Went to Cantina Rooftop yesterday and absolutely loved it! The food is super delicious, especially the fajitas, tacos, and desserts, and the vibes are so festive. Loved the beautiful Valentine’s decorations too. Big thanks to our lovely server Tika for taking care of everything. Definitely coming back next time I’m in the area :)
I came here last February. The staff, vibes, and food were AMAZING. If you visit NYC you should definitely make a stop here!
Talk about excellence!!! Atmosphere was so hip, live dj was playing great music. The food was phenomenal. Every bite had flavor. Portion sizes were pretty large. Definitely a must if you're in the area!!
Very good place next to all the major car vendors. I was a little surprised there was no steak on the menu, but do not be alarmed, as they are mexican and they list food a different way. Fajitas with steak please anytime. DJ every night and early. Vhristmas decorations are a huge plus. Summer times they open the roof which usually has umbrellas. Very attentive staff and the place gets crowded...
AMAZING!!!!!? You will not regret going here! Me & my friends were at a party nearby, but it was pretty dead, so we decided to go here instead! It was everything that we wanted! Good food, good drinks, and people dancing and having a good time!!! We went to celebrate my friend's birthday and had such a great time!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Trip to Mexico on a Rooftop! (We Didn't Want to Leave!) Cantina Rooftop is an absolute must-visit! The experience starts before you even get through the door—I could hear the DJ's bass thumping while waiting for the elevator, which set the tone for the entire night. The vibe is pure vacation: energetic, colorful, and just plain fun. Honestly, we felt like we'd stepped off a plane and landed in a lively spot in Mexico! The atmosphere is so infectious, thanks in large part to the amazing DJ keeping the energy high. We genuinely did not want to leave. But let's talk about the food. Every single thing we tried was delicious! We started with the nachos, which were perfectly loaded and craveable, and the tostadas were fresh, crunchy, and spot-on. The true star of the show, however, were the Birria tacos. Seriously, do not skip these! The meat was tender, rich, and perfect for dipping.Cantina Rooftop has nailed the trifecta: fantastic food, great drinks, and an unbeatable, party-like atmosphere. It’s the perfect place for a celebration, a date night, or just when you need a little escape. Go! You won't regret it.
First time here at cantina rooftop was exceptional! Met with my great friend to catch up and it was a perfect setting- weather, music and excellent hospitable service! Waiter was welcoming and besieged we enjoyed our food and drinks. Michael worked the room and greeted diners with smiles and great energy. We enjoyed the shark, cow and dinosaur who danced for the diners. Definitely worth visiting after work, for birthday celebrations of just to visit! Espectácular y excepcionalmente bueno! Gracias!!!
I can't say to no Mexican food and while I was in NYC, I knew I had to have some! We bumped into this great rooftop place. It has a funky feeling to it while at the same time making you feel like you are in restaurant in Mexico City. We had some great margaritas and order the asada nachos and the streak and eggs. The nacho were so delicious and the meat portions were very generous! What I liked the most was the beef and egg fajitas! I had never had such plate in a Mexican restaurant. Normally, when I had fajitas it comes with some queso fresco on top. Well, this place took the cheese on a completely different level. The fajitas con arrachera (grilled skirt steak) & huevos come on a bed of melted cheese (I think it was Mozzarella or Oaxaca)! I asked for the steak medium and it came that way. The stuff were so attentive and took good care of us! The whole place was such a great experience. If you are in NYC, you won't regret coming to this place! I can't wait to go back!
Great vibe, amazing food. Service was less than stellar. Took a few requests to get served and after asking for our bill 5 times, we just went up to the front and paid. Maybe just a bad night. Update: Went back for a second time and it was amazing. Service was spot on. Manager was great and stopped to chat. Gave us recommendations to another bar. Gotta love loud music though. Loved the Guac. Enchiladas were amazing. We got cocktails in the skulls and got to take the skulls home!
Had such a fun time at Cantina Rooftop! The view is amazing, especially around sunset—definitely a great spot to chill with friends or grab drinks after work. The food was really solid (loved the tacos and guac), and the drinks were strong and tasty. The music and atmosphere made it feel like a mini party without being over the top. Staff was super friendly and on point, which made the whole night even better. Would totally go back—perfect spot for good food, good vibes, and rooftop views.
The vibe was everything. Felt welcome from moment one stepped off elevator. Manager was attentive, birthday celebrations all around were so cute.my server was the besttttttttttt adalberto was always with us and kept checking in us. Filling our drinks (unlimited within 90 mins) Thank you sweetie. You’re the best !!!!
First time here…celebrating anniversary. We had a great sever name Carlos. He recommended the drink and appetizer 🤍 Got some souvenirs to take home! Everything was delicious. Wished they played more Mexican music.
Food was very good! Tip was already included on bill. 2 margaritas, 2 apps plus tip was $100. Guacamole cantina style was delicious!
I have been here twice in the summer time and have to say that this place comes off more as a party restaurant than “fine dining”. Yes the chef is famous and has been featured on many cool cooking shows and awards, but this food and place feels quite commercial then authentic mexican. The pros of this place is the cool decor, clean bathrooms, frequent and fast service, and a large menu with specials for brunch and taco Tuesday as well. You will also appreciate the nice umbrellas and view of the city where you see the W hotel. The cons are that it feels freakin hot on the outdoor rooftop, and the food felt rather bland. I do appreciate the chips and salsa basket but the freshly made guac could use more salt and tajin/lime seasoning. Then the pork belly soft tacos I ordered were also missing something, I couldn’t put my finger on it. Perhaps the pork felt dry to me. I would of expected some mexican hot sauces or condiments to automatically be on the table but that wasn’t offered . The margaritas here are not cheap but strong and the spicy margs have the perfect amount of jalapeno in it. I also appreciate their michelada shot menu and mexican beer selection is good too, cant go wrong with their modelos. This place frequently had birthdays being celebrated with funny lap dances and masked employees, totally reminded me of nacho libre. The dj was also playing music during dinner making it hard to talk but it does turn into a club at night so they do a decent job at keeping the crowd hyped throughout the evening and making birthdays feel special (their shot glasses are very flashy with a sparkler). You will also notice their party halp next door does interesting events like mariachi shows and bull riding shows. That’s still not in their main restaurant though. In general the portions are good but the place is pricey since they automatically add 18 percent tip and charge a credit card fee. I know the waitress was so nice and knew the menu and specials well but for a party of two i was surprised. I am more tempted to come back here to try dining specials to see difference in price. We spent at least $150 for two people and didnt order much.
My friend and I went to the rooftop for the Taco Tuesday deal. The staff are welcoming and checks up on you regularly throughout. The drinks were strong but still good. There were also photographers taking photos (with consent) and offering a frame with it too ($$). We were excited to eat the tacos and see the city views, but it turned out we couldn’t see the views. The tacos were hit or miss and it did take longer than normal to get them.
Cantina Rooftop really delivers when it comes to atmosphere. The vibes are truly immaculate; great music, lively crowd, & overall fun energy that makes it a perfect spot for drinks and socializing. The food was alright…enjoyable, but not something I’d come specifically for. That said, it works well with the ambiance. What really elevated the experience, was the manager/DJ. He truly was the life of the party. Super welcoming, high energy, and clearly set the tone for the entire space. If you’re looking for a place with a great scene, solid drinks, and an unforgettable vibe (especially thanks to the staff), this is definitely worth checking out.
I went here for brunch on a Saturday. They have the $38 brunch special where you get a full bottle of mimosa with an entree of your choice from a limited menu. Please note it’s only one bottle included- it is not bottomless. None the less, it’s a pretty big bottle. I ordered the steak fajita and asked for the steak to be medium well. The steak came out really rubbery and I couldn’t eat it. I asked the manager to exchange for something else, and his response was that I should have ordered it medium rare instead. I have always ordered my steak medium well and never had this issue. I also saw a lot of other reviews where they complained about their steak entrees as well. He ended up changing it for chicken tacos, and the tacos were delicious. My friend ordered the carnitas egg Benedict and he enjoyed it a lot. Other than that small incident, the ambiance is really nice, the place is decorated nicely, and the staff is nice. This is a rooftop in the summer, but it is fully covered during the winter months and it is warm. The location is not ideal as it is far from trains, and if you drive- it’s hard to find parking. You will most likely have to park at a meter- and that’s $13.50 for two hours. I may go back during the summer time to enjoy the open rooftop, but will definitely not be ordering steak.
Went here because of an IG post raving about the all you can eat taco Tuesday for $25.. in the ad there were ten different tacos available to choose from. Got here only to find out that the offerings whittled down to four! Steak, chicken, cheese and pork of which as a mostly plant based person I eat none of those. My husband had the chicken and steak but we had to speak to the kind manager Mike who was happy to accommodate me after we brought the issue to his attention. I was able to get the fish and impossible tacos, but it wasn't all I could eat unfortunately. The fish was spicy but good. The impossible tasted like it was a sweet corn taco. I don't recommend it. The chicken and steak were good according to my husband but in all honesty, unless you're looking to explore more of the menu and drink the alcoholic drinks (we didn't) and are in a party vibe don't rush to get here, if at all. We've had better from the neighborhood spot.
Went for dinner through reservation; would definitely recommend getting reservation because it's super easy to reserve a spot online. Atmosphere is big. Music is super loud and its hard to hear your own voice. It was nearly impossible to chat while eating, and we weren't even placed close to the DJ. The rooftop doesn't have a good view. It's not really my vibe, but maybe its up to personal preference. Service was ok. Even though it was super busy, servers were attentive and checked in occasionally! There was an automatic 20% gratuity charge. Food was also ok. Went during Taco Tuesday for the $25 AYCE tacos deal, but was a little disappointed because they took a bunch of tacos off the menu (there was only pork/beef/chicken/cheese). Cheese was the best by far; sweet and savory, though I wish the cheese was more melty. Pork was also good. Beef and chicken were bland and not really worth it. Wish they had cheese or sauce or something on them. For the AYCE deal, its not bad, but I wouldn't pay regular prices for these tacos. Overall, it isn't really worth going here; there are better tacos and better music elsewhere.
Atmosphere was beautiful and it was what was expected. However, I want to hear because we wanted some kind of a top experience and from the reviews it was a great location but I told them from when I made my reservations that it was my husband's birthday. I told the waiter, I told two other people that were walking by and asked if we were okay, I even told the DJ and literally nobody was singing happy birthday to him. And it was even more upsetting that our food was not so great. After explaining to my husband that I told four people that it was his birthday and nobody did nothing. And it was at that time that the waiter then bring over people to sing Happy Birthday but at that point we were over it.
Went to Cantina Rooftop for Taco Tuesday, and honestly, it was disappointing. We had a reservation for 3 at 8:30 PM but weren’t seated until close to 9 PM. What’s the point of having a reservation system if you’re going to make guests wait 15-30 minutes after their scheduled time? I had to go up and ask twice why we hadn’t been seated, especially when I saw people who arrived after us getting tables. Eventually, the manager stepped in and got us seated after hearing how long we’d been waiting. Unfortunately, the service didn’t get any better from there. After finishing our first round of tacos, we placed a second order… and then waited. And waited. After 30 minutes with no food and no updates, our waitress came by to clear the table. I mentioned we were still waiting on our order, and she casually said, “It’s almost here,” but also mentioned they were backed up with other tables. A few minutes later, the manager walked by and told me to “Talk to me.” I explained we’d been waiting over 30 minutes, and another 10-20 minutes after that, he finally brought out HALF of what we ordered (a random mix of tacos) and some fries “on the house.” Then an older man came over and gave us one of the strangest excuses I’ve ever heard at a restaurant. He said they canceled our order (without telling us) because we had ordered “too much” and they thought we wouldn’t be able to finish it. For the record, we had already finished everything we ordered before, so that assumption was completely wrong. And even if they had concerns, they could’ve just told us—not silently canceled our order and made us wait around wondering what was going on. To top it all off, when we got the bill, there was an automatic 20% gratuity added. After all that waiting and terrible service, they definitely didn’t earn that. We recalculated it and left 10%, which honestly felt generous considering the experience. Meanwhile, our waitress was more focused on socializing with another table, even taking sips of their drinks and asking them, “Is it OK if I drink this?”—incredibly unprofessional. The place seemed completely understaffed for their Taco Tuesday deal. The whole night felt chaotic, disorganized, and frustrating. The only positive: they’re generous with the meat on their tacos. But is it worth the wait and the hassle? In my opinion, no.
With a forced 20% gratuity to the bill waiters dontreally care if they give good service. $6 dollars for a 8oz fountain drink is insane. I broke a tooth eating a steak quesadilla. This place overall sucked. Finished plates just sat there for the longest time. I wasnt offered a refill on my drink. Warning : chew the Steak quesadilla carefully. It comes with rocks. Day old champagne with what tasted like gone bad orange juice.
