Felix in Soho isn't just a French bistro; it's a slice of Parisian life transplanted to downtown Manhattan. With its massive windows opening right onto the street, the atmosphere is a lively, people watching dream. It's chic, it's buzzing, and it's the perfect backdrop for some truly stellar French classics, specifically two dishes that prove this spot knows its way around quality ingredients: the Tartare and the Eggs Benedict.
I’ve been coming to this place with my friends for maybe six years every time I come here it’s incredible. My friend cried when he tried the mac & cheese for the first time. I usually get the steak and it’s perfectly cooked every time. Service is incredible as well.
I fully recommend this place. 🥰⚜️Went to this awesome restaurant today with some fellow researchers for the France vs. Netherlands game today for a needed break. We had the wrong time for our reservation, but we're able to finagle a way to still watch part of the game. If you go for an event, make sure to make a reservation and check the times for when you want to be there. Like most places in NYC who are playing sporting events, your reservation will last during the game time. The next round of reservation will be booked and they get packed but you can order from the bar; and if there is room, you may stand there or sit at the bar. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is perfect. Our waiters were attentive and kind. It was a very high energy time for the France game but the staff were excellent at maintaining the space and preventing over crowding but still allowing for a full and friendly experience. One aspect I really loved-- being from New Orleans and always seeking francophone experiences wherever I go-- was the community or patrons there. It is a special experience to see the families and customers who have been going there for decades. Even if not for a game, I wholly believe that a great meal will be had. For the game, we absolutely loved the idea of these enormous wine bottles and the absolute deft and graceful way the waiter was even able to pour it for a tasting before. Best ever. Definitely je t'aime, Fèlix!
Very friendly staff. And surprisingly the best Tarte Pommes I’ve had in a long time. Wish I had taken a photo for you all. But I would highly recommend it.
Felix was honestly a solid spot. The food was pretty good and so were the drinks. The highlights for me were the steak frites and the Aperol Spritz—both definitely worth ordering. That being said, the space felt a bit too cramped for my liking. If you're a single young woman looking to cross paths with your dream 6’5", blue-eyed finance bro, this is definitely the place to be—and to be seen. But since I already have my own 6’5", blue-eyed boyfriend, I felt slightly out of place. This isn’t your laid-back, cutesy brunch spot for catching up with a girlfriend. It’s more of a scene. I’d come back for a double date or to throw a birthday brunch, especially since the location is in the heart of SoHo.
Amazing location. Hard to beat the brunch atmosphere, especially when the weather is good and the doors are all opened. Super tight inside and usually loud (in a good way). The huge champagne bottles they have are something else and the owner often wears some hilarious shirts. You come here for the vibe but the food is good as well! (Side note: Felix features in a famous movie scene from “Big Daddy”. Adam Sandler asks a server if he and the kid can use their restroom and gets denied. The next part is famous, and it’s Felix where that scene is filmed!)
Fun place to brunch when it’s nice out but we did have to wait like 20 minutes to to be sat even with a reservation. They kind of threw a table on the corner for us in a spot behind a big party and we didn’t have our order taken for a while but it was busy. It’s a fun place to go with friends. We had a dog as well which was fine. Food was very good, especially loved the escargot
This is a great place for people watching even now during COVID. Street is busy with people. Service was friendly. Casual and laid back vibe with music in the background. Oysters were surprisingly good. East coast oysters. Mussels were just ok. A little overcooked. The steak was ok but seemed like it was cook over something before cleaning the grill. Just seemed like there was a flavor different than the meat. This is more for a good neighborhood soho restaurant for being in the “scene” but food was just okay. Wine was good. Bread was ok. Bottomless water :)
I was a bit concerned about this place due to the constant low ratings, but was pleasantly surprised. Food was decent, ambiance was good, service was good. Came for a friend’s birthday and it was crowded and lively. We all got lamb burgers and they were delicious. We got a couple appetizers including fried calamari, meze platter, hummus, falafel as well. Decent selection of wines.
The food was decent, but the waiter was rude. He could not split a simple bill from 4 guest in two. He demanded a tip of minimum 18% and claimed that was a requirement not an option. I was handed a terminal that had preloaded 3 options, 18%, 20% or 25%. When asking how I could enter a lower percentage (I was considering 15, which in my opinion is more than adequate for the service received), he took the terminal out of my hands and pressed the 18 button himself after I had inserted the card.
We booked for brunch on Sunday. The waiter was so rushing to accommodate any walk-in that they neglected to provide the basic service. They changed the orientation of our table halfway through our meal. They refused to take our appetizers order before the main and brough out the main before we were even done with our appetizers and tried to take our dish away. On top of that, the fries were old and fried in old oil. The steak was decent but didn't make up for all the other issues with the service.
Only takes Amex and cash! Food was pretty good - had the crab cake with tartare sauce entree, roast chicken main and steak. However, service could be better. Hard to flag down the waiter, and when you did, they didn’t even acknowledge you when taking down the order. Refill of water was slow and I had a couple of dirty plates.
🚨🚨🚨I ordered $50(sprite, fries, french toast) worth of food and got charged over $300. The server tapped my card multiple times pretending it was not working.....i think i was a victim of fraud. I contacted management... No action was taken. Will never go back. Please be careful when hanging out your credit card 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 someone is running a fraud in silence....
I would not recommend going to this restaurant. My friends and I experienced disrespectful and rude service. Throughout the evening, we ordered drinks and an appetizer from the menu. Several of us are observing Lent and therefore have specific limitations regarding when and how much we eat. When the waiter approached our table and asked if we would be ordering additional meals, we politely explained that we would not be ordering full entrées, as we had already purchased drinks and an appetizer. The waiter then told us that we “had to order something,” which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. Because of this, we decided to order salads for the table. However, when we informed him, he responded with, “That’s it?” and commented that it was “too healthy for a Friday night.” He then said, “Whatever, that’s fine,” and grabbed our menus in a noticeably rude manner. We were particularly disappointed by this interaction because the restaurant was not full, and there was no wait for tables. Unfortunately, this visit left us feeling disrespected despite being paying customers who had ordered both food and drinks. There should be additional training to the staff to ensure all guests are treated with professionalism and respect, regardless of what they choose to order.
If I could give this place a zero stars rating I would. We wasted our time, money, and energy coming here; if you’re reading this, do not come here. We had a reservation for 1:15 P. M. where we were seated at 1:07 (sounds nice right?) we didn’t get water or our order taken until 1:25 P. M. Food, which was good, came out fast (which is nice after waiting 18 minutes to even see our waiter) but the service was TERRIBLE. We were hungry after our food and wanted to order more… at 2 P. M. the waiter said we can’t order more food or drinks as we have a time limit to our table, which was never communicated to us when we sat down. The waiter asked us “you good???” when passing our table to a bigger group instead of stopping and asking how we were doing politely. The waiter also gave attitude and made us feel stupid after we asked what kind of pitchers they had (which wasn’t on the menu) and he had to verbally tell us which pitchers were offered (the horror, he was doing his job!). The place was packed to capacity and we were being bumped by people/waiters passing behind us. We were there for a total of a hour and hated every minute of it. Go somewhere better, don’t waste your time. (Ps there were two gnats/flys flying around us while we were eating, yummy!).
Félix may have charm and a prime Soho location, but unfortunately, the experience falls apart quickly after you sit down. Service was painfully slow, just one overwhelmed waiter trying to cover what looked like 10 tables. I ordered a beer that didn’t arrive until I was nearly finished with my meal, and only after reminding the server twice. As for the food, it was a letdown. The mussels were overcooked and gritty with sand. My wife’s chicken was dry and chewy. The frisée salad was passable, but the poached egg was overdone and the bacon tasted like it had been sitting for a while. The only highlight? The mini croque monsieur bites—nicely done with quality ham and cheese. To top it off, the restroom wasn’t clean, and the bartender gave me an unfriendly glare when I asked where it was. All in all, Félix looks the part, but the substance just isn’t there. Not recommended.
The establishment is clean. The music is very loud. And the tables are extremely close together. Might as well sit at one big community table. But I guess that’s nyc for you, am I right?! The server wasn’t nice. He was quite dry and when he wasn’t dry, he was rude. Maybe he thought it came off playfully, but I didn’t feel that. The food isn’t good. lol because no one’s plate looked really appetizing (as we walked to our table scoping out the place and food) we figured to all get the same thing that looked the most appetizing. Steak and fries because how could you mess up meat and potatoes? lol well this place did. The skirt steak was dry and rubbery and I asked for temp medium and my friends ordered medium rare. It was just tough, oddly enough. Crab balls. Save yourself and don’t get it. They tasted like some store bought frozen food aisle snack that someone would buy and eat on a desperate night. The “Asian” sauce that’s drizzled on top is awfully sweet. I think the best thing was the soda and French onion soup that smelled amazing as soon as the cheese topping was broken. Everything else. Bleh. Not worth it. Just loud and unseasoned.
