Great spot to go for a date or girls night out. Django felt very cozy and the music made it even better. For drinks I had The Yardbird cocktail (delicious tropical drink) and a glass of white wine. For food, I had the Grilled beef Tenderloin. It came a bit undercooked for my taste but they were able to accommodate and solve the issue. Overall would recommend, at least for drinks and the show.

Very good food, great staff, and beautifully played jazz music. You can order food, drinks, and sit back and enjoy various jazz classics. Definitely recommend if you want to experience of New York Jass club, this is what I have in mind.

typically refers to the renowned jazz club in New York City, though it may also refer to the classic Western film or the Python web framework. The Django (Jazz Club – NYC) Located in the cellar of the Roxy Hotel in TriBeCa, this subterranean venue is highly rated for its "Parisian boîte" atmosphere and world-class live jazz. The Vibe: Reviewers consistently praise the "speakeasy" aesthetic, featuring vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, and intimate lighting. The Music: Performers are frequently described as "phenomenal" and "talented," making it a top destination for jazz enthusiasts. Common Criticisms: Many guests complain about a $35–$40 cover charge combined with a strict two-drink minimum per person. Some recent reviews also mention "extremely rude" hostesses and inconsistent service. Logistics: Reservations are essential via Resy. While there is no official dress code, fashionable evening attire is recommended. Django (1966 Film) The original Spaghetti Western starring Franco Nero is a cult classic known for its bleak, nihilistic tone and high level of violence for its time. Critical Reception: It is widely regarded as one of the most influential Westerns ever made, spawning dozens of unofficial sequels and inspiring Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Modern Reviews: Restoration releases (like the 4K scan from Arrow Films) receive high marks for visual quality and extensive bonus features. Django (Web Framework) The Python-based framework is one of the most popular tools for web development, used by companies like Instagram and Pinterest. Pros: Frequently reviewed as "batteries included" because it provides built-in tools for authentication, security, and database management. Cons: Some developers find it "monolithic" and less suitable for very small-scale projects compared to micro-frameworks like Flask. Would you like to see the upcoming performance schedule for the NYC jazz club, or are you looking for streaming options for the film?

My recent visit to The Django, was truly a highlight of my trip to New York. The live jazz performance was nothing short of phenomenal. The acoustics in the cavelike space are excellent, making for an immersive and authenthic experience. The service was attentive and friendly, it was the perfect spot to celebrate my birthday and have a romantic date night with my husband. If you are looking for an authenthic, high-quality jazz experience in NYC, this is the place that will deliver a top tier evening that I would happily repeat.

Expensive and hard to get a res, but it's always an amazing time at the Django. Excellent mocktails and cocktails, even freat zero proof wines! Highly recommended always. The only drawback is that the accommodations are very tight, so be mindful of your space and volume during sets.

Wonderful, intimate jazz spot with a great atmosphere. The food and cocktails were excellent thoughtfully made and perfectly suited to the space. The vibe is cozy, warm, and very New York, especially for live jazz nights. The only downside was the service policy: being asked to provide a credit card immediately upon ordering or right after sitting down felt a bit pushy and disrupted the otherwise relaxed experience. That said, it’s still a fantastic place overall, and I would absolutely come back the music, ambiance, and quality make it worth it.

As someone who has been reviewing dining and nightlife around the world for decades, my visit to The Django in NYC was a truly memorable evening. The club’s ambiance immediately transports you into a classic, underground jazz scene, with low lighting, vaulted ceilings, and intimate seating that balances comfort with exclusivity. The space works perfectly for both small groups and solo visitors, making it versatile for casual drinks, date nights, or immersive live music experiences. The service was polished and attentive without being intrusive. Staff efficiently guided guests, managed orders, and ensured a seamless flow even during peak hours. Drinks were carefully crafted, cocktails balanced and flavorful, and small plates arrived at the ideal temperature with thoughtful presentation. The live jazz performance itself was stellar—crisp, immersive sound that allowed conversation without diminishing the musical experience. Portions were satisfying but not overwhelming, pricing reflected the quality of the experience, and the overall vibe perfectly blends sophistication with relaxed intimacy. Whether visiting for the music, the drinks, or simply to soak in the unique atmosphere, The Django delivers a top-tier jazz club experience that meets the expectations of both casual visitors and seasoned connoisseurs.

Such a great place for a jazz night! The saxophonist was amazing! Can’t speak for the drinks, I accidentally ordered a mocktail which I wasn’t a fan of. The charcuterie board was good and perfect for 4 people. Such a fun thing to experience with friends.

I’m not usually a big jazz person, but this place is truly worth recommending. They have live performances and the atmosphere is amazing — cozy, intimate, and perfect for a date night. Even if you’re not into jazz, you’ll still enjoy it here.

Django is a very cool underground jazz bar with great cocktails. The vibe is Parisian bohemian, more comfy than chic. The staff is chill, the music is amazing, and the audience enthusiasm is infectious. The night I was there was Latin night with an amazing octet playing Latin tunes with a Cuban influence. What really spiced it up was a seemingly crowd sourced Latin dance class that chose that evening to dance their asses off. I had 3 espresso martinis and am still shimmying to the Latin rhythms.

Fun hidden jazz bar in the basement of a hotel. Lower cover charge than blue note. The Cacio Pepe was ok not amazing.

had a great night at the django! we saw jed levy quartet who were fantastic. the ambience was amazing and the service was very attentive. i do wish they had more vegan food on their menu as we had to eat elsewhere after the show, but the drinks were quite good. not bad value considering you are seeing a jazz show, and they have a lot of times available

This jazz spot is truly a hidden gem. The ambience is incredible dim lights, intimate seating, and live jazz that feels like it was pulled straight out of a classic movie scene. The musicians are talented, and the vibe is perfect for a relaxed, atmospheric night out. The only downside is their strict two-drink minimum. Even if you’re not in the mood to drink, you’re still required to order two beverages per person, which can feel a bit pushy and adds to the overall cost of the night.

Nice jazz bar. Very business oriented. The band spend more time taking than playing. One hour with meal. You must order two drinks for each person. Total cost over 150$ per person for only one hour show.

I believe this is great experience especially for a date night (with plans after) this is just my opinion. Since the show is only a hr I just find it best to eat somewhere else I DID NOT try the food since I went to the 12 am show. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because for a midnight show the performance was too dull, I would’ve appreciated more of a fun hype performance for a 12am show. I like the vibe in there and just the atmosphere overall the drinks were good too I got the old fashion and my parter got the punch cocktail and it came in a cool cup. They also gifted us champagne glasses because we were celebrating something special

This place is an experience I do admit that. I went here June 22, 2025. I loved that the building isn’t that old but the basement look like it belong in the 1930’s-40’s when Jazz was just making a solid foundation in music. The food was Devine. I believe I had the steak with mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I love a good steak with a mashed potato so would go back for that alone. The music was decent, but would love to see other performances. The service wasn’t the best though. Our server was kinda slow and seemed distracted. He also forgot a food item we requested, so we didn’t remind him.

I loved the artists and performance here. Ambiance, atmosphere was perfect. It is located in roxy hotel which is so cool! Everyone was so chic and looking good. Perfect for a date or girls night out if everyone likes jazz. We were tourists there, so it was perfect ambiance just as we wanted. However, there was 2 things that made us surprised and upset. While making a reservation, we were told that they have a table for 10pm show and it was 35$ and 2 drinks included per person. So we made the reservation. We went there on time and asked to be seated to the hostess. But the lady said that my name was not on the list, but she said she’d help us to be seated anyway. We waited more than 30 mins, and got stressed while waiting because the 10pm show had started already and my friends become uncomfortable. At the end, we were seated to a front table which made us happy. Also, we learned later that we have to have at least 2 drinks and they were not included to 35$. Drinks were rather expensive and not so great. So we had to drink and paid almost 100$ per person which were not told us like that… Each show was around 2 hours-long and there is circulation of table in every 2 hour as far as i saw. So if you go there for 8pm show, probably they will ask you leave in 10 pm to have space for the next show. I would probably go there again for a date and ambiance keeping all these facts in advance and arrange myself accordingly. Thats why i wanted to share it with yall too!!

I went to this jazz club recently, and while the performance itself was incredible, the overall experience wasn’t great. The place was crowded, and before the set even started, a group of people behind me were speaking extremely loud and grabbing onto the back of my chair causing it to wiggle (it was a high up bar seat). The seating arrangement felt awkward and cramped, and the staff walking by kept bumping or kicking my chair as well. Service took forever, and the food was honestly unappetizing. The one truly good part of the night was the music—the performers were amazing and absolutely worth hearing. I just wish the rest of the experience matched the quality of the show.

I am sure there are many people that have great experiences here but I was not one of them. I went with a group of 4 total and in that time the food took 40+ mins (you can only sit for 1 hour 45 mins) and since you have to order 2 drinks each (we didn't want to drink) you have to buy their insanely priced mocktails. This would have be palatable if we didn't see two cockroaches on the wall right next to where we were sitting (it is, after all, in a basement). The bill was $500+ with tip - I'd go elsewhere again with that money.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun jazz bar with a real stage once you’re inside. However, the experience overall is just unpleasant. The 90 minute table limit (30 minute intermission and 60 minute show) meant that every table turns when you’re about to enter and it was a chaotic madhouse trying to get seated. The tables next to the stage are FCFS for all reservations, so we got sat near the end with a poor view and a party behind us that was belligerently drunk and yapping up a storm. I’ve never been so irritated that I first asked the bartender to ask the other party to quiet down during the show, which is per the Django’s rules, just for the bartender to say it was the hotel owners so he couldn’t do anything. 30 mins into the show, it was so unbearably unenjoyable that I asked again, to which we got a table switch. Nail in the coffin is we finally got our first drink after the table switch, halfway through the show, where it cost $40 cover and TWO DRINK MINIMUM, so we were rushing to finish after the show ended. I’m sure it was a fluke, but the experience was such a headache and so expensive I’d much rather go to Saint Tuesday, which is a stone’s throw away.

Loved the music upstairs, the and dessert we had at The Roxy. No cover, no drink minimum. However the Django downstairs was my first and last time ever! Rude rude rude hostess. My cousin made a reservation online for 4 for the 10pm show. We arrived with time to spare at 9 pm to check in and he went to the bathroom. The rest of us waited near the host podium for my cousin to return. There was a woman who took the original host’s place. We were enjoying our own conversation and thought we had time to kill and we weren’t listening to names she started calling out. She then comes over to us very aggressively saying Joe??!! Joe??!! Joe party if 4??!!!Looking at my sister and I and shouting. I said yes, he checked in and our reservations for 10pm! She started shouting at us saying “Come on people didn’t you hear me saying the name 10 times??! If you dont answer I’ll give your table to walk ins!” SHE NEVER EVEN SAID his last name to which I would have responded.Just Joe, Joe..” And she was so incredibly rude to us in her tone and we are paying guests! We were not deliberately ignoring her. There was a miscommunication and I was taken Ava k by her manner. I said again to her” our show is at ten”, and she said “No it’ started already so go in!” She wasn’t hearing anything we were saying to her. II had to go in but came out again to find m cousin who wouldn’t have known we went in. Upon returning from the men’s room my cousin was also confused because he knew he made reservations for 10. Horrible experience and we will never come back.

The service was unprofessional and rude. We spent over $500 for four people, got only one hour of music, and waited 45 minutes before receiving any food or drinks. The Django had been on my New York list for years, so I brought my mom and aunt to celebrate a special occasion. Instead, all the Asian guests, including us, were seated in the back of the room while groups seated after us were served first. When we asked about our order, staff brushed us off with sarcasm, asked us to repeat it 45 minutes later, ignored us, or promised to check and never returned. Our drinks arrived halfway through the set, and our main course showed up at last call, leaving us less than 10 minutes to eat. To make matters worse, they never gave us a final call but still charged an extra $120 for not meeting the two-drink minimum, even with a $500+ bill. Do not come here. Overhyped, rude, and badly in need of better staff training.
