We always enjoy eating at Knob Hill Tavern. Good food, good service, and nice atmosphere!
Knob Hill is my new favorite pizza place. I got some takeout the other day. I had the Reuben sandwich and fries and my girlfriend had a small pepperoni, mushrooms, onion, and green peppers pizza. The Reuben sandwich was excellent and the fries were thick with good seasoning. My girlfriend let me try her pizza and I was really surprised how good it was. Nothing on it tasted frozen or processed. I think their pizza is better than Turonis. IMO
We ordered the garlic toast and it was really good. The boneless catfish filet was also really good. My son loved their cheese pizza as well.
Great little spot with a nice outdoor area. Service was very friendly and helpful. We only had appetizers and drinks. Very chill place.
Established about 90? Yrs ago. Has been there before I was born and that’s a LONG time. Famous for their catfish fiddlers. Also have good fried chicken and chicken livers. Quaint family room with fireplace and tables for four (which can be put together for larger group. Seats about 40. Separate small bar, a few bar stools and a few booths. Seats about 20.
A well-defined, established local gem. I've eaten here many times over the years, and Knob Hill Tavern has never lost its charm. The fiddlers and fishbowls are what I come here for, and I'm never disappointed. Great food, great staff, great place.
This place is a gem out in the wild. They have this neon sign outside that really lends to the ambience. Inside they have a great little bar and seating. Bathrooms are clean. Pictures of previous president's on the wall that are signed, all in all it's a nice vibe. I ordered the gyro, cheeseburger, French dip sandwich, catfish fiddler and fried mushrooms. No I didn't eat it all, I could've but I didn't, I wanted to try out what they had. Everything was great. But the burger. You ever had a burger fresh off the grill during fourth of July? It tasted of nostalgia. It tasted like the summer breeze and fireworks at night. Like getting out of the pool while your dad is grilling to steal a burger real quick, scarf it down and go right back in the pool. It tasted like the last sweet moments of my childhood. The fried mushrooms were good too. 10/10 would eat here again.
We just got here. Drove 2 hrs. The atmosphere feels great. I ordered REAL Bluegill. Many places lie and tell you it's real knowing it isn't. My brother in law got the Fried Chicken dinner. My wife ordered the Roast beef over gravy and Imitation Potatoes. Wife said it had gravy which made it good. I didn't care for it. Everyone really enjoyed the food we ordered. So, TWO 👍 👍 UP. Glad we came. Note to owners. People come for good food not instant potatoes on "just Sundays".
I've only been in the once and in the back, but the place seemed nice. Waitress was very nice and helpful. My only two complaints is that the sweet tea is not sweet... which I get that's hit or miss at most restaurants. The other was the catfish. The breading was good and stuck, but I didn't really taste any flavor from the breading or the fish ( too clean) for my liking. All around, I would be interested in going back and seeing about other specials.
Cool place to visit. Clean and friendly. Not a ton of seating so I would recommend calling ahead. Everyone's meals were pretty good, and fairly priced. The "hot fiddler" they specialize in was ok. It's a whole fried catfish (or two). The PO boy was good as was the fried chicken. For appetizers we got catfish curls and kraut balls. The kraut balls are sour kraut and cheese filled deep fried balls. I enjoyed those the most.
This is a quaint little Tavern Restaurant, it serves pizza, catfish, and sandwiches. I had an Italian sub that was just unbelievably wonderful, best Italian sub I'd ever eaten, the wife had a Greek salad and some pizza dough with butter. Her Greek salad was good, service was friendly with a smile, everything was great. I would have given it five-stars except I saw a tall fellow with a tabletop rag drop his rag on the dirty carpet floor let it lay there and then picked it up again and wiped off the table with it, so that was kind of unsettling, but other than that, man that Italian sub was great!
Updated review 12/14/23... The food was cold and the service was bad. The hostess sat us promptly which was nice but from that point onward everything else was bad. What is most disappointing is that the restaurant wasn't even busy. Great food and great environment. Extremely generous sized catfish fiddlers!
The food was mediocre, but that's not the concerning part. The thermostat was set to 85. I overheard a waiter tell someone that the owners won't allow them to adjust it. There was no moving air, and I saw other patrons fanning themselves. This does not seem like a healthy environment for the staff, especially in the summer. Our waiter was excellent!
Two tenderloins with fries and slaw was $37. The tenderloin sandwi ches had no flavor and the slaw had a strong vinegar taste. Very disappointed with food quality.
3 of us Visited on a Monday. GREAT cold beer in a frosty fish bowl was the goal and we got it. The food was fine. We had the blue gill - tasty but the corn sticks were dry and not that great. The creamy coleslaw was fine but not memorable. We also had the Stromboli with fries - again good but not amazing. The place is in need of a deep clean and a spruce up. I’d definitely go back for a frosty beer!
Food was good but would appreciate a whole pizza and at least one water refill. The server served my pizza after they had dropped a couple of pieces. I never received a water refill when my water was empty before we received our food. Service could be improved upon.
I was told to come here and try their must have catfish filets. After a few bites I noticed a sour taste in the filet. I then peeled back the skin to notice a sour smell and a noticeable brown filet. I explained to the manager “Arron” which he proceeded to show his debating side and saying brown catfish is normal. After this conversation I was granted an (5.00) off a 17.00 dollar filet. Unfortunately I’ll be continuing to eat at finish where the catfish is not brown and also better quantity for your buck. (And when I asked the server to provide how to spell the managers he told her something that made her distressed and she came back with idk and I’m sorry. Fortunately we have the tinfish here in Newburgh that has absolutely amazing and fresh catfish for a better price. Thanks Arron for the terrible experience on trying this place for the first and last time🫶
DO NOT go here if you have food sensitivities. After waiting a very long time to get our drink order in I said I have to eat gluten free and the waitress said I don’t know what doesn’t have gluten and has no knowledge of what I can even order. Ambivalence to this degree in the food industry which has the ability to kill people by not treating food safety with respect should know better!
