As a Columbia student this is my favorite pizza place nearby campus. It’s open until late hours perfect for those long nights. The staff is friendly and attentive. Very great pizza with fresh ingredients.

Upside pizza may be a bit more expensive than other slice shops nearby, it’s clearly superior on every way (except maybe that mother pizza - if you know you know). They have limited seating so it’s best to grab and go.

Upside pizza on Manhattan’s upper Westside is an absolute gem. The store is bright, spotless, and welcoming the moment you walk in. The staff couldn’t be friendlier-they make the experience as enjoyable as the slices. There is always great music playing in the background and that is so NY. The slices are increíble. Every slice is bursting with flavor, from the classics to their more unique varieties. Check them out and don’t sleep on this spot! Definitely one of the best spots for a perfect New York slice!

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for a while, and this place is honestly my absolute favorite. The pizza is so crusty and perfect that I could eat it every day, and the spicy vodka sauce is genuinely the best pizza I’ve had outside of Italy. Also, the people working there are some of the loveliest, and interacting with them always picks me up.

The spicy vodka pizza had an crispy, firm crust and was quite flavorful. It was $6 for the slice though it was worth trying for the first time. Seating is limited so it might be better to take out.

It is a nice little pizza joint and I definitely recommend it for anyone who has a taste for high quality pizza. We got our food quickly within a minute. They have good music playing too, according to my 13-year-old. We ordered a slice of corn + caramelized onion pizza and a slice of spicy vodka. We enjoyed both and decided to split a 3rd slice - cacio e pepe, which ended up being our favorite of the three. Will visit again!

The pizza was great for a quick tasty bite , and I liked the range of flavors they had! You can see the oven and watch them make the pizzas, too, which is cool. Service-wise, I was impressed; there was a steady stream of customers moving through but the staff was very efficient and everything moved quickly. My server, José, was the epitome of good customer service - he was fast, friendly, and heated the pizza to the perfect temperature! As a vegetarian, I also appreciated the wide selection of meatless pizza options available.

If you only try one pizza shop in NYC, make it any of Upside Pizza’s locations; and if you try just one slice, make it their Cacio e Pepe slice. The humble white slice is often overlooked across the city however, I believe any pizza shop need be judged by their basics. If simple slices like their standard cheese or white slice aren’t up to snuff, then what’s the point? Upside Pizza changed how I view white slices in the city. All of their stuff is great, from the pepperoni used to the crust on all their pies. But the fresh ricotta and shaved parm on the Cacio slice as soon as it leaves the oven? It is truly a *chef’s kiss* moment 🤌 the slice itself is salty, cheesy, dense, garlicky….all without being oily or one-note. It’s a slice that lets the ingredients speak for themselves, much like every pie that Upside makes. You just can’t beat this place!

I’ve NEVER liked Sicilian pizza. They are too thick and doughy, plain with just sauce and cheese or whatever but upside pizza has it figured out! Their slices are sooo good, it was visually appetizing enough to make me want a slice and I cannot get enough. They’re deep dish pan made like Pizza Hut so the crust is buttery and slightly over cooked. And I don’t know what they put in their sauce but it’s slight my bitter like a vinegar taste that’s just so unique. I’ve put my co-workers on to it too and sometimes we get a box to split. The service is good and quick and they keep the tables clean. The outside ones could use a bit of care but people should wipe the tables behind themselves as well.

Overall great experience here! The pizza was delicious, very crispy and according to my boyfriend the sourdough crust is to die for (I’m not much of a crust person myself…) We got five slices and it cost $30: cheese, spicy vodka, corn, pepperoni Sicilian, and mushroom slice. The spicy vodka was delicious as was the cheese and pepperoni Sicilian. We were really excited for the corn and mushroom slices but they were a little bit bland, probably because they are white pizza slices. The service was good, we got our food quickly, but the cashier was a little bit brisk with us. Definitely good vibes in the restaurant though, unique flavors, and a fun neighborhood spot. Stop by if you haven’t already!

The best regular slice on the UWS, as of 3-7-25. Bold? Gurl, it’s my review & you’re just a 🐿️ … Is it the best overall pizza spot though ? Pros: It’s an 8.3 One Bite crust crisp factor. Didn’t even need to tell them to cook it well done. Good chew. Thinnest crust. The cheese is low moisture mozzarella and their topping options are of high quality- Gina. Pepperoni, mushroom, vodka…basically you can’t go wrong with most… They deliver & open late. Cons: The Detroit style slices are disappointing. Dense and nothing like the real deal, even Jets is better. They only sell pizza & garlic knots, nothing else. Get your beef Pattie fix across the street, Ricky. ______________________________________ Lots of seating inside for a pizza spot… even more outside, weather permitting. Friendly staff. The got Mexican Coke & Fanta. Double Bonus. It’s a destination. I’d walk from CPW to Broadway for a slice because it beats all other pizza joints in the Morningside/ Columbia hood.

Used to go to their soho location at least once a week. Hyped that they opened one near campus. And the quality is exactly as good (dare i say better?) than what i expected from their shop in soho. Best pizza in neighborhood hands down! Well… Mama’s Too is on a similar level but who’s got time to walk that far?

Solid! Terrific addition to the UWS pizza scene and quickly becoming a favorite. Crispy chewy crust on the edges, charred and crispy on the bottom. Sauce, cheese and toppings extremely well balanced. A go-to for sure.

Near-perfect NY style pizza BUT... I'm starting to notice they're skimping on the size. Otherwise, complex dough & sauce + thin crispy crust makes it easily one of the best in the city.

Good experience at Upside Pizza. They have lots of selections, and the pizza was tasty, though the dough was a bit too thin for my taste. The guys behind the counter were very nice and helpful. Worth a try!

Pizza’s vaguely overpriced but quite good. I object to a slice place not listing their prices anywhere. Ice cream is very meh and way overpriced, definitely avoid that.

Ordered a pepperoni pizza, it was $40. There was no line, the place is right next to the Seinfeld diner. Got the order, No napkins, no plates, no bag for the soda. This seems like a place you can get a slice and sit. The pizza was ok, too much dough with not much flavor. The sauce was ok also. The lights outside drew me in, but the pizza wasn’t worth the price or the hype. Next time I’ll try across the street for $28.

Not tasty but really nice people working and cute interior

Will probably give it another shot, but slice was tiny, and kind of burnt. The pepperoni were salty and nicely crisped up but didn’t taste of much - more like little cups of spam. The slice was edible but nothing compared to Sal and Carmines or Mama’s Too. Five bucks for this slice was a bit of head fake.

We ordered a few slices. Couple of the slices were burned to darken and not eatable (You basically wouldn't feed ashes into your mouth). When we complained about the issues, we were told that the slices were all the same. In short, avoid this place at all cost.

I order my pizza and he gave it to another person even though I arrived at the place before them. Overall, terrible service and they do not deserve to be as high rated as they are. Instead I recommend Koronet Pizza a few blocks down due to their great tasting pizza and really affordable pricing. Just the most bang for your buck if you are in this region

The Downfall Okay so when this place opened up on Broadway i was really excited that they are making excellent Pizza and it was immediately my fav Pizza in the area. But then somehow the quality got worse. What happened was that suddenly the Pizza was always overbaked. Sometimes even the Pizza on the Counter was already blackened before it was even warmed up. Then there were several times that i asked them to heat it up shorter. It somehow always seemed to be a problem for them so i stopped asking. This is such a bummer to me because they actually use very high quality ingredients but you can´t actually taste the quality when the ingredients and the crust are overbaked. The cheese just becomes a sticky layer instead of the melty heavenly freshness it used to be. The crust is just like a cracker. On top of that the ambience also got worse. They used to play nice music here and i really enjoyed sitting here with friends. Now they blast this loud techno music and it makes sitting there really uncomfortable. Too bad really but i stopped eating here.

Cashier (stated his name was Miguel but not sure if true) accused me of not paying for the pizza and took pizza back. Despite asking said cashier several times to go back in the transaction history to show if I had not paid they would not go and look at the record. I had to go to my neighboring apartment building get my phone and show the charge which had been made to get the food. The cashier also characterized me as someone who repeatedly complained about the food in the past (and stated that he knew me). I had never interacted with this cashier before or ever complained about anything related to this establishment. My only orders until now had been to go so I have never eaten in the store.

I will describe the slice of pizza I got: 1) Extremely small by NYC standards. 2) The crust was unchewable, too hard. 3) Too much sauce and not enough cheese. 4)The person who took our order seemed to have facial paralysis (sarcasm) because he didn't smile at all. People who have given high ratings obviously haven't visited other pizzerias in the city. In short, don't waste your money or time at this pizzeria.
