My favorite Omakase! Great location in East Village and the team is simply wonderful from Daniella and Veera to Chef June, everyone there feels like family. Service is quick and you leave satisfied for such an affordable price and a fabulous omakase experience. The fish is so fresh that it feels like the first time every time.
Came to Moko NYC for a valentines dinner without prior knowledge or expectations. The waitress Veera was beyond accommodating and hospitable!! Great atmosphere and food.. the 18 course meal is heaven sent! Most definitely will be coming back
Had an amazing omakase experience at Moko, a cozy sushi spot in East Village. 🍣 The sushi was exceptional, with ingredients flown in fresh daily from Japan. 🛫🇯🇵 The service was top-notch, and the chef was so friendly and welcoming. I especially loved the relaxed vibe—no strict meal times, just a chill, flexible dining experience. I absolutely loved it can’t wait to come back 🍣
We had unforgettable culinary journey in the heart of East Village! 🍣✨ Chef Steven’s expertise, previously worked at Michelin-starred establishments, shone through in every meticulously crafted dish. The freshness of the fish flown in from Japan was unparalleled, and Chef Steven’s creativity elevated each bite to new heights. This spot has 2 omakase options. The first one is a 15 course for $95 and the second one is 18 course for $125. We chose the 18-course omakase experience and it was worth every penny! It comes with miso soup, an appetizer , 14 nigiri , 1 hand roll and a divine homemade dessert. Every course was a delight for the senses. Can’t wait to return for another extraordinary dining adventure!
The food here is AMAZING!!!! The chef , Chef Steven, so beyond nice, personable, friendly, chatty and truly makes incredible sushi. Omakase is so fun when the chef is talkative to the customers and Chef Steven was great! Each piece of nigiri was also so tasty and original. There was one piece that tasted like a bagel and lock! I also love how it started with a miso soup and crispy rice. Check out Moko for a good omakase under $100 in NYC!
Wow. The customer service experience was amazing. Ralph truly did a great job. Ralph gave us a recommendation for sake and even shared some of the restaurants sake. Once we sat down and started eating, we were truly amazed of the freshness and quality of the fish. Can’t be the price! Will be back!
I went the 9 course omakase experience with my lady and we had a good time. I think this is a great introduction into this kind of thing if you're new to omakase. It can be a bit overwhelming to do 13 courses if you dont like fish that much. That being said I wish the portion of the soup/crispy rice/dessert were slightly bigger. Compared to other similar priced omakase you tend to get more but this place had fish I dont usually see...was ok. Not my favorite but overall service was great
We came and ordered the 15-courses for around $100++/person. There is a wide variety of fish but i wouldn’t say they include a lot of premium options. The rice texture and flavors are great. The setting is ambient and you don’t have to wait in line. Personally I think the pricing is too high for the value we received, comparing many other omakase restaurants I have eaten.
The quality of the fish was great, but even so, the price of the meal wasn’t worth it. We particularly enjoyed the 2nd round of sushi but would recommend skipping the appetizers. The general impression I had was that the price of all the other items was greatly increased to offset the cost of good fish. Omakase is expensive for a reason and I think I would have preferred spending more on the fish if the price point of the other items matched their quality. Additionally the set comes out in two rounds as opposed to one per course, so the experience is a little faster moving. If you’re looking for tasty fish and a casual meal this is a great option, but I wouldn’t consider it a substitute for a quality omakase.
Very fairly priced 13 piece omakase. We really liked the first plate of 7 nigiri which had the more classic fish but with lots of different flavors. Tomato on a sushi? Turns out, yes please. The second plate was a bit more hit and miss. The toro was heated which made the texture unfortunate. Everything is gluten free which is great. Corkage fee of $20 per bottle feels a bit high (looks like it used to be $10) but NYC also needs more BYOB restaurants imo.
My first omakase experience was here last week and I quite enjoyed it. To be honest, I’ve always felt that omakase is a scam and overpriced, but this place got my attention with its sort of affordable price. The new price is $95 for 15 courses, 13 pieces of sushi/nigiri. I thought it was great for an introduction of what omakase is. We were lucky enough to have the restaurant be pretty much empty, with only 2 other groups dining. It made for a laid back atmosphere, which we ended up chatting with the sushi chef for a bit during our dinner. The dishes were very, very good. I really liked the scallop, tuna belly, and uni nigiri. The salmon, tartar, and tomato one threw me off completely. Definitely take that outta here. All in all, I would come back. The service was incredible and the waitress / host was very nice.
Absolutely loved my experience at Moko! The staff, especially Chef Steven, were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was simply amazing and definitely worth it. The only downside was the long wait due to Chef Steven being the only one working. Despite the increasing number of customers, he managed to keep up with the demand. However, having an additional chef on board would greatly improve the service speed and efficiency. Hoping that can be arranged soon!
Stumbled upon Moko on Resy as I was looking to get omakase and needed a last minute reservation. I booked my reservation and was able to dine within 30 mins of booking which was nice. The staff were really friendly, attentive and provided great description on each dish. The fish was fresh, the rice was warm and everything was impeccably sauced. The otoro was a melt in your mouth type of dish, and the sesame nigiri was a highlight! Really loved that they also offered complimentary sake. Definitely coming back and will be bringing a bottle of wine or sake. It was the only thing that was I was missing!
Made a last minute reservation on a Sunday for date night. Seemed like a relatively slow night so service was pretty hands on for us. We got the 15 course omakase that comes with 12 nigiri. Nigiri itself was on the smaller end of sizes i'm used to. While the value for an omakase spot is good here (especially at $65), i've had better for a similar price point. The taste itself was very good, but again, I've had better elsewhere. The best pieces from the omakase were probably the otoro and shrimp. We got some Ikura and Scallop Nigiri at the end of the a la carte menu, which were very good. Our server initially forgot that we had only had 6 courses of nigiri and got us our check but was pretty nice about it when she realized. Would recommend if you're in the area and want some omakase for food value, but there are definitely better spots in the city if you're looking for the best sub $100 omakase
Great place to dine. The decor is great and the servers come quick once you order. I'd recommend the 18 piece meal, as it gives you a great selection of sushi, along with two appetizers. If you're really hungry, get the 22 piece meal. You'll get all three appetizers with the meal. It's all delicious and the desert is subtle, yet amazing. An added note, it's BYOB and no cash payments Make a reservation. Then go and enjoy.

Best menu item was the uni shooter. Also flagging no drinks only mocktails.
The omakase had good quality fish, however the texture of the rice was slightly off, just a touch too undercooked. The $50 omakase is just 6 pieces of nigiri served at the same time, making it no different than a regular sushi order, not like an omakase at all. Overall decent, but underwhelming. A better experience can be found elsewhere.
New restaurant and still working through their service model. Went on a Thursday night for the $50 omakase. Fish was fresh. Dish well present but chef did not tell us what each item was when plating to us. Please note it's BYOB, but they will charge you $20 corking fee, which they didn't tell us up front. Waited a while for the bill after meal was completed and further waited ~15 mins to pay the bill. Jackets and bags were on at this point.
Ok, so we made reservations at 8:30 on a tuesday night. First, there are multiple platforms they use for reservations but the platforms don’t seem to be connected? We used resy and requested a bar seating. But when we arrived we were informed that they used opentable for bar seating mainly, so we were placed at a table instead. Luckily for us, the two who reserved a bar seat on opentable wanted the table instead so we were offered their seats, which we gladly took. We had the 15 course, 85$ pp. It was underwhelming to say the least. Maybe our expectations were too high, but everything was mediocre. We got an extra appetizer, the scallop crudo which was $26. It was spicy and had 4 pieces it was good but not amazing. The miso soup was also okay, but it’s hard to mess up miso soup. Honestly, my friend and I were very hungry and it took 21 minutes for us to be served the first piece of fish and 3 minutes for the miso soup. Yes, I timed it. There was only one person on the floor and one chef so everything took longer than it had to be. Looking back, we should’ve just taken the table so we could’ve finished faster. The crispy tuna rice was delicious. Honestly, the best part of the course. The sea bream was okay, itayori was okay, everything was just okay. Nothing stood out. The panna cotta dessert was good though. Overall, everything was just sub-par. The service should’ve been better, the server and chef were nice but not great and slow. The food was okay, nothing special, like if I sliced it at home and put it over rice, it would’ve tasted the same. Cost us 125$ per person with tip.
I made a reservation after seeing the 'Girls Omakase Night' ad on Instagram, which was $65 per person. The atmosphere was nice, but we were the only customers, so it felt too quiet. The 10-course sushi meal was finished in about 40 minutes. The sushi didn’t feel fresh, and they kept replacing sushi on the same Geta (wooden plate) from previous servings, making it wet. They don’t have beverages and operate as BYOB only. The total for two people, including tip, was $165—not worth it overall.
