From the start a WARM GREETING from owners Jeff & Geremie Cocktails Creative, Appitizers Fried Oysters and Cold Corn Soup set the mood with their Crispy Texture and Sauce providing nice heat, the Corn Soup offered a Sweet & Creamie balance with a Remarkable Finish with a Smear of Basil Oil. Entrees came and the Celebration became Center Stage starting with Perfectly Grilled Black Sea Bass & Lemon Curd, Arugula Pesto Risotto Wild Caught Shrimp. Mussels & Scallops, then my dish the Seared Sea Scallops with Pillowy Hand Cut Gnocchi with their Melt in your Mouth Texture was Heavenly. A Perfect Meal for a Perfect Evening. Our first day in Newport for our short 3 Day Excursion the Bar was set high for our next few days of Dinning. 🍸🍷🍽
Amazing staff! The wine list is extensive but they'll give you great recommendations and then let you try before you buy. Even just the different types of appetizer bread were scrumptious and the food was equally as lovely. Great atmosphere, and easy location on the wharf
Excellent seafood! Great spot for a special date night. The scallop stuffie, seafood trio and tautog were all incredible - can’t wait to come back!
Wonderful as always! Food, service attention, atmosphere, everything! A real local treasure! Highly recommended;
Amazing food ambient and service, pictures dont make justice to how beautyful and tasty it was, thanks guys for provide such a place to have an amazing expirience 🙏🙏🙏❤️👍👌
Great value. The seafood risotto was light and tasty. Seafood was fresh. 5 stars!
In addition to being one of Newport's great fine dining restaurants, Fluke happens to be the place to get an amazing cocktail.
Amazing staff, very good atmosphere, and the food was absolutely lovely
This restaurant is an amazing place. The Ocean Drive cocktail was so refreshing, with the combination of mint, lime juice, cucumber and gin! Quite good! The sea scallops were tremendous, the best that I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The added squid was very complimentary as it added another dimension of complexity. Enjoy a meal here! Have a glass of wine with it! The owners' selection is pretty spectacular. The owners are very accommodating and will make you feel very welcomed!
Wonderful bar and restaurant serving fabulous food and cocktails in a cozy setting. Go before they close permanently at the end of the year!
The food it was good and the service amazing.
We enjoyed the scallop stuffy for an appetizer that was out of this world! And the Seafood cassoulet was my main course. Both dishes were unique which is why we keep coming to Fluke. The wait staff are always friendly and the restaurant has the Newport feel. Fluke is a must when you're in Newport!
Went there during restaurant week. Hands down a wonderful experience!!! The food AND service was on point from all the staff. The owner was so personable and friendly. My husband and I tried the crispy Wellfleet oysters and lobster gnocchi for apps. Entree was skate and perfectly seared scallops. Desserts: bread pudding and pana cotta. Finished off the night with a delicious espresso cocktail. Absolutely delicious! The decor and the views are beautiful! Definitely will be going back! 👍
Great atmosphere & view. Food is unique and Devine. The Lobster Suffie is a perfect example. Excellent wine list. Heather was our server & would definitely request her again. Very hospitable.
My wife and I were planning to go and eat at "The Mooring" on a busy Sunday night, but didn't have a reservation, so decided to check out couple more local restaurants. Didn't expect much by just walking to the first random restaurant at the wharfs, but were surprised to find an amazing food and beautiful views on the top floor of the building. Friendly stuff (including the owner of the restaurant who served us) and great selection of food. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some tasty modern american cuisine.
This was the highlight of our Newport trip! We were there for 3 nights, had several meals, and Fluke was BY FAR the best meal we had. We had a great seat, upstairs by the window, we got to see the sun set which was absolutely beautiful. We ordered so many things, and one was better than the next! First and foremost, the Cuarto de Tula cocktail was UH-MAZING. It was a mezcal cocktail with House-Made Strawberry Preserve, Fresh Lemon & Basil -- highly recommend. For apps, we got Fluke Crudo, tuna tartare, Marcona Almond Filled Dates, Chilled Corn Soup, Local Heirloom Tomato Salad, and the oysters. I'm a newby fish eater, and i devoured ALL of this. It all was so fresh, nothing tasted fishy, and all had so much flavor. I think my favorite app was the tuna and the chilled corn.. but also the dates.. too many to choose from because they were all honestly amazing. For mains we got the Spinach Cavatelliᴳ (with/without) Baffoni Farm Chicken, Seared Scallops and the Arugula Pesto Risotto. We all were so in love, but very very full at this point. All three of these dishes had so much flavor and honestly just melted in your mouth. The pasta was homemade too. drool. Lastly, dessert. We had a round of sherry and the peach walnut crisp. SO GOOD. highly recommend. In addition to the food being absolutely amazing, the owner came over to us and introduced himself, asked how our evening was and made us feel very special. You very rarely find restaurants where the owner will come out and mingle with the guests and it's truly a lovely touch that adds a uniqueness the experience. I can't wait to visit again!
A must try for anyone heading to Newport for dinner. We selected Fluke for our wedding rehearsal dinner venue. We were not able to have our event due to COVID but have dined at Fluke several times now as a result. Every time we dine at Fluke, the food is absolutely out of this world. The menu is constantly changing based on what they can get fresh. The cocktails are also absolutely incredible. Geremie, one of the owners, is so welcoming and attentive, making sure we had anything and everything we needed, and made each dining experience special. We have dined at multiple Newport venues and Fluke stands above them all in our opinion.
Fluke is at the top of our list of dining options in Newport. Great food, friendly and down to earth staff and a fabulous view made this an outstanding and memorable meal. We were more than impressed with the selection of specialty cocktails and wines and we could not have asked for a better meal and overall experience. We can't wait for our next visit to Fluke and it is no doubt, one of Newport's Best Restaurant's.
Had the MOST AMAZING anniversary dinner at Fluke in Newport. Truthfully the best dinner my husband and I have ever had. Chef Eddie knows how to make delicious AND beautiful food. The owners Jeff and Geremie have a wonderful restaurant and we can’t wait to return!
The best part of dining there, besides the food being great, the wine list very good and the server being a pro was the attention paid to us by Jeff, one of the owners. He so went out of his way to make sure everything was in order abs it truly was. We will go back soon!!
Geremie and her staff were simply amazing when executing our rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago. During the planning stages, we had been visiting different restaurants around Newport, trying to find the perfect spot for the rehearsal dinner. We had been to 22 Bowen's, The Mooring and Sardella's but all three seemed a bit too much and a bit too impersonal for what we were looking for. Our last stop was Fluke Wine Bar & Kitchen and we really just fell in love with the place. The food was amazing and the building was more comfortable than the others. We stopped for dinner on a busy night, but even still Geremie, one of the owners, took the time to show us around and explained to us what they could do for a rehearsal dinner. We were sold and mailed in our deposit within the next week. When it got closer to the date of the dinner, we set a menu with Geremie and arranged for a cocktail hour before dinner at the beautiful bar on the 3rd floor. The view was absolutely stunning. There were appetizer plates and a couple cheese plates for the cocktail hour and for dinner there were 3 courses with a ton of different options. Dinner was down on the 2nd floor and we had our own little room off from the rest of the restaurant and they had personalized menus printed up for us. I think the majority of our guests went with the roasted chicken for their main course and are still raving about it. It was simply delicious. Along with the food being amazing, the service was impeccable. Geremie herself was there the entire time and everyone was incredibly personable. We definitely made the right decision with Fluke for our rehearsal dinner and we highly recommend it. We can't wait to go back soon!
After reading MANY reviews from different platforms I decided on "Fluke" for our wedding anniversary dinner and let me tell you... they did not disappoint. From the atmosphere to our server, Scott, EVERYTHING was perfect. I can only hope to come back soon to try to rest of the menu! FANTASTIC
An all around memorable experience. The staff was attentive and polite. The restaurant itself was set up in a very comfortable manner. The food was delicious. Easy five star rating.
A fabulous experience sitting by the window with a wonderful view. Starting with a great assortment of cocktails, followed by crispy oysters, the quail and a number of small plates makes a great meal to share. Save room for the dessert - goat cheesecake is delicious.
Looking for a relaxed atmosphere with great food? Phenomenal place to find it! Great staff with food that has an American twist on dishes inspired from around the world. No gimmicks here! Real food from real people made with real passion. Thank you!
Last night was our first visit to Fluke. Everything about our experience was just perfect. The food was moan worthy (yes I think I did moan after my first bite of their scallop dish) and the staff was very attentive. It was a dining experience and not just a meal.
Excellent seafood! The dishes are well prepared, delicious, and use high quality ingredients. The desserts are fantastic, too, and the bartender makes the best Mojitos I've ever had.
Excellent food and service. Loved our waitress Melanie and her recommended entree. The pan seared scallops with toasted black rice was so flavorful. Went very well with the tender scallops. And my husband’s Lobster saffron Angel hair pasta was out of this world! And we ended it with a delicious Whoopi Pie dessert made to perfection! Kudos to Chef Eddie for his creation and who took the time to visit our table.
Came during restaurant week and let me tell you, absolutely superb. The restaurant week menu offered quite a lot of variety, and what we got was DELICIOUS!!! From the appetizer to the dessert, the cocktails and raw oysters, our dining experience was amazing, plus the overall atmosphere feels very beach side vacation-like with an airy, modern touch. I will be dreaming about the chicken for quite some time until I return, I hope very soon. The salmon crepinette was a touch salty, and the mushroom lasagna had some flavor and texture left to be desired, but overall the food was excellent
Highly recommend Fluke to anyone who wants to have an absolutely delicious meal, with outstanding service and atmosphere. My boyfriend, friend and I dined at Fluke for dinner on a Saturday evening, and it was the highlight of our Newport weekend. Every dish was better than the last, and the owner was so kind and seemed to sincerely care that we had an excellent dining experience. More than once, we saw the owner stop by every table just to say hello or make sure they were enjoying their meal. In addition, all of the staff was kind and warm throughout and we never felt rushed to turnover the table (which I'm sad to say was the not the norm during our other meals in Newport that weekend). All in all, 10/10 would recommend Fluke to anyone in Newport.
The seafood is fresh and excellently prepared. Seasoning works very well with the fish without taking away from the freshness. Using their own blueberries is an excellent touch. And the cocktails are superior both in ingredients and in how they are served. The service was excellent. A five star experience.
I had one of the best appetizers I’ve ever ordered (seafood trio) and an entree that elicited an emotional response. The Lobster Squid Ink Angel Hair with Pecan Cream was the best pasta dish I’ve ever had, and that includes an Italian Michelin Star place in Tuscany. I was full, and refused to let that stop me from finishing the plate.
My wife and I decided to try Fluke for my 30th birthday dinner. We called for reservations earlier in the day and got one of the last tables. When we showed up our table wasn't close to being ready. We were offered complimentary wine and after 15 minutes offered another table. That table ended up being in a room with a very large, loud party and after our meal they moved our table and offered us complimentary dessert. The staff went out of their way to make up for things that were out of their control. The food is excellent. I had the duck empinaditas and the lambs chops and both very fantastic. The service is equally as excellent. Attentive, polite and hardworking. I would definitely recommend checking this place out for a nice candlelit dinner in Newport.
The food was excellent - the seafood was perfectly cooked and dishes were delightful. The service was wonderful as well. And as a whiskey enthusiast, there was an added bonus - the selection of bourbon and American whiskey is phenomonal, including quite a few rareties that I had never laid eyes on.
What a spectacular hidden gem in Newport. I stumbled upon Fluke by accident and I am so happy I did! From the moment we were greeted by the hostess to the end of our meal, we felt truly special. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was top notch. I would highly recommend Fluke for anyone looking to enjoy a special meal in Newport. My husband and I will definitely return!
The California bread was delicious and wish I ate more of it. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly!
While the food was excellent, and our waitress was wonderful -- I have a hard time recommending this restaurant. At the end of our meal, when we were all quite happy with the restaurant, we get a visit from the owner/manager. He tells us that this is the bad part of his job, to let us know we had been there for 2 hours and 40 minutes, and he needed to turn the table around. I fully understand the need to turn a table around, but we didn't even have the check yet! We can't leave until we have the check. The owner didn't even ask the waitress to bring our check over, he just came over and made us feel bad for enjoying our dinner / drinks. We had been eating / drinking the entire time. We ordered 2 rounds of appetizers, dinner, a few rounds of drinks throughout, and a single round of after dinner coffees. It's not like we were nursing an appetizer and a beer. For $8 per scallop (the dish was $32 and had 4 scallops, they were delicious however) I would expect better customer service. We asked for him to come back to explain why we were unhappy, and he told us that we were wrong, and the best way for him to handle it was to tell us we had to leave before we had the check. He walked away and shook his head.
Exciting & Fun Small Plates, Very Nice Selection of Wines, Fresh Creative Dishes From the Sea. My Favorite Table Upstairs Left of the Bar in front of the Windows and a Great View. Great Cheese Boards. Their Opened Only For Dinner.
Our waitress was fabulous. Dinner was very good. I just thought the place was LACKING in atmosphere, it was all very outdated. From the moment you walk up the stairs and see the big, fat banister and spindles like you see in an old ski chalet to the rounded oak chairs that have been around since the 80's. The food was good, but would not go back because it was not very hip and I like to go out to a good placed based on service, food and atmosphere.
I recently had dinner at Fluke. I was impressed by the decor and the view of the Newport waterfront. The lighting and the atmosphere are very conducive to an intimate dinner for two, and I think that drinks at the bar would be a great idea for a date. The service was also prompt, friendly, and attentive, going the extra mile to make sure that we were happy with our drink choices. That said, I found the menu to be a mixed bag. The desserts were wonderful -- I hate cheesecake, and I unreservedly recommend their goat's cheesecake. The small plates were a mixed bag -- I spent a lot of time looking for the salt cod in the salt cod croquettes, and the coconut shrimp didn't have much taste, but the white bean soup was good.
Very good selection of wines and bourbons/whiskeys. I'm impressed by the selection, the food, and friendliness of the staff but I wasn't impressed by the liquor knowledge of the bartenders. Both of them tonight did not seem well-versed in bourbons, I feel they should have been given that this bar has all three Van Winkle whiskeys (rare) and three Weller bottles (fairly rare) on the menu.
Extremely disappointed, high prices, not enough food. The cheese platter looked almost comical. Three small pieces of cheese, 2 pieces of bread 4 almonds and a smear of chutney. We practically had to beg for bread. Our server had a bit of an attitude as well. Don't go here if you're hungry. I gave it 2 stars because the food was good but the portions were ridiculous.
My main course was terrible. I had the Risotto with mussels, shrimp and scallops. The Risotto was way undercooked! You could literally separate the liquid from the grain. Very disappointed after having read the reviews. Service was good and lots of points for ambiance. Lovely service staff.
We went with clients last week. Food was ok but the portions on my dish were silly. $38 for 3oz of stripe bass for a main dish. Come on it's not an uncommon fish in RI...they are everywhere! My fried oyster app came out the size of quarters. We have so many oysters in RI a chef has to know they will shrink when fried. All you tasted was the fried batter. Use large oysters guys they are the same price. You're not a french dinning ! I did't complain in the front of our guests and this is the 3rd poor review I have given in my 57 years living.
Never going back. They have a strict policy of "No substitutions", even on a Monday night, when it is slow, because someone there is a Prima Donna. Considering that their entrees are pricey, and each comes with about 3 things other than the meat or fish, you're bound to end up with something you don't like on your plate. Too bad. I'm not going back, so I won't ever have this problem. Even going this once was a fluke, considering I've never heard anyone recommend it. Surprised they are still here, considering that there are 8 restaurants within 300 yards that are better. Chicken was above average, but nothing special, portions are small, and the appetizers are really small. I did give it an additional star because the customer service of the hostesses, bartenders and wait staff is great. They should form a coup and get rid of the chef staff, management, and owner.
I was very disappointed with my experience at Fluke. The woman who greeted us at the door was extremely rude, she couldn’t find our reservation right away so we patiently tried to clear that up but she gave us so much attitude and spoke down to us. She then told us we could only stay for an hour which was fine with us, but we were rushed the entire time. When we told her we were doing apps and drinks rather than a full dinner she rolled her eyes and used a nasty tone. Also, I had asked if the Cobb salad would be big enough to split and as she was walking away said “yeah, yeah it’s very big” without even having the decency to finish her sentence without walking away, and when the salad arrived it was TINY! It was about 1/6 of a head of iceberg.. not enough for 3 people to split, let alone 2. The other servers were nice enough, but we felt rushed and unwanted the entire time. It was the strangest and rudest dining experience I have ever had and will not back. Do not recommend.
Rude and very unprofessional!!! We had reservations!!!! Manager attempted to sit us upstairs in a room with no AC, fan in window, no candles and no white table cloths as opposed to the main dining room that had plenty of available seating, white table cloths, candles, and AC. Manager stated”I have a great table for you upstairs “. REALLY!!!! Waitress seemed to be overwhelmed with her duties. Eat somewhere else!!!
If you want to OVERPAY for your meal and be HARASSED by the owner, go to Fluke. We had the worst dining experience. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday, sitting on the top floor near the window. The sun was bright and the owner kept opening the shade causing the sun to blind us. We kept lowering the shade so we can enjoy our meal. Not only did he keep bothering us, he kept reaching over people that were dining to straighten out pictures on the wall. He kept cleaning the glass on a window next to another set of patrons. Instead of spending time asking patrons how they liked their meal he harassed them. During a time an owner should appreciate the business, he acted like an old obnoxious fool. In addition, the food was just okay. It was overpriced for the quality. We have spent a lot of money in different restaurants and do not mind if the food was worth it. At Fluke, the food was not worth it. There are so many other places that have better quality food for the price.
Terrible dining experience! Had a sitter and excited to have a relaxing dinner. Ordered from the “snack” section in the menu while we enjoyed a cocktail and were told we had to place our whole order together. Annoying, as we wanted to take time and look over the menus but we obliged requesting time between courses to finish our cocktails. Our meal came within minutes, literally didn’t even have a chance to order a glass of wine! Still cost $120 for dinner and were out in 30minutes! Rip off experience.
8/27/21, Very DISAPPOINTED!!!!! We went there for our 5th Anniversary with friends. We had reservations at 8:30pm, walked up to 3rd floor. They greeted ask, I told them we have a reservations for 4. While we were waiting for our table, my friend notice I a stains on my dress. The woman owner gave me a spray and wash to washed of the stains of my dress. We went to seat down on our table, she came over to greet us. My friends ask for a fan because the room was kind of warm. She ignored us completely and walked away. Came back few minutes later, reach over, grabbed my drink....I said to her i was still drinking it. She reply, NOT anymore!!! With NO explanation, We all looked at each other shocked! I said that was kind of rude!!! Plus the whole time we were there she give walking by and look at us like we were the rude one towards her. My husband and our friends ordered the steak and the portion was small and dry, my meal was also small, NOT worth the price. I won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone, unless you want to be treated rude and badly. We won't be coming back here again!
