I always stop here for lunch when I come to RI. I like their salad and the hall is a pretty chill place to eat .
Our favorite place for lunch at RI. Great lunch dishes for the price. Always tastes good. I love the salad buffet where you can choose what you like. Today’s dish is usually always great too! Coffee and a treat is nice as well. Highly recommended this place for breakfast and lunch or an afternoon snack if you’re on Roosevelt Island. Great views as well!
delightful experience at a Cornell Techcafé! The combination of an almond croissant, cappuccino, and sandwich sounds like a perfect treat and yes, taking in the Manhattan skyline views have added to the experience. Roosevelt Island's location offers some amazing views of the city. This is hardly 3 minutes by walk from the Roosevelt Tramway Station. Prices are Great and ample seating space inside and outside.
We stopped at the Cornell Tech cafe when we visited Roosevelt island. We tried an ice tea and a caprese sandwich. We loved the sandwich so much that we got another one. The potato chips that came along with the sandwich were unique and very tasty too. The prices are unparalleled and this is definitely the best place to eat on this side of the island. There are seating areas inside and outside with great views.
This place is a fantastic pit stop for anyone visiting Roosevelt Island! 🚡 Low prices and a great selection of drinks, food items, and most importantly - ice cream! 🍦 The Cafe is probably the only spot in Manhattan where you can find Cornell's delicious premium ice cream by Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. My favorite flavors are the Cornell Maple 🍁 Walnut and the Big Red 🔴 Bear 🐻 Tracks 🐾 but I wish they had the Martha's Bits & Bytes flavor too.
We stopped by here on our way to see the Franklin Roosevelt Monument. It was in the middle of a heat wave that hit NYC and we were in need of a break. It was a nice spot to use the washrooms and get a treat or quick meal. The staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend stopping in when on the island and looking for a bite to eat when going to explore. 5/5. Follow me for more photos, tips and reviews.
+ brainy, quiet atmosphere + good light, yet no glare + large windows on three sides, nice views + okay food offerings, but unfortunately nothing really healthy + nice outdoor area - I didn't notice any easily available outlets for laptop power supplies or USB phone chargers - the seating and tables were run-of-the-mill and cookie cutter. No booths for small groups or people who want to retreat and isolate themselves. It was more "one size fits all"
The philly style hotdog is a pretty decent size. Taste wise, not much flavor. It's okay. I wanted a cuban sandwich and grabbed the chicken one by accident instead. Shredded chicken meat, lettuce, and tomato. It's better tasting than the hotdog. It's alright. There is plenty of seating, and the air conditioning is cool. Clean bathrooms to use.
You should stop here to freshen up and recharge during your visit to the island. The prices are reasonable and the menu includes sweets, light snacks and whole meals. You can sit inside the elegantly designed lunch hall but the true beauty is enjoying the magnificent outer shared outdoor space. Even architecture novices would appreciate the combination of modern buildings, city views and greenery.
The location is excellent and the space is very comfortable. The food is okay and hit or miss with frequent menu and supplier changes. The coffee is good. The prices have recently increased, probably due to the economy. The staff is often very brisk and could be friendlier.
wow what the hell happened to this cafe?? i used to come here for years and they had great pastries and good coffee. i got a “croissant” today and it is absolutely horrendous and the price is $5 when it was $3 before.
Running list of how ridiculous the pricing here is: $15 for a single scoop of paella and 1 carrot and 3 bites of Caesar salad. $15 for five pieces of tofu (paneer) and a half scoop of chickpeas… $15 for six pieces of beef, three pieces of potato, three carrots, half scoop of mushrooms, I’m not even full. $15 for three tacos. If you’re gonna charge $15, at least increase serving sizes. Priced like boutique restaurant food but tastes worse than Chipotle and Dig. Has a monopoly on the southern side of Roosevelt Island, and it is certainly exploiting that monopoly (and Cornell Tech students).
In Google says It is closed at 5 pm. At 4,30 pm they decided not to serve more coffee. When I informed about the schedule in Google, a very impolite guy (in the picture) has answered very rude: “if you have any problem talk to my manager.”. I have answered him that is not the way to answer a customer but he didn’t care at all. With this service better find other place. After leaving, this “person” has closed the Cafe about 20 minutes earlier. It seems difficult to find good staff.
Updated review May 21, 2023: it is no longer worth it to come here. Very bad food at expensive prices. A main dish made of thawed Costco food shouldn’t cost $15. So many other places to buy food in the island for a lesser price at a higher quality. There was a change in the people too, and the new people are not nice. Review from 2022: Updated review to one star. You should not be blocking ADA entrance with stuff. See photo. Old review from 2019: Truly amazing people. People that work here are very nice. The only problem with the cafe is the amount of unattended children screaming and running like if they were in a playground, while the real housewives of RI enjoy their lunch.
