My go to for takeout. Food is always fresh and the owner is very nice. The only downside is that since the pandemic it's takeout only which isn't a bad thing if you live nearby.
Fresh food! Clean place! Friendly owners! Decent prices! Worth buying!
Cash only, best spot, they'll make it extra spicy if you ask. So busy that everything is always very fresh and the owner is kind.
The guy was very nice and served us very well, gave us two soda cans because he was very generous. Food was also delicious and restaurant did not disappoint.
Excellent service, wonderful food, been eating there for years... They have a small table so you can eat there, but I usually order large and to-go... Never disappointed...
Love it, been ordering from this place a couple years now.. It's clean, has reasonable prices & decent services.. The delivery option could stand to be upgraded but other wise the food here is the best in this neighborhood
Classic cheap Chinese takeout. Great people. Kind. They know your order. They go out of their way to make you happy. This is my favorite place in the neighborhood. The kind of people and place you want to visit again and again.
My fave spot in my nabe! I love the wings or boneless fried chicken with fries, plain or sweet plantains. The family that owns/runs the business is just lovely people.
Delicious food. Friendly service. They make it pretty quickly too.
The best takeout Chinese in NYC! Excellent food across the board and amazing service every time. Definitely a place worth trying! Cash only
Really quick takeout order and the food was awesome! The general tso’s was easily some of the best I’ve ever had! Also the prices I think I were very reasonable for NYC. Just be warned this place is cash only which caught me by surprise, but highly recommend and definitely will be back!
One thing about about David the guy who makes the food. He is the coolest guy ever. He gives the best prices ever and makes delicious food ever.
This is my favorite Chinese place for years. The food is delicious. The owner is very friendly and polite. I do recommend it.
I pass by 10 to 15 take outs going out of my way just to come to this place. Food is great, prices are beyond fair, and Steve, and his wife are the most humble and kind folks. ABOVE & BEYOND!!!
Those wings!? And the kindest person behind the counter. They could to charge more if they wanted. I was visiting for a week in the neighborhood and ate here 3 times. And I'm not crazy about Chinese food.
I love this Chinese restaurant so much when I lived close I always ate here I spent so much money Supporting this business through the years whether I pick up or a family member lol but everything here is good he even knows my name sie sie lol and he knows I love small wings definitely gotta visit again when I’m back in town! Love this restaurant!
This place is absolutely GREAT. Cute old school little Chinese joint, just the way it should be. Went tonight for the first time there, and sure it won't be the last time. Got 3 dishes, everything was so good and tasty, and perfectly generous portion. Excellent job! Keep in mind, cash only.
Love them they’re so nice!! I just came to get a duck sauce and a soy sauce and they were so nice about it. Will def come back to get food especially after reading all the other reviews!
I eat here at least once a week and it’s always amazing! He somehow always knows what I ordered and even when I call to place the order he remembers specific requests. Truly the best Chinese takeout in the area!
The service was friendly and fast. I left very happy. Food is your usual fast Chinese takeout, no more no less, but the prices really can't be beat. This is a small place I'm happy to support!
I’ve been coming here for 6 years and the owners are so kind and remember my order when I order online. The food always taste fresh and the prices are great. Really great Chinese restaurant
This place is your typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They're clean, and the prices are affordable. The people are also nice. Don't come here expecting brown fried rice and food in plastic containers though (they'll do the latter if you ask them to). Since Evergreen up the block closed, I'll have to start coming here for my quick shrimp with broccoli fix.
Cheap, good, consistent food. Owner is friendly. Call your order in advance to avoid waiting. I always get the general Tso's chicken.
The food is consistent, tasty and well prepared. My go to’s are sautéed string beans , chicken with delicious chunks of eggplant & pork fried rice (not at all greasy with chunks of meat) fresh crunchy egg rolls (again never greasy). The owner is really friendly and always upbeat, albeit very busy, with reason. There is NOTHING half as good on the upper east side. My order always arrives hot and quickly, I live about ten blocks away. Unfortunately they can’t take credit cards on takeout yet. I regrettably ordered somewhere else bc I had no cash on hand, and the greasy fried rice was tasteless , over cooked and literally black with soy sauce- disgusting ! I really missed my yummy city that day...
As an Asian who grow up in Asian. I don’t really eat American style Chinese food. Today I went to the next door get some carrot cake, and saw this place, I bring it all the way back to Brooklyn, veggie lo mein still so good even after 1 hr travel. Probably the best American style takeout Chinese I ever had! Clean, delicious and affordable! 10/10
Yummy City Chinese Restaurant offers delightful BBQ spare ribs with perfectly cooked white rice complemented by a flavorful BBQ sauce. The shrimp and broccoli with white rice are equally impressive. Not only is the food delicious, but it's also budget-friendly. The staff's friendliness enhances the overall dining experience. Highly recommended for a tasty and affordable meal.
Delicious, cheap, very friendly staff, best Chinese food in the area
I’ve always loved this place. Spicy garlic eggplant for $5.50 can’t be beat. Attached below is their menu for reference since I can’t seem to find all of their dishes on their website.

Yummy indeed! Super cheap and all of the American Chinese classics available for takeout only. I like that they have a healthy menu too where you can order stuff that is steamed with sauce to the side. $7 for a satisfying, healthy meal ain’t bad!
This place is the GO-TO spot for Chinese food! There are several nearby, but I ONLY go to this one. Hot & Sour Soup Fried Chicken Wings with Roast Pork Fried Rice is my go-to order. They always give me soda complimentary ! Only down thing is they are CASH ONLY. So go get ya cash !
I love this place! Portions are GENEROUS (once a "pint" of lo mein gave me one dinner and two breakfasts) and the service is wonderful - fast and kind. Food has a more complex flavor than most casual Chinese food joints, which I really enjoy.
Hidden take-out gem in a Chinese food desert neighborhood. Sure it’s a hole in the wall but the guy at the window could not be sweeter or kinder, the food is cooked fresh to order in an open kitchen, and the prices can’t be beat. I had the chicken in garlic sauce combo, which included a crispy, not-oily pork egg roll, white meat chicken in a nicely-spiced garlic brown sauce with lots of crisp-tender fresh vegetables (broccoli, green pepper, onions etc) and a generous side of pork fried rice. All for under $10, and everything was still piping hot when I got it home… and neither greasy nor overly salty. Definitely recommended.
This place is the best. Good food, good price and the 2 owners are the nicest most hard working people.
first of all the owner is a freaking legend. and second the food is ALWAYS amazing
This place is a gem. They are literally the best chinese food I have ever had. I love how the owner really makes you feel like family . He will always remember your face and greet you like his friend. They take thier time to get to know you and ask how you are doing. I have never once had a bad experience and everytime the food taste amazing.
Tonight I experienced something new, an extra-ordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about Chinese food cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Yummy City's famous motto: 'Chinese food is not hard to make.' But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Yummy City, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest Chinese food cook in UES. I will be returning to Yummy City soon, hungry for more.
This place is worth a visit. Don’t let the small space fool you - they delivery big flavor. A small family operation feeding the masses on the UES. Cash only - but worth every penny.
been trying to find good quality, delicious and affordable Chinese food in my neighborhood. I have not had success until tonight. Thank you Yummy City- the best!!! I will be back.
CASH ONLY! Ideally they would have more/bigger signs saying that. Otherwise this place is awesome - high quality produce, sauce with lots of character, kind patient man at the counter.
Great food. I now travel from LES for the chicken corn soup (hard to find). I’ve tried a few other dishes and they were also great. David remembers customers and orders to perfection. And is honest with cooking time scale (rarity in the business). Cash only but there’s an ATM next door at JJ food corp the deli on the corner. Everyone at the depot had great things to say about this neighborhood staple! A true gem for the UES!
Large portions for the price. Great food and the food is delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone that does not want to spend an arm and leg and get there money’s worth.
Great food!!!! Best takeout!!! Spent so much money eating at other places in nyc, came here and this was the best food and the cheapest!

Best american chibese food in the UES. Unbeatable price and they do all the staples well. Food is not overly greasy and does not lack flavor. Ingredients are quality for the most part. Efficienct and friendly service.
Super, super great deals here! If you're looking for a cheap, Americanized-Chinese meal on the upper east side, this is your place. Portions are large enough to have leftovers for the next day, too. There is no seating so I suggest getting an entrée and a soda and walking the 8 minutes over to Central Park for a picnic!
Once upon a time I was unable to find decent Chinese food in East Harlem. I tried most from 125th to 96th from 1st to 5th Ave trying nothing but Sesame chicken. It was a brutal trip not soon forgotten. Yummy City not only has the best Sesame chicken,(in East Harlem) the service from the young gentleman at the window is flawless. Got a special order, no problem. Want to alter your order, no problem. He just tells you how much it's gonna be with a smile and no attitude. I usually get my Sesame chicken fried soft with no rice extra broccoli and a dollar extra chicken. His reply is always flawless, with a great attitude to match his positive stance always displayed to everyone's delight while ordering and picking up their food. This is almost unheard of when it comes to Chinese restaurants in Harlem. It seems that most Chinese restaurants do not like black people from America. The food is always fresh and cooked the way you ordered. They lost a star because they're not open consistently. I imagine that they probably don't open until they can properlyserve their food.. so it cool because the food and service is great. I would recommend trying this spot because in this hustle and bustle city, they deserve the business. "Good job young man.." is what I usually say when I leave the establishment. Yummy city is good.

Just OK. Friendly Staff and quick service. But the food is your run of the mill Chinese take out. The only plus is the much special prices are better than most in this area.
Its just ok. But Im shocked to hear about customer service the guy has always been soooo nice to me. I don't like their boneless spare ribs though... if you expect the sweet red sauce dont get boneless spare ribs. Food always seems fresh. But it is just a hole in the wall neighborhood spot.
Spent 30 dollars and they got my order completely wrong. Didn’t get a single thing I asked for. And they only take cash… it’s 2022 why would you not take card? And the food was disgusting. This is another example of a nyc restaurant that can shrug off quality and service because of population density. Go anywhere else. Don’t support these guys,
Tried to place an order for delivery. Our apartment is literally a block away from the restaurant and we wanted to try it out, since our friends, who live about 30-40 blocks away, recommended the place. We called twice, where the person on the other end picked up the phone and then hung up. Finally, on the third try, the person on the phone told us we couldn't place an order because our place was "too far away." Not trying again. Poor service.
The guy seems like a nice guy, but I've never had worse Chinese food in my life . Beef lomein was mushy , soaked in sauce and EXTREMELY salty. EXTREMELY EXTREMELY salty. And I had such an appetite for lomein, picked a good rated restaurant, AND checked the pictures. The picture of the lomein looked great . I called and picked up in 5 minutes . Maybe somebody ordered with extra sauce and didn't pick it up . It had to be the case . I feel so stupid for eating instead of returning it .
