I should have written a review years ago! We used to live four blocks away, and walked to the restaurant a couple times each week. Now we live in the Valley, and don't get there as often. The food is always amazingly delicious, and the portions are generous! Totally our favorite Thai restaurant!!! We get to their other restaurant in Valley Village more often now, and have been amazed how the food is equally superb! My wife wanted to add one more touch, quite jass music in the background that doesn't distract from our conversations.
We were staying in the area for a youth baseball tournament and ended up getting takeout here twice during our short trip. Over two meals we had the papaya salad, pad see ew, green curry, chicken larb, fried hainan chicken and the drunken noodles. All were good. Even tried a couple of the fruit ice teas that were excellent. If we are in the area again I would go back. The ladies working there were all very nice.
Had the spicy rustic pumpkin curry and it was healthy and delicious for lunch. Have the black rice. Yum!!
This restaurant is absolutely FANTASTIC! My family of 4 stopped by after a full day at Universal Studios. To say the least, we were exhausted and ravenous, and the Rustic Spoon delivered! We ordered five separate dishes, and each was absolutely delicious! It was the best Thai food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The atmosphere and service was tremendous as well. Our server, Oak, was exceptionally friendly and was wonderful with my kids. Coincidentally, it was my oldest son's birthday, and Oak went out of his way to surprise my son with a special mango flan complete with a candle! My son was so incredibly delighted. Thank you, Rustic Spoon, for a truly wonderful dining experience. We very much look forward to our next visit!
This is one of the best Thai cuisines that I have been to. The staff was friendly and the food was even better. Great selection of dishes, my personal favorite is the pad see ew with broccoli and beef.
This is only in regards to the Phò: it’s absolutely brilliant. Best, most consistent, quality phò for a good price in my five years of pho-ing in LA. And it’s a charming little spot. Be advised it gets very busy almost every night and they don’t take reservations. Also, they don’t seem to have AC so it can be quite sweaty, even more so in summer.
I have been to this place on several occasions— for both dine in and take out. I love it. The food is delicious and the staff is hospitable and friendly. I especially love Krapow with tofu, all the appetizers and the Tom Yum soup!
The RUSTIC SPOON is a low key charming eatery in No Ho with an expansive menu. First of all, an $11 Bbq chicken entree comes with a generous helping of jasmine rice and a fresh green salad . (no extra charge for the sides) I used to go here a lot and yesterday returning I remember why. They serve you cold water ( cucumber infused) in a metal cup. Such a nice touch! The menu is large and varied. The Thai curry and soups are standouts. Also the Appetizers can substitute for entrees. The Appetizer Calimari with a dipping sauce is the most delicious EVER !! It competes with seafood in Bangkok or 🇮🇹 Italy. There is a covered patio with heaters and ample tables and benches inside. Very nice and accommodating staff insures a pleasurable dining experience at ease for your pocketbook.
One of the best places in LA for Thai food! The service at Rustic Spoon is always on point!
Great place, tried the pho and it was delicious, the portions are very good.
This was a very small dining restaurant but the service, atmosphere and food was AWESOME!!! Highly recommend.
Such a cute restaurant!! Food and service were amazing. The hostess/ waitress was so nice and provided great service! We got the pad se ew and pad thai. We would def come again :)
Where i s t start this place is awesome never had this food and it off the chain definitely recommended
The food is amazing and the staff are soooo sweet and friendly
Excellent Service, Atmosphere, and Food. Curry was very good with generous meat portions. Bathrooms were very clean. Would definitely come back
Very friendly staff, food was great had the sirloin pho, fresh beef rolls, and veggie egg rolls where delicious. Finished everything on our plates! This was a good find
My first time they were visiting this restaurant. They have Vegan and vegetarian options! The food was delicious and was served quickly. The tables were clean. They had only one bathroom, but it was clean and neat. Parking is metered street parking, but many meters are along the street. We found free street parking near the body shop close to the restaurant. I got the Pad to see ew, minus the egg. It was delicious! I liked the atmosphere here, and according to my server, they do not use MSG in their food. They offer both inside and outside sitting. No beer or any other alcoholic beverages.
Wow .this is an elegant Parisian inspired cafe with deep green banquets, bamboo black and white cafe chairs , chandeliers and orchids , lovely music plays so chic !!! great for date night, food is beautiful as it is delicious amazing . We ordered the chicken Panang Curry and Pineapple shrimp rice , they put tiny flavorful tomatoes in the rice , blew my mind ! The tea opens up into a flower amazing Service is wonderful .what a pleasant surprise .
Delicious khao soiiiiii! This is not a popular Thai spot but still tasty. I enjoy every I ordered from the menu
Amazing experience! We were pleasantly surprised and impressed at how nice this place it. The food was delicious. Tried the pineapple fried rice and garlic chicken with black rice. 10/10 experience - will definitely be back!
Amazing, authentic food that came out in 10 minutes! One of the best Thai places I’ve been to!
Amazing Taste and very good food! The peanut sauce for the veggie spring rolls is amazing. The pad Thais has a very good somewhat sweet taste. Just add a little lemon and it makes the flavors pop out. Highly recommended. Their drinks are also very good and lunch specials are reasonably priced. will be coming back soon!
My sisters & I came in on Jan. 3, 2025 it was very tasty & good environment to eat inside or out. The service was really nice along with the food, very flavorful! We usually come to get laser done down the way & happy to finally find a good place to eat after our appointments. Waiter had thought something was wrong bcz my sister didn’t tip but my other sister had tipped. This was the only thing that made things awkward. I apologize but not everyone can tip. This is the 1st time we had the waiter say, “To fill in the tip part on the recite.” Other than that everything was really nice & the thai tea was really good! Definitely looking forward to going back. I’ll update with more pics :)
Great little spot wonderful food, and service. If you are looking for a little get-away a break from the norm.... you've found it. Also just down the street from Coffee Bean, Starbucks, also local coffee, Local Cigar shop, and other great Business including--*-- Universal Studios, less than 1 mile away. They have inside & outside seating. It's right next to a wonderful old church with a bell tower, that chimes every so often, and has a very chill outta the way atmosphere. Also a nice clean spacious bathroom. Recommended. Especially for lovers of authentic Thai w/ a twist of spice & fun!!!
I discovered this restaurant in 2020 and it never disappoints! The wonderful ladies that work here are always on top of orders and always greeting everyone with a smile. My usual is the Pad Thai with shrimp, along with a delicious Thai Tea. Highly recommend! I’ve been to the Rustic Spoon in Valley Village once. Food wasn’t as good as Toluca Lake location!
Great service. Drove many times and this time stop. Let them know Diverone from Google Maps
Such a cute and charming spot! The tom kha soup was very tasty, and the green curry was so yummy. Lightly spicy and very flavorful. They also have a great selection of delicious iced teas.

We came here for lunch on a weekday. Parking's a little tricky. They have a couple slots right behind the building in a little parking lot. Spaces are very small. If not they're street parking but we found that all the parking on the restaurant side of the street was taken but the parking across the street which is also metered was open. We were able to get a table and a patio which was nice because it was a nice sunny day and we got to enjoy the good weather. The portions on the food is decent so you may or may not need an appetizer but but I really like the roti with the curry sauce here. We also got the drinking noodles which had more sauce than I'm used to on them but they were very delicious. We got basil eggplant with tofu which came with rice and that was really good too. I got the the lychee pomegranate spritzer and that was really refreshing. I do like coming to this place when I am in Southern California for a visit.
Everything about this place is stellar. The food, service, portion size, cleanliness, is all great. Our waitress, Pear, was so nice! My panang mussel curry was delicious, and I'm glad I ordered it. Everything was wonderful, and I will definitely be back!
All the classic dishes and more... Good for dates, families, and solo diners. If you can't make it, take out is a good option.

The place is small and there are not that many tables however the food is absolutely fantastic and really good value for money. My friends who introduced me to the place are real fans already and could not stop talking about every item on the list. I thoroughly enjoyed the drunken noodles dish with really flavorful red curry sauce and we ordered Satay to share which was so much better that the typical mini skewer we are accustomed to receiving in other Thai restaurants. It's a popular place on the weekend so I highly recommend trying to go during the week. Strong recommendation from me.
Ordered the panagan curry with tofu. The rice was a little under cooked and the curry was very cream but I wish there was more veggies and the tofu wasn't just slabs but overall food was good. Very cute spot too!

Thai-forward asian food with a robust drink selection too. We tried the drunken noodles and the glazed cod, both were tasty. Also try the lychee drink!
Came to eat here because it’s close to Universal Studios. Quaint spot with great service, but the food lacked flavor. Some dishes (like the yellow curry and drunken noodles) were sweeter than we expected. Disappointed there’s no pork option for entrées—I really wanted it with the basil eggplant. Grandpa was also bummed they don’t serve alcohol at this location (as of 6/2025), unlike their other one. Calamari was good, but didn’t really stand out.
Everything tasted excellent except for one detail that I find very important. PLASTIC PLATES. I loved this place when they used to serve you on real plates and glassware. Please do not serve your delicious meal on melting plastic plates (read the science!) Other than that, the recipes are delicious!
Overall a mixed experience at Rustic Spoon. We really enjoyed the Fresh Veggie Spring Rolls. I also loved my fruit tea it was sweet and delicious. I am bummed however because neither my wife nor I enjoyed the flavors of our mains. We got steak and udon noodles and the steak was fairly good and well cooked but the noodles had a very off taste. The pad thai had a similar flavor like it had been cooked in a pan that wasn't clean or had residual flavors. We normally love Thai food and flavors - maybe this is just how this spot prepares theirs but it just wasnt for us!
I was excited to try this place out. I thought thai and vietnamese fusion would have a lot of flavor. The dishes look great but was missing the flavor. I had to ask for chili paste to finish my meal. The pad thai was a bit oily for my taste. The thai tea was the highlight of the meal. It tasted like thai tea and came in a good size cup. Over all I was disappointed because the price did not justify the lack of taste in the dishes I order.
Tom kah soup was below average. It's lacking the typical depth of flavor. Filet mignon pho was super tender, soup base was good. Crispy pork was super crispy. But spinach tastes weird and the sauce was over powerful. Wish it was on the side. We found parking behind the restaurant but the restaurant only had a few tables. Not sure where to park during a normal day.

This used to be my go to place for a lot of occasions not only eating out. I would also recommend this for producers that wanted to grab something on their way to work. Great, cozy meeting spot as well. I stopped ordering last year because I felt that food started to be inconsistent quality wise and was swimming in oil. Last week I had to grab something quick because I worked late the day before and I had my in-law over. The food was excellent, I forgot completely why I stopped ordering in the first place and I feel in love again with Rustic Spoon. I couldn’t wait to order again for my husband to also have it warm and fresh. I wanted to order on Friday but I start work when the restaurant opens so I was super excited to have it on today.(finally it’s Monday). Unfortunately the food wasn’t the same. The noodles, especially the Drunken ones were in a soup of oil, overcooked and mushy, didn’t feel fresh at all. Probably the noodles were previously cooked and they were recooked in the oils where they become mush. The flavor was good but the consistency….
Very friendly people. The food was unfortunately poor. We ordered Yellow curry with chicken and Crab fried rice. The curry had absolutely no spiciness to it, only the taste of curry. The chicken in the curry were 2 inch pressed cubes of chicken, and cold inside. In fact the whole meal was just barely warm. Those chicken cubes were the worst. Fully cooked, but cold inside and because they were each (3) so large, the majority of the chicken wasn't even cooked with the curry, only the outside got flavored. The fried rice must have had a crab breathe on it, because there didn't appear to be any crab pieces larger than any of the grains of rice. And overall it was interesting. The tip I left was all for the friendliness of the people, not for the food.
Ordered DoorDash from here and had chicken added to my pad Thai ordered but there were some chicken skins and miscellaneous things in the pad Thai. Have eaten at the restaurant before and didn’t have my issues but this is subpar. Chili oil or any sauces were also not included.

I went there for dinner last Friday with my daughter. I was feeling a really rushed. I wasn’t giving any silverware or napkins. I had to ask for everything that I needed. The food came out at a pretty decent time. It seemed as if the food had been put in the microwave. I had the drunken noodles. My daughter had some special Fish dish that they had that night I ended up spilling spending about $80 for dinner and I had a chai tea as well as a herbal tea. I ended up getting food poisoning and it was so sick. I’ve been sick for the last three days I had to get an IV. I had to go to an urgent care and my stomach is still in knots. I’m not sure what happened with the food but it wasn’t good when I ate it and it literally has made me and my daughter really really sick .
Absolutely horrible customer service. Do not go here. There are so many better Thai places in the valley. The first time we came here, they rushed us through our meal and food was average. The second time, our party walked in at 8:25pm and they wouldn’t seat us because they closed at 9pm.
no forks spoons knives soy sauce chili sauce nothing on a to go order. what are we doing exactly? I’m not using the food for an art installation, I’m trying to eat it.
