Found my new favorite NYC bar and can’t wait to stop by again. I was staying at The Beekman March 28-31 and was sort of disappointed to learn The Beekman had no NA beers at the bar or restaurant, only mock tails. I walked around Downtown, and looked for my very first NYC bar, The Patriot Bar or Bar Patriot or whatever near WTC. It was closed! As soon as I walked into Nassau Bar though on my way back to the hotel, I knew I found the spot. Haley was my bartender every night serving up Heineken 0.0s, and even showed genuine concern and was about to prevent me jumping off the wagon when I joked and ordered a Jack and Coke before saying I was kidding. She told me lots of Patriot Bar refugees frequent the bar, makes total sense. It was nice and chill during the day and got busy, but definitely not too busy during the weeknights I was in town. She and all the bartenders there are great and I trust them to keep me sober (last time I was in NYC 4 years ago was the last time I relapsed on alcohol… sober 3+ years now and Nassau Bar kept it going ODAAT). The owner was great too, letting us patrons bring out drinks outside while we had a smoke on the table outside. If I wanted to make friends I’d buy a pizza at Joes down the street and post up at that table with some drinks and smokes. Best bar ever. Thank you.

Cool spot, great service. Drinks are simple and there’s a jukebox to choose your own music. Melissa is the best bartender around, personable and attentive. Definitely recommended Nasu for a night out with friends.

This was one of most first jobs. I was 18! What a great, fun place to work! Customers are awesome! So much fun and very entertaining! I left and became a runway model! One day I will visit! I highly recommend it for reasonable beverages and great eye candy with class. Xo

Was in recently as we were doing the lower manhattan tours.... popped in twice that day, and had such a laugh on both occasions, girl serving was as funny but pure new york as it gets. I like this bar, the owner is always friendly and know lots of the regulars. When you are there you will notice. Good beers at a good price. Sometimes you may wish there were more bar stools but it still works out pretty well

First Time here and brought my partner from Hawaii and within minutes the owner greeted me and was very friendly and welcomed me. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with a friend and had an amazing time. Bar is huge and they had a few different games showing when i went. Jukebox is awesome and has old classics as well as new tunes. Bartender was so kind and attentive… drinks were great and so were the prices. I live in Brooklyn but it was well worth the train ride. I look forward to coming back here and I Would highly recommend this place.

I came here last night looking for a dive bar to feel comfortable and chill in. This is my first time in New York, and every single person I met at this bar including the owner are simply wonderful. The bartenders were just switching shifts, so I was able to interact with a few more over the course of the evening and they were all cheerful, kind, professional. I even unexpectedly needed to charge my phone and they allowed me to hand my phone to them to do that. Super helpful. Very reasonably priced drinks with a good selection of liquor. Jukebox, plenty of bathrooms, fun vibe and all sorts of wonderful people to be found at this bar. I hope to come back again!

After walking around the 911 memorial I was feeling down and needed a good dive bar to liven things up a bit. Luckily I found the Nassau Bar close by. I got there on Wednesday around 4pm. The place looks kinda small from the outside but surprisingly a long space on the inside with the bar running a good sixty or so feet. The place has a great ambiance and it’s one of those typically dimly lit dive bars with the juke box cranked up. The bar tender had a lot of energy and was grooving to the tunes with rhythmic gyrations and smiles. After a few beers and maybe more than a couple whiskeys, I left revitalized with a smile similar to that bartenders kind smile. With a newly found spring in my step it was onto the search for some of that legendary lower Manhattan pizza.

As far as dive bar goes this place is great! Decent selection of beers, lots of booze, and they take credit cards. Nice bartenders and usually good music on the jukebox.

Nice place to stop for a drink after work but the only issue I can see it’s only thing they never have soap in the men’s bathroom. Come on every time I go there there’s never soap I will appreciate if you guys put soap by the way this it’s the date 11/29/2021

Can't really describe with words but this whole in the wall is a dive bar worth visiting. Would suggest to go by yourself or with very small group seating is limited. Bartenders are friendly and beautiful. You lose track of time when your in there... Lol

This is a quiet dive bar which I visited at the end of a Saturday night. I got a Guinness and sat down at the bar to hang out on my own. It's a fine place in general.

Went there once before- the bartender was super nice and friendly. Great drinks. Went there again recently with a coworker and the bartender said that they were closed. At 6PM. On a Saturday. With three other patrons inside. Hours are very questionable.

This was the first time I saw a bar with ping pong tables! Totally cute and fun. We didn't actually try the food though. We just drank and played some ping pong.

Good dive, but the music is over-the-top loud - more like a club than a drink-by-yourself dive. Also, it's kind of a sports bar with the huge screens, but they're right at eye level, 5 feet from the bar so they can be a bit blinding and again, not really a bar to lose yourself in. It's a fine place that has a few confusing traits that leave you wondering where you are. Good for groups of bros to flirt with bartenders and scream at each other.

We were visiting from out of town and I googled dive bars. This place came up. It was really laid back and the service was awesome the drinks were absolutely the best. Nice pours. This is a must visit place. Everyone friendly! Make sure you ask for Vanessa she is one of the bartender's, you will not be disappointed!

A dimly lit and narrow small bar, with mostly seating just at the bar, this is a great spot for a welcoming drink. The staff are friendly and fun with the range of drinks being extensive. The atmosphere is great and I’ll be popping in next time I’m in the area.

Definition of a dive bar. Friendly service and rock bottom prices. It's pretty much what you'd expect. I would have reviewed with higher stars but honestly the toilet was buzzing! I would have expected to be able to lock or close the door behind me as a minimum. Although there was a poster saying 'please knock before entering" haha

I visited this place for a drink on a Friday afternoon. Place was like a church. I ask for the happy he menu, but not much of a choice, I asked for a Long Island ice tea and the waitress told me the price $25 , so I went with a wine. Bathroom has a lavatory for one hand only, and you have to pay for music on a jukebox. Classic bar. I won’t b coming back, but they won’t need me. Large clientele.

Used to be one of my favorite bars to visit after work when I worked near world trade center. It still is a decent bar HOWEVER prices have gone up on drinks and girls used to wear only bikinis / swimsuits but now they are fully clothed

They do refer you but the lawyer I was referred too don't know what she doing her name is rosemarie barnett stay away from her. She disrespectful, racist, and unprofessional. She yelling on the phone and refuse to listen to what her client need. But if you Spanish she might even do it for free for you. She need to be reported. Making us pay for thing that we don't have to. They sent the money back and she kept it for herself. Terrible at communicating. if you are not Spanish i suggested you stay away you Wil regret it. She told us not at call and don't email her. How are we paying all this money but we are confuse about what going on. We just want our paper and move on to someone else. She can keep the money since she seem like she need it. She must not have much client because she going crazy for a few dollar.

Pretty gross place. Weird atmosphere but the liquor is watered down to the point where I can’t taste my liquor. I know my alcohol. Can’t believe there are people who have been going there for years with watered down liquor. If you go here be wary of what you buy and stick to beer bottles since they can’t tamper with those... UPDATE: As you can see the owner replied to my review and my statement is true. I even made a statement about my alcohol not tasting right and the owner/manager (not sure) told the bartender to give me an extra shot free of charge. Clearly he knew it was watered down hence why he instructed the bartender to serve us more because we caught on. I gain nothing from lying and go there if you’d like, I’m just telling you my experience. The person I was with had Hennessy which was extremely light in color so that confirmed our theory. Also hitler also had a loyal following so that means nothing.

I’m a professor of women’s studies at a nearby university. My husband was in the city with our car and we decided to drop in here after a long day’s work before going home. We thought this was going to be a quaint spot. What I observed seemed completely off. I looked it up and it looks like it’s classified as a bikini bar. The bartenders wear midriffs and very short shorts. One had ‘daisy duke’ style jean shorts on and another tight spandex shorts. Far too revealing and uncomfortable for a bar. The place reminded me of my days as a PhD candidate, over 15 years ago. We did a two-year study examining the cause and effect of female bartenders in the service industry, across various types of establishments. The problem with these bikini bars is two-fold: There is a subtle ambiguity where the women legitimize it by convincing themselves that they work in a ‘regular’ bar. Or regular enough. And for customers, which are mainly male and was also the case here, they legitimize patronizing these establishments in a similar manner; they’re in a ‘regular’ bar and not in a go-go bar, and feel no guilt. Whether married or single. The women who work in these bars, over time, develop a loyalty to the managers and/or owners and it becomes similar to a cult. Where the owner is the cult of personality. There is a tendency for elements of Stockholm Syndrome to also be present, our studies found. After time, the women who work in these bars simply accept and normalize not only the behavior of the manager and owners, but also the behavior of the men who frequent them. The women begin to desensitize themselves to a point where they are relegated to this type of male-dominated environment, where words such as ‘baby’ and ‘sweetheart’ referring to them becomes the norm. This is a very SAFE PLACE for chauvinistic men.

This place is an absolute dump. Smelled like dirty mop water and ammonia when we showed up. I ordered drinks while we waited for other friends to arrive. When our sober friend ordered a water the bartender said it would be $6 and went on a rant about the landlord needing to pay for water so we did too. The final straw was when she threatened our sober friend, saying the manager was “watching the security cameras” and would be here in five minutes to kick us out if he didn’t order a drink. What a strange and awful experience - skip this place.

My boyfriend was with his friends a few weeks back and the bouncer put his hands on him, so my boyfriend had to take appropriate measures. I wanted to believe it for myself how he described it so me and a few of my girlfriends came in a few times to check the place out. Trashy, not what I'd call a cool dive bar. The owner hit on us and seems to do that with most female customers that aren't with guys - so be careful ladies, real creepy. And he hits on the bartenders. A few of them seem to be OK with him being handsy and saying inappropriate things to them, we saw and heard. Gross! And some of the faces in there were really young.

$16 for a well whiskey shot and a bottle of Coors. No thank you. It's not a dive bar with those prices, just an excuse to let the place look terrible. A new luxury building opened up across the street and they're clearly taking advantage. You'd think with those prices they could afford to put a lock on the bathroom door. The owner will say prices have gone up but this pricing just isn't happening at similar bars in NYC. I'll be going to those ones instead.

The bartenders here are super nice and awesome, but the owner is a jerk. After I had finished my second drink, he barked at me to to either order another one or get out. I’ve never been spoken like that in a bar before, and having worked in food service too, I would have never spoken to a customer like that either. Not coming back here again.

Use to go here back in 2018, prices were good and bartenders were friendly. Today I’m leaving Nassau Bar in bewilderment. $30 for a double of Maker’s Mark on the rocks. Their card reader wasn’t working so I had to use the ATM that charged me $3.50 to take out $40. I left a dollar tip because I don’t believe in not tipping servers. I spent $35 just to patronize this place for 5 minutes. I could’ve bought a bottle of Maker’s and still had money left over for a sandwich and a soda. This place made me sad. 😞

The woman who was bartending around 6pm on 5/31/24 was extremely rude. She kept ignoring us when there were barely any other customers at the bar. There are a bunch of other places around the area with great drinks and service. I read over others reviews and the owner blindly defends any false claim.this review isn’t feedback for the owner, but to warn people to stay away. Unless you love terrible service. No accountability.

Used to be a great real dive. Hot bartenders in bikinis slinging drinks, great happy hour deals, reasonable prices during normal hours, fun vibe, packed with local biz people during the afternoons & local residents at night... Now it's overpriced ($8 Bud??), dead, smells like toilet and cigarettes constantly, they NEVER play music (to try get ANYONE to dump money into the jukebox), I only ever see one bartender these days who's gruff & short with folks. It's not a fun place to hang out any more. I don't know if they think they've cornered the market since other nearby dives closed (Iron Horse, Raccoon, Patriot, etc) but I'd rather go to my local in Brooklyn than get gouged by them FiDi.

I go to a lot of dive bars - I get it they’re generally gritty - but wow the service here is exceptionally rude. Would not return. Edit: Look at my history, I have NEVER one starred a small business. My partner and I were dumbfounded by how poorly we were both treated and no, I’m not going to escalate matters in person by asking for a manager, especially when we’re the only customers there. She chose to act with enough hostility to get me to write a one star and it was earned.

This has to be the strangest bar in NYC. Me and my girlfriends used to come here last year. For a while, it was kinda fun in its own way. But when we came back to school last Fall we realized this isn’t a healthy environment. The owner is friendly but too friendly and would hit on us and tell inappropriate jokes. Most of the customers who go there have no clue how to talk to a woman. I go to school with some of the bartenders and you can imagine the stories they’ve told me. Some of the bartenders think this is the kind of place to help them get out of their shell. Putting yourself in a rough house doesn’t “prepare” you for life. The owner makes them dress a certain way and encourages them to smile, flirt, and accept their behavior. Maybe a bit more tip for them but a lot more money for him, overall.

Scammers dont go! We had to pay 8 dollar for 1 super small coke, which was 60% ice. Never paid this much in my life, don't recommend!

When I was in elementary school, my third grade teacher (god rest her soul) always made it a point to question everything. Whether it’s the beauty of nature, the meaning life, why the sky is blue, there’s always something to question and learn from. That all changed the moment I walked into this godforsaken sorry excuse of an establishment. Right when I walked through the doors, I was greeted by the horrid voice and attitude of the bartender. Not only did I have to pay for an overpriced beer and water, I was constantly threatened by “you better by something before the owner comes down”. This place killed the whatever childlike wonder and awe I had left. My advice? Spare yourself the agony and head to the nearest 7/11 for a beer you can enjoy without fear of reprisal. After all, drinking on the street is way more classier than this pitiful excuse for a bar.
