Staff are so friendly qnd helpful. Good is incredible! Would happily eat here again!
Ideal neighborhood bar. Warm social vibe, hospitable bartenders, nice customers, good selection, fair prices, amazing location. There's a Tom, a Mia, a Charlotte, and two Joans, who are all excellent bartenders and hosts.
Absolutely need this place in my life. Cannot physically function on weekends without it. Like water. New bar stools however are NOT good IMO. This is just one man's opinion but whatever happened to the old delectable bar stools? The ones we grew up on? Bring em back.
Me and my wife went here when we were on holiday in New York and had the best time. Great stand up and a genuine feel to the whole place. Of the beat in the village nice and quiet, really made our stay in NY more special. The hosts are awesome 👏
I really like this place. It isn't too crowded and the drinks are reasonably priced. There was a really terrible DJ there when I went this past winter,, though. Watching her DJ was like watching a girl in her room playing whatever song she felt like hearing with no real thought out sequence and her collection only spanned the 90s and early 00s. It was rough but we made the best of it before we left for another venue.
I just so happen to come here often. The bartenders are the best. I have an odd schedule where I end up at the bar Sundays. Tuesday, Wednesdays, etc. Always a laid back crowd and great music whether vinyl downstairs or a laidback dj upstairs. Its the bartenders that do the trick though always nice ladies or friendly gentleman. When friends visit from out of town I always make sure we stop by for as much as they can handle. Oh yeah, best happy hour that's how I started coming in the 1st place. 2 for 1 everyday until 9 I believe If you see me there, you owe me a beer.
I just stopped in here for the first time in ages. I went here somewhat regularly between 2004 & 2008, but hadn't really stepped in since. Not too much has changed. You can't access the 2nd floor from inside anymore, and there is a basement bar called Berlin Under A now. The bartender was easy going & friendly. The bar wasn't too crowded (which I appreciate) and the "crowd" was a friendly, eclectic mix. All on all I would definitely recommend this bar.
I bookmarked this place weeks ago and finally got a chance to check out the place myself. Sadly, I came AFTER Happy Hour but you know I'm coming back here on another day to take advantage of their cheap beers. You already know. I'm not sure if they check IDs all the time but for weekends they do have a bouncer that does just that. First floor is much more chillax almost like a dive-y speakeasy if you can even call it that. Second floor is the party floor where they be spinning those classic Hip-Hop beats and ones that only your momma would know. I didn't really care for the tunes to be honest but the vibe was good. It is also an excellent spot to grab a drink and people watch mostly on the second floor but the windows on the first floor is wide and clear enough to do people watching as well. Service - Drinks were being pumped out like a club by the upstairs bartender so you know you getting your drink promptly. It was more packed at the bar upstairs versus downstairs or any other area of this 2 floor space for that matter. For a Saturday night it was just the right amount of people and I easily found a seat and just watched sexy people walk by. For some reason that ignited my creative side and I pretty much starting memo-ing down stories to write later. Good stuff. Clientele - were very mixed. I don't just mean racially, but also type. You can find anyone from single mom to Wall Street dirt bag to sexy hipster. If the first floor cracks up to be a good time as well then this might very well be a new regular rotation for me.
Some friends took me to the karaoke night that the bar hold on Monday evenings. It was really fun! I would recommend this to anyone who loves to sing. They have a huge selections of songs! The karaoke was upstairs, so whoever is downstairs don't have to deal with all the bad singing. The bear was a bit pricey, and they don't a huge selection upstairs. I don't know about the bar downstairs.
I truly did love this place. It’s one of my favorites in the village. But as of last weekend I am hesitant to return. The CAN of beer I was served had shards of glass in it. I thought it was chunks of ice at first. But then I was coughing up tiny pieces of glass.. and saw that the rim of my beer had glass all over it! It was painful so i had to return home. Please, check your beers when you serve them. Or clean them off. Bartender was nice about it. I just hope management knows and that no one else had to deal with this.
This is for the bar upstairs and not downstairs. I have not tried the downstairs yet so cannot comment. Sorry 2A but your not a bar I will be picking again. Sure you have a nice outdoor space. Sure you have a nice bar. But your service was terrible, ordering drinks was a slow and painful drag that never really worked out. Some drinks where missed on multiple occasions, before we even finished our drinks they where removed from us during a ninja sneak attack. The only way to reliable get anything was to go inside and order but even then mostly we where told the waiter would be out, putting us back to the beginning problem. Hopefully if I do end up here again this problem will be fixed but with all the competition in the area it's hard to justify trying again.
Very rude bartender. Was lectured about “using my imagination” when I asked for a drinks menu (there was none), then when my friend went to order cocktails she was lectured about what “type of bar” this is (apparently a neighbourhood bar, not a cocktail bar). Not having a menu or serving cocktails is fine, but the condescending tone was very unnecessary, and made the bar feel very hostile. Otherwise a nice ambiance and alright drinks. A real shame.
Was there this past weekend and a guy pulled out a knife on someone. The bouncer/staff did not even remove the dangerous man or call the police. Beware of their dangerous clientele
I bought a frozen margarita, didn’t even take a sip, set it down on the wobbly table and the whole thing fell over… went back to the bar and the bartender wouldn’t replace it… ?? If it was half empty or a complicated cocktail or something, fine. But a prebatched frozen drink that I ordered 3 mins prior?! Not cool. And I’m a bartender…
I went to enjoy the weather on their outdoor seating and out of no where the white tall male bartender is yelling extremely loud to a patron inside. It didn’t seem like the patron was yelling back or being aggressive, more like confused (he was a black patron). And the barber grabbed the barstool and was about to throw it to him. Not sure what the issue was but feel outside it was very scary. Not friendly vibe in that bar at all.
As someone who frequents local and upscale bars, this was the worst bartender experience I've ever had. The woman (was wearing a white hat on 10/30) basically scolded me for ordering multiple drinks and asking what selection of cider was available... she then proceeded to mock me. I simply said nothing, paid, didn't tip and left. Shocking to be treated that way for no reason. She has no place in the service industry.
Of I could give 0 stars I would. Worst service I have ever received. Ordered 2 beers, I provided the male bartender the exact cash. I left my tip on the table. When I received the beer and started to walk away the bartender asked where his tip was....... I stared at him, not only was the tip on the table he had the audacity to ask for a tip. I did not need to provide a tip for 3 seconds it took you to open a beer. I hope the bartender reads this.
