Great spot for authentic Italian! Easy to get a table walk-in / without a res. Puppy friendly and many vegetarian options or substitutions. Owner gave us chicken for the pup and dessert on the house! Love this place will definitely be back
Really delicious food and really good portions. One thing that stood out was the head waiter/host - he was lively, friendly and made us feel almost at home. Would recommend to everyone who likes Italian food. The only critique I have is that it would really be the icing on the cake if they played Italian music on the speakers instead of pop music.
Good atmosphere, familiar and great place for take your date, the servers all of them were great and one in special Camila she was awesome always with a smile! The food delicious, vibe and dessert great! 100% recommend!
Was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I have never experienced hospitality the way they provide here. Our server, Marciano was fantastic and made sure we were catered to. The owner I believe is so sweet and we definitely felt at home in this restaurant. The food was delicious! I got the prosciutto wrapped scallops and they were cooked perfectly. They accommodated my allergy well and made sure my meal was still top tier although I needed substitutions. The actual space is incredibly cozy, and you truly feel like you’re going over to a loved ones for food. Highly recommend if you’re traveling or even from NYC. Next time Im in NYC I will 100% be returning!
Truly an authentic New York experience. The owner treats you like family from the moment you walk in the door. He treated us to a tasting menu and kept the wine flowing on our girls trip. A great way to end out a weekend with life long friends, and the food was authentic Italian with great flavors and reasonable prices. Thank you !!! 😊 We can’t wait to come back!
Come here if you are looking for solid Italian food and friendly atmosphere. The owner Nando and his staff are among the most friendly and welcoming in NYC if not the nation. The service was phenomenal, second only to the amazing food. Please add this to your things to experience in New York.
We ordered delivery. Had chicken paillard, minestrone soup, and broccoli. The food was excellent/delicious, arrived freshly cooked sooner than we expected, and was fairly priced. Buon Gusto is now on our list for future patronage.
From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for something special. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cozy and elegant, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that invites you to linger. The staff were attentive without being intrusive—genuinely welcoming and clearly passionate about what they do. Now, the food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was a celebration of flavor and freshness. perfectly seasoned, beautifully plated, and bursting with character. Even the sides and sauces felt thoughtfully crafted, elevating the entire experience. What truly sets this restaurant apart is its attention to detail. From the curated wine list to the impeccable timing between courses, everything felt seamless. It’s rare to find a place that nails atmosphere, service, and cuisine with such finesse. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just craving something extraordinary, this restaurant is a must-visit. I left feeling full, happy, and already planning my next visit.
WOW!!! I’m sad we haven’t come here sooner. Definitely my favorite Italian in the neighborhood so far! Food was amazing and service was exceptional. The owner was so kind and generous, and made great recommendations for dishes to try, we loved everything that we had. This will be an UES staple for us and can’t wait to go back!
Such a lovely little authentic Italian restaurant. The food was devine and the service felt like you were in a little restaurant in Rome. The food tasted like real Italian food. This place is like a little hidden gem. The owner is there everyday and takes cares of his costumer. You definitely need a reservation for this place because It it quite small inside. The mushroom pasta was so good and the seasonal pumpkin one was so good. Overall 9/10
Go! for the pasta & the soups, skip everything else, and don't expect attentive service. The pasta's were divine. Perfectly made Gnocchi, pasta's that were cooked to perfection, sauces that showed a nuanced attention to details. Soups showed a similar attentiveness to ingredients and care. Unfortunately, the rest of the menu is a disappointment - bread was somewhat stale and cold. Cheeses were uninspired and somewhat tasteless, cured meats were just lumps of nondescript lumps. Desserts were ok, but nothing to write home about. Wines were above average and even though it wasn't 1/2 price night, our server kindly offered it to us anyway. However, service was abysmal. Dishes were delivered on top of each other, even thought we specifically told them we were in no rush and wanted to savor each course, many times water glasses remained unfilled and dishes just sat as the staff chit chatted among themselves.
Had dinner here with a friend last night and really enjoyed our Mediterranean salad, mussels, and linguine with clams. I am gluten-free, so they made my linguine as a gluten-free penne pasta. The service was excellent, but the space is very tight. Seems like the tables are actually too small. Also, there was a table of people that was sat right up under our elbow that cursed the entire time which made it somewhat unpleasant. The price point was a bit higher than you might expect. We paid $164 before tip for two people to have dinner with one glass of wine each.
The restaurant has a nice cozy feel to it. It sort of feels like you're eating at your grandparents. Friendly staff and the food arrived swiftly. We ordered the bruschetta which was delicious. Our mains arrived quickly after. We ordered the linguini vodka with fresh mozzarella. The plates did have some chips on them which was a bit disappointing but overall the experience was nice and I'd dine there again.
The sergeant at NYPD 19th Precinct said this is one of the best Italian places locally so when my wife said she wanted spaghetti sauce and meatballs I figured let's give them a try. We walked a few blocks to get and waited for the order to be prepared. The decor was basic, the waiter was quick and attentive. But the food is the main focus and unfortunately it was a mistake. My wife who ate the meal said this was almost like a microwave bowl of chef boyardee. Nothing like what you would expect from a nice Italian restaurant in midtown Manhattan. The captain might be capping and the chef is slacking.
I can say this restaurant is in a beautiful area but, highly expensive for their meal. The space was crowded, it was hard to hear my family. Feeling super cramped. We literally had to scream. The waiter was nice but, felt rush. The Salad was delicious and nicely served. Didn’t seem like there wasn’t enough dressing. But, overall it’s was good.
Food was solid, but honestly for the price you can go to another Italian restaurant that's more put together. My issue is with the service. They were were incredibly impatient and we felt like we were rushed. The waiter came 3 times in a 10 minute period to take our order. After we got our food we felt rushed to eat and leave. Also it's cramped even by NYC standards. If you want a nice chill or romantic place, this definitely isn't it. I feel like it's better for a quick lunch.
This is unfortunately an average cantine restaurant. I wonder if the owner will give his nona the food he offers in the restaurant. We had some pasta dishes, all very greasy, almost tasteless. My spaghetti aglio e peperoncino same tons of oil, garlic was burned and bitter. Deserts above average, appreciate the one on the house though. Service terrible, glasses with marks of lipstick from previous customers..and departure they told us we must pay a min 22% tip, restaurant rule :-)....hahaha, I wish them luck to charge this tip level considering their service level and food quality
