The Cove deluxe burger and Seafood combo are very good. They both come with french fries. We didn't have to wait long to get our food. Service is super friendly. They have outdoor heaters for cold weather, which is really nice. It's only less than 10min walk from the Beachcomber Parking lot across the 1 Highway. Definitely recommended.
Stopped by the Shake Shack at Crystal Cove for breakfast, and it was such a great experience! The employees were super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the 2 eggs breakfast combo, and the food was good—just what I needed to start the day. But what really sets this place apart are the breathtaking beachfront views. Sitting there, enjoying a meal while taking in the ocean, was incredibly relaxing. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop for the views alone!
Very fast and punctual. Beautiful location on peak top facing the ocean down below. Lots of benches and spotless seating area. I know its famous for its milkshakes, but opted for lower cal intake. Hence tried the fish taco with fries , double cheese burger, and seafood combo. Fish taco was fulfilling and well dresses salad and sauce, loved the fries but fish is lost in between all that and lacked its taste. Burger spices and sauce has a good punch so did the cheese, but i liked less fatty meat. Seafood platter was deep fried and crispy and generous portion of well sized prawns. Not pricey. Sound give it a try. Really Beautiful location and restaurant.
Crystal Cove Shake Shack is the perfect stop along Pacific Coast Highway, offering not just food but a true California coastal experience. Perched high above the beach, the panoramic ocean views alone make this destination worth the visit. The space is well thought out, with seating for 30–40 guests and parking for roughly 20 cars. On busy days, expect a short wait about 15–20 minutes, but the efficiency of the staff keeps everything moving. Passengers can even hop out and place a to-go order, which takes about the same amount of time. Service was impressively quick for a bustling Saturday afternoon crowd. The sweet potato fries were cooked to crispy perfection, and the mahi sandwich was tender, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Families will appreciate the sturdy tables and portable chairs, seating four to six guests comfortably. Of course, no visit would be complete without one of their iconic shakes. Smooth, creamy, and nostalgic, each sip feels like a trip back to the 1950s; a perfect complement to the laid-back beach vibe. If you’re driving the coast from Los Angeles to Huntington Beach, Crystal Cove Shake Shack is a must stop spot. Two thumbs up.
The waiting time was under 10 minutes, the service, location was good with available seating. The burger and fries were good as well as the shake. I walk there from my home with the shake shack as my dining destination before heading to the beach. Great views and good food, give it a try.
Went here for dinner. The two times I've driven by here there's always a long line extending into the highway, and you have to wait before other cars pull out before being able to park. I don't know if it's always so busy, but it would make sense because their food is really good. That combined with the oceanside view makes the vibes here immaculate.
Beautiful spot with some seating overlooking the shore so you get incredible pictures like this . Parking is difficult in their tiny lot but spaces usually open up within minutes as people get their food and leave . I am sure there is also other parking nearby if you are willing to walk . Beautiful , good burger with thick patties and they dont skimp on the cheese , my husband had the fish fry and he said it was amazing . Great way to wrap up the beach day . Will be coming back today actually this picture is from September 18 .
I was on my work lunch break when I was driving down pch and noticed the Crystal Cove Shake Shack. I popped a u turn and pulled into the busy parking lot. It was busy but despite it, I was quickly at the front of the line. I was greeted with friendly staff and was given excellent service. The staff recommended I get the jalapeño burger with the sourdough cheese bread. My order was served quickly and was really delicious. I ate at an amazing ocean view. Definitely a 5 star experience, I highly recommend this establishment.
The views here cannot be beat! This diner overlooks the beach and offers scenic views while enjoying a casual meal. The line to park can backup down the road waiting for spots to become available, but it moves surprisingly fast. Order your food at the window, find yourself a seat, and they will call your number when the food is ready. They have a variety to choose from like burgers, hot dogs, and even seafood. Finish your meal off with one of their milkshakes!
Super popular place serving fast food, shakes, and drinks. Stopped by during a nice hike on the beach and the shake was a refreshing reward to help cool down on such a hot and sunny day. The location is great, right by the beach and perfect for refueling. Very busy so can be a long wait, and there is plenty of outdoor seating.
Great little spot with an ocean view. Not a typical burger fast food joint. Enjoy a good burger, fries, and a shake while enjoying a view of the ocean and Crystal Cove below and listening to Beach Boys songs. Came at 2:00 pm and we got a parking spot. Extensive shake options. Service was fast, atmosphere very pleasant, and the food worth another visit.
Amazing little spot! We are so happy to have found this place for lunch. Parking is dicey as they only have a few spots, but other reviewers said you can park up the road and then walk for about $5. We waited in line at the entrance and were able to get a spot within 5-10 minutes of waiting. We ordered the burger (comes with fries) and a chocolate shake. Everything was so delicious! The shake was super filling of course and honestly we should have just split the it all instead of ordering both a burger and fries for each of us. The ocean views are spectacular from the deck!
We had to wait in line in our car along the highway for probably 20 minutes to get a parking spot but the views and milkshake were worth the wait. I got the grilled chicken sandwich which was nothing to write home about but the fries were good. My husband got the fried fish and shrimp platter and it was delicious. The real star of the show besides the views was the banana cream milkshake we got. It was AMAZING!! Also, the service was very quick!
Loved this spot! Parking is limited and fills up quickly, especially around sunset—but if you snag a space, the outdoor patio makes it all worth it. The ocean views are incredible and create the perfect backdrop for enjoying your food. We tried the shakes and fries, and both were delicious. Service is fast and efficient: you order at the window, find a seat, and wait for your number to be called when your food is ready. Fair warning—the number calling can get pretty loud and intense, especially during busy times, since it feels like they’re calling out every minute! We actually walked here from a nearby hike, and it’s great that dogs are allowed. The area “downstairs” by the beach is also really unique and fun to explore, making this a great stop whether you’re coming off the trail or just chasing a sunset view.
Fast service, all employees were pleasant and friendly. There’s usually a line on PCH for cars waiting to park in the parking lot- looks like less than 20 parking spots. I walked up the stairs from the crystal cove beach and entered on foot. The food is comparable to in n out (I’m not from California, so pardon the comparison if you don’t agree). The price is justified by the views and the novel vibe. A regular burger comes with fries. That plus a coke was $20. Pleasantly surprised they offer alcohol and breakfast foods. Glad I got to try it. I think it’s only worth it if you sit down and enjoy the view. The food isn’t anything special.
This is a very unique restaurant. You usually have to wait a little bit for parking spaces to open up and put a table, but it is so worth it. The burgers were fantastic. The fries were just OK but the shakes were amazing. But above all the view is what you come for. It is really just a unique and amazing place.
Beautiful location for locals and tourists alike! Parking is limited. Food is no frills delicious. Ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and it’s California Classic heaven! Sundae reminds me of a McDonald’s… that’s a good thing. Location is prime! Views are heavenly! Service is friendly…. Will be back to indulge.
The staff made sure that we got an outside patio table, above and beyond service because the seating accommodation was done immediately. The short rib hash dish was savory and perfect. Compliments to Chef Carlos!!! Highly highly recommend!!! Returned to this location and likewise enjoyed 😉 photos attached...
We arrived for lunch and found the place quite crowded. We managed to get seated in the patio, which offered a beautiful ocean view. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and the food was exceptional. The chicken sandwich I ordered was particularly delicious, and the mini tacos were equally tasty. To end our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the beignets, which were simply divine. Overall, it was a delightful surprise, with a friendly and welcoming staff that made our dining experience truly enjoyable.
The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove is one of those rare Southern California spots where the setting immediately puts you in vacation mode. The restaurant sits steps from the sand and crashing waves, and between the ocean breeze and relaxed energy, it’s the kind of place you want to linger long after breakfast is over. We came for brunch and everything hit the mark. Do not leave without ordering the lemon ricotta pancakes—they’re to die for. And the brioche French toast? It’s sweet, rich, and dangerously good. Breakfast sweet treats are a must while at the Beachcomber. Reservations for weekend brunch are a must, as the restaurant stays packed from the moment it opens, and the lively atmosphere is part of the charm. Service was friendly, and our server checked in just enough without rushing us. The atmosphere is coastal casual. Parking is at the Crystal Cove lot with a short shuttle down to the beach. The shuttle is $2 per person each way, cash or card. Once you’re seated with your toes practically in the sand, it’s worth every minute. Beachcomber is less about the food—though it’s excellent—and more about the perfect California coastal moment: great bites, ocean views, and that “I could stay here all day” vibe. We’ll absolutely be back.
Perfect place for lunch on the beach at Crystal Cove. Food is simple but good quality and well executed, very friendly service. Recommend the grilled mahi fish tacos (large fish portions!) and the turkey club sandwich (not a typical stacked club, but on a roll. The turkey was excellent thick cut).
I had a wonderful breakfast — I started with an espresso that was smooth and bold, the eggs Benedict were perfectly poached with rich, creamy hollandaise that wasn’t too heavy. I finished with a mimosa that was bright and refreshing, a perfect balance of citrus and bubbles. the ideal way to wrap up the meal. A delicious, relaxing start to the day
You really could not pick a better spot. You will not get a better view, and I would think you would be hard for us to find a better beignet in Orange County, maybe California. The meals are immaculate, and our service was too. You will need to park in one of the paid parking lots and walk down the trail to The Spot but it is absolutely worth a walk; I would walk twice as far without hesitation. There is also a shuttle, but I am not sure how often it makes the run.
If you are looking for a great place on the beach to have a meal, I highly recommend the Beachcomber. We were ready for just mediocre food, as most of the places that have such a great location don't care about the food. But this place is different. Great food and atmosphere! We got a table in the "beach area". It had the best view, and even as it was further from the kitchen, the service was quick, but not so quick you felt rushed. The only downside is the wait can be an hour give or take, but you are at the beach, so we just enjoyed a walk along the beach before and after lunch. The prices are a bit high, but this is totally to be expected, and as I said, the food was of high quality so we didn't feel like we got ripped off.
Excellent food in a great location in the historic section of Crystal Cove State Park. We were able to walk in without reservations, but if you want to eat outside, I’d recommend making a reservation. The bean soup is very tasty, and the fish tacos were excellent. The ocean views are incredible! I wish we could have eaten outside. The staff is very friendly and helpful and made a great recommendation to me. You will need to park at the Crystal Cove paid parking lots ($15 for a day pass) and either walk over or take a shuttle.
A great experience right on the beach. Good food, wonderful view. Very relaxing and casual - expect people to be wearing bathing suits and beach attire. A fairly steep walk from the parking lot and there is no parking at the restaurant except a few handicap spaces. The cocktails were creative and delicious. My only comment would be that the butter cake was not at all like the butter cake I'm used to having. It was more like a sponge cake with berries and caramel; the table still ate it, however!
We enjoyed an amazing breakfast on the beach! The Beignets are to die for. Service was exceptional! This is such a cute rustic place, right on the beach. We loved all the food and enjoyed a great walk in the beach after breakfast. Parking is a little far away, but they do run shuttles. We chose to walk the state park walking trails to get there instead. Just note that there is a steep set of stairs to get to the restaurant if you walk the trail. But we didn’t feel it was too difficult. All in all super amazing breakfast experience and one we would highly recommend to anyone!!!

Great food and great ambiance enhanced by the soothing sounds of waves breaking on the beach only a few feet away. The Beachcomber has never disappointed us!
Sweet little Cafe right on the beach. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for out table (delicious bloody mary!). Amazing view & delicious shrimp & Mahi tacos. Service was attentive. Gotta visit
The group I was with made a last minute choice to eat at this location. It has a great atmosphere. We were on vacation and have never tried Shake Shack before. We went on a Sunday around 3pm after visiting the beach and it was busy. We were hungry and made a large order. The food took awhile but it was busy, so that was to be expected. My group had to split up as seats became available. They do not have that much seating but once you have seating it has a nice view of the ocean. Food with a view. I'm glad I tried Shake Shack by the ocean rather then another location. The fish and chips were good! The hamburger tasted like a hamburger nothing special. The shakes tasted like you would want a shake to taste like. I think the whole group was satisfied with their food. If you are visiting the beach this location is worth going to. It's a walk up the stairs from Crystal Cove beach. It's not worth trying to travel to if you're not already at the beach. It doesn't have a lot of traditional parking.
I went with a jalapeño deluxe burger and Cajun fries. The food was good. I wouldn't say it's anywhere near the top 10 burgers I've ever had but it was good. They just added pickled jalapeños for a dollar and added some seasoning on the fries for even more. The view was incredible and it was a good experience to go to at least once. If you want the best burger I would seek elsewhere.
Went here with friends and it was early in the morning and after the rain. Right on the beach so great view and location. You have to park the other side of the street and there is a mini bus taking you over to the lodge/motel but you have to walk down to it, then pass the lodges, into the sand/water in order to get to the restaurant. The place is small but with great vibe and definitely great view of the ocean. Service is excellent and very friendly. We ordered bunch of foods. They all tasty but nothing special. Prices wise, expensive but you have to remember that you’re paying for the location so. Worth it? Sure once in awhile for sure. It is a great place to hangout, chill with friends or family and walk along the beach afterward or prior. Overall, very cool place with good foods and great services plus fantastic view.
You are paying for location, location here. You can't beat the views from here and you eat basically on the beach. You can't get closer unless you pack your own food. There is always a wait for walk up so I would suggest you make a reservation. Even with a reservation, you may wait a little. We tried the ahi poki tacos from apps, ribs dinner plate, mushroom & truffle mac & cheese, fries and lemon mouse. The Ahi poki were good but the crust tasted a little stale to me. I wish they had more of a crunch but good. Great value for ribs dinner plate. The cream corn was more of corn, not overly creamy and the ribs had a lot of fat on it. They can't control that but I felt like it was more fat then meat. But good. Mushroom & Truffle mac & cheese was on the watery side. If you are thinking it's a thick, rich mac & cheese, it is not that. Fries were good-could have been a little hotter. And I thought I was ordering lemon mouse cake but it was more of a mouse cup. Overall, good dinner and fun to treat yourself once in awhile.
It's all about the atmosphere of right in the beach! Fantastic location. The food is adequate. A bit overpriced for what is. Service is adequate as it is very busy so just be patient and enjoy the views. If you are not staying in the cottages it can be a bit getting there bit it is not difficult. Parking is across PCH abs you can walk by trail and under tunnel but I would recommend taking the bus trolly that will bring you there from the parking lot at least the first time so you know where to go. Enjoy! PS make a reservation!
We visited around 10 am and ended up waiting about an hour to be seated, plus another 15–20 minutes for our meal to arrive. The restaurant was very busy, and it looked like everyone had a long wait to get in. Parking was also inconvenient—we had to park across the street and pay $20!! The food was tasty and enjoyable, but the service felt a bit slow, likely because there weren’t enough servers to keep up with the crowd. Overall, it was a good meal, but the wait time and parking situation made the experience less comfortable.
Beachcomber is always packed but has such a good vibe with the beach view and ocean breeze. Came with a group and we all left full and happy. I got the shrimp tacos and they were bomb gone in seconds. Fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of sauce. The calamari was definitely the big hit for the table we ended up ordering it twice and the sauce or aioli that came with it made it even better. Drinks here are just as good as they look and everyone at the table had something different and all were solid. The beignets were alright they were super fluffy but honestly too airy for me not much doughy thickness like I usually like. So they were mid honestly. The chocolate sauce with powdered sugar was just a no for the whole table and kind of an odd combo. Even with how busy it was the service was sweet and attentive. They kept checking in and making sure we had what we needed which was nice through the craziness. The views and atmosphere make it a great spot to hang out and enjoy good seafood and drinks.

Breakfast review only: View isn’t bad, but expected more from it and the food from the constant crowds. Waffles were definitely premade and just thrown on the grill to warm up. Very dry and stale taste. Potatoes were mostly peppers and onions. Eggs were incredibly runny for a scramble. Bacon was just cheap and fatty. Sysco foods. Enough of a bad experience to not want to try lunch.
The only thing going for this place are the views. If they put an In N Out or Chick Fil A here, you bet I'd make the drive to LA often but for this Shake Shack? Nope. We stopped by Sunday around 1pm and the crowd wasn't too bad. The views are fantastic and there's no better way to enjoy your lunch. We ordered a few items and all were just disappointing: Cove Deluxe Cheeseburger with fries. The bun was soft and airy and the patties were juicy but also greasy and chewy. They had a weird flavor and the veggies or cheese didn't help cover it up. The fries were undercooked and cold. The fish in the fish and chips were oily , not fried well like the fries, and the fish was dry and tough. The tartar sauce was weirdly and overly sweet while the coleslaw hardly had any dressing. As for the shakes, they were liquidy as soon as I picked them up from the window. They aren't thick at all and made with clearly the same base which brings for a very bland and mild shake. I tried the banana cream which had a lot of banana chunks and hardly any caramel drizzle in the cup but there was also barely any banana flavor if you weren't getting a piece of banana. The chocolate shake was just not chocolatey enough and even the color was so pale it's like you ordered a vanilla shake with some chocolate drizzled in. All in all, $50+ for this meal is just going for their rent and your views. The food is not worth it at all.
This used to be one of our favorite places, which made this experience even more disappointing. We went yesterday to celebrate my husband's birthday, and unfortunately, it fell far short.\nWe order…

I was walking with my wife and children. We saw this wonderful place on the oceanfront. I went to the counter and asked if they could seat us at any table. I was told the waiting time was two and a half to three hours. We walked on. Further along the shore, we saw a terrace with tables. There were three free tables there. It turned out that this terrace belonged to the same restaurant. We decided to sit at one of the tables, as we needed to feed the children, and there were free tables anyway. A waiter approached us, and I asked if we could have a menu; we wanted to order food and drinks. We were refused a menu. They said we had to go through the hostess desk, and they would give us a menu there – the same place where we were told the wait was 3 hours. We started feeding our 3-year-old daughter. A minute later, the same waiter returned and said that we had to leave the restaurant and kicked us out, justifying it by saying that someone else was going to be seated at that table. We went to the ocean shore nearby and fed the children there. While we were sitting there for an hour, no one was seated at that table, and the neighboring tables gradually became free. We just wanted to sit down nicely, feed the children, and spend money at this place. This is how these arrogant places with good locations lose their money.
