Bayside Poke

Delicious. The warm sushi rice is surprisingly something I haven't seen at other places I've eaten at.

I found this place by accident shortly after the grand opening. I had never tried Poke before, and they got me hooked. Ever since, I've been back to California several times, and even to Hawai'i last summer. Today I ended back there by coincidence. Still the best Poke I've tried. Ingredients are fresh as they come, and I love how you can customize your bowl as you please. Plus the manager/owner is incredibly friendly and attentive.

Bayside is a pretty fast casual poke place. It's very quick, efficient, clean - and the poke bowls are freshly good. It's great for eating in or picking up to go. My favorite is the 21 Salmon - basically has everything you like salmon.

Everything looks fresh every time I visit. Nothing is ever thrown together. They place everything in your bowl in such a way that you can see all of your requested ingredients. You can choose from the menu on the wall options or build your own. I *never* walk away wishing they had more options or that they would have given me more. I like to indulge and get a sprinkle of hot cheetos dust...soooooo yummy. They also use FiveStar to keep track of your visits to reward you with offers on bowls and drinks.

Good bowl! Very big portion (seemed there was only 1 size? 3 protein scoops). But it was $18 for the bowl.

Best made to order and fresh as it can be. Highly reccommend thus place. Nice locally owned and employs many young people who are really Trained well and helpful. Nice place!!

Love this place! It’s very clean inside and they have a blowtorch so they can sear the fish if you want it cooked - which is super cool and the only poke place I’ve seen so far offer that option.

They make some really spicy poke if you're into spicy food. Be sure to not go past 5 drops otherwise it's too spicy 🔥 Their regular non-spicy poke is delicious too 😋

Since we moved to Newark Bayside has been our go to spot with Sushi Tango shutting down after 2 decades of great sushi. I wish they offered some sort of “frequent ferry” rider as a perk but regardless we are Bayside frequent fans!

Had a great experience at Bayside Poke! They offer a nice variety of fresh poke bowls, sushi, and sashimi options. The fish was super fresh, the sauces were flavorful, and everything we tried was delicious. The staff is also very polite and friendly. Overall, a solid spot for a fresh and tasty meal!

We're on a Poke kick, and have been to 4 locations in the Bay this week. Bayside is the first one I've reviewed because the food was delicious. I'm on a low carb diet, and they let me customize the 21 Salmon bowl to have mostly salad with a small scoop of rice. The spicy mayo was delicious and the combination of flavors was excellent. My partner had the Bayside. It had a wonderful spicy aftertaste. Their fish to other ingredient ratio is much higher than many poke places. I actually wasn't able to finish. The service was excellent. My only suggestion would be to lower the music volume so customers can talk.

Like most other Poke places in the area, this one has delicious fresh fish, good service, reasonable prices and a clean space. The rice was a little hot for my taste, but otherwise my bowl was excellent. Update: Been here a few more times. Still great! Love the house sauce. So glad we've got a good Poke joint in Newark.

Flavorful bowl, interesting mixture of flavors, ranging from sweet and savory to sour and tangy. Got the vegetarian bowl, which had a good quantity of rice and tofu, among other toppings.

I went with the classic salmon and tuna, but they also have cooked options for those who prefer not to eat raw fish. Their variety of sauces is impressive.I mixed my fish with spicy mayo and unagi sauce, which was a delicious combination! If you’re craving poke, this place is definitely worth trying.

I love poke so I've tried many poke place. This one is the winner for sure. The portion is decent, fish is fresh, I can actually taste the fish, not just the sauce. Variety is OK. They have all the basic items. I'd definitely frequent this place.

Instructions on how to order are neatly labeled to the right, with different ingredient options and premade bowls to choose from. The fish is very fresh and cut in large chunks, which is what I was looking for. Good comfort food spot!

Great place. Very good amount for what you paid for, compared to others. Love the spicy drops to increase the heat. Hot cheetos for the dry toppings too.

Bayside is great for an affordable poke bowl in the bay. Their shrimp wasn’t my favorite, but the ahi was good and so were their mix in options. Staff is friendly and plenty of indoor seating.

The fish was not the most appetizing in the display. It seemed a little dry or it had been sitting around a while. Still fine to each but did not look very good.

Wife ordered the poke bowl and she liked it very much. By mistake she forgot to add the sauces/toppings when ordering online. She realized this only after coming home and opening up the box. Upon calling the owner to add the toppings he was nice enough to offer to make a new bowl without any cost. Full marks for customer service. Will go back again at some point.

This is for ordering online. So, the staff did not make our online order. And worse, when we arrived to pick it up, we were out at the back of the line, even later than customers who arrived AFTER us. It’s almost like because we had paid online, we were now hostage. In short, do NOT order online here. As for the poke itself, it’s ok. The rice is too dry. There is no spicy tuna option. The tuna and salmon were reasonably fresh. Our bowls were overflowing though, maybe because she felt bad for the ordering issue.

It was average at best. I eat Poke all the time, but my favorite place was closed today so I tried this place. The food was average, the salmon didn't seem fresh and I got a ton of rice. It was bland even with a ton of sauces. I had to come home to doctor it up. Doubt if I ever go back

Normal expensive-side pricing for poke bowls $13-15 and spam musubi $2.50. One of the many places which charge for avocado. I don't think anything stands out about here except the omnipresent adults only R&B jams, which are groovable but not in the middle of the day with my kids, eating raw fish.

The food here is good, but prices did go up a little. But on two different occasions I ordered online for a pick up order and waited 30 minutes before I went to go pick up my food only for it to be made in front of me because it wasn't ready. Both times I returned home and found that my order was incorrect and missing toppings/protein that I ordered. Food tastes good but service could use improvement.

Portions are too small compared to other poke shop. Try the other poke shop to find the most generous potions for the same $. This one has the smallest for sure.

I had been coming in to this place for more than a year now. Sometimes 3-4 times per week. Over the time I see that they had start putting less and less fish inside the bowl. It says on the menu that you get 3 scoops of fish for the regular bowl. When they release fish from the scoop into the bowl half of the fish remains or "gets stuck" inside the scoop. When asked about that ... I had received a grin and "I am sorry" but no intention of correcting the bowl.. they had also started putting in smaller portion of salad, and toppings. In the mean time the price for the bowl was increased. I am hoping that the owner reads this review and makes a corrective actions towards behavior of his / her employees,,, I will be giving it a one more chance to see if the things had returned to normal... after that it's a switch to another place...

Great service. Poor quality. Where do I begin, the first sign of something wrong was the amount of cut salmon on display, it was huge, it almost looked like a Mexican fast food joint, so I was worried about the freshness, which sadly, turned out to be not very fresh. This was the very first time that I have not finished the bowl, it tasted old and rough. It was my first time there and it will be my last. Do yourself a favor, go to any Poki Run place (there's one in Fremont) and you'll notice the difference, cause if Bayside is the ONLY place you know, I gotta tell ya, you are missing a LOT.
