Im suggesting that you run here upon reading this review. Im talking old school feels, premier VIP treatment and food to die for. I have had Beef Wellington in many places and thought this might just be another wrapped steak......Man was I pleased and grateful for the flavor, tenderness and quality of the prepared provisions. Perfect to the extent that you could squish it in half with your 👅 against the roof of your mouth. Truffle Mac, Ribeye, Salmon, o EAST/WEST Oysters, Signature 🥗 & creative libations were all top notch. Thank you for the experience and I will be back regularly.
The Beef Wellington is outstanding. We also loved the tempura onion rings, beef tartare, and fish. Cocktails are generous. Harry’s is a long-standing Financial District institution that has weathered every market downturn with aplomb.
Harry’s has that old-school New York charm wrapped in a modern, moody glow dark wood tables, soft golden table lamps, and ceiling lights that make the whole place feel cinematic. It’s the kind of spot that works perfectly for both a date night and a classy business dinner. I ordered the Beef Wellington, and honestly, it was beautifully balanced. The puff pastry was perfectly crisp without being dry, the beef stayed tender and juicy at a perfect medium-rare, and the subtle truffle aroma in the sauce tied everything together. Served on a silver platter, it looked as good as it tasted. If you’re a steakhouse lover, their prime ribeye or NY strip is also worth trying the char and crust are spot on, and you can really tell they know their meat. Finished off with the bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream 🍨 warm, creamy, not overly sweet, and the perfect cozy ending to the meal. ✨ In short: elegant, nostalgic, and delicious!! a place that truly captures the spirit of classic New York dining done right.
Great place if you get a chance to go. The bar is super nice and welcoming. Bartenders are very friendly and make amazing drinks. We ended up staying for dinner and it didn't disappoint. Beef Wellington we so good. Highly recommend this place.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Harry’s in NYC, a restaurant highly recommended by a friend, and I can confidently say it lived up to every expectation. We hosted clients for a business dinner, and this establishment proved exceptional from start to finish. We were fortunate to have Omar as our server—he was much more than just a server; he felt like our personal concierge, anticipating our needs before we even expressed them. The food, especially the steak, was perfectly cooked, and the side dishes were delightful. Each bite was a reminder of why this place is so celebrated. The service was flawless. Harry’s offer of convenient check-in for briefcases, backpacks, and coats right from the outset was invaluable since we came straight from the office and debated whether to return to our hotel first. The drinks, coffee, and desserts complemented the meal beautifully. Although we didn’t indulge in wine, the restaurant boasts an impressive selection curated by an expert sommelier. Overall, Harry’s is an absolute must-visit. From the exquisite food to the impeccable service, it’s a perfect 5-star experience in every way. Thanks to James Walsh! I forgot to mention that there were no open spots that evening, but he got us in!!
They have the widest selection of Scotches I’ve seen in a while! Make sure to order something you don’t usually see in a bar restaurant. The food and service is fantastic. The ambiance is top notch. Just try it for yourself. This place is in the financial district.
My favorite place to get a Guinness! They do such a good pour. But also a favorite for cocktails, food, people watching and all. The service is great, good time all around.
The food was really good! We ordered two different steaks with sides, and everything was well-cooked and flavorful. The cocktails were also great, definitely a highlight. The service was fine. The biggest downside was how crowded it was; it was so noisy that it was hard to hear each other. Also, they ran out of the dish I specifically came for, which was disappointing, but overall, it was still a good experience. Would consider going back!
LOVED this place. We had the tuna tar tar, wedge and lamb curry with a Pinot noir and everything was outstanding. Our favorite was the tuna. The atmosphere and staff were excellent, we would for sure go back.
Located in New York's Wall Street district, this exceptional establishment offers a refined dining experience. Situated on the ground floor, access requires descending a short flight of stairs. While lacking dedicated parking, convenient street parking (free on Sundays) and nearby parking structures are available. The restaurant's elegant ambiance evokes a mid-century aesthetic, reflected in the staff's attire, chevron flooring, and period lighting (see attached photos). During our brunch visit, the atmosphere was busy yet pleasantly subdued. The service was outstanding; our waiters were friendly, attentive, and ensured a continuous supply of champagne. The renowned Harry's complimentary Unlimited Champagne order orange juice and blood orange juice and made our own mimosas Brunch (Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm) features exceptional cuisine. The French toast, in particular, was superb, exceeding expectations even for a non-French toast enthusiast. This restaurant is undoubtedly among the best in New York City; a visit is highly recommended.
Harry’s is a true NYC standout. Their wine list of over 3,000 bottles is world-class, and the Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection. The whipped potatoes were creamy, and the asparagus was fresh and crisp. Exceptional dining all around.
Came for lunch, and What a beautiful romantic experience in downtown Manhattan, classy, with top tier service from beginning to end. Now the food, the seafood tower amazing, the soup, the beef Wellington and swordfish all delicious and get the hash browns. All the servers were attentive and friendly! Just know that it starts picking up after 5 so get reservations I can’t wait to see you when I come back for more. 💛
Largest wine cellar in the city, and it did not disappoint. Went in for a dinner, focusing on the wine more than the kitchen. Such a well priced selection with a lot of depth! The food was fairly standard, with some low points, including the tomahawk and trofie.
Excellent experience, great service and even better food. I can see why they are know for the Beef Wellington but the rest of the food was just as good.
If you’re looking for a fine, classic NY steakhouse experience, then Harry’s is the place for you & yours! Situated in perhaps the most historic part of FiDi (see pic; I tried to feature a helpful view); neighbors with iconic skyscrapers, and housed in a building featured in the ‘90s film Kate & Leopold, I believe. Such a romantic setting for a date. I’ve had the pleasure & privilege to dine at both Harry’s (more formal steakhouse space) as well as Harry’s Side Bar (around the corner), and both experiences have been lights-out! Go for lunch (not as busy) and you might just find yourself in the midst of a grand gathering of bankers, harkening back to the old power lunch of old Wall Street times. Oh yes, the food review; sorry, I get ahead of myself sometimes. You came for the steak, right? You must try the aged ribeye (see pic). I’ve been to a many steakhouses, and Harry’s wins the gold for all-around best aged ribeye. No sugarcoating. I love it when I gently scrap the large, wide steak knife that’s provided and hear that iconic crisp crust sound of a well-prepared steak. Medium-rare it needs to be. Savour each bite. Like a steak version of bone marrow (does that even work??). It truly is mouthwateringly delicious. Personally, I opt-out of the house made steak sauce; the beef speaks for itself. And I like my steak’s sidekick to be the garlic broccolini. In Summer, I like Halibut, and Harry’s (Side Bar) did a fantastic job, with a refreshing dressing of fresh summer vegetables in a light tomato broth. A chilled white made for a perfect pairing. I can’t recommend Harry’s highly enough ❤️ Make your reservation today, and the good vibes should stick with you for years to come!
One of my favourite steakhouses in the city and often overlooked in NYC steakhouse lists. Originally just a cocktail bar, Harry's then switched to full steakhouse. Also don't sleep on Harry's Side Bar either, a great place to grab a drink before dinner, or you can just go straight to the bar at Harry's. Great tasting steaks, grab both the dry-aged NY strip and the dry-aged rib eye.
What a classic New York staple. Ambience perfect Staff, friendly and extremely attentive Clean and organized Cheesecake, the freshest I had in all of New York Cocktail menu superb Food unforgettable
My first time at Harry’s for lunch and I will definitely be coming back! Jay C. and Faith made my boyfriend’s birthday lunch very special. The food was hot and came out quickly. The bartenders are truly making art at the bar! Make sure you try their cocktails along with the Cajun ribeye.
Delicious steaks and sides in a contemporary steakhouse vibe. Pricey. 4/5 on value. But the food, service, and ambiance were all on point.
Harry's is an iconic, long-time steakhouse in Lower Manhattan's Financial District (FiDi) that's as classy as the food and service is excellent. If the beautiful wood walls could talk, oh the stories they would tell. I've sat at the bar for drinks and a bite to eat and in the dining room where the staff looks after your every need. Omar is exceptional in his suggestions and professional service. He has a way of making you feel special every time and I've been there many, many times. The steaks are reliably delicious as is the seafood dishes, especially the cracked snow crab, when they have it - amazing! I live in the area, and this is one of my favorite restaurants, world-wide.
Very kool restaurant in the Financial district. Popular evening spot. Food was excellent and sommelier went out of his way to help select the perfect French wine!
Harry's has been a go-to spot of mine when I am in the mood for steak and special occasion. Bringing my friend here for her birthday, both of us have dined here before and had great experiences each visit. And yet again, this steakhouse nails it each and every time. Consistency is king. Coming in at 8pm sharp for our reservation, we were warmly greeted by the lovely hosts, who wished my friend a happy birthday (as noted in our reservation details, but still it was very much appreciated and very thoughtful, so thank you!). We were told that our table was just being prepared for us. The dining room was packed, not a seat available. Thursday nights are always sleepers for the crowds dining out, not to mention your Financial District employees coming in after work. Within 3 minutes or so, we were sat and promptly greeted and our beverage order taken. Our server Ashley, greeted us promptly and did not rush us. Very electric personality and friendly and attentive. After a few moments Ashley returned to took our order; my friend ordering the dry aged bone-in New York strip, while I opted for the Beef Wellington, because all I know is fine dining and breathing. We rounded out our order with the potatoe purée and asparagus. My friends strip came out a perfect medium-rare throughout, with lovely seading and crusting that oozed with the natural flavors and a lovely crushing of black peppercorns and salt. The Wellington, a thick and hearty cut, cooked to perfection and so buttery in its texture, only complimented by the crispy puff pastry. The purée and asparagus complimented the main courses, as my friend enjoyed a simple mixed beverage, and myself a glass of red wine. We passed on desert as we leave no plate unclean, and just couldn't rise to the occasion, despite the most amusing persuasive attempts from Ashley. The night was lovely. The food, sensational. The service, perfect. My friend truly enjoyed her birthday celebration. And on the way out, the hostess again wishing her a happy birthday... it really is just the little things that are the cherries on top of the sweetness of all that Harry's offers.
My daughter and I had such a warm and wonderful experience at Harry’s last night! Seated in a cozy circular nook detailed with rich wood and fabulous wallpaper treatments, we were enthusiastically greeted by Alex, who was not only our server but one of the restaurants Captains. Alex had come in on his day off because he knew how busy his team was going to be five days before Christmas. We are thankful he did, what a bright spot in our day! We ordered the prosciutto, asparagus and arugula salad with shaved Parmesan and a lemon vinaigrette along with cacio e Pepe and both were delicious and we devoured them immediately. Mid dinner Alex announced his shift was coming to and end and turned us over to the capable hands of Jordan, another Captain at Harry’s. Jordan was just as interactive and lovely and so much fun to end our night with. So thank you Alex and Jordan for making our evening!! Come see me @queenjaynes if you come down towards Atlantic City!
My one complaint, and I'm surprised not to have seen others mention it: this place is LOUD. When it gets crowded, everyone is shouting across their tables at each other. If you are sensitive to noise, be forewarned. Other than that, Harry's is amazing. The staff are attentive, professional, and friendly. The decor is perfect, warm and dark, with each table its own little island of light. And the food is terrific. I got the soup du jour (lentil with bacon). Although it was thinner than similar soups I have had in the past, the flavor was good, and there was enough bacon in it to keep it interesting without overwhelming it. I followed that up with their (rightly) famous beef Wellington. The beef was tender, the pastry was delicate, the duxelles was flavorful, and the red wine truffle sauce complemented the whole dish. I had a slice of NY cheescake for dessert, a refreshing end to a rich meal. To preface and to accompany the meal, I drank an "Old Mr Johnson," Harry's take on an old-fashioned. It was incredibly smooth. With dessert, I ordered the vintage port, which was a Cockburn '91. Again, it was a very smooth drink, with a pleasantly complex flavor. I need to mention the portion sizes: in particular, the entree and both drinks were VERY generously sized, about double what I had expected. If you're in New York and looking for a sophisticated meal with good food and drink at a decent price, make your way to the Financial District and check out Harry's.
Harry’s at Hanover Square is straight-up FiDi legend, walking in feels like you’ve time-traveled to the best era of Wall Street, dark wood panels everywhere, crisp white tablecloths, and that perfect buzz of power lunches and after-work deals. It’s old-school New York through and through, but zero pretension. The staff are warm, attentive without hovering, and actually seem happy you’re there – our server nailed every recommendation and made the whole night feel effortless. Food and drinks are outstanding. Started with the classic shrimp cocktail – three massive, ice-cold jumbo shrimp that were insanely fresh and paired perfectly with the cocktail sauce. Then the dry-aged NY strip, cooked exactly medium-rare, beautifully charred crust, juicy and full of flavor from their longtime butcher. Martinis were ice-cold and strong, just the way they should be. Harry’s is an institution you’ll want to keep coming back to. Five stars, no question!
2nd time coming here and it was truly an amazing experience the food was amazing. The service was amazing. Dom was our server and truly you could tell he was busy but he took care of us amazingly! Definitely coming back here and if you’re trying to decide if you should come here at all please do!
It’s unbelievable that in the Wall Street area the biggest investment you can make is a reservation at Harry’s. The food is excellent, the ingredients clearly aren’t cutting corners, and the cocktail bar is generous! But the real standout was the service. Nick is basically the glue holding the night together: friendly, respectful, and impressively unbothered by questions (and follow-up questions). He explained the dishes multiple times, and even did it in Spanish like it was the easiest thing in the world. If Harry’s is a portfolio, Nick is the blue-chip.
Celebrated my birthday here -- wow! This place is everything you want from a great steakhouse. The steak was top-notch, the sides were delicious (the polenta fries lived up to their reputation), the service and drinks were excellent, and the vibe is wonderful. Can't wait to come back!
I hosted my 30th birthday party at Harry’s and I cannot BEGIN to explain just how helpful & accommodating the staff is. We worked through every single detail together and they always met me halfway & provided the best possible solutions for a smooth and organized evening. I’d like to give a special shout out to the concierge manager, Nadia, she was an absolute treat to work with. Everyone knows Harry’s for their incredible food (hence why I did my party there) but I really believe their amazing service needs to be in the spotlight as well. Can’t wait to visit again soon! 10/10!
I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and Harry’s has consistently been an underrated go to for every occasion: brunch, dinners, dates. The service here is absolutely exceptional every time, and maintains that essence of old New York charm that’s been lost at other institutions. Special thanks to Nathan who made our Thurs evening go from a last min plan to a great memory. Can’t go wrong with Harry’s!
We had the absolute best time celebrating at Harry's. We rented the private rooms for the evening and the setting, the food, and the service were second to none. I could not recommend Harry's more to anyone looking to enjoy an evening or host an event there. Dom made our night feel so special and the rest of the staff did as well.
Harry’s was an amazing choice. The vibe of the place is classic, lively, and just the right balance of upscale and welcoming. Huge shoutout to Jay, our waiter, who was absolutely exceptional. He didn’t just provide great service—he knew the history of the restaurant, the menu inside and out, and gave thoughtful recommendations that made our night. That level of knowledge and genuine enthusiasm really elevates the entire dining experience. A staff like that is essential to a place. Great food and atmosphere matter, but service like Jay’s is what makes you want to come back. Highly recommend Harry’s and definitely ask for Jay if you can!
Wow, just wow. First off, their wine list? You could get lost in there for hours and still want more. And the food—don’t even get me started. I went for the Beef Wellington, and it was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. The whipped potatoes were insanely creamy, and the asparagus was crisp and fresh, giving the perfect balance to the dish. Everything about the meal just screamed “special occasion,” but in the best, totally relaxed way. The staff were super friendly and made it feel like a little hidden gem in the city. I’ve already told so many friends about it, and I can’t wait to go back for another round. Absolute must for food and wine lovers.
Great restaurant to enjoy Beef Wellington when you are in the mood. Their Wellington does not use any prosciutto or any other type of pork meat. Safe for those who have dietary restrictions. With the above being said, rib eye and porterhouse will always be much more flavorful if you are looking for stronger taste from your steaks.
Great spot! We really enjoyed the atmosphere — cozy and welcoming — and the seating was comfortable too. We ordered a burger and a sandwich, and both were tasty, with the sandwich standing out as our favorite. The burger was a classic, but the flavors were well-balanced, and the meat was especially good — juicy and flavorful.
Atmosphere is nice. However the food was just ok. We had the beef wellington and also the squid ink linguine. The linguine was tasteless, beef Wellington is not that impressive either. The only good one is Harry’s salad
Sunday brunch comes with unlimited sparkling (90 mins limit) with any purchase of entrees. The portions are large and generally the entrees were all good. We generally enjoyed the crab cake and the baked clams a lot, and the branzino salad was delicious as well. The fish was extremely well cooked.
Harry’s was one of the best restaurants we visited in New York City. Its location is excellent, right on Wall Street, and it offers a wide Italian menu with different portion sizes and very reasonable prices. The staff was always attentive and friendly. The food overall was very good, and the atmosphere was outstanding, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. The only downsides were that the fried calamari portion was a bit small for its price, and the men’s restroom was somewhat dirty. Aside from those minor issues, the experience was excellent and definitely worth it.
Went for dinner with a big group. Overall very nice experience. One negative, which typically would be a deal breaker for me - my steak was overcooked. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare. It came out medium, even almost partly medium well. Saving grace is it was very flavorful. And my friend whose ribeye was actually served medium rare as ordered, shared some of his steak with me. I would have sent mine back but didn’t want to deal with waiting for a redo. Otherwise very enjoyable meal. Good service. Massive wine list. Appetizers (oysters, shrimp cocktail, salads) were good. Sides (cream spinach, asparagus, crispy polenta) were good. Desserts (afogato, bread pudding) were good.
Had lunch at Harry’s Steakhouse in the Financial District and the food was excellent. I ordered the lamb curry and the hangar steak—both were cooked well and had great flavor. The only downside was the wait. It took longer than expected for the food to come out, especially for a weekday lunch when timing matters. Still, the quality of the dishes made it worth it, and I’d go back, just maybe not when I’m in a rush. Overall, a solid 4-star experience.
Reliable Financial District steakhouse with that classic Wall Street charm. The food was outstanding—perfectly cooked dry-aged NY strip (juicy and flavorful), fresh oysters Rockefeller, and a rich Beef Wellington that was a highlight. Sides like truffle fries and creamed spinach were spot-on too. Service was attentive and professional—great recommendations on the massive wine list. Atmosphere is upscale and cozy with suede booths and low lighting, but it can feel a tad dated or busy during peak times. Solid choice for a business dinner or special night out!
Food was a little cold and the place was very loud but the drinks were great and the service excellent.
I decided to go to Harry’s for my birthday with my husband because of all the good reviews. But to be honest, I was kinda disappointed. When I walked in to restaurant I already felt that something was off, the music didn’t quite fit the environment. It made the place feel more like a beer hall or a bar, I know music is a personal preference, so I tried to ignore it. However, the interiors and decorations were nice —beautiful, actually! The food were the most important part for the night, and most of it was fine. We really like the the lamb chops—they were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. But the scallops my husband got has sands in them so he couldn’t eat them and returned the dish. They were very nice to took it off the bill. Also, the crab corn soup had a fishy smell, I still finished it tho, didn’t have any issues, it was probably just my sensitivity. Anyway, it was an okay dinner, I was hoping for better quality since it was my birthday.
Average at best. Prime NY Strip was not great for the price. Flavor was marginal and steak tough in places. 3 of us had the same and all were not wowed. Much better steaks and service at competition like Luger, etc...
Great service and a nice environment. But the Beef Wellington wasn’t worth the price or the wait. The steak itself had very little flavor aside from the wine in the seasoning. The truffle sauce didn’t taste like black truffle, and the puff pastry wasn’t crispy. Overall, the components didn’t come together as a cohesive dish. That said, the staff were all very kind, and if you’d like to visit, I’d recommend trying dishes other than the Beef Wellington.
TLDR: Booked a reservation in advance as this spot is known for their beef wellington. Both the service and quality of food were disappointing to say the least. Also, the prices are insanely high with no reason as the plating is lacking as is the quality of the food. 📝 Looked up this place to eat beef wellington in NYC a month in advance since I was making the trip from Toronto so imagine my surprise when this was honestly the most overhyped place I have ever thrown my hard earned money at. -[STEAK TARTARE & FRIES] $35USD/52CAD 🥩 This was indeed prepared tableside and even though I had my phone out ready to take photos/videos since the menu specified it would be done tableside, the person responsible for it started doing that before I even confirmed I was ready to start filming/photographing the experience. I very clearly was snapping photos/videos of other things as he arrived so I have nothing left to say about that aspect 🥩 The portion was also incredibly small for the price paid 🥬 The ONE good thing about this dish was that it was served with leaves of lettuce and wrapping that around the beef tartare was a refreshing take I have yet to come across before -[BEEF WELLINGTON] $74USD/101CAD 🥩 I am still appalled that for $74, it was the smallest serving I have ever had and the cut of the beef wasn't even particularly good. I would have forgiven both of those aspects if the flavors were there but nope, overall an extremely underwhelming dish 🥩 Served with the most basic sauce that didn't have much depth in flavor 🤦🏻♀️Their menu/google reviews have also specified that they have limited availability for this dish so imagine my surprise when our server made me feel like an idiot for having asked if they had any of this dish still when I was ordering 📝 Our server had to have been the worst one I have had in a long time. He questioned us like we were beggars when between two people, the above is all we ordered. I have never in my life been treated this way at a restaurant that claims to provide, "timeless elegance and contemporary comforts" Spent almost $200CAD (because we tipped even though the service was horrible) to leave feeling like my existence at this restaurant was a sin and to top it all off, left feeling like I hadn't even eaten anything. Avoid this place.
The service was surprisingly upsetting. Received passive aggression due to one of our members sending back a dish due to it containing ingredients they had specifically requested to be removed. Our waiter literally came up to us with the new dish and tells us “and this is for [item he dislikes] that’s what we’re calling you [item he dislikes]”. On another note my $78 beef Wellington was delicious but not worth the mistreatment. The Cesar salad is made “table side” which is incredible but the taste was not there. It was very underwhelming. Very very vinegary. We also were charged $76 extra for items we never asked for due to “another server putting those items on our table”. Luckily we looked at the receipt before paying to have them removed. Overall, I would not return to this establishment.
The atmosphere is good, food quality is okay. I was just astonished to see how the management worked. I sat in the main dining with my fiance, anyone who came in wearing "regular" or non formal wear was tucked away inside of the "winery" they love to advertise as prestigious but in all actuality it is a tiny cube sized room where all causally dressed people sat or people who they were profiling to be non "attractive" to have in the main dining. I literally witnessed a table of 4 TWICE (two different parties) with non formal wear get placed into the main dining only mid seating to be told to get up and move to the other setting. It was very obvious and also extremely sad. To think this supposed "5 star" is doing this is bewildering. Everyone who wore a basic tee shirt or was in casual wear was all coincidentally stuffed away. Anyone in button down tailored suits or designer bags were in the main dining even when many seats were available. If you're spending this amount of money for food you expect the same quality in management. Casa Tua, Ambrose, Felice is marginally better in service, quality of meal. The raspberry special for dessert was literally store bought artificial raspberry jam on top of chocolate mousse. It was horrible. Not even a single drop of raspberry purée for a 20 dollar dessert? Also all "glasses" were plastic. Mediocre. I was unimpressed. 2/5.
We went here for a Valentine’s Day dinner expecting a nice experience, but it turned into a nightmare. After eating the ribeye steak, I became extremely sick and ended up throwing up shortly after our meal. We informed the manager right away, and instead of showing concern or offering any help, he did absolutely nothing. He simply insisted that the steak was not what made me sick — with no investigation, no apology, and no care for how I was feeling. This completely ruined what was supposed to be a special night with the love of my life. Poor food safety and even worse customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Quite an underwhelming experience for $600+ dinner. Made a reservation and they were unable to find our reservation and hostess was responsive in a combative way “well are you sure you made it for the Harry’s on Hanover square, and not another Harry’s?!”, “are you sure it’s not under a different name??”. They finally accommodated us, but quite reluctantly. Continuing on to dinner the service was slow, our main waitress was quite rude and barely checked in on us, food was not cooked as requested- burger requested well done, was medium, filet mignon was requested well done, and was completely pink throughout. The staff who filled up our waters and brought us the beer and cocktails from the bar were lovely, but everyone else seemed like we were a burden to be there. Quite strange when literally behind our table we had a male patron standing up screaming at his female table mates making a scene, and none of the waitstaff responded to this 10 minute ordeal. Needless to say, not a place I would recommend or return to.
