Self-serve frozen yogurt with awesome toppings and a great atmosphere. Staff are fun and friendly, and the variety of yogurt flavors and toppings keep things interesting. Highly recommended!
Amazing service!! The employee of the month, Taalib, was super welcoming!! They have so much variety including oat milk flavors ice cream and sorbet. Pay this 16 handles on 8th a visit :)
Haven't actually been here yet, but they have a good selection of vegan ice cream and gluten free toppings, so it's one of the few places I can actually eat the kind of stuff like this that I used to love!
Choices across the variety always includes a sugar free option (that’s delicious). Wonderful friendly person at counter helped pack my 4 cups.
Just when you've had your fill of Pinkberry and Red Mango, 16 Handles comes along. It's great! There are so many flavors to choose from and it's self serve so you can have as little or as much as you want. Price is by weight but a cup usually ends up about $6 with toppings.
Super cool frozen yogurt. Italy, the person who helped us check the ice cream out was really helpful as well. Thanks!
Great experience! ! Good selection of flavors and speciality items.
Went to this establishment a couple of time and every time I got the staff are kind, the place is clean, and my overall experience is pleasant I would 10 out of 10 recommend you and your family come here
Love their sorbet options. Favorites are skinnygirl strawberry lemonade, superfruit acai, mango... Wish I can visit everyday lol. Less pricy than yogurtland and the trip to 16 handles isn't as far as it is to yogurtland, in Manhattan.
Such amazing customer service. Gisselle was super sweet and welcoming. Mango and Nutella have to be my favorite flavors so far.
Awesome place to buy yogurt. First time ever tasting. I brought a shake an when he mixed it up first time the cup cracked in many area around the cup. :( I took it back he gave me new cup w.e. yogurt I want and toppings no issue. Great service. Made me happy knowing I paid 12 bucks for something was able return it :) will be returning
My experiences here have always been pleasant. I live a few blocks up and walk here every now and again to indulge in my cravings for frozen yogurt with cubed mochi. It's never too crowded and the staff are all very nice. I've never had any issues, and the staff are eager to answer questions and keep you up to date with new flavors and promotions (if you ask first, that is). Due to never having a negative experience here I find it a must to give 5 stars (I'd give 4.5 due to not ALWAYS having mochi available but that's just me- and there's no 4.5 option. Haha!)
Freddy and Juan are very amazing and helpful, even gave me some recommendations to which flavor to pick. They were very very great employees. Super clean freaks and they take care of the store very well, super clean and i really enjoyed being there. They offered a very good hot cocoa and i bought two of them and i really enjoyed it.
this fro-yo place is the closest to my apartment. I enjoy coming here and I like their toppings including the cookie dough and the whipped cream. they also have a good variety of flavors of both vegan and non vegan options.
Soooo tasty fro yo with extremely amazing staff. My mother loves frozen yogurt and she was trying some of them at 16 handles, when she finally picked her flavor and went to pay for it, the staff gave it to her as gift from the house. We were touched by this lovely gesture. We are always going to have fro yo at 16 handles.
With so many frozen yogurt places popping up all around the city, it can be hard for any single one to stand out. 16 Handles, however, has no problem setting itself apart. As its name suggests, there are 16 different froyo flavors, ranging from the classic vanilla and chocolate to the likes of NY cheesecake (which is quite good). There are a plentiful amount of toppings as one would expect, and the atmosphere is also enjoyable and fun.
16 Handles is fro-yo to make a special trip for, and this outlet of the chain is my favorite. 16 Handles seems to have a wider variety of flavors than most spots, and they really seem to execute their flavors better than other places. For example, salted caramel is all the rage right now, and lots of places have it. But the SC at 16 Handles is just so much better than the others. Cookie dough and birthday cake are also winners. So combine the really well-done flavors with self-service yogurt and toppings, all in a great spot in Chelsea, and you have fro-yo that's better than anywhere else.
The froyo is amazing!! It's self service until you buy the froyo. The atmosphere is a bit busy for me but in a calming way.
Many good choices of yogurt flavors and toppings. Friendly customer service and they allow you to test a few flavors before buying. Can be a bit pricey but a fun thing to do with friends or family.
We love all the 16 Handles flavors and the variety of toppings, nuts, syrups. Stir it up for a tasty ice cream dessert.
They have vegan flavors! Especially for people like me who wants to enjoy soft serve but can't have dairy, wow! Glad to see they have that as options now. Topping bar has a good variety with some seating available
Great experience! Store was well stocked with a variety of different flavors from a previous 16 Handles. All the toppings were available; fruit, chocolate stuff, etc. The store was clean and we ate in the store. Every member of the staff was very helpful and everyone was doing something; cleaning, restocking toppings and ice cream/yogurt and working the register. Great location!
superior frozen yogurt shop for non-dairy options and amazing toppings.
Uri, Italy and kadija are the absolute best. They made our night so fun and went above beyond helping me pack to go yogurt. Thank you all so much for the help and being the best!! Saturday June 1st - 9:50pm
Okay Fro YO! Perfect snack for a stroll through chelsea! Frozen yogurt is a great dessert substitution instead of heavy ice cream or gelato. Personally I love their mint chocolate chip and peanut butter fro yo with car-rob chips.
Stopped by with my toddlers to try 16 handles for the first time. And I can’t complain. We were kindly helped by Ashley and Mia and they were knowledgeable and such a great vibe. They let us sample some and my kids extremely loved the topping options. They have many froyo options but we stuck to tart. Texture and everything was amazing. Store in general was tidy and clean. Will definitely be returning to this spot! Thank you girls
Great froyo with an extensive topping selection. The new app makes payment a breeze. The items can get pricy though if you aren't careful adding toppings.
Good basic yogurt shop. Pick your cup size, squirt different flavored goops into it, throw on too many toppings, weigh, pay and eat. Yogurts ain't bad, watch out for occasional runny ones. Brain freeze aficionados take note, very cold yogurt equals pain.
I was just there a couple of hours ago. I tried the euro tart yogurt, and taste somewhat like pinkberry 's yogurt, but overall was good, and might come back at some point. This is what I liked about 16 handles more than pinkberry, you can self yourself the yogurt of your choice, and even give free sample cups to try them before you buy it. I also like the fresh cut fruit,of course my favorite is strawberry. I still say pinkberry's is slightly better, but it's very good though.
A great frozen yogurt spot with a lot of options. My one complaint is the extremely limited seating. Could do with actual booths or table style seating instead of a shared wall length couch style.
A dispenser broke when I tried to get some ice cream. The employees there could not get it to stop lolol. It was entertaining watching the ice cream pour out uncontrollably while they freaked out 🤣🤣 But for real- check them out, it’s pretty tasty.
this is a chain of soft serve ice cream- lower in calories- I had the mexican chocolate for the first time and loved it. there are some seats to ear in and some outside weather permitting- not sure if it is frozen yogurt or ice cream- think its frozen yogurt
Me my wife & daughter went after dinner. Always have fun testing/tasting all the flavas. When you finally settled on 1..or 2...then it's more fun picking your toppings...
As someone who is lactose intolerant, I don't often get to enjoy frozen creamy desserts. But they had both vegan and nondairy options, so I gave it a try. All in all, not bad. The sorbet was an okay sorbet, enjoyable enough. What I was really excited for was the cashew milk chocolate fro-yo. The flavor was pretty good, and cold creamy like fro-yo ought to be. Unfortunately, it did have a texture, almost a little gritty. But, like I said, the flavor wad still good enough and it hit the spot. I will add, the highlight are the chocolates and other acoutromounts that you get to use to accessorize your dessert... just remember that you pay by weight, so don't go too crazy!
One of the best frozen yogurt places in the city. I visit the upper west side location the most, but there are many many more throughout the city. I think this place is the best because the yogurt is a superior quality. I’m not sure what they put in it but the flavors always taste so good. My personal favorites are the birthday cake and the euro tart. I love all the toppings they have too. They have a good mix of fruit and candy. It’s a pay per ounce model so its really great for those days that you want dessert but not that much
Really good ice cream and frozen yogurt with a great choice of toppings. The place was really clean and the staff very welcoming. I was slightly disappointed at the low amount of flavor options when I went, it seemed like 2 machines weren’t working and the flavors there were very standard, but nothing super extraordinary.
This place is family-friendly and usually offers an array of delicious low-fat flavors. Although I am aware that frozen dessert is not "health food", it's still a better alternative (just choose your toppings wisely). Green Tea, Key Lime, Orange Popsicle, and Nutella are among my favorite flavors (yet seem rarely available).
Good variety of fairly unique frozen yogurt flavors. Most of the flavors are non-fruit flavors, but include fun stuff like breakfast cereal. Toppings are the usual help-yourself style of fro-yo places with a good mix of candy and fruit.
Frozen yogurt was delicious, and ask the cashier for sampling cups to settle on a flavor. Since I prefer less processed toppings, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have fresh mango toppings or too many other fruit toppings. Otherwise, their topping selection was pretty extensive.
Certainly delicious. $35 for 3 bowls of essentially soft serve ice cream with some toppings....well, more expensive than it should be. The two young workers seemed utterly bored and on phones as we approached the checkout. After weighing the 3 bowls that we set on the scale, the tablet gets spun to ask if we want to tip 15%, 20%...etc. The answer is simply..No. No service was provided to warrant receiving a tip. Stop asking for tips Retail America.....for tips at self service food stations. Growing Old, unwarranted....unjustified.
Good place! Love the fro yo not gonna lie. The cookie dough is absolutely amazing!! The store is a bit run down and needs to be fixed. And there is no freaking restroom. Gotta put one in case customers need.
Good variety of flavors (ice cream, froyo, sorbet, and oatmilk froyo), and love that all the nutrition information is displayed for each flavor. Good choice of toppings (brownies, cookies, fruit, etc.). The workers were also polite and kept the toppings counters clean every second they had.
This used to be a go to for a sweet treat at night. It's feeling a little rundown now, though. The AC was clearly not working the day we were there.
The 16 Handles have 16 lovely flavors that change and have occasional seasonal flavors. It is charged by weight and you can choose how much you want to get of each flavor and toppings. The seating area is very nice and great for photo taking.
There's was 2 young gentlemen, the food station was dirty and their were just on there on there phone.
Best Froyo I've found. They are often out of mochi topping and rarely have premade froyo sandwiches available despite advertising them. On occasion have had to deal with someone loitering inside the store and causing issues.
Decent frozen yogurt place. Around 10 flavors total, but only 2 or 3 fruit flavors. The fruit toppings are not very fresh.
I’ve been craving plain vanilla frozen yogurt with tiny M&Ms for DAYS!! We decided it was time to give in but I ended up extremely disappointed.. Is it just me or does anyone else think that spending $27 at 16 Handles isn't all that sweet a deal? It’s actually crazy! 🤯
At least 3 machines weren't even working. The mint chocolate chip tasted fermented or a strong extract flavor. I had to scrape it into the trash it was so bad. There weren't any desserts like described in the pics of this place. Just frozen yogurt machines (one had a broken handle) and the toppings. Employees were friendly. But the machines did not look clean either.
It's kept nice and clean but prices are completely out of hand. 15+ bucks for a not-full medium cup??? The 'tip me' option on the keypad is obnoxious and I'm pretty sure the girl keyed something because it flashed, went away, and when I asked for my receipt I got someone else's reprinted. You can hit up a fancy ice cream shop for way less.
Convenient location to get something cool on a hot day. I feel the product here is not very creamy or tasty, it's mostly just cold. What I can say is they have a lot of flavors, they had 4 vegan ice cream options, and they have a lot of interesting toppings. But the sundae lacks any creaminess or flavor, and the atmosphere of this outlet is basic. Friendly staff.
Pretty tasty but way too expensive for Frozen Yogurt.
GREAT4KiDS,.....but as an adult, who actually loves candy and has a sweet tooth, i astonishingly find everything to be... ..overly sweet, (also) high priced, with rarely any really, "to-die-for" flavors. if you like sundaes so much, stock ur food pantry w/treats & keep at least 2 tubs in ur freezer...it'll be cheaper and tastier on a hot summer day no1 can be refreshed by so much sweetness in winter, 2cold. in any season tho, My KiD Loves this place! but he's a kid and doesnt have good tastes, so 4get him. i never finish my cup on the first day, it sits in my freezer while other ice cream gets eaten, but its... ...GREAT4KiDS!!!
Too pricey. Too crowded. They have only big cups to put the Frozen yogurt. You end up paying at least $10.00 for a cup. Should I call it rip-off?
Machines never cool frozen yogurt adequately, so it is drippy and grainy. Everything in the store is unclean (benches have dry froyo on them and are ripped up; CC screen covered with fingerprints; chairs smeared by reused rags; floor sticky; front windows have bird droppings, etc)--except two trays that a hard working employee has cleaned. The other employee is too busy on her phone to notice customer at the register. It's a heatwave and this place barely has AC. Didn't used to be this way here.
It smelled awful when I walked in, especially near the self serve section. The froyo was ok, it didn’t taste great or creamy, it tasted odd. The cashier wasn’t very welcoming and had an uninterested attitude. All of that was not worth the $14 I paid, I should’ve went to Pinkberry
Such terrible customer service. I came in at 12 with my boyfriend because we really wanted to get some fro-yo before we clocked in for work at 1 pm, and the doors were closed. If a place says they open at 12:00 pm exactly, why are you opening a couple minutes later. I decided to just not care about that until it was finally time to get some frozen yogurt. Some of the yogurt came out as liquid and was not frozen at all. I don’t know how 16 handles works as opening in this location, but other places do not provide such poor quality. Lastly, when it was time to pay, the only place to stand and wait to pay had a spill on the floor that no one even warned me about. Three workers stood next to us and not one of them were urgent enough to attend us. We just wanted to pay and leave as quickly as possible. I stared at one of the workers to hint that I wanted to pay, and he just walked away. Seriously, what kind of service was that? If you don’t care about your job please do all a favor and just leave.
I came here after a long hiatus from froyo. Not something I would ever crave again. The froyo is not creamy, it was icy and I got brain freeze from a small serving of it pretty quickly. Not sure about cleanliness of the place, there’s no telling what’s happening behind those soft serve machines.
Was disappointed. Not enough frozen yogurt choices. I thought 16 Handles was about Froyo, not ice cream and sorbet. Anyway, I was not impressed, sorry. The froyo I did have was not creamy enough… too wet and icy. And the sorbet was more like something out of a slushy machine at 7-11… too sweet and artificial tasting. The toppings were good and the place is nice. But too expensive for the quality…
The yogurt quality and toppings are fine however the place was a filthy mess in spite of two employees, one standing around doing absolutely nothing and the other on her cell phone while she checked me out. The handles of the yogurt dispensers were sticky, a number of the flavors were clearly empty, none of the trays catching overrun were clean, the topping station was in utter shambles and the floors were sticky. I will do the owner of the shop a favor by not posting pictures of the state of how badly it was maintained in this visit.
Disgusting. Rude. Bad. Those are the only words I can think of regarding this location. The staff is AWFUL, they do not even acknowledge you. The place is FILTHY at all times of the day. Truly a disappointment. My last visit I walked in a walked right out because I did not want to risk my health!!
I have to agree with other reviewers: this place is on the messier side, dirty, unwelcoming, and the employees could not be bothered by customers. The froyo is pretty average, flavours are good but the texture is so-so. No reason to go there when you can walk a couple of blocks and find a good gelato.
Ok so This is the worst 16 handles i ever been to, the staff gives you weird looks as you ask for free samples, they roll their eyes at you and some of them look like teens who don't want to be there. They don't welcome you as you walk in they just sit there till you same something, Such a shame that they don't treat you with respect at all.
I usually like 16 handles but I don’t like when they decide to lie about their closing time post it 11 o’clock but they close it at 10. What a shame.
It was superrr hot and smelled awful in there . There was no AC and lots of the machines were not working. The frozen yogurt did not taste that great. I am super disappointed
Totally gross. The place is filthy and needs to be cleaned; the toppings bar looked like 4 year olds ran through it, dribbling and drooling along the way. Won't go back. This place needs some serious attention and TLC. Buy a pint of Ben and Jerry's at the grocery and call it a day.
Over priced, doesn’t taste good, dirty store, and you don’t get a lot of ice cream. I’d recommend going to the upper East or upper west side for good ice cream. I personally like Anita Gelato! It’s the opposite of all the things I described about handels
The most disgusting “frozen sludge” I have ever had. The machines were leaking, the floor was soaking and I feel unwell since eating there.
I love 16 handles BUT the consistency and flavor were horrible here. Everything was melting and the taste was not even close to what I’ve had in other locations . It was just a bad experience in general.
constantly see the same staff everyday, store is always dirty. I went and tried a couple flavors and they tasted and looked old and so did some of the fruits from The topping bar. Very overpriced highly wouldn’t recommend taking your kids here unfortunately
The only thing this place has in common with ice cream is "ice". The WORST soft ice cream ever..watery and not a drop of cream. ALL flavors are watery and with cheap ingredients. DO NOT enter expecting real ice cream....another tourist scam joint.
Staff is super unfriendly. Always are “out” of flavors and toppings. Not a good location. Avoid
This was by far the WORST Froyo I’ve ever had at 16 Handles, however I will say the customer service was good. My purchase was 2 smaller cups to go with toppings & it was $32.46. Is there Vodka in froyo now? My base flavor was Birthday cake and no a stripper did not pop out. What did pop out was a chalky, runny and totally non-creamy yogurt. I felt like a kid who was given a birthday cake made of vegetables, it was awful. The second base I got from my girlfriend was Dutch chocolate, was less chalky a little creamier, but not great by any means. In closing, after the tipping the staff three dollars because they were very helpful, I went home with a $36 bill for yogurt that should’ve been in the trash can. No Bueno!
Went in yesterday and the AC Seemed to be broken in this establishment. Bunch of young employees were there suffering in the heat of the store. The froyo from the machines were melting already due to the heat semi watery barely in a frozen state. Management needs to make environment better for employee and customers.
Decent ice cream; staff openly disregards any masking requirements. We have stopped by 3-4 times over the last several months and all staff is routinely completely unmasked. Notable as many other establishments in NY require their employees to follow masking protocols.
Was told by the staff yesterday at a little after 7pm that "this location doesnt sell smoothies." The menu offered smoothies and the website says that this location sells smoothies too.
i get there at around 11pm right before it closes cause me and my friends wanted some ice cream. we get the mango ice cream and it tastes really weird i tell the lady at the register or the manager dont really know. i tell her hey look i think the mangos expired it tasted pretty weird i even told my friends to try it. she says oh no its not ezpired it has dates on it and i tell her like im not even lying. eventually she tells me to get ankther ice cream but has an attitude with me saying oh no ones ever said this before this whole day. well yeah maybe cause you have an attitude. dont really review on anything but this really got me annoyed. terrible service im not even asking for like anything crazy, dont know why she had an attitude over some ice cream (thats not even hers!) how would she know if its spoiled ir not? whatever man just fix that employees attitude
What a shame it was so different 3 years ago! Without a doubt it was the best yogurt ice cream in New York. The cleanliness, the kindness, frozen yogurt always tasted fresh customers coming in and out leaving with a smile. The ambiance was super! It was always well ventilated and air conditioned the store was clean inside and outside Everything changed total neglect dirty yogurt tasted horrible even got sick from it too embarrassed to invite anyone to eat there the inside is just as dirty as the outside the outside even smells like urine chairs ripped and stained service poor. I hope the owner reads these remarks we will come back to 16 handles if it returns like it used to be for now we will keep away from it
A friend of mine was followed into the store by someone who was very intoxicated. He was touching her aggressively and then he broke a lamp in the store. The person working named Mia was very rude and not understanding of the situation. We managed to get him to leave but Mia then refused us service because we “entered the store together.” While we were standing outside the store trying to figure out how plans (the man was gone), Mia came outside to let us know she would call the cops if we didn’t move from outside the store. Very unprofessional especially when my friend was possibly in danger. 16 handles should do a better job of training their staff. Won’t be returning.
Updated review: ordered from the app tonight and zero toppings were delivered. Called store - no one answers (it sounds like they pick up and hang up actually) Got an error message when I tried to contact customer support in their app. Flavors are often out and the menus app and seamless are never updated. Mess up on toppings a lot in delivery.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would, but it’s not an option. There were 6 workers there behind the counter all on their phones, except one, he was on his phone & enjoying a snack he took from the topping bar. I tried to order a smoothie & the employee said we don’t do those here, as I’m looking at the “fruit smoothies menu” of about 6-8 smoothies options. When I looked confused all she did was laugh and repeat we don’t do smoothies here. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone/ terrible customer service.
Disaster. And they're scamming here. Stopped in after a show across the street, my daughter was feeling nostalgic about going to 16 Handles when she was younger. I always thought it was a bit grimy, but this was the worst by far. Sticky floors, dirty surfaces and machines, and the toppings area was a disgusting mess. Not one staff member was cleaning anything. WORST of all, my kid got one small swirl of (bad) yogurt with no toppings and it came to $5.25. Fine, of course stupidly expensive but whatever. I tapped, declined a receipt and was not shown a signature screen. Then when I left the shop, my charge came through as $7.25. What's that about? The cashier tipped herself 2 dollars, that's what. I went back and stood there for 20 minutes waiting for a refund but the chaos of the shop made it clear it wan't gonna happen. The other guy behind the counter admitted it had happened but shrugged about trying to fix it. This place is a joke. And it's foul. AVOID.
Went in at 1030 today and was told only Doordash orders today because the employee wants to hurry and go home . I know this because I've came same time. same day in the past and never had an issue . Also there was an older gentleman inside making his cup and the girl seemed so bothered . Like your not the owner , you know what u signed up for lol . Horrible work ethic
