Visited Mr. Purple and really enjoyed the experience. The rooftop has amazing views of the city and a cool outdoor space that includes a swimming pool, which adds to the whole vibe. The atmosphere feels lively without being overwhelming. I was also pleasantly surprised that the drinks weren’t super expensive, and they actually tasted great. Definitely a nice spot to hang out, relax, and take in the skyline. Would recommend visiting during the summer to enjoy outdoor space!
Mr. Purple is a very nice and spacious rooftop restaurant and bar. I love the fact that they have a pool which was nice. My friend and I enjoyed ourselves at an event we attended here. I would definitely come back again.
Good music, good vibes, good views I like to go here every Saturday with my friends, My favorite place and The bartender here David F he so nice, lovely and makes delicious drinks. He's also very friendly and easy to talk to.
Perched atop the Hotel Indigo on the Lower East Side, Mr. Purple stands as one of New York City’s most stylish rooftop bars and nightlife destinations. The design is sleek and industrial-chic, with reclaimed wood, metal finishes, and loft-inspired décor that perfectly complements its downtown edge. Guests are immediately drawn to the sweeping skyline views, which stretch from Midtown’s iconic towers to the bridges over the East River, making it a quintessential spot for sunset cocktails. The venue features both intimate terraces and a lively main space, including a poolside deck that elevates its exclusivity. Music is curated through dynamic DJ sets, striking a balance between lounge sophistication and high-energy rhythms as the night progresses. Cocktails are crafted with precision, with signatures such as the bottled Moscow Mule and the tequila-based Mr. Purple being consistent favorites.
Went here for their new brunch experience last weekend and had a great time. Fun rooftop party vibes and a classic brunch menu Absolutely must get the Bagel with Lox featuring that beautiful tompkins square bagel and locally sourced smoked salmon. They have all the brunch cocktails or check out their perfect espresso martini. Great for a date or group brunch
I had an amazing experience dining here thanks to yogi! From the moment we were seated, he made us feel welcome and taken care of. His attentiveness, warm personality, and knowledge of the menu really stood out. Every recommendation he gave was spot-on, and he managed to balance professionalism with a genuine friendliness that made the evening even more enjoyable. Service like hers elevates the whole dining experience. You can tell he truly cares about his guests and takes pride in what he does. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends thanks to the outstanding service he provided!
ricky created an amazing experience for us when we visited this spot! it’s a gorgeous rooftop bar with comfortable seating, great views, good vibes, and stellar service (thanks to ricky). she made me the best lychee martini i’ve ever had and was happy to chat with us when we were at the bar. watching her work was amazing: i could see there were some regulars that had come back because she greeted them all by name, and she made new guests feel welcome. she was friendly, efficient, creative, and just simply knew what she was doing. it was a pleasure to visit with ricky and i’ll definitely be back whenever i’m back in town, hopefully on a night she’s working!
Very nice rooftop bar with sweeping views of the city. They have a great selection of beer, well drinks, and cocktails. Wonderful staff. I had such a fantastic experience with Ricky. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcome and taken care of. Her drink recommendations were spot‑on, the cocktails she made were awesome (make sure you try the lychee tini), and you could tell she's a pro. What stood out most was her personality — friendly, attentive, and effortlessly professional. Even when the bar got busy, she never missed a beat and made sure I was having a great time. It’s rare to find someone who can mix great drinks and create such a comfortable, enjoyable atmosphere. If you’re visiting Mr. Purple, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar. Ricky is a true gem and made the night unforgettable.
Mr. Purple is such a vibe. The views are incredible, the drinks are beautifully made, and the whole atmosphere feels like the perfect mix of stylish and chill. it just feels special without being stuffy. Huge shoutout to our server, Courtnee, who made the experience even better. She was attentive and genuinely fun — the kind of service that turns a great night into a memorable one. She had perfect recommendations and checked in just the right amount.
I was first introduced to Mr Purple by a friend visiting from LA but I didn’t accept the offer. I immediately regretted it when he sent photos of the view and shared his experience. Since then, I wanted to visit but didn’t want to go there alone.. Then my friends and I heard about the matinee disco party and we finally planned a night out there. Would you believe I ended up there alone because my friends went to another spot? I decided I was not leaving because the staff were very nice to me especially Ricky!!!!, and the drinks were amazing! They all ended up coming to Mr Purple that night… after they realized I was having more fun… and we’ve been there a second time since. If you ever feel like having a night out with friends.. or by yourself in a place where you are safe and welcomed with great service ..I highly recommend Mr Purple!! Ask for Ricky! She makes the best cocktails especially French 75!!
We had an absolutely amazing experience at Mr. Purple in New York. The rooftop views were unlike anything else, truly breathtaking. I also want to give a hugh shoutout to our wonderful server Courtnee. Thank you, Courtnee, for making our first visit so special and for recommending The Formula for our meal. The steak was cooked to perfection and literally melted in my mouth. Incredible food, outstanding service, and all delivered with a warm, genuine smile. I'm so happy we had such an unforgettable dining experience-thank you, Courtnee!
came in today for a drink with a girlfriend and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Wasn’t too busy or loud around 6pm. Drinks were good, and the views from the rooftop are beautiful! We enjoyed a special where you get a steak, fries and martini for $35 that our server Alma recommended and it was great. Will come again
I had the absolute best experience at Mr. Purple the other night! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was perfect. What really made my night, though, was the incredible service. My server, Elma, was beyond amazing. She knew the menu inside out and gave spot-on recommendations for drinks. Between the great vibes, top-tier drinks, and exceptional service, it will become my new go-to spot. If you go (and you should!), definitely ask for Elma, you’ll be in great hands!
I’ve been coming to Mr. Purple for months, and honestly, the place wouldn’t feel the same without Ricky. She’s not just an incredible bartender, she’s the reason the night hits differently. Ricky has this rare way of making you feel instantly welcome, remembered, and taken care of. Your drink is always perfect, the service never feels forced, and the energy she brings behind the bar is unmatched. You can tell she genuinely cares, and that kind of service is rare. The views are stunning, the vibe is iconic, but Ricky is the magic. She turns a great night into an unforgettable one. Once you’ve been served by her, you get it.Thank you Mr. Purple for having someone like Ricky behind the bar. She is truly one of a kind and the reason this place feels so special. Her energy, care, and attention to detail make every visit memorable. Places are made great by people like her, and you’re lucky to have her.
Came here on a weekday while visiting NYC was a bit quiet but Elma was my server and made my experience so amazing. Not only was she super personable but recommended some amazing drinks, she even invited me back for the summer when the rooftop is open. I ended up staying longer than expected ! Will definitely be back and bring some friends. Views were beautiful as well.
I loved my agua de Jamaica and breakfast burrito with bacon. I’m from Mexico so have a fairly high expectation and they were met. Incredible tortilla and the bacon and scrambled eggs were great especially with the rajas in there, no complaints from me, but that’s the only one I’ve tried.
Son Del North 177 Orchard St. New York, NY 10002 Pollo Asado Carne Asada Appearance: 8.9/10 Taste: 10/10 Located approximately 1.5 miles from the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian walkway is a Mexican spot specializing in Sonoran style burritos. Unlike traditional burritos, these do not include rice. Pollo Asado: This burrito was filled with grilled chicken and strips of poblano peppers. Also included is a cup of salsa verde, which gave it a nice kick. Carne Asada: This burrito may look small in size, but it was packed with protein and flavor. The employee unintentionally gave me green sauce instead of red sauce, but it was still finger lickin’ good. What really caught my eye on both burritos was the line of char marks from the grill. The dining section is limited, so I recommend taking the order to go. This location may be a hole in the wall, but its riceless burritos are superior. #sondelnorth #orchardstreet #OrchardSt #CarneAsada #polloasado #SonoranStyle #sonoranburritos #charmarks
When the scent of grilled meat hits you on Orchard St, resistance is futile. Walked into Son del North and came out with a carne asada burrito the size of a forearm. No tables, no chairs, no problem—real men eat burritos standing up like gladiators. 🔥🌯 Service? Fast. Price? Fair. Burrito? A high-quality heavyweight contender (though that sauce on the side lowkey stole the spotlight). If you’re prowling the Lower East Side and need a quick burrito fix, this spot is a solid move. Verdict: burrito craving—handled like a champ. 💪
Very good burrito. The carne asada has a great meat flavour. It’s just freakin delicious. It’s a big burrito, like a filling meal. Honestly a perfect size. The prices are reasonable. Not like cheapest meal around but $15 burrito. Small area to stand outside with a few tables. They’re really fast with making them. No gluten free options.
The steak burrito was pretty good — I definitely appreciate them being generous with the meat, but honestly, it was a bit too loaded. It ended up making the tortilla kinda soggy, and all I could really taste was the meat. A little more balance with the other fillings would’ve made it perfect! And the wait was too long for not having a line at all, we were the only ones there.
Finally, a burrito that doesn’t give you a food coma while still tasting delicious. The chicken and steak options were juicy and tender. The green sauce in the burrito is absolutely perfect. The hot sauce is outside the norm and not your typical green or red salsa. Refreshing to taste Mexican food done differently. Can’t wait to go back and try the other options.
It's a big bar with dancing space on the 15th floor. I was there to dance and see the rooftop, it was some free special that night. But that night it was raining so the rooftop was closed. I just saw vague skyline through the glass walls. Overall it was nice to dance, not crowded.
Mr. Purple was a lot of fun! The rooftop view of the city was immaculate, and they had a great selection of music as well. The drinks were solid, and I enjoyed the overall vibe of Mr. Purple as a whole. Would recommend!
The food was good! But I was not a fan of the drinks. The pornstar martini was more so a passionfruit mimosa, pure prosecco! It was so bubbly rather than smooth. Any good bar serves the prosecco on the side. Our waitress and all the staff were amazing though and the view is worth the $25 drinks. Great music as well. Just really bummed by the drink.
honestly really enjoyed the cauliflower chorizo and potato burrito. it was super flavorful and i added guacamole which gave it the creaminess. I also got it with a side of their green sauce n it hit!!! it was very filling too. wish all the little add ons weren’t so expensive but it was one of the best vegan/vegetarian burritos I’ve had in the city!! no seating inside btw it’s a good spot for grab and go.
TLDR: Solid and simple burritos, veg-friendly. Had the frijoles con queso burrito - was quite tasty, especially with the green sauce (which is a must). A bit on the greasy / buttery side, so eating a burrito alone might be too heavy (esp since no rice or lettuce / veggies) - imagine with more protein, would be even better. Will come back for the pollo asado.
The steak and chicken burrito were absolutely delicious. The steak had this amazing barbecued flavour and the chicken was so juicy and tender. I also loved the tortilla, which was soft but also had a good chew to it. Best burrito I’ve ever had swear to god. I will say though that the pickles are super spicy so be prepared, and I would skip on the tortilla chips and guac. Some chips were a little hard, and I think that the burrito is satisfying enough. Also the guac, while good, is nothing special.
A small place with no seating that specializes in burritos, which is a great love of mine in fast food in New York. The smell outside and the number of customers immediately drew me inside. I ordered and within a few minutes it arrived. The price was fair and the quality of the burrito was high. I gave it 4 stars because, as I said, I am a burrito lover and I have eaten better in New York, but it is definitely a cool place. The location is excellent. It is one of my favorite streets in New York and I will definitely visit this street again. To taste the other restaurants there, I received amazing recommendations. In summary: Amazing service, quality of products is noticeable as high quality (the sauce on the side was amazing but the content inside the burrito was a bit of a contrast, excellent location! Very fast service. If you are in the area and looking for a quick burrito, this is definitely an interesting place to taste.
This was our second visit to this property, both times at sunset, this time as hotel guests. The view is breathtaking, making it an ideal spot for sunset cocktails. However, regarding the food and cocktails, both are of low quality and do not meet our expectations. We had the worst Aperol Spritz we have had. Bartenders had no clue. Additionally, the bartender was arguing with a client over a card and tried to involve me in the discussion, which was very rude and inappropriate. We had one drink, enjoyed the fantastic view, and left. Many rooftop options, avoid this one.
Had high hopes after hearing so many rave reviews about son del north. Unfortunately we thought it was average at best. To start off, we ordered 3 burritos. The breakfast burrito, pollo asado, and frijoles con queso. We made the mistake of not checking our order before getting home and realized they forgot our frijoles con queso burrito. Huge bummer since that was the one I was most excited to try, but that’s on us for not checking. The tortilla itself on the burrito is great. Super soft and really fresh. That’s about the only thing we enjoyed. The pollo asado and breakfast burritos were fine. We’ve had better at other places in the area. The sauce is ok. I think overall it was just fine, nothing that really wowed us.
I left a review on a pick up order and also submitted a “Contact us” form on the website but never received a response so will put it below Hi Son del North team, I’ve been a loyal customer for a while now and have always loved your Carne Asada burrito—it’s been a go-to for both me and my partner countless times. However, my most recent order was honestly frustrating and disappointing. I paid extra for guacamole since you started charging for it, which I understand due to rising costs. But what I received was a burrito that was almost entirely meat. The beans, onions, cheese, and guacamole I paid extra for didn’t show up until the last few bites. It felt lazy and careless, and not at all what I expect from a place I’ve consistently supported. It’s one thing to charge extra for ingredients. It’s another to barely include them at all. It felt like the burrito was just slapped together with no thought to balance or consistency, and I’m honestly wondering if this decline in quality has something to do with your recent expansion (like the West Village location). If growth is coming at the cost of quality, that’s incredibly disappointing. I’m reaching out to request a refund or some form of compensation for this poorly made order. I really hope this was a one-off mistake, but right now, it doesn’t feel like the Son del North I’ve known and loved. Please let me know how this can be made right!
Son del North offers a decent burrito experience, though it has some highs and lows. The burritos themselves are average overall, with the meat being a bit tough, which detracts from the overall enjoyment. On the positive side, the beans and salsa are quite tasty and flavorful, adding a nice touch to the meal. Service is impressively fast, making it a good spot for a quick bite. However, it’s takeout-only, with no indoor seating and just two standing tables outside, so don't expect to dine in comfort. In summary, it's a solid option if you're looking for a quick burrito fix, but there’s room for improvement, especially with the meat quality.
Only good thing about this place is the bathroom attendant Ibrahim. Came in knowing it’s a club and drinks would be more expensive, but the tequila soda I paid over $20 for was extraordinarily weak. Having learned my lesson about ordering liquor from the place, I went back for a second round and asked if they had White Claw. Bartender hands me a Surfside (a little more than $11 for the can), and then PROCEEDS TO SIGN FOR ME, TIP FOR ME, AND TAKE THE HANDHELD AWAY before I can even touch it. This was an extremely quick movement, like he is very well practiced at signing and tipping for customers while they’re putting their cards away the moment they tap. I tipped 20% on my first round. I don’t know what the average tip at this business is or if a noticeable number of customers don’t tip, but frankly, that’s not my problem. You CANNOT sign and tip on a bill on a customer’s behalf. That is outrageously disrespectful, and probably illegal. Maybe he felt overwhelmed by his ~7 customers at his nightclub bar, but that does not excuse this. Truly appalling. I wonder how much money he steals from unknowing customers per month with this kind of behavior. Dude needs to be fired
I’ve been here a handful of times since it opened and it’s always been almost there but not quite right. Too much meat for my liking, not enough beans. Or, meat is too gristly and inedible. This time, my burrito had multiple pieces of raw meat. I wanted this to be my go-to burrito spot. I keep trying because I love Sonoran style tortillas and no rice, the flavors here are right (besides the salsa) and in general, NYC really lacks good burritos so there’s no better option. But, I’ve had enough. It’s just really not worth the expense when the outcome is always disappointing. I want this place to get it right. Get it together please!!!!
I’m so sorry but the bean is cheese burrito is simply not good. It is as thought the blended beans and cheese together so it’s just one mushy texture. The tortilla is underdone practically raw. The one saving grace is the green sauce but it could’ve use some heat. I’m sad I really wanted to like this place. I’m from Texas so maybe my expectations for Mexican are higher.
