Been here a handful of times and loved everything I've had, including specials. Most recently, their take on a chicken parm that was amazing. Hoping they make it a regular item, maybe even bring back the chicken Caesar wrap. Their play on classics are 🔥 (as is the traditional stuff)
I love Levantine (Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon) food so much. I’ve been to Tanoreen, Karam, Ayat, and Yemen Cafe in Bay Ridge, BK. I’ve been to Al-Basha in Paterson and I’ve had real live sittis cook for me and I had the BEST LAMB I’VE EVER HAD at Hen House Tonight. I really wanted the crispy rice and assumed I’d get a dried out kebab on the side. But no. A mouthwatering bowl of rice with truck style bbq and white sauce and the most succulent, moist, perfectly seasoned lamb. Better than Italian lamb shank. Better than Greek rack of lamb. Dare I say, better than the halal truck at 86th and 5th in Bay Ridge. I will be going back soon to try the kanafeh sandwich and pancake! Go see Watermelon Pictures All That’s Left of You or The Voice of Hind Rajab and eat dinner at Hen House NYC!
Hands down one of the best meals I had in 2025 and one of the best meals I've ever had in New York City. This place is SPECIAL. I first learned of Chef Tony in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. I was recovering from almost dying of COVID and was spending more time on social media. I know it sounds ridiculous but I actually added "eating this fried chicken sandwich" to my bucket list of things I would do if I recovered 😅. I had no idea when it would happen but I knew I had to have it. Let me tell you, almost 5 full years later fully recovered and happily married to a New Yorker (I'm from Arizona by the way), I walked into this restaurant with my husband. Do you know how good the food has to be for it to go on my bucket list, much less stand up to the slow burn anticipation of over 5 years?! Well, it IS that good. The chicken sandwich was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with delicious bread and pickled vegetables. The House Piri Piri sauce was incredible! Every bite was delicious, nourishing, and filling. We also ordered the Torta and had the Chicken Shawarma, too. They were so flavorful. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, but I sat there smiling and slowly eating. Belly full and heart so happy. The coffee is not pictured but that was amazing, too. We were so happy that we ordered a chicken sandwich to go so that we could share it with my mother in law. Tony is the REAL DEAL. He has put his heart and soul into the food he prepares, you can taste it in every bite. I walked out of that restaurant feeling blessed! I can't wait to go back. I'm planning another trip in March. In the meantime, I hope YOU enjoy this food as much as I did. Thanks again, Tony for making a chicken sandwich that was so good that it motivated me to have something to look forward to when it felt like the world was ending. I'm wishing you so much success!
I came here on a Saturday night after being rejected from every trendy restaurant in the area and god was I happy I did. I’ve eaten twice here now and both times the food has been EXCEPTIONAL. The lamb birria, the fried chicken and the crunch wrap are stand outs. Incredibly flavorful. The homemade hot sauce and ranch were also fantastic. The owner was also very friendly. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Incredibly delicious food. Not too fatty, perfectly seasoned! We had chicken shawarma wrap, and Lamb Birria awere simple and delicious. Falafel is so tender, authentic and not oily at all. One of the best Lebanese food we’ve tried.
Every time I want to remember what this place is called, I forget. I had a chicken shawarma here once, and it was delicious. I tried the knefe pancakes on another day and it was too good. For anyone who left a review stating that the pancake wasn’t good over delivery… this is not the dish to get delivery (clearly). Everything needs to be hot and melty for you to understand the amazingness of this dish. I was scared since I’ve never had knefe and also the cheese… but it’s worth it. Super big. I have been sleeping on this culture in terms of food, but don’t worry! I’m awake now. Customer service a1. I’m leaving a review so I can stop forgetting lol
Have wanted to visit here for over a year and it did not disappoint. The best schwarma I've ever had, hands down. Every ingredient is perfect, down to the crunch of the pickles. The guy at the counter was awesome and gave me a free sample of the lamb just so I could try it Not to be missed
This place is 100% worth the hype! The knafeh pancake is an incredible masterpiece. The pancake itself is similar to a moist cornbread that made love with crunchy knafeh and cheese. I'll definitely be back for more. The lamb shawarma birria was out of this world! The lamb is unbelievably tender and flavorful. I love how cheesey it was and had a bit of a crunch from the toasted markouk.
Might be the best shawarma in the city. Got a chicken shawarma supreme which was MASSIVE and delicious. Also got the ramp pesto and cheese pastry from their brunch menu which was unbelievable, such flaky pastry with unbelievable flavors. Place is cute, service is great and very quick. Food is out of this world
Hi Tony, could you please bring back the lamb shawarma with hot honey and cheese? It was the first thing I ordered at Hen House back in May 2024 and I loved it so much I even got another one to go. My mom, who is usually picky about restaurant food, loved it too and I am still thinking about it😭
If you’re looking for a spot that delivers incredible quality food with bold flavors, The Hen House in NYC is a must-visit. Everything we tried—from the Crunch Wrap to the pancakes—was absolutely amazing. The ingredients tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and the balance of flavors was spot on. Whether you’re in the mood for something crispy and savory or a classic sweet breakfast treat, they’ve got you covered. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal in the city!
Really cozy little spot! The place is small but super welcoming. The pancakes are huge — definitely something to share. They come with a good amount of cheese, though the batter could be a bit moister. There’s this aromatic flavor that makes them a little different — depends on your taste, but I kinda liked it. The chicken sandwich was awesome, and the service was great too. Everyone there was super nice and friendly.
Amazing food and clean interior; we had the famous chicken sandwich and the chicken supreme Shawarma as recommended by the staff. The chicken supreme shawarma had very garlicky chickens and was filled with delicious vegetables (e.g., eggplant, fried potatoes, and pickles). The garlic was so strong that I had a garlicky breath after finishing this. The chicken sandwich had a very crispy chicken fillet and came in a big portion. I liked the spicy sauce and cabbage pickles that added a nice layer to the sandwich. Overall a great place for a quick and delicious Lebanese meal :)
The food here is amazing. I live in Westchester and refuse to come to the city but this place convinced me. However, service was underwhelming. When we came in, it was packed and there was a line for a table. A staff member took an entire table to wrap presents which made no sense. The priority would be to ensure traffic is being controlled and patrons had seating no? The blonde lady working the register seemed overwhelmed. We ordered the cheese crusted shwarma which is featured on their Instagram page but she didn’t know what we were talking about. We showed her the video and she tried to make us order the birria shawarma instead which we said no to. The order came and it was not cheese crusted but we took it. She gave us one fork for two people. We ordered the knafeh pancake and she stated they did not have a knife and lastly, while we were eating she pulled our food away and I told her we are not done eating. This place is a gem in terms of food but I hope staff are provided better training. Would love to see this place thrive even more because the dishes are unique and you can feel the love put into it by the owners. Ordered Knafeh pancake, soujouk shawarma, batata harra and Persian blue lager.
Was stoked to try the Knafe pancakes and was pretty disappointed. Now, I got mine to go, so some of the ingredients were disassembled. The cake was pretty dry. The berries were mushy and not all that sweet. The cheese in the middle was ok. It wasn’t that crispy either. Compared to another viral pancake (golden diner), i remember this one being more expensive and less moist. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but for nearly $30, it should have been much better.
I tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16) and thought it was pretty good. The chicken itself was smaller than the bun which was annoying, but the flavors were good and unique. It wasn’t super filling, and for $16 I would expect a bigger sandwich or at least have it come with a side. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. The restaurant itself was nice and clean and the staff is nice.
