If I could give an extra star I would! This place does everything right: GREAT customer service (they always make a point to remember my name and order), QUALITY and QUANTITY (I get the $8 platter and I always have leftovers and it's so delicious. I am also really sensitive to any kind of pesticides so I know the ingredients are high quality). AND not only is the food truck amazing they also do a really QUICK and EASY CATERING service. Thank you Uncle Gussy's, I'll see you soon!!
Don't be scared by the long line, the guys in the truck move FAST and you won't be standing around long. Be ready to give the guy at the window your order before he finishes with the person in front of you because he'll be ready to take it while they're still paying. I've been sad to see the last bite go every time I've eaten here. Good prices for midtown and great food; can't go wrong here.
Great lunch spot! Tasty and inexpensive. The only downside is the long lines they get during the lunch rush hour. I always get the combo (chicken and lamb) with the works (sauteed onions, hot sauce and white sauce) over rice. Delicious!
Uncle Gussy's is my favorite food truck. Don't be intimidated by the long line. It moves fast and you get your food extremely fast after you order. The portions are big and the food is delicious. I make it a mission to go there at least once a week.
The line speaks for itself. The food is authentic and delicious. The tzatziki sauce is a must have and the hot sauce is amazing. Gyro is delicious and the fries you must try at least once. Do get the salad when you want to try something lighter, no regrets.
This is our first stop every time we visit New York. Gussy's food is fantastic, super tasty and served hot and fast, street side. The owner has an exceptional memory of his customers and recalled our past visit, immediately, from nine months ago. Highly recommended and completely worth the trip. Grab some hot food, sit on the church steps and watch the city.
Great food truck, one of the best in NYC. You can see the food is good by the long lines everyday (don't worry though, they move fast, Nick is great). I always go with the pork souvlaki platter + the works (tzatziki, hot sauce, and grilled onions) but all options are good.
Had the pork souvlaki today and I had to upgrade to a perfect 5 star score simply because it was SOOO fatty and juicy, yet perfectly smokey and charred. So you get that juicy, juicy inside contrasted with the charcoal smoke flavor. Just perfect today.
Love this truck, could eat here everyday. Lines can get long but they move along well. Usually stick with my go to pork pita but everything is great.
Uncle Gussy's food truck on 51st & Park is the epitome of quality & deliciousness. The combination of quality & quantity is top notch. The food is honestly transformative and enlightening (not hyperbole). It is a breath of fresh air in the polluted, hectic, chaos of New York City. 10/10 would recommend.
Not only is the food amazing but the customer service was top tier! I didn't have any cash with me and the owner was kind enough to still prepare my food, & trust that I would make the order online & pay there. You don’t find service like that anywhere in NYC. 10/10 highly recommend. I had the chicken breast Gyro with fries added. Plus the greek and hot sauce. Delicious.
We had just flown in and needed something before heading to a Colbert taping. We had no expectations, but absolutely loved the food. Only thing we didn't love was the sausage and only because it was seasoned in a way that wasn't for us. All of the other meats, sides and sauces were seasoned perfectly, tender, and delicious.
The best gyro is NYC! My brother made me go super out of the way to get us some and they really lived up to the hype. Also such amazing vibes from everyone there so we can’t wait to go back!
Very good Greek food truck. Food tastes fresh and is well seasoned. The meat tastes like it was cooked over a fire like a BBQ. Fries are very crispy. The white sauce is very tasty. If you are a garlic lover like me this sauce is really good. Make sure to check if there are any daily specials they are usually very good. Also they have a website so you can order ahead instead of waiting in the very long line.
There’s a reason why this food truck always seems to have a line of people waiting when it’s open! The food is absolutely divine. It was my favorite food truck I tried in NY by far. The fries are crunchy and flavorful/soft on the inside, the beef is so well cooked and flavorful, and the sauce tied everything together. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with their menu! Just remember to bring cash or use venmo/epay so you can take your delicious meal home!
very good food at very good price. they use the good lettuce and tomato. i ordered the gyro pita and its very tasty. Has good flavor. not over salted, over greased, and over sauced like so many other gyros in the city. The line is loooooooong but they are quick. Very nice people too.
This is by far one of the best Greek meals I have ever had in my life. 10 out 10. I truly can't say enough. I'm not one to leave reviews, but this was truly so good I had to.
I've worked nearby for years, and I can't believe it has taken me this long to try this place! I love it - well-priced, amazing portions, and the food is delicious! Everyone working there is super friendly :) Great place for lunch!!
Definitely lives up to the hype. Came here a few weeks ago and waited on about a 20 minute wait. Looked extremely long but they move fast and are like machines. I had 2nd thoughts about waiting but really wanted to try it. Boy was i happy i stayed on line. Absolutely incredible- i got the hercules plate it was full of gyro crispy fries and salad. Their hot sauce is amazing. The fries are amazing - the "greek salad" could definitely use some more love and dressing. But still 5 stars for me. Just go and wait on line you will not be disappointed.
The gyro platter is excellent. The food here is consistently good, no matter which day of the week it is or which time you go. The lines are usually long, but they move reasonably fast as the personnel in the truck are efficient.
SOo, caught Uncle Gussy's on a very light foot traffic day (last time the line was around the corner and extending up Park Ave). What immediately impressed me was the large and very clear informational sign, instructing guests on what and how to order! Ordered their biggest meal, the Hercules, since I was sharing and wanted (more than) enough for self. The food was great (!!) as expected. The quantity, though, is what prompted emotions of love and will guarantee a return. Uncle Gussy's 'feeds you like family' and this can't be overstated. The service was focused and very friendly, and as a native-NYer I cherish that. Very glad I bumped into UG on the way back from running around in midtown this week. - a very satisfied Guy
Best greek food truck in town, location although very busy is highly efficient keeps the line moving fast and prices are fair for the area. The meals are filling and no complaints on taste at all. Keep in mind this isn't Greece so you're not getting the best feta and gyro in the world but for nyc this is on par with the best I've had especially coming out of a food truck.
good food and good price. these guys have been there for yrs and I haven't even noticed if they've ever raised their prices. they're good to their customers and that's why there's always a long line, but it moves quickly. i always get the Hercules combo the works. Love Uncle Gussy's.
One of my favourite places for lunch in midtown. Usually a long line but well worth it. The line moves much faster than one would expect. Great value for money and delicious gyros and fries. Greek salad is also excellent. Cash only.
Excellent service. I walked up to a friendly smile and less than 5 mins later had meals for three, that ended with leftovers. Amazing gyros, easy and affordable as well.
Looking for one delicious and amazing Greek food in NYC. Check out uncle gussy food truck on 51st street and park ave. I’ve had good gyro 🥙 and other great Greek dishes but something about the food here is remarkable and different, the potions are very well enough for the price. The food is very flavorful and well done. The customer service experience was one of a kind and they just makes you feel so at home . It’s very addicting and very well worth the experience. I definitely recommend you guys dropping by and checking them out. You could never miss that beautiful blue truck once you in that side of town. Stop by and try it . You won’t be disappointed
Gussy's is arguably the best food truck in NYC, and I've eaten at a LOT of them. Anyone giving this place a review below 5 stars needs their head examined. Portions are amazing for the price, and the food quality is excellent. Chicken is always well seasoned and grilled perfectly, tzatziki, hot sauce, and grilled onions is bangin. If you go here you will not be disappointed.
I absolutely love Greek food and this place serves some of the best Greek food I've ever had. Be sure to order the Pork Slovakia on the side with any order and eat it and the pita bread seperately, not combined. Everything from the vegetables even to the box served in are of high quality. Price is very reasonable as well for what you're getting. They're also extremely fast so it's easy even for drivers to pick up from here quickly and be out before getting a ticket. Be sure to bring cash!
Uncle Gussy food truck home right around my home and I’ve never seen a food vendor a clean and well maintained like they do . They are so hygienic they wash up their food truck in and out Really amazed how clean they are. And they’re is really great highly recommended and I do admire your cleanliness! Salute!
Line moves quick, delicious food, solid prices. Came here to catch up with a friend last year and it was one of the best bites I had in NYC. Hope this truck continues to operate for a long time!
The team here offers personalized service. The quality shows throughout. The team provided quick service without any errors. I find myself here every few days. I can only tell you what I thought.
Uncle Gussy’s is hands-down one of the best Greek food experiences I’ve had in NYC. For anyone who works in Midtown, you’ll know what I mean – there’s always a line starting around 11 am, and for good reason. I always go for the Hercules gyro with extra chicken, and it never disappoints. The meat is perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and pairs beautifully with their fresh tzatziki sauce. The fries are crisp, perfectly portioned, and the rice is spot-on – not too greasy, just the right amount of flavor. They add in lettuce, tomato, feta, and olives for balance, making every bite a pleasure. Beyond the food, their service is top-notch. The online orders are always on time, with every detail right. The team is friendly, efficient, and it’s clear that Uncle Gussy’s is run with care. You get great quality and generous portions at a fair price – something we need more of in NYC. In a nutshell, you pay for what you get.
5/5, no doubt, we had a couple of pita gyro's with lamb that where so good we could not believe it, the Zucchini fritters were also awesome and the attention from our Argentinian friend at the register was great, we got our order very quick but spend some more minutes just talking to him about life. If you want a quick, tasty and really good grab in NYC, this is your place
The taste and quantity get you feeling like you're eating like a Greek god. I had to skip dinner.
I am a huge fan of Greek Food and I didnt expect this restaraunt to be perfect. The taste of food was exactly similar to meals of greek restraunt when i visited greece. The prices was a bit expensive but it was worth it.
Passed by the truck last week and saw a long line, so I decided to try it since greek food is my favorite. Went there today, and luckily, I didn't have to wait bc it was freezing. Got greek salad with chicken! It was delicious. Very well seasoned. Tender chicken. Perfect dressing, a generous serving! Quick and friendly service.
I love this place. I usually get chicken breast over fries which comes with a little salad and pita. I add sauteed onions, and hot sauce with tzatziki. Hot sauce is spicy enough but if you aren't into heat don't get it. Also, they put a liberal amount of sauce on the food so if you don't like that add it to the side. Even if there is a long line the wait is not bad at all. The service is great, the guys who take orders and hand them out are extremely nice and friendly. Price is pretty decent for the amount of food you get. Highly recommend this truck. It's pretty much a must go if I am in the area.
Uncle Gussy's is easily one of the best food trucks on Manhattan island. I can attest very firmly to this because I have been to over 50 since the pandemic struck. If we're only including food trucks that have regular hours and locations, Uncle G's might truly be the best on this island. The portions are great and all the meat they offer is excellent. I've been coming here for years and the quality has remained consistently high. I lived in the UES and Uncle G's had better kebabs than almost every single sit-down Turkish or Greek joint I went to.
This is a food truck located on Park Avenue in the low 50s. The food is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. We always get a gyro with red onions, Lettuce and sauce on the side. The gyro is HUGE. It's about $10 and is very fresh. The staff is so friendly and personable. My brother told me about the spot and my brother is very particular about where he buys his food. He normally doesn't eat truck food. This is the ONLY place where he will go. If you're in the area, stop by and try their tasty food. I think they close around 3:30 or 4pm so it's best to just call them up for confirmation. I hope they never leave NYC. With so many things changing, it's a nice feeling to know that good people who sell good food are still around.
$20 for two of us to eat a NY phenomenal street vendor food truck. “Eat where the locals eat.” And we did. Took lunch over to the lobby of nearby high rise and ate in the warmth. Wife and I both had the gyro lamb/beef combo with the works. The spicy sauce is tasty and has a good kick. Tzatziki sauce cut that heat just right.
Ordered the gyro platter, the meat is delicious!! And the platter was $9, which is really affordable in America Standard (cause everything here is fraggin overpriced, even foodpanda is $8 and it doesn’t even taste anything like chinese food). And the portion is really nice, enough for a fill grown man’s lunch
The food here beats most competitors. Workers at this place are notably pleasant. The food pleased while service stood out. The mood here makes you want to stay. Having just become a local resident, this restaurant was a delightful find.
This food truck was such an awesome find on my walk home Friday. There was a bit of a line but it moves fast and the service was super nice. I ordered a grilled chicken thigh with rice and one with lamb and beef. Both super flavorful and tender and the spicy sauce they add provides a nice punch. I’ll definitely be back.
I really like Uncle Gussy's and so do 80% of the other corporate drones I subsist with (to any snooper: I like my job a lot I am joking). The food is flavorful and very filling and always fresh and the service is jovial. I do need to enable the standing desk after eating here because it is a bit heavy but always worth the trade-off.
This restaurant deserves the title of best without question. This was shared between me and someone else. You'll find every surface clean in this well-lit restaurant. We waited longer than expected for our food and noticed others waiting for drinks. Make this place a stop.
Uncle Gussy’s truck been serving the local white collar workers lunch for almost two decades as far as I know. They’ve been in business for so long bc their quality and long lines speaks for itself. During the typical lunch break the lines can stretched to the middle of the block (I’ve waited almost 30 mins once). But it seems like the upgraded system and truck ( new digital displays) has sped up the process. The quality of their ingredients is restaurant quality indeed. A typical Greek salad with protein or gyro should satisfy the normal folks. But if you’re feeling super hungry, go for the Hercules meal… but be warned.. you’ll def hit food coma status back at your desk!
looking for Greek & Mediterranean food options in Midtown East? Uncle Gussy's blue truck has you covered. the big food truck is parked at 51st and Park Avenue from 10 am to 3 pm --not 4 pm as listed on the truck's website and elsewhere...I learned this hard way by showing up between 3-4 pm 4X and not finding the truck! 😂 Guys, for the love of God fix your website and Yelp + Google listings! 🙌🏽 the truck is well-maintained and there's typically a line during most prime-time lunch hours. however if you go too late in the day, the truck will typically run out of certain menu items like fries or gyro meat as i found that to be the case, last week. the menu has something for everyone: comfort foods, relatively healthy eats, sandwiches, platters, salads, and more. there's also soft drinks on the menu. ordered a chicken pita at Uncle Gussy's most recently and it did not disappoint. you can taste the freshness and quality of the veggies and chicken on the first bite. the lettuce had crunch, tomato had that burst of tomato-ey citrus and the chicken had that firm juiciness which you expect from grill led meats. the tzatziki and hot sauce punched up the flavor with cool creaminess and a touch of spice. all in all, you could taste all those flavors separately and enjoy how they combined to give you that simple classic Greek comfort food satisfaction which is not easy to duplicate unless you go to an eatery that knows what they are doing. the staff is super friendly and kind. hospitality is a lost art but even at this food truck whether you're a regular or a newcomer, the folks here are jovial and upbeat. tip them.
Best quality food truck in New York City. I would eat here every day if I could. Chicken was perfectly marinated and grilled. Greek salad was fresh, and they put enough good quality feta and the better Greek olives in it. The tzatziki sauce was exactly the way it should be with a bit of garlic in it. Very affordable for New York City compared to the store fronts. The staff is great and can handle the long lines, unlike the store fronts.
I was surprised to already see a line at 11:30am on a Thursday but it moves very quickly. And having tried the chicken thighs on fries, I can understand why people wait. The chicken is flavourful and moist, the fries are seasoned and crispy on the outside. The lettuce helps to balance out the stronger flavours. You can even order ahead online for pickup to avoid the line!
Uncle Gussy is hands down one of the very few food carts I actually trust and go to, and it’s always worth it. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and made right every single time. You can tell they care about quality, not just pushing plates out. Portions are solid, service is fast, and everything tastes exactly how it should. If you’re debating whether to stop here—don’t. This cart is 100% worth it.
Best run food truck in NYC. Henry is a great man and treats every customer with sincere care.
Wow what a well oiled machine this place is. I went probably during the peak lunch period. I joined a line of about a dozen, and it only took about ten minutes to get to the front. Then my food was ready a minute after that. I ordered a pork souvlaki pita from a nice, friendly dude who was handling what seemed to be a very fast paced and stressful environment admirably. It was hella yummy. Nice hunks of tasty pork smushed into what you'd expect. Packaged well and not messy. I would have liked something more substantial for $7 though. I'm still hungry. Perhaps the more expensive items on the menu would be more filling though.
Greek food that's delicious, cheap and quick. I got the combo platter: which comes with chicken, gyro, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The portion was large and I was properly stuffed after I finished my platter. As far as food trucks go, this is probably my favorite one in recent memory. The only thing I dislike is that it's a one mile trip from my workplace, but Uncle Gussy's is worth the walk in my book.
Great food truck. The food is good (specifically the gyro platter) and plentiful for a reasonable price considering its Midtown location. The service is somewhat slow by food truck standards - I had to wait around 10 minutes for my order, but I will concede that it was a busy time for them during the 2PM lunch rush.
I was meeting my BF for lunch one weekday near his office, and he recommended Uncle Gussy's for Greek. I could always use some Greek food, and this place was also on my bookmarks list, so it was perfect. We arrived a little after 1 pm and waiting about 15 minutes (according to BF, there's always a line). We decided to go halfsies on the Hercules (yellow rice, Greek salad, pita bread, and fries) with chicken, and added a side of lamb. This was more than enough for two people, especially since they don't skimp on the meat. We were still full at dinnertime. I prefered the lamb over the chicken because the chicken has this charred flavor I don't really care for, which my BF loves, so if you like barbecued stuff, this one's for you. The more you eat the platter, the heavier it feels, and the saltier it tastes, but the Greek salad definitely helps cut that. It's worth feeling like a beached whale afterwards, but just make sure you have plenty of water available - you'll need it. Tip - cash only!
General note as many people have said there is definitely a line if you go during lunch time. I waited about 20 minutes when i went around 1pm. Once I got to the counter i ordered my Gyro platter with the works. It only took about a minute to get my food which was quite refreshing after waiting in line for 20 minutes. Once you open the container you see the beautifully plated food which a nice balance of colors to make it extremely eye appealing. The food itself was cooked very well. The pork souvlaki was extremely savory and flavorful. The rice was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The tzatziki sauce sauce complements the meat very well and also takes some of the heat away from the hot sauce. Which the hot sauce itself its very flavorful without packing too much kick. The onions were cooked very well but i wish there was a little more flavor there, same with the lettuce and tomato. Overall the meal was very satisfying and for under 10 dollars you get a huge amount of food. I will definitely consider going again but probably at an earlier or later time because it seems that there will always be long lines during lunch time.
I got the combo platter and it was fresh, hot and delicious. It’s pricey for a food truck but the food is excellent so it’s worthy. I’ve had the regular gyro and that was my least favorite because of the portion for your money. The Combo Platter with chicken and gyro meat accompanied with rice and salad. The Hercules takes it up a notch with Greek fries and Greek salad with feta and olives. Quick, efficient service!
food is good but the new website sucks. The text boxes are not responsive; and it take a long time to make the payment. Often it fails as the pickup time is not available. I strongly recommend to get rid of the ToGoTechnology LLC.
The food here is good but I was very annoyed to automatically be charged a tip. It’s possible the point of sale device showed the tip, but with the sun and position of the device there was no way to read it. They should default to $0 tip. So $18 for a chicken pita wrap was way too pricey.
Made the commute into Manhattan specifically for this food truck on a Friday at 2pm - but they were nowhere to be found and didn’t answer their phones, despite their website saying they were open. The food is always quite tasty though when they actually are open.
Looking at my original review from a while back, I find it hard to believe that I was complaining about how big the portion was. My recent experience is that in the last 3 months (ending March 2022), the prices went up 15%, which I can accept, but also the portion size went to almost half. Not only that, but the quality was just not there. For years I would find reasons to make my way to this food truck, but Mar 15, 2022 was the last time. It was good while it lasted (6 years to be precise)... There are other food choices around the area, so do yourself a favor and explore them. I know I will.
The raviolis were sour and unbeatable. Yesterday I purchased St Joseph pastries. They were stale and dry. Their quality control is below standards. I am very disappointed in Uncle Giuseppies.
Jul 2019 photo on Park Ave & 51st, was looking forward to try their talked about Gyro. Unfortunately for my taste was too greasy, the meat was a bit dry and lacked seasoning. Have tried better Gyro's. Tzatziki sauce was more like mayonnaise. Although GREAT packaging & presentation, but prefer tastier food. Dear owner, looking forward to a revisit in 2022. The review, photos and taste are 100% correct as platter was served on Jul 2019. I'm looking forward to tzatziki and not mayo this time.
I got a combo rice box and was excited to start chomping. After hearing the great reviews I was hoping for a nice lunch that would cost 14 bucks. After opening the box the portions were good but the food was cold. The meat has already started to dry. I would give this place a shot again but if I get cold food again I cant recommend anyone to come here.
Food is good but they gyp you on the tzaziki sauce. I ordered 4 total (2 with each dish and 1 extra for each dish) and they gave me only 1. Not fair really as I don't want to eat 2 dry dishes with no tzaziki. Will skip going forward if they don't want to give you what you pay for.
Suddenly this place is pricey for a food truck. Plus don’t pay in cash bc beggars are watching and waiting and hit you up as soon as you get change.
I ordered the combo yesterday with rice but got fries , not a big deal. But I got violently sick after eating it. Not looking to bash, maybe it was an aberration but I was wiped out the entire day. Please take better precautions when handling food . Recovery was hellish.
Placed an order on uber eats for chicken souvlaki on a stick and they sent flat pieces of chicken breast in a container. I could have made this at home. I’ve been a customer for a very long time and we always order lunch for the whole team at the office atleast 3 times a week. We all agreed at work we're not ordering from them anymore. Don’t do delivery from this place!
Well the place is full of hype but the reality is the way over priced for a food truck, chicken seasoning is ok but over cooked basically dry chicken lettuce i believe they don’t even wash their lettuce before serving. But the worst part is attitude gentleman at the cashier using two different credit card machine i was trying to tap in the one on the left (previously the guy infront of me paid that machine) anyway that’s not the problem, the problem is the guy at the register cursed me in his language probably he thought that i won’t understand, he said (μαλάκα) Malaka basically it means “idiot”. I guess he is right I’m idiot to spend money in his business I won’t be going there anymore and i won’t suggest anyone to eat their overpriced dry chinken
