I had an amazing time at Mastro’s Steakhouse. Edwin the bartender had an incredible vibe, provided excellent customer service, and made the best drinks. Quinnell the manager was welcoming and attentive, and her recommendations were perfect. It is refreshing when management truly understands guest preferences. Wanda the bathroom attendant was full of hospitality and even took a beautiful picture for me. The atmosphere was upscale and vibrant, the live musicians were great, and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
What a great spot for a memorable dinner. The location is perfect, especially if you’re catching a show nearby. The food and wine were excellent from start to finish. The bone marrow was a standout — unique, rich, and incredibly flavorful. The wet-aged steak had a distinctive depth of flavor and was cooked perfectly. And don’t skip the butter cake — it was absolutely outstanding. We’ll definitely be back.
Visited for my husband’s birthday and it was truly a wonderful night. Every single staff member we interacted from the front of the house to the back was more than helpful and welcoming to us. Big shoutout to Ms. Q and Tim for their conversation and attentiveness. Now the food?? 10/10 steaks were buttery and cooked to perfection!!! The sides were delicious and the portions were super healthy!! That lobster Mac and cheese had one of the craziest cheese pulls I’ve had in a mac. The warm butter cake is now my all time favorite dessert so good! Will definitely be returning and you should already be booking your res to visit also!
In midtown Manhattan, Mastro's Steakhouse is a fine dining institution that is nicely tucked away. Reservations are recommended as this is a popular venue for celebratory events like birthdays, engagements, and graduations. The overall impression is of beautifully decorated surroundings with a dinner service that is dimly lit. The front of house is impeccable and the majority of the menu items were delicious. The ribeye was tender and flavorful. Their handcrafted cocktails and preferred wine list complement each other well. We would like to express our gratitude to our server Ronnie and the newly hired manager Quinnell.
I visited Mastro’s Steakhouse to celebrate my birthday, and the experience was amazing! Our server, Jason, was excellent, kind, patient, and very attentive. He took the time to explain everything on the menu clearly and made sure my drink was always filled without me having to ask. His service truly made the evening special. I’ll definitely be returning for the outstanding hospitality and wonderful atmosphere.
Exceptional service from start to finish. Professional, personable, and highly skilled. The drinks were expertly made, and their attention to detail truly stood out. A standout experience. He gave amazing recommendations & me & my guest enjoyed it. THANKS EDWIN !
Overall, a very a good experience at Mastro’s. We went on a Saturday so the place was buzzing. They even had live music which was nice. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed everything they put in front of us especially the king crab fried rice. The staff were really nice and overall i would recommend this place.
This was soooooo good. Service was 10/10. I had a filet that I swear the lord him self made just for me. My margarita was perfect. They had live music and it was a nice touch. Over all this was a 10/10 experience. Date night in nyc
We booked our Christmas Lunch at Mastro’s Restaurant. The food was great, chef’s ribeye not to miss along with the garlic mashed potatoes but if you want to top up your experience with a great service you will be lucky if Ronnie is taking care of your table. A big THANKS for a great afternoon.
Came here with the fam for the birthday! Everyone here was avery nice, helpful with the menu. Service was great, fast, and friendly. Helped with a few questions I had on the menu. The steak was really good, the bread variety was pretty cool. Everyone was great and looking forward to coming back!
The shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, lobster mac n cheese, 6oz filet, brussel sprouts, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate cake were phenomenal! Excellent service and very romantic restaurant.
Hosted a group of 20 in the Executive Room. Danielle from their team was easy to coordinate and work with during the planning phase and Tim our head waiter was excellent on the night of and made it a great guest experience. Gregory the General Manager also welcomed us for the evening as well. Ambiance, food, and service from start to finish were all A+. Would highly recommend whether a party of 2 or larger group.
We had a great time and meal at this restaurant. We were pleasantly greeted by the hosts and we were at a table within five minutes. The staff was very professional, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this establishment without any reservations.
🎉 Celebrated my fiancé’s 37th birthday at Mastro’s Steakhouse last night, and WOW… what an experience! 🥩✨ From start to finish, our server Tiffany was AMAZING. 🙌 She made the night feel so special, attentive, friendly, and absolutely on top of everything. Drinks? ✅ Perfect. Food recommendations? ✅ Nailed it. Birthday vibes? ✅ She made it unforgettable. The steaks were melt-in-your-mouth perfection, sides were delicious, and the seafood? So fresh. Add in the live music and that upscale NYC steakhouse ambiance… honestly, it doesn’t get better than this. 🎶🥂 If you’re looking for incredible food and service that goes above and beyond, go to Mastro’s — and ask for Tiffany. Trust me, she’s the real MVP of the night! 💫
Love their burgers! I usually just get a plain cheeseburger with grilled onions, fries and a lemonade. They have a lot of burger combos to choose from - beef and bison. The food and the service are excellent every time I’ve been there.
Had a late lunch at Ted’s Montana Grill and it was fantastic. We sat at the bar and were served by Tim, who was incredibly kind and attentive, truly one of the best servers we’ve had. My partner and I shared the duo bison and beef burgers, and they were delicious with hearty portions. We’re not from NYC, but thanks to Tim and the great food, Ted’s is now on our list of must-visit spots.
We constantly have great service and the food & drinks never disappoint! The best restaurant in the area, happy hour is great and dinner is always delicious. We’ve been going to Ted’s for years now and absolutely love it. (Kasey is so fun and such a great bartender and Kara has amazing service and is always personable!) 10/10 would recommend to anyone!!!
We enjoyed lunch before seeing Hugh Jackman at Radio City Music Hall. Stefano was a very attentive and friendly waiter. I had the Balsamic Blue Steak Salad with Bison and it was super tasty. Just the right amount of balsamic dressing to not totally drench the salad, loved the bacon bites in it too. My husband had the open-faced steak sandwich, also with bison, and enjoyed it as well.
First visit to New York and we craved for some good steaks. Googled for beat steaks around me and picked Ted's Montana Grill after reading the reviews. True to the early reviewers, the food didn't disappoint. The ambience was cosy and service was excellent. The server checked on our needs and was attentive. The steak was perfect to our liking and the onion rings is a must-try. The burger and salad are awesome and my son said that that is the short ribs he has ever tasted. Love it here.
Stopped here after a show for a quick bite and so glad we did. Our waitress - Raven, was super friendly and so professional. She could tell you anything about the menu and made us feel relaxed and welcomed. So this place is a steakhouse, but they offer burgers, seafood and bison options for your beef protein. I choose, Ted's Bacon Cheeseburger and as you will see from the photos it is as good as it looks! My better half choose a little lighter opting for the Delicious Duo - two 3oz burgers that were...you guessed it - Delicious! The Salt & Pepper Onion Rings are a must! Lightly battered and fried to perfection. A definite stop for us next time we're in town.
Mastro's New York: High Expectations Met Fairly Well (Reservation Essential) Let me start by saying that a reservation is highly recommended at Mastro's, and for good reason. The ambiance is super nice, super busy with live music and almost full to the brim on a weekday dinner. My experience was a mix of genuinely stellar moments and a few areas where my high expectations fell slightly short, ultimately leading me to feel they fared fairly well and deserve a second chance. The appetizers set an incredibly high bar. The Lobster Bisque Soup was everything you want it to be: creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor. The Crab Cake was another true gem—flaky, moist, and wonderfully seasoned. Our server, Torrell, was excellent—attentive and highly personable. However, my only service critique is that the starter recommendations, particularly the infamous Mastro's Bakon, felt a little too pushed, resulting in an overload of food for a single diner. The Bakon itself was decent but not fancy; it was overly sauced and a bit too salty, though I did enjoy that signature crispy outer crunch. The Bone-In Rib Eye (Medium) was the biggest point of observation. While certainly flavorful, the taste felt derived more from the heavy marinade and charring than the quality of the beef itself, which is what I personally prefer. The char was, at points, inedibly excessive, masking and slightly ruining the true steak flavor. What saved the main course was the incredible side: the Lobster Mashed Potatoes. They were the absolute star of the show, indulgent and unforgettable. A constructive suggestion: Mastro's must introduce single-person serving sizes for some of their magnificent sides to better accommodate solo diners. I still had a great overall experience and will definitely give them another chance next time I’m in NY or DC.
Great ambiance, friendly hosts and staff. Big portions. Steak is ok. Gets busy. Live performances by a duet with keys. Bar staff not attentive as they should. It’s ok as they were busy. Bar gets very busy so finding seats is difficult on weekends.
My wife, daughter, and I stopped at Ted’s Montana Grill for a quick bite during our trip to New York, and it turned out to be a great decision. My daughter ordered a burger and fries, which she really enjoyed. My wife and I shared the bone-in bison ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection, tender, flavorful, and exactly what we hoped for. We paired it with the Parmesan broccoli and the bacon Brussels sprouts, both of which were excellent. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely go back again.
Nice atmosphere. Decent food and interesting choices for bison. Kale salad was delicious. Very fresh crunchy kale bit absolutely no hint of jalapeño. Bison short ribs were tender and very flavorful. Not really sure what bison should taste like but these were very good. Mashed potatoes are a lumpy mash which is fine but I think important to mention. Carrots were al dente in a good way. Dirty martini was very good. Chilled glass, perfect amount of brine and blue cheese stuffed olives. Food came out very fast but otherwise was an enjoyable meal.
I don’t normally share an experience that was disappointing; however, because this restaurant is considered one of my favorite places - I’m concerned that yesterday may have changed my perception. I’ll start with the cons: 1. It took some time to receive our food - I’m not sure if it was because we were a party of nine; however, it was a good wait. 2. When the food arrived, the plates were lukewarm at best. I wished my plate was hot like it has been several times before. The manager did apologize for that. 3. The servers started sharing my sides with the whole table. I was left with a corner of my sides, even though I specifically asked to not share since I wanted to take it to go. Our server for the evening apologized and brought one of the sides back out to me. I didn’t receive the other one. 4. The food was underwhelming based on seasoning/taste and undercooked based on the temperature - it was not memorable like the other times I’ve visited. My sister, who was celebrating her birthday yesterday had to ask the kitchen to cook her steak to medium well. They took the steak back in and it was cooked slightly; it was not to her liking. The food was bland; not as seasoned and felt grainy as well. I don’t know what had happened there. We told the manager and she gave my sister a free dessert for her birthday. The pros: 1. I love that this restaurant accommodates people to enjoy a fine dining experience. It was nice to see a younger crowd of people enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. 2. The live music is always a fantastic experience here. I walked in and heard a person request “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals - I love that! 3. Even though the food was underwhelming, I believe that the service provided is amazing. You don’t have to lay a finger on mostly anything; everything is served with professionalism from the serving staff. 4. It’s located in the heart of Manhattan; such a beautiful place to be in especially in the holidays. Overall, I think this experience could have been better based on the bill: $1,251. That was $165 per person. I hope this review supports the restaurant in understanding what could be adjusted moving forward.
Had reservations at 7 on a Saturday and we were seated promptly. The hostess split a 4 top and went to seat us next to another couple. I asked if we could have the table one away instead to which she rolled her eyes and said "we're really busy tonight." Ok, fine, not gonna protest. Throughout the night the restaurant cleared out, and nobody was seated at the table next to us. Our server was kind and attentive. I went to order the regular bison ribeye, and he recommended the bone in dry-aged steak at $71. It wasn't much more, and sounded appealing, so I went for it. I ordered the kale salad for one of my sides and asked to have it come out first. I immediately regretted the decision. The salad was dry, tough, and about as appealing as the garnish at a Pizza Hut salad bar. If you're going to serve kale, it needs to be massaged and well dressed, otherwise just take this off the menu. I had to ask for a different side after 2 bites. Went for the onion rings instead and those were very good. The mashed potatoes were also quite tasty. The steak was fine. I've been to Ted's several times in other states, and this location did not meet the bar set by others in terms of quality of steak. It wasn't bad, but lacked the flavor I look for in bison, didn't have much seasoning, and left me disappointed for the price. The cooking temp was medium as requested, but I like more char than this offered. It appeared to have been cooked in a broiler with minimal flame exposure. It was also much thinner than I expected. 1/2 a small bone and a half inch or less. All that said, there's plenty of other good steakhouses in this area. I still like Ted's as a chain, but can't recommend this location.
Bison short ribs were cooked perfectly and tender. I chose the default sides to keep it simple. I had their mashed potatoes before but this time they lacked any garlic for them to be garlic mashed potatoes. Onion rings are always good and no complaints there! Next time I’ll dine in but skip the mashed potatoes from this location. Update 11/12/2025 : Came back after a long day of traveling and work to pick up my dinner order I placed via their website. Walked in, there was some sort of meeting at the front hostess stand so I wasn't greeted upon entering. No biggie I'm patient, asked about the pick up order and was directed to the bar. It's happy hour and the bar area is crowded, not the restaurant area we're there's table sitting. So why do you have the bar tenders handling pickup orders when the hostess staff was literally doing nothing? Instead of being treated as a customer picking up my own food I was treated as a door dash delivery driver and being dismissed. Very different experience compared to my 1st visit to this location.
We came for dinner, mainly intending to have steak. We ordered the bison steak, and we can say it was just okay. It wasn’t exceptionally delicious, to be honest. Just an average steak—not a dish that lives up to the reputation of the place. We had tried the burger before, and it was good, but we wouldn’t recommend this place for steak. The table didn’t feel very clean to me. Price is very high. However, the waiter was attentive, and we appreciate that.
I feel like I write this a lot but my only complaint was the staff. The food here was spectacular and the glasses were frosted for our beers. Burgers cooked to order and we're perfect. There were literally 2 other families in the establishment and we were constantly wondering where/what our server was doing as she wasn't the one who delivered our food and she was never around to refill our drinks. We hope she's okay! Had to ask another server to get the check for us as we waited 10-20 minutes AFTER we finished the last bite of ours meals to get someone's attention. Service is incredibly important to get a good score in review!
Food (3/5): The char on my steak was excellent, but it came out more medium than the medium-rare I ordered. Not bad enough to return, but definitely below the Mastro’s standard. The sushi, however, was flat-out terrible — I would strongly suggest no one orders it. Service (1/5): Unfortunately, this was the weakest part of the experience. Our server, Julian, had a bit of an attitude and didn’t make much of an effort to accommodate us. The restaurant was very loud, yet instead of adjusting for that, I actually found myself standing up to catch what he was saying. On top of that, my fork was dirty when it was set on the table — not what I’d expect from a restaurant of this level. The one bright spot was the bell staff, who were excellent and ended up providing more attentive service than Julian. Ambiance: Typical Mastro’s look and feel, but tables were tightly packed and the noise level was so high we had to raise our voices to talk. Overall: The steak had good flavor, but between the disappointing sushi, subpar service (dirty silverware included), and a cramped, overly loud atmosphere, this location falls well short of other Mastro’s I’ve visited.
Came here with co-workers for dinner on a Thursday night recently, and was soooo disappointed. I’d selected this restaurant for the group based on availability, and the positive Google reviews, and felt truly embarrassed. From the non-customer service to the meh food, I would give this place 1 star but the onion rings were actually pretty good and raised the bar to 2 stars. If you’re reading this review, take this as a sign to jog on and patron another Midtown restaurant.
This is my third time coming to this steakhouse, so I decided to come the day after Valentine’s Day. I was expecting an amazing romantic dinner, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The restaurant food Quality really let me down. When our food arrived, my steak was Way undercook and I Ordered medium Bone in ribeye for $91 . The mashed potatoes , Brussels sprouts was lukewarm and tasted bland , like they had been sitting out for hours. The lobster mac & cheese only has like four pieces of lobster in it. Our server seemed overwhelmed As expected the day after Valentine’s Day, so which I didn’t mind. To make things worse, My girlfriend‘s lamb chop’s for $80 was super undercooked. For such an expensive Valentine’s Day dinner, the overall experience was not worth it at all. I tried reaching out to the restaurant and they just kept giving me the run around. The general manager said he spoke to me, which is a lie. I never spoke to him ever. This remind me of the horrible experience, I had over at STK steakhouse. Smh This is why I don’t like to going out around major holidays. The full quality and service is just not the same.
Absolutely unacceptable. This establishment denied my family entry after we clearly explained that a family member has a crippling disability. The manager was rude, dismissive, and had the nerve to say, “We’re sorry for your disability, but we can’t service you.” That is blatant discrimination, and it should outrage anyone reading this. No one should ever be treated this way for a disability. Save your money and take it anywhere else. Thankfully, we found La Baia Italian, where we were treated with respect and the food was excellent. Support businesses that treat people like humans—this one does not.
