosphere completely changes. It’s the perfect spot for solo dining or a relaxed night out. P.s hopefully you get Kimberly she was the best server!
Amazing food and drinks! My boyfriend and I came here for the first time and just loved every bit of it. Everything came out fast and Malee was so hospitable, answered all our questions and was personable, helped with food adjustments that we thought would be good. Malee was awesome, ask for her if you can!
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city, homely, intimate with a bustling vibe, friendly, and consistently good food. The krabraw gai sub is spicy and tasty, the green curry chicken creamy and flavored, the Khao soi is on point, as are the other street food options on rice. Even the Thai chicken wings was exceptional and a favorite appetizer (sometimes even main) of mine. The staff are friendly and helpful, this evening we were helped by Bell, who was just wonderful. The walk in wait times range between 15 to 30 mins, so you'll always get in depending on the day. But they are already always busy, so please don't come! ;)
We decided to have lunch here recently and check out the lunch specials. The location is in the middle of the block on second avenue between 73 and 74. It was really busy and there is very little warm space to stand as we waited for a table. The lunch specials menu is pretty good. Lots of choices. We ordered Pad Khing with beef and Kya Gai with chicken. Large portions. We each had tofu vegetable soup and I got crispy spring Roll and she got steamed dumplings. All very tasty. A lively place full of young people, many Asians. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely will go again.
I ordered the tamarind salmon and it was everything I hoped for. The service was also top-notch. Worth noting that the restaurant is very popular. I went on a Monday evening and there was already a line when I arrived, and an even longer one when I left. Making a reservation in advance is a good idea.
Whenever I’m on the Upper East Side, Upthai is one of my go-to spots. The service is always warm and attentive, and the festive décor gives the place such a cheerful, welcoming vibe that makes you feel at home. The pork chop is my absolute favorite — unbelievably tender, full of flavor, and the portion is generous enough to leave me completely satisfied. Upthai never disappoints, and it’s a place I always look forward to returning to whenever I’m in the neighborhood.
I tried Up Thai for the first time and it instantly became one of my favourite Thai spots. The mango salad was super fresh and flavourful, the chicken pad thai had the perfect balance of sweet and savoury, and the panang curry was rich, creamy, and packed with amazing flavour. The ambiance was also incredible — warm, modern, and a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Service was friendly and quick as well. Overall, one of the best Thai dining experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend!
Amazing! We all loved everything we ate. We had the short ribs, the thalay tai, pad kee mao and masaman curry. All were so tasty and flavourful. Some plates were level 4 spicy and it was pretty spicy. But not overbearing if you like spicy. We had Tanya as our waitress and her service was top notch. Such a lovely person and her recommendations were on point. Definitely will to come back.
My mother and I recently visited Up Thai and had a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere made it a perfect spot for either lunch or a date night. The only small downside was the clear plastic partitions between some of the tables — likely leftovers from COVID — but honestly, that’s just a minor detail in an otherwise outstanding dining experience. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for amazing Thai food and great vibes!
We absolutely loved our lunch at UpThai! Every dish we ordered was incredible! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive-warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. We were celebrating our twins’ birthday, and the staff surprised them by coming out to sing Happy Birthday with a delicious mango cheesecake and coconut ice cream. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the day extra special. The atmosphere was cozy and vibrant, and everything from start to finish was excellent. Highly recommend UpThai, we’ll definitely be back!
After quite an exhaustive visit to The Met, decided to grab a late lunch at Up Thai. This was our first visit and we did not have a reservation, but we were lucky to get a table. The host and the place is warm and welcoming but what won us over were the cocktails and food. One of the drinks, with a floating banana leaf and crispy Jasmine rice ball on the top was theatrical on the eyes as well as the pallette. Highly recommend going for the house special of the season. The dessing on the beef salad was very well balanced. And I would have married the soft crab in the cocount curry if we had not scraped the bowl for the last drop of that flavorful curry. The staff attended to us with utmost care and made the whole experience enjoyable. This is definitely worth a visit.
Where do I begin, I just happened to stumble upon this gem that has been here for 13years. The Menu is phenomenal, we had the short rib and soft shell crab on the summer special menu and everything was 10/10. The only thing I regret is not getting the mango salad branzino, but I will be back!! Thank you so much to Salina, for being so helpful with answering any questions we had and making wonderful recommendations! Salina really added to our overall positive experience! The chefs menu is also stellar. This is my new Thai go to spot, also affordablish prices!
Places was packed even at 4pm and rightfully so. Went with some friends and tried four different dishes. I would recommend the place for sure. Service was fast, food was plated well, portions were large for the price, and most importantly tasty. I would definitely recommend trying the Thai iced tea lemonade, a wonderful flavor combination I haven’t had before. I will be back.
Stopped here for takeout and ordered their braised short rib panang curry. It was so tasty and flavorful.

Delicious food, great service and good atmosphere! Best place we ate in in NYC .. would recommend the cashew dish and spring rolls
Tucked away on the Upper East Side, this charming Thai restaurant is a hidden gem that quickly fills with the buzz of happy diners. The decor is playful and colorful, with fun details that give it a welcoming, slightly eclectic character--think warm lighting, pops of tropical color, and little touches that make you feel like you're on a laidback getaway. We were there over the weekend and ordered the rich and aromatic Panama Curry, bursting with coconut flavor and just the right amount of heat, and the Beet Pad Thai, which balances savory and sweet perfectly. Whether you're grabbing a casual weeknight dinner or meeting friends for something a little different, it's an easy spot to fall in love with.
The Kao Nar Gai lunch special ($18 plus tax) had tender white chicken which contrasted nicely with the crunch of the fresh vegetables. The set meal comes with your choice of an appetizer plus soup or salad. Skip the salad roll ($12). It tasted dry, even with the dipping sauce. The service is fast and efficient; Up Thai has a bigger wait staff than most comparably-sized restaurants.
Another great Thai restaurant in NYC! The flavors weren’t mind-blowing or life-changing, but everything was executed very well. We got the mango avocado salad, the clay-pot fried rice, and the soft shell crab in red curry from the summer menu. Our favorite was probably the mango avocado salad—it had a perfect level of spice and acidity to complement the rest of the meal. The clay pot fried rice was a bit underwhelming for me. Although the blend of different types of meat offered great textures, the flavor was uniform throughout the entire dish—everything tasted like sweet soy sauce or eel sauce. The soft shell crab curry was great and tasted just as expected.
After you step into the door, you will meet Host is very kind and beautiful , smiling and friendly to you. Including the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. In addition, the smiling staff Talking about the delicious food.So even though steamed Buns, Pork is dry and hard , i love Steamed Fish with ginger and scallions. But after I’m done,I would like to pack my food home ,I was waiting for the staff to help pack food for me is very long long time, no one paid attention to me. Even though there was a woman had a tattoo came to ask and help me bring my food to pack for me while the restaurant is not busy on that time. On the other hand, after my food arrived. my bill came quickly !!!, How ever all of the staff and manager was cute, smiling and good mood from the entrance of the restaurant.

We celebrated my friend’s birthday and had made a reservation in advance. To their credit, our table was ready upon arrival, which we appreciated. However, it is important to note that for parties of 10 or more, there is a required minimum spend of $50 per person, which was not clearly communicated beforehand and may catch some guests off guard. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing. The food was excessively salty, which took away from the enjoyment of the meal. More concerning was the quality of service. The server’s attitude noticeably affected the atmosphere. There were visible eye rolls and a dismissive demeanor that made our group feel unwelcome. After dinner, the server asked whether we wanted to cut and eat the birthday cake. When we said yes, they checked their watch and sighed, which felt unprofessional and disrespectful, especially during a birthday celebration. Moments like this made us feel rushed and uncomfortable, rather than celebrated. A restaurant experience is not just about the food, but also about hospitality. While the setting and reservation process were adequate, the service attitude needs significant improvement. If staff are unhappy or unwilling to provide courteous service, it negatively impacts guests and special occasions. I hope management addresses this and works on improving customer service, as it makes a meaningful difference.
