Great quick little corner restaurant! The service was so fast and friendly! Didn't have to ask for refills, or extra napkins and when the food came out they even moved tables to give us a bit more room! Now the food and drink were so delicious for amazing prices! Happy Hour is 11:30 to 6:30 with $8 cocktails, $6 wine, and $5 beer and the cocktails were not watered-down either! The drinks were perfectly crafted and went down so smooth. Now onto the appetizers and entrees. Everything came out very quickly and was so flavorful! I did ask for the pork dish to be extra spicy and in my opinion it was not spicy. Maybe mild but for what I expect it was tame. Still full of flavor though! The roti was perfectly crisp and fluffy and the lettuce wraps were a great starter light refreshing, and the dips had the perfect combination of sweet, salty, peanut, and umami. Highly recommend this sit down joint if you're around the area!
Great lunch special and excellent Thai food. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Lunch includes an appetizer and main course with rice. Thai Basil is one of the best I’ve had. Fresh vegetables and add chicken for only $14.50. Delicious dumplings too. Friendly service in this cozy Upper West Side neighborhood restaurant.
Stopped in here around 4pm on a Thursday. The inside is cute, sunny. Service was very polite, we ordered a couple of cocktails off of their happy hour menu which were very good and poured generously into cute glasses. The thai iced coffee was also great. The food was delicious! I had the pad thai, which is my go-to when trying a new place. It was a large portion with plenty of flavor. The others at my table ordered the beef with basil, and the duck noodles. I tried a bit of both and they were good! Food presentation was nice, which I feel always adds extra points.
My friend and I met up for lunch and we decided to go for Thai food. The host and server are super friendly and very attentive! The food was very well seasoned and delicious. The location is nice and open with charming details throughout the restaurant.
UPDATED REVIEW 2024: While the food is still good and so is the service here. I will say that the lunch portion has been downsized a bit. I believe the prices have for the most part remained reasonable but don't expect to have the huge portions I described below. I still believe it's a good lunch spot and the lunch menu also includes an small appetizer. The drinks are good, my favorite is the Lychee Martini. Original Review 2019: I have come here twice already and I highly recommend it. The lunch specials are reasonably priced for the area and the portions are huge. A Pad Thai fried rice lunch special can feed two. It also comes with an complementary appetizer. Service ribris fast and friendly. And unlike other places where the suggested gratuity says 18% of the bill does not equal 18%, this place is on point. They also have outside seating. The desserts are a bit pricey but they look delicious. I have not tried them yet. Overall, good place to grab a filling and delicious lunch if you work or live in the area! Will be recommending this spot to people!
Came by for lunch on a whim while walking through UWS and was very happy with the decision. The team was very kind and polite, the menu had great selection, and the happy hour drink menu was a treat! I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and it was some of the best Pad Thai I ever had! They were very accommodating towards my request for a milder spice level. I got the Thai Breeze Cocktail and it was delicious! The ambiance was very chill and the music choice was fantastic. Overall a great experience leaving me full and satisfied! 10/10 would recommend!
Spice is the best Thai food in the Upper West Side, in my opinion. It’s always fresh, flavorful and delicious. Today was my first time dining in the restaurant. I usually order my lunch for delivery at work. To enjoy this food straight from kitchen to table was even better. Chicken pad Thai is my go to with a side order of spring rolls. Ordering a Thai iced tea is a must when dining at slice. It is so refreshing! I recommend Spice for their quality of food, value for your money and exceptional service.
Beautiful experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the ladies working there are darling and so sweet. I’m so glad I stopped by!
Amazing food. Homemade Chicken Dumplings and Chiang Mai Soup. Will be back again, and again.
If you are in the mood for Thai this is the place for you. My Pad Thai was delicious and fresh. Be sure to come for the lunch special to receive the complimentary appetizers. I also enjoyed the Thai iced tea. I would visit again when in the area.
Great atmosphere and fantastic restaurant! Enjoyed the Black Noodles with chicken. Delicious!
We came in for lunch and ordered the Aged porkshop, porkbelly curry and the half crispy duck and it was spectacular! Definitely Recommend!
Enjoyed this Thai place, I typically don't like Thai food, and prefer Japanese /korean/ Chinese flavors. Friend got drunk noodles dish with chicken and she liked it, calamari was fresh, alot of small tiny pieces which is unfortunate. I was able to eat the bigger fried portions of calamari. My entree was shrimp with veggies and white rice for 16$ total. It was very good. I would come back for entree dishes ! Good customer service, glass of water refilled and waiter frequently checked on us. Overall great experience and no complaints with food.
Best Thai food spot on the upper west side! The lunch menu is incredibly well priced and their specials are delicious! Highly recommend. The salmon teriyaki is one of my favorite dishes. They also have outdoor seating and beautiful decor. The staff is very friendly the restaurant does not disappoint.
Great food. You need to pay attention to how spicy the food is as in Thialand what they consider as mild will be very hot here.
We ordered a take-out meal and changed our mind once we arrived. Anna went out of her way to put everything nicely on a table and wait on us. Also, food was very good and surprisingly much (the photo shows a standard menu for two people). Thanks, Anna!
The food was delicious and came out fast. We were so hungry we didn’t snap better pics but these are proof how good everything was including the drinks. The server greeted us and immediately sat us down. The space was super cute and intimate.
I have been going to Spice Thai on east side for many years and it is with great pleasure the west side location is amazing with equally great service and food highly recommend a visit especially for the drinks
Lovely Thai place. They are very friendly and the food is delicious. Also nice drinks. I love this place
Everything 10/10 The pomegranate Mojito is to DIE for, so good!!!
Chicken pad thai - it was remarkable! It was well seasoned, big chunks of chicken and small slices of tofu. Loved the peanuts and sprouts. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.
I love this place! The food is so delicious, and always well priced and good portions. Definitely one of my UWS go-tos for a fantastic meal. And great vegetarian options.
Great food, amazing staff, great ambience. Definitely recommend this Thai gem in New York. ♥️
A sure bet! This UWS neighborhood Thai restaurant is a solid bet for delicious Thai food, fast service, and all at a great price. I’ve been frequenting this place for many years and am always pleased.
Randomly decided to come here while on vacation with my family and it was sooo good! The place is adorable and clean, the server was sweet and the food was absolutely delicious and affordable!
Delicious!!! The fried chicken with curry fried rice is everything!! Amazing Khao Soy.
Really nice lunch and drink options. Lunch specials for two people only costed around $25~, which included two apps and a main course.
The food was delicious and they made it super fast. Service is great. Friendly and professional
Great and tasty dishes. I asked that the chicken curry should come spicy and it really did! Others asked for more flavorful dishes but not so spicy, like the half chicken, and the got it all. There were some seats available for the early dinner time, with no need of reservation. People was friendly and made our evening a pleasurable dining experience. Reasonably priced.
My experience was great! The zucchini pad Thai noodles (made it spicy) were delicious! My boyfriend had the lemon grass chicken he loved it! The coconut Sticky rice was amazing! Service was excellent 😊
I’ve been coming to this place for years and it’s always been consistently good. And now they have a varied vegan menu as well, which I’ve never seen at any Thai restaurant. They have all of the classics – the noodle dishes, the curries, papaya salad – in a tasty vegan version. This is the best neighborhood go-to Thai spot.
The Penang curry was wonderful. On a previous visit, I had the massaging curry, which was also good. What I liked most were the curry puffs. These were the best curry puffs I've ever had, and I've had some really good ones in Singapore and Malaysia. The service was really good as well. My daughter and I had the lunch special, which includes a select entree and free appetizer.
I had lunch with a group of 5, we ordered the appetizer platter and 5 different main menu dishes, including the comfort soup, the fried rice with shrimps, red curry, and some others which name i can't remember. Everything was deliciously, except for the fried rice, which was very moist and oily and was missing spice. I highly recommend the red curry. The atmosphere and service were outstanding.
Lovely and inviting place that drew me and my Thai food loving daughters in! They helped me select a less spicy option while they selected the more potent fare! Loved the "taco" appetizers, especially 😋
A small Thai place in Upper West Side. Food is flavorful but not overly spicy. The Zucchini Pad Thai was delicious. They carry a decent selection of wines and spirits. Service is attentive and allowed us to take our time with ordering. They have outside seating which was nice on a warm day. There were some seats available for the early dinner time. Overall a good experience.
Spice is my go to place for decent Thai food in the neighborhood. Reasonably priced and not too spicy for my palate. One of the things I like to do here is order multiple appetizers like a Thai version of dim sum/tapas. One of the things I love about the dumplings is the fact that the skin is nice and thin. Seems to be true of most Thai restaurants in NYC, but sadly not true of most Chinese restaurants in NYC. I've never asked what the grey sticks are in the Jade Seafood Dumplings dish, but love just eating them alone! The curry puffs are also one of my favourites, though I'd recommend eating them last so that they have time to cool down. 10-15 minutes later they're still hot. The restaurant also has a nice selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Much more interesting than the sodas/fruit juices that restaurants foist on people that can't or don't drink alcohol.
Food was good, though not spicy (even when it says spicy). Flavorful yes.
Service was good and the food was ok. I ordered the half chicken dish and the chicken was crispy on the outside but quite dry inside. However, the curry rice that comes with it is not bad
The food is very good. The service is quick. We had crab fried rice and drunk man noodles.
Great service, atmosphere, cleanliness, and everything—except for the flavor. It wasn’t spicy at all and the usual Thai flavors got lost. It was kind of plain. It left me still craving that strong Thai flavor instead of just kind of bland tones. Everything else was very good. I might come back.
This was my first time eating here and I enjoyed it. The Watermelon cooler was delicious and refreshing. The appetizer sampler was very tasty. The lemon grass chicken was good but needed a bit more flavor for me. I will definitely go again and try a different dish.
My family and I recently dined at Spice, and it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I ordered the drunken noodles, and while the flavors were on point, I found the dish a bit too soggy for my liking. The texture didn't quite match my expectations, and I prefer a firmer consistency in my noodle dishes. On a brighter note, I also tried the Massaman Curry, and while it was tasty, I personally wished it had a bit more coconut flavor. The richness of coconut is something I look forward to in a Massaman Curry, and I felt it was a bit subdued in this particular dish. Service at Spice was definitely a highlight - fast and friendly. The staff was attentive and ready to assist with any requests or questions we had. It contributed positively to the overall dining experience. The decor of the restaurant is charming and cute. It creates a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, making it an enjoyable place to dine with family. The ambiance definitely adds to the overall appeal of Spice.
The food was pretty good (i had thai basil eggplant with mock duck), I thought it was a little pricey but the portions are very reasonable.
The service was very friendly and fast. The food was good but there are other better Thai place to go to. They accept credit cards here and have very clean bathrooms. I'd return to this place if I was in the neighborhood.
Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around the Upper West Side. This was unfortunately a disappointing experience. The quality of the food was definitely lacking as some items were not fresh, undercooked/overcooked. The dumplings we had wanted to order were not available so we decided to go with the shredded pork buns instead. The filling itself was tasty, albeit for the odd placement of cucumbers, but the buns were not fresh and likely previously frozen. For entrees, we order the spicy cashew nut and stir fried noodles. The spicy cashew nut dish was served in this cute fried rice cracker shell but it was most definitely not spicy. The predominant flavor was of canned tomatoes which was less than pleasant. The noodles which didn't have the most appetizing flavor was either undercooked or overcooked (we were unclear which) with the veggie hard and undercooked. This dish seemed to have resulted in potential food poisoning for my partner. We finished our food because we were so hungry but we will not be coming here again.
I’ve been going here for a while, and after coming back recently, it feels like the place backslid a fair bit. A friend of mine ordered the green curry w/ seafood and there was green dye on the mussels. The thai dumplings were good (I really like thai dumplings) but the special I got rly felt microwaved and one note. Unfortunate
Usually come here for their happy hour. It’s usually empty so I just sit down. Today the host was being very rude and told me to wait in a rude tone and I just walked out. There Shrimp also made me throw up not even joking. Drinks are good though
We ordered a few dishes there, but they were no as good as expected. We order a lot of pad thai dishes before, and the pad Thai from Spice was way below the average in my own opinion. The seafood dish was too salty, and it did not look nice to us. The seafood was way over cooked that it tasted very dry too. I don’t think I will return there.
It’s a shame the service is poor because the food is actually nice. We live just across the street from this restaurant and we order take out on a regular basis. Today we got home and we had a missing item, I called the restaurant, expecting them to apologize and offer to deliver the missing item. They said « we will refund you bye-bye » The employee I had on the phone was just making fun of me, not caring about good customer service. There are plenty of Thai restaurant, I advise you to chose another one.
Mostly Pretty gross. Dumplings were like dried mashed Lima beans. Chicken was so dry I couldn’t eat it—fed it to my dog who seemed to enjoy it. Papaya salad was like a limp, wet soup. Textures on others were nasty. I’d think a restaurant owner would be embarrassed to send this food out. Hard pass.
