Best halal cart in New York City! The food is delicious and the guys are very friendly. Sometimes there is a huge line but even then the wait time is not too long because they are hard working guys and serve the food very quick. I love the white sauce. Be cautious with the red sauce, it is very spicy! For the price you get very generous portions. Highly recommend! Parking in this area can be tricky, but parking in the city is always difficult doesn’t matter where you are.

This is not ordinary but EXTRA-ordinary!! This bowl of chicken platter was so delicious that we couldn’t wait to eat it but sat at a corner bench. Munching away, the mayonnaise and hot sauce blends well with the kebab chicken which J think was grilled with onions and garlic. There were tomato and rice covered in this bowl of goodness. It’s a must have!!

As a tourist from over 7000+ miles away, the food here absolutely blew my mind. The spice and the bowl is a taste you shouldn't miss. Be careful with the barbeque sauce tho, it's super spicy. But if you can tolerate the spice, its definitely a place you shouldn't miss.

Great food with an acceptable price for New York City. Portion I'd ok, but could be bigger. Ambiente?! Come on guys, it's Street food, so what are you expecting. I like it and I will come back again for sure.

Does it worth waiting in the line? YES! No doubt it’s a successful business. It provides good quality and healthy food with good taste. I absolutely recommend it. (I’m gonna try it again while I’m staying in NYC) We got the combo of lamb and chicken and lamb was really good. If you are not too much hungry, I would tell you that a regular plate is enough for two people!

I went here on August 11 around 7pm the line was surprisingly short since every time I go here the line is very long… but I got the Combo platter and it cost my $13 and the food was very good!! I recommend anyone go here and give it a try… it’s worth it!!!

I've been wanting to come to this place for quite some time now. I did not make the rain come between me and my combo plate. The line was shorter than expected because it was raining hard. I ordered the combo and the falafel plate. I was not disappointed at all. I would eat here every single day if I lived in NYC. This is a must try when you're visiting New York.

The food, a beef and chicken combo platter, was one of the most amazing, tastiest things I have ever eaten, and it cost just $11 Slight queue (5 mins), but do worth it. The staff were amazingly friendly, courteous, and practised good hygiene at all times. It's worth flying from Australia to New York for!!!

Perfect food. All the hype is well worth it. Have been trying all the imposters coming up in the Raleigh area for sometime now, however the original has definitely a different taste...and its awesome. The bowl had quality gyro meat and rice with excellent portions. The legendary white sauce was to die for ...the hot sauce made things perfectly balanced. Had to try the famous halal guys to see if it was worth the hype. There’s a line usually every time but they do things quick so the wait isn’t even long. I got the chicken platter, beef gyro and falafel and it only came up to around $20 ish dollars so that’s not bad! The amount of food we get is def worth the price. The food itself is very good and would def try again if I’m around. Worth the hype.

Had the chicken platter - absolutely delicious. The white sauce is a must try (noting that their white sauce recipe is too secret, equivalent to KFC’s secret). The carts are scattered around NYC so you have plenty of options to try this little gem of a takeaway bite in NYC however be careful not to mistakenly try their duplicates - there are other carts around such as The Original Guys etc but this is not the same company. My review and recommendation is only The Halal Guys.

The waiting line was so long it took around 30 minutes. But the wait was worth it. The best Halal food you can find around in NYC and it was a delicious mix of beef, chicken and hummus. Definitely one of the best gyro we had. The taste was great. We wished we had more CASH so we could get more. Hopefully we can go back while we are still here in NY. This is THE place to get your Gyro platter or wrap, it’s delicious and fresh. These guys work so hard and are friendly, they are open until 4AM and the line moves quick.

The line moves fast and they accept card as well. The most iconic of food trucks in New York, Halal Guys definitely live up to their fame by serving pretty good food for under $10 bucks. There is a decent amount of seating right beside the truck and they also have drinks ($1 or $2) and some desserts. Definitely recommend. Both the chicken and beef were full of flavor with generous portions and great texture. The white sauce and red sauce (very spicy) further lift the humble platter but their insane portions will most likely prevent you from getting seconds immediately. I struggled to finish their large combo platter ($10).

I tried 2 Halal Guys carts on this block and it gave us very different experience. Suggest to go with this one on 6Ave 53rd St in front of Credit Agricole CIB. The combo platter of chicken and beef is a must go menu, with the white sauce and spicy sauce. The first time we got the beef and chicken were very moist and tasty. The second time we got from the cart on 6Ave 52rd St., both beef and chicken were quite dry and the sauce was too little.

What an incredible taste and service… Now I know why they became that much famous.. The exact amount of spices in chicken and beef, fresh salad and hot pita bread made this combo exceptionally delicious. The white sauce is the cherry on the top. The shawarma options is really good value for price, the size is just perfect, the taste is really good, the flavors, everything feels fresh. The platter options is amazing the rice is really good but have in mind the size is really HUGE!!! I had to take with me half of it!!! The pita en both was really good!! The sauces are the perfect complement and the spicy sauce is really SPICY!! The baklava as really good, perfect to end this amazing food!! And the guys there are really nice and kind, the service was really good and fast!! Really this is a food truck worth trying when in NYC!!!

Really love the halal guys, it is definitely a comfort food and a memorable one that i had in New York. As an asian, it was very easy to eat the rice, no issues at all. The white sauce was very great, definitely you can tell from the photos. I think i waited for 20ish minutes because it was cold and very windy, otherwise it would have been longer. Also it was fun to eat on the side of the road.

Delicious as usual! I got the regular sized combo meal (beef and chicken). It came with rice, lettuce, pita pieces (not enough though!) and the fantastic white sauce. Check the locations on both corners - the line for one was twice as long as the other.

I have seen continuous praises for this food cart and the expectations delivered! We waited for ~30 minutes in line and got our food, line moved quickly. There was one guy handling the payments and the others were busy cooking food, so it was hygienic. There weren't many places near the food cart to sit, so you might wanna search a place to sit in advance if you plan to eat right away. The meats were seasoned so well and every bite was succulent. The vegetables were fresh, and the sauce added a nice touch to the food. It reminded me of the Middle Eastern food that I've eaten back in Montreal. Prices were reasonable and the portions were huge. If you're not a big eater then you can share a platter between two people.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this place for a while now. However, during my recent visit to the area, I decided to try their new Spicy BBQ Chicken Platter. Naturally, I asked for a generous amount of white sauce. The taste and flavor were simply amazing. I can’t imagine going back to anything else from this place for quite some time, as I’ll be craving the Spicy BBQ Chicken every time. I must admit, it was a bit too spicy for my taste, but the white sauce saved the day.

Can you believe 1 hr and 40 minutes drive just for this spot??? Yup! Been doing it for 20 yrs and will keep going as long as they stay open! Only thing I would love for the owners to consider is spoons lol please just give spoons and forks with the meal. Definitely wear a few layers because lines are long and you will need to have patience respect for others and will power to stand and wait! All worth it! Because we travel long distance and with traffic we always buy extra platters to take home. Cash payment is the way to go and definitely go with a 2nd person because forget about getting parking spots and double parking is not allowed. You can park next to Hilton and have 1 person stay in driver seat lol. It’s a real adventure every time but like I said it’s all worth it! Besides who doesn’t love the city skyscrapers and beautiful lights during the holidays!

We visited here for the first time and are absolutely in love with the food. The person serving and making the plates was kind and courteous, and quick. It was frigid weather when we went, but their warm food, along with the nice spicy sauces, warmed us up and gave us the energy to walk around NYC. The portions were generous, and the food was amazing. Even our teen commented that this place was totally worth it. They also handed out extra sauces without being asked for, which was a bonus. We tried a spicy BBQ chicken sandwich and a spicy BBQ chicken platter. Both were amazing. We will be coming here again and will recommend this place to everyone visiting the area.

First time I came here was in the 2000’s. My cousin works nearby and told me about it. It just to be a shared spot. They only operate in evening, during the day it was another cart who operates there. They became wildly popular since. Today they own 3 of the carts on that corner two of which are just for cooking the chicken and another just to grab soda. Why it is popular is the size of serving for reasonable price. $13 for a huge bowl of food and the food is goood! Beef I had was very tender. The chicken is what they are known for. Just a note. I like onions, but if you are going somewhere after do tell them to not put as much. They put a lot. If it is in the wrap it’s hard to remove it. They do accept credit card. Great place to go!

Definitely worthy food delivery. I tried the platter and sandwich, and the chicken& fafafel platter is my favorite. However, I underestimated the hot sauce. At some point I think New York was mainly hot dog carts. Now, it’s all halal carts. This Yellow shirt classic food stand has been there since 1990. Now this stand typically as a line. They have another stand right across the street. So the concept here is platters. As street food- you have chicken, beef, falafel as options. For my vegetarians, the falafel is made in a separate cart so it can be separated from the chicken and beef. Its made fresh so I had a wait. They came out with 12 piping hot falafels and it was worth it. For the platters you get rice, vegetables and then your protein. In my case, 6 piping hot falafels. On top of it is pita bread and then white and red sauce. The white sauce is a lovely blend of mayonnaise and yogurt. A perfect blending of Mediterranean and American cultures. The red sauce is spicy and should be taken in limited quantities. If you get this to go, they wrap it up for you and put it in a bag. We walked back to the hotel and our food had stayed warm. The rice was flavorful, and the veggies and falafel. Combined with the white and red sauce this was a perfect meal. It cost me $12 + tax. They take cash and card. This line I can be long but what I know is that it’s worth it.

Today, I finally decided to give it a try—I just wanted to know the taste. I was surprised at how good it was! I ordered the combo with chicken and BBQ ck, topped with white and red sauce. The sauces were flavorful—the red sauce was very spicy, but I could handle it. I will definitely come back again. I also noticed another halal place next door, but I chose Halal Guys because of the longer line, and it turned out to be worth it. The location is convenient, right across from the Hilton Hotel.

Got a nice chicken bowl on rice with the white sauce and red sauce, it was so filling and good. Regular size is only 11$ and large is 12$. It’s a lot of food. Had the Beef and Chicken Combo on a regular size and to be honest almost struggled to finish it because the portions are so generous! Well worth every calories with the quality of meat and also how crunchy the lettuce/tomatoes are. Pita bread was also toasted to perfection and just at the right level of crispiness. Definitely having another bowl before I leave NYC. What an amazing brand and business, made out of pure passion and basic offerings of protein and vegetables in a bowl. Absolutely loved the kebab here! We tried the falafel as well. The sauces on top also taste great! There was a huge queue (I am not surprised at all). The food is so tasty. One of the best in terms of food carts in NYC. Definitely try it out if you are visiting the area. PS. Make sure to get as much sauce packets from them as you can they enhance the taste of the food.

The chicken, rice and veggies were not too special - what made the halal guys special was their sauces. The hot sauce was especially amazing. If you see a long line, it's not because it's peak hours. It's always incredible busy no matter the time. This staple of Middle Eastern cuisine is the equivalent to Joe's Pizza for my wife and her family. The food is amazing and of high quality.

This is the original Halal Guys food cart. It is probably still the best tasting and freshest Halal food in its business. The guys working here are great as they do a great job interacting with the customers regardless how busy they are. We beat the crowd by showing up at 11am, when it opens. Overall, this could be a quint essential New York experience and it is a good experience.

I visited this food truck twice. At noon, it was too crowded, so I decided to explore other sights in New York and came back in the evening for dinner. The portions were generous, and the sauces were delicious. When I arrived, only one of the three food carts was still cooking, while the others were cleaning up and preparing to close. I'm not so sure that for travelers, if you choose to take out and walk for a while to find a suitable place to eat, the taste is no longer good.

Visiting First time New York , everyone recommend eating at Halal Guys so we decided check out what all the hype about . Best part getting a wholesome meal at 1 AM at night was really fascinating coming from a town where everything closes at 9 pm. Long Queue at 1 am gave us assurance that food would be delicious. Queue was worth the hype and anyways the queue moved very fast due to the efficiency of the staff. Now the food, We Ordered a few chicken and Falafel Platters which came with rice, lettuce, pita pieces and chicken/Falafel , loaded with the fantastic white sauce. Everything was served super fresh and hot. Portions were generous. We really enjoyed the food as we were very hungry after a long drive from North Carolina. Slept late with an happy belly ! The Only downside was they only accept Cash at the food truck . Luckily we had some it would have been very difficult to look at cash late night.

Such simple menu, but so well-cooked that it melts in your mouth. Generous portions that make up a perfect bowl of ingredients. The magic sauces are the secret elements that add to the overall flavor profile. We were lucky to not get crowds during the lunch hour but when we passed by later in the evening, we saw long lines. The people who serve the food are quite un-amusing and want you to keep moving, but who cares when you are getting such good tasting food! One thing we struggled with was a place to sit after picking up our food.

Finally, flew 7000 miles and got to try the famous halal guys platter. Luckily, there was no queue, but beware the lunch hour line which is super long. I went around 3:45pm and there was no line. The famous white sauce has a special tang flavor and it compliments the rice and meat mixture very well. Overall, the combo was yummy and satisfying. The hot sauce is quite hot, so best ask it separately. The staff are friendly and happy to serve the customer needs. The platter is $11 if paid in cash, and if one pays by card, there is a fee. Recommend trying the platter and find a peaceful spot to eat and enjoy.

They serve platters and pita sandwiches topped with freshly cooked chicken, beef gyro, falafel, and spicy BBQ chicken. The Combo Platter (Chicken & Beef Gyro) comes with lightly spiced basmati rice, generous portions of meat, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, green pepper, cucumbers, and a piece of pita—so loaded you can barely see the rice. The mix of juicy meat, fresh veggies, creamy white sauce, and spicy hot sauce is simple, bold, and seriously satisfying!

Good way to get a first impression of Halal cart! The chicken and rice is very flavorful and you really can't go wrong with it but I would not so it is nearly the best Halal car I've had now. I think the general sentiment is that the quality has decreased as they have gotten more popular. I am not sure if that is true but I do know that in comparison to Adele's, the chicken is not seasoned as thoroughly and the rice is not as fragrant. The carts are all over the same area so I highly recommend you try and determine for yourself.

The Halal Guys are a true NYC staple — iconic, really. It’s still one of the best food buys out there, though the quality has been somewhat inconsistent since Covid. Funny enough, I recently had the most authentic Halal Guys experience at their Orlando branch. It may not be exactly what it once was (and it’s definitely no longer $7), but it remains beyond solid. On its good days, it’s still the best.

The food is good as usual. The rice had a texture, and the meat was tender, free of unwanted parts. They are using the white and hot sauce packets now and it could be messy when you spread them. The guy would give you everything that was supposed to come with the platter. Anything beyond that would drive him impatient, considering the volume of the customers he had to deal with everyday, it is understandable.

I've been going there in the past 13 yrs and it use to be the most convenient place where you could get a good plate of food at a good price. Unfortunately it is not anymore, meat is maybe the 10% of the platter and the majority is rice and bread, for a price that keeps going up. Quality of food is still the same.

Went there after watching vedios in social media. Average good food worth trying for once at least. There was waiting time (20-25 minutes). We visited there at around 5 pm

They can make the process faster but they are super slow and have people wait for 30-40Mins in the freezing cold before they serve food. It’s a text book case of marketing and creating a buzz. Some parents have small babies in strollers waiting for an hour in the freezing cold.

I'm sad to say that I'm very disappointed on the major change in food quality over the years. Several yrs back, the chicken was more chopped/shredded. The famous white sauce is very bland now. It used to be flavorful. The only thing i did like is now they add salad and pita bread and there are two sizes to choose from. I am hardly in the city and not sure when this change came about, but I was not expecting this change and left me not wanting to get from them again. Far more halal places with better tasting food.

I am not sure what all the hype is about this place. This food to me is nothing more than mediocre street food. I now have had it 2-3 times so my opinion isn’t based on just one time. Very pour quality ingredients In their sauces, you can tell immediately the sauce that is packaged is just low quality. Just see picture. Their portions seem small comparing it to other food carts in the area or even in queens. Atmosphere? You’re waiting on the street with pigeons pooping everywhere around you looking for scraps. Sorry just stating the facts. Service? The guys there looked over worked and tired. I’m done, won’t be going back. All the best to the Halal guys. If you have never tried them out go for it.

What a difference from the first time I ate halal guys in 2010 at this stall and now in 2026. The queue is 20% of what it once was and really sad compared to the Adel’s down the road. I just ate at Adel’s the night before and I waited for almost 45 mins. Halal guys was 10 mins. Comparison between Adel’s and Halal Guys 1. A has a choice of lamb and chicken. H only has chicken on sale 2.A has a choice of spicy rice and normal yellow rice, H only has 1 type non spice 3. A has a heap of French fries on top of the meal, H has non 4. A’s chicken is chunky and moist versus H’s chicken is drier and more of a minced texture Times have changed and Halal guys sadly is falling way behind..

This place has really gone downhill. Even three years ago when people were beginning to dunk on this place it was still my preferred cart, over Adele’s, or anywhere else. A year ago even it was still pretty good. Something about the specific flavor. I don’t know what is going on but this is so trash right now. Portions are tiny for more money than other carts. Sure, the viral tax, but it’s so bland, generic, and a waste of calories, money, and time spent queuing for this. I’m so disappointed with whatever has gone on with this cart over the past year. Will not be trying again.

Ordered 3 chicken over rice. The food isn't crazy good. Like I dont get the hype/popularity around it. The chicken was bland, VERY low quantity. Rice were low quality. Half of the plate was just Salad. Taste is very bland and dry. Wont be going back. Not worth the time, money or energy.

I tried The Halal Guys. I had heard many times that their chicken over rice is very tasty, supposedly the best in all of New York. Here’s what I have to say: I didn’t find anything special about it, it’s about the same as everywhere else in New York. But what really struck me was the complete lack of sanitation. The fact that they work in gloves only creates the illusion of cleanliness. If you look closely, they touch everything around them with those same gloves: the booth where they cook, the trash containers, and then they serve the food. This caused me great disgust. Will I ever return to them for food? Never!

I’ve been coming to the Halal Guys cart on 53rd & 6th for years, and honestly, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The staff was completely unprofessional from the moment we arrived. They made us wait 45 minutes for chicken because they “had to prepare a new batch,” yet they didn’t bother to communicate anything to the customers waiting. No updates, no apologies—nothing. On top of that, the way they talk to people is just rude. When I politely asked for a straw for my soda can, the guy snapped back with “we don’t have it” in the worst attitude. Zero customer service. But the biggest disappointment? The food. The chicken used to taste amazing back in the day, but now it tastes awful—dry, bland, and nothing like before. The quality has gone downhill so badly that it’s honestly not worth the wait or the money anymore. This place used to be legendary, but now it’s just a frustrating, disrespectful, and low-quality experience. I’m not satisfied at all, and I won’t be coming back. I came from from Philadelphia with my guests hope that we can guest an amazing time but it was the opposite

I recently tried Halal Guys from their food truck, and it was honestly one of the worst food experiences I’ve had in a long time. The meat tasted dry and overcooked, lacking seasoning and any real depth of flavor. The rice was bland and felt like it had been sitting out for hours. The sauces, which are usually what elevate this type of dish, didn’t help at all — they were either too watery or overly salty, masking rather than enhancing the food. Nothing tasted fresh. What made the experience worse was the price. For what I paid, I expected at least decent quality and satisfying portions. Instead, the portion size felt small relative to the cost, and the overall quality simply didn’t justify the price point. It felt overpriced for what was essentially mediocre, poorly executed street food. The presentation was sloppy, the ingredients didn’t taste fresh, and there was no attention to detail. When you charge above-average food truck prices, customers expect better quality and consistency. Unfortunately, this fell far short. Overall, it was a disappointing and frustrating experience. I would not return, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for flavorful, good-value food. There are far better options available at similar or even lower prices.

I had a very different experience on my second visit. The first time I came here, the food was good and the staff were friendly. I ordered a small chicken platter and was satisfied. However, when I visited again today with my mother, we had a disappointing experience. We ordered the same items, but were charged for a large size and extra chicken wings without being clearly informed. When I questioned the price, the staff laughed instead of explaining properly. This made us feel uncomfortable and taken advantage of. I hope the restaurant improves its transparency and customer service.

The Quantity of the chicken and gyro is very very less it's just a hype it's better to eat something else and try something else not worth it to stand hours for food. Water bottle it's 2 dollars that's too ridiculous.
