Great entry level omakase experience. The place wasn't busy when we went. I reckon you usually don't have to fight to get a spot there. Not super filling if you are a male but you're fine if you grab a boba and snack after. Great service though! Chefs and staff were very friendly.
The sushi was very high quality! A very well priced 17 course omakase at $125. The most notable pieces were the sweet shrimp with lemon zest and the salmon with torched salted tomato. The latter was a perfect fusion of flavor and texture that is sure to impress even the most avid omakase customers. The service was also great. They were very patient with us. They mentioned they had reservations at 7 and needed the space by then, but welcomed us as walk ins at 5:45 and did not make us feel rushed when we all arrived started an omakase around 6 pm.
Excellent omakase spot! Great value for what you’re getting. We got the 17 course omakase with a bottle of sake and everything was great. Chef was friendly and even asked for mine and my wife’s tolerance for wasabi (in case we wanted less). Loved our experience.
Wowowow! Jeffrey was absolutely amazing. The service was incredible and the food was to die for 🥹♥️ they do not play when it comes to high quality and amazing dishes here. Will be back!
Had an absolutely lovely omakase experience here. Every bite was an incredible dive in Japanese fine dining. The sushi was fresh and innovative. It ranged from melt in your mouth goodness to refreshing and airy. The sake was top knotch and the service excellent. Really great intimate time. Would come again. Highly recommend!
Really great omasake experience. Super fresh sushi pieces. chef Jeffrey is really knowledge to every pieces and welcome you with warm hospitality. the waiters are really polite and attention to detail. always notice the our needs befe we even have to ask. would recommend!!! and will be back in the future.
Sushi Lin is an excellent Omakase! Unique and high quality. Chef Jerry provided great service.
This was the best omakase experience I’ve had. We opted for the 12-course menu, and every dish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We even ordered a few extra favorites: - Tuna with truffle - Fatty toro tuna + uni + caviar + gold flakes (my favorite) - Scallop We paired it with cloudy nigori sake. The cozy setting made it feel intimate and exclusive. Service was fantastic—the chef was warm, welcoming, and happy to chat. Highly recommend this spot for top-quality omakase at a great value. Can’t wait to return!
From the moment I sat down at the sushi bar, I knew that this was going to be a unique dining experience. The chef greeted me warmly and asked if I had any dietary restrictions or preferences. We had the 17-course option. Lin was our chef of the day. Each course was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The fish and other ingredients are very fresh. Lin explained all the dishes as he served it, providing insight into the ingredients, flavor and technique used in its preparation. One of my favorite course was the salmon sushi topped with tomato. The melt in your mouth and the flavor of it incorporate very well with the salmon. The service throughout the courses are outstanding! Overall, it’s one of the best dining experience I have ever had.
Overall very good experience. You taste the freshness in every piece, and there is great creativity in a couple of the pieces as well. The king salmon with tomato on top was an interesting idea and very delicious. The service is friendly, and is definitely on the faster end as they do more seatings, but for the number of nigiris you get with the price, there is great value. The quality of food here does not lose to some of the Michelin-started sushi places in the city. Will be back.
This was an amazing sushi experience. Is it hard to find great affordable omokase in the city. The atmosphere of the restaurant made you feel so relax. The sushi chef Lin was nice and explained to us the different kinds of fish. Came with my friend and we were both pleasantly enjoyed all the food. A must for any sushi lover who are looking for great sushi experience and great quality fish. We will try the 17 course omakese next time:)
Absolutely amazing experience at Sushi Lin. The sushi were outstanding, the atmosphere warm and cozy, and the personal touch from the chef was so unexpected and special. A favorite in the city and I’ll definitely be back!
Came here to celebrate my birthday and it was such a nice experience. We had the 17 course omakase and the sushi fish was super fresh and well paired with interesting flavors. Our favorite was the one with tomato (that looked like bacon)! It was also super nice to talk to the chefs — they were great and recommended some other omakase spots around the globe. Thank you Jerry and Jeffrey!
I agree with the great reviews here. I think that there are a lot of good sushi restaurants that have great fish and excellent materials. This one stood out because of the interesting combination of flavors that they used on each individual piece. We got the 12 piece Omakase. Some of our favorites were the Hamachi with Shishido on top, the the fatty tuna, they had a piece of sushi with a fried tomato on top that was interesting, and the scallop had zest on top which added a complexity that I enjoyed.
Such a great experience! This was genuinely some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The presentation was absolutely beautiful. Fresh fish, beautiful combination of flavors and very nice service. I would definitely recommend this spot to others!!
Arrived on a Thursday evening for a birthday dinner. The service from the moment you enter to the second you leave was well thought out. The pieces that stood out to me the most were the uni, the toast with the caviar and tuna and the sweet shrimp. The chefs create a unique perspective of traditional omakase that adds their own twist and flavor to each bite sized sushi they put in front of you. It’s like sitting in the front row of NYFW, it keeps you on your toes! The pieces were on the smaller side, more rice or fish would both be appreciated. The service was very quick, but the chefs were able to execute efficiently.
I had nothing short of a phenomenal experience at Sushi Lin Soho. The mouthwatering ensemble of inspired dishes would leave you wondering which piece “exactly” is your favorite. High-quality sashimi and sea urchin, great vibe and affordable. Highly recommend!
Mori is one of those rare Manhattan sushi restaurants that understands discretion, discipline, and consistency—qualities that never go out of style. It is not a place for theatrics or trend-chasing, but rather for those who appreciate tradition executed with quiet confidence. The atmosphere is calm and refined, allowing the focus to remain on the food and the company. Service is polished and attentive without being intrusive, conducted with the kind of professionalism that makes one feel immediately at ease. The sushi is exceptional: impeccably fresh fish, expertly cut, and paired with rice that is balanced and precise. Each piece feels intentional, never excessive, and always respectful of the ingredients. There is a reassuring steadiness to the experience—nothing rushed, nothing overlooked. Mori is the sort of establishment one returns to for years, brings trusted friends to, and recommends sparingly. In a city crowded with sushi counters, it stands apart through its restraint and reliability. A true classic. Five stars, without hesitation.
Loved the dining experience here. The host kindly accommodated my seating request, and I got a seat right in front of the chef, watching him prepare each dish was such a treat. The appetizers were incredibly creative; my favorite was the oyster topped with yuzu foam. The pale pink color was a total delight 🌸🦪. Every appetizer was beautifully presented yet delicious. Light, refreshing, and very much their signature style. The nigiri were solid, and the 16-course menu was just the right amount to leave me comfortably full. The chef and servers were welcoming throughout, always checking in with warm smiles. Definitely worth trying.
Morí was a hands down a 10/10! From the moment you sit down you feel like you are sitting at a chef’s table! Seating is limited bc the only seating you have is surrounded by these amazing chefs! Shawn the owner who is present at all time was amazing who made the whole experience so warm and welcoming! If you are ever around west village make the reservation because is so worth it!! 🤤😋
Amazing Experience! Food courses are paced perfectly, not one dish was a miss and it progressively got better and better! Shawn took care of the entire party and complemented the meal well with the bottle of sake he brought out for us. My favorite was the black cod hand roll, the uni, and the ceviche. So delicious and would come back for sure! 10/10
Exceptional omakase experience from start to finish. Every course was beautifully prepared, incredibly fresh, and perfectly balanced. The chef’s attention to detail truly stood out, and the pacing made the meal feel special and intentional. Intimate atmosphere, attentive service, and unforgettable sushi. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!
My husband and I were staying in soho and wanted to do omakase! We have done a few times but this far surpassed our past experiences! The food was out standing, service was impeccable and the chefs were enjoyable! It’s a quaint space and we will make this a spot we frequent to our New York trips!
Absolutely epic omakase, some of the most inventive creations I've had in a tasting. Gorgeously presented each time with immaculate precision and detail. Chef Solomon was gracious and friendly, such a please to be served this otherworldly dishes. Enjoyed a nice crisp sake with the meal and I was incredibly satisfied at the end. Highly recommended if you're in NYC. They do 3 seatings a night, each lasting about 90 minutes or so. Chef's counter seating only, very intimate and special, in a dimly light modern venue that's slim but never felt crowded or tight.
Dining at Mori in New York was a truly memorable experience and easily one of the most refined omakase evenings I’ve had. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place takes its craft seriously — the atmosphere is calm, elegant, and perfectly set up for an intimate dinner where the focus is entirely on the food. The omakase menu was beautifully curated. Each course arrived with a balance of creativity and tradition. One of the first dishes, the kumamoto oyster dressed with a delicate sauce, was an immediate highlight — fresh, briny, and with just the right touch of citrus. The sashimi plate was equally impressive, featuring tuna belly, sea bass, and shrimp that practically melted in the mouth. Presentation here is an art form; every dish looked like it belonged in a gallery before you even picked up your chopsticks. The nigiri selection was outstanding. I especially loved the toro and the Hokkaido scallop with yuzu kosho — flavors that were clean yet full of depth. The hand rolls were another highlight; the crab with truffle aioli and potato crisps was both playful and decadent, while the uni with Kaluga caviar felt luxurious without being overwhelming. Service was impeccable. The chefs explained the courses with passion and precision, and the pacing of the meal was spot on — unhurried, but never dragging. Dessert, a caramel pumpkin crème with ginger crumble, was a light and elegant way to finish. Mori is not just dinner; it’s a complete dining journey. Yes, it’s pricey, but for the quality and artistry, it’s absolutely worth it. I’ll be returning whenever I’m in New York.
came here for a mini celebration with my partner and it was absolutely amazing—the truffle yellowtail, sake tataki, madai ceviche, miso black cod and the unagi with avocado puree were our favourites. super delectable palate and delicious combinations that were very unique and staff, Kennedy, was so helpful and sweet. the Sake flight was super smooth and delicious. 10/10 recommend!!!!
What an amazing experience! The chefs are interactive! The vibe is immaculate the food is amazing ( the hamachi is my favorite world wide ) the music is on point. I can’t stop raving about this place! We’re going to do all our birthdays here ! It’s a tad pricey but let’s be honest for the quality that comes out you’re getting a bargain !
Maybe the best Omakase I've had. A lovely intimate environment with so many amazing courses your head will spin. Every bite was unique and beautifully prepared and presented. The space is small but not cramped and the vibe is modern but also classic. The service is beyond five stars. Gabrielle treated us like we were guests at a private dinner party. Good selection of wine beer and sake. It's not cheap but worth every penny.
I really love Omakase and this was one of the best I've had! The food was not only full of unique and wonderful flavors, but each dish was beautifully and carefully presented. The fish was so fresh and buttery, it felt like we were back in Tokyo eating fresh catch from the fish market. The sake paired beautifully with the dishes, and I left feeling very full, but not bursting. Although this sultry joint is likely best for date nights, we braved taking our kids (8&10) to the 5:30 sitting and they LOVED everything about the experience. They were treated so kindly by all the staff and both ate every single bite. They were entertained the entire time watching the chefs putting the next dishes together. Very highly recommend!
Overall I think it was a good experience. The staff were great, the ambience was cozy. The food presentation was good. However I think that the supplements are overpowering the true taste of sashimi, sometime it was too salty sometimes it was too sour. For a meal in which the sashimi is the star i would like to taste the fish, not the supplements like the passion fruit. At $128 pp, I honestly expect more. I used to go to this other omakase place operated by a Japanese owner, that offers 15-17 courses for $70 and it was better in taste. They are simpler yet I do taste the fish instead of other ingredients. In conclusion, a bit overpriced for what was offered.
first time trying an omakase place in nyc! the food was nice, very flavorful but quite salty. i’m particularly impressed with the appetizers. felt very fulfilling after the 16 courses. the place was small, but good vibe and lightning. i wish there was more space between seats. the service was good, they were checking on us frequently and refilling water every 15-30 minutes. however, we weren’t able to interact with the chef because he was busy serving the customers. we hope to hear more about the dishes! overall a nice place, but maybe not 100% value for money. including tips, taxes and beverages will be around 160-170.
I really loved the 5 appetizers the chef started out with. The next 5 nigiris were just okay, tuna was a little on the fishier side. The next 5 handrolls were really good. It was a nice surprise since most omakases places usually only have one handroll at the end. Dessert was pretty mediocre. All in all not a bad meal but didn’t have too much wow factor.
An okay-omakase experience for the price. Most of the pieces’ flavors are overshadowed by the sauce and I don’t really taste the fish themselves. The tomato, scallion and garlic in several pieces added interesting notes. They charge a processing fee for credit card transactions, so be prepared.
The set was just mediocre. I have had much better omakase in the city at the same price point. The torched tomato course was the most special of them all. Decent experience but I was not overwhelmed by it. I likely will not return again.
I would be lying if I said I was disappointed. The atmosphere and layout of the dining area was not bad. No frills, no thrills, simple and clean, with warm ambient lighting. Service was good, but nothing to write home about. The food was very disappointing. Appetizers were pre-prepared, which in all the Omakase restaurants i’ve eaten, this was the first time. I arrived at 7:10 for a 7:30 dinner and most of the appetizers were already placed on the chefs table waiting to be served. The flavors were good, but out of balance in my opinion. The oyster and ceviche were tasteful, but the acidity was too much and threw the dishes off. The Otoro with caviar was good, but the toast was cold and had been sitting on a tray where the cups and plates were shelved for 45 minutes prior to being served. I mean c’mon… this is your signature dish. Nigiri was disappointing as well. ALL the fish was pre-cut and placed in a metal box. I have NEVER seen pre-prepared nigiri pieces at a restaurant charging $100+. I didn’t even see the fillets where the fish came from, they were all already sliced into nigiri portions. Who does that? The sushi rice was unremarkable and I wasn’t even sure if they used vinegar. The rice came directly from a rice cooker and seemed like just plain white rice. Hand rolls were good but nothing to write home about. The dessert was good but it’s literally an 1x1 inch bite, where the base pastry was too hard. Base was some sort of cookie with orange bits, and the candied sesame was a nice touch. TDLR: Food extremely underwhelming for price. Most of the food was prepared, pre-cut, and sitting out prior to service.
food: we got the 12 course omakase. our favorite was their signature piece (salmon tomato), so we ordered extra; but a different chef made it, and it wasn't as good (it was falling apart and there was a little bit of rice). this was our 2nd time at an omakase, so we're not too experienced. idt omakases are for us though... it's just not filling enough, and we're not as appreciative of sushi as we should be. service: staff was attentive, always refilling our water. they were able to accommodate us when we arrived earlier than our reservation since there was space. they also gave us a free slice of cheesecake for my early bday celebration (it was a bit frozen though)
