Came to the Huntsman for a birthday meal and it was fab! The food was delicious and good on portion sizes too. Our server - I'm so sorry I didn't get your name - but she was excellent! Really friendly, helpful and made us feel so welcome. A really fantastic evening, thank you!
Went a few Sundays back. Easily the best roast we've had this year. Was fantastic. Loved the pub refurbishment also. Had a chat with Marcus who has popped in to introduce himself. Well done to all involved. Kayla was passionate and has a lot of plans for the pub moving forward. Have already booked for the end of September. Keep up the good work and the standards.
We celebrated a birthday yesterday with 14 of us and I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Not only was the food incredible and everyone including the kids cleared their plates but, the staff are so lovely & helpful. For someone with a gluten intolerance they catered for me and it was delicious. Thank you again, we’re definitely be back!
Really lovely renovation. Nice menu with good selection of pub classics, specials board was an excellent addition. Drinks selection was good. Food was delicious! Service was great too, attentive staff. Ample parking and outdoor seating. The pub is a great addition to the village
We were very lucky to be staying nearby to The Huntsman, happened to drive past it and after a quick bit of googling thought it was the pick of the bunch for an early Sun dinner - what a good decision! Transpires it’s only been open 3 weeks, having been completely renovated after being closed for 7 years (it’s lovely inside) and Nicola looked after us perfectly - friendly, helpful and professional, exactly as it should be in a local pub. In fact all staff were great (inc the owner who popped over to say hello) and the roasts were fab, there clearly is an excellent chef team and it has a lovely vibrant buzz inside. This is a local pub as it should be - go, you won’t be disappointed!
Excellent food and great service, they accommodated my food allergy without any fuss. Highly recommend their Sunday roasts, just make sure to book as they're very popular.
Took my Mum for lunch on the opening weekend and we both had the Sunday lunch, which was really lovely. Loved the plates and presentation of the food and the pub looks great. Fab tasting food and fantastic service, we will definitely be going again!
The food was epicly banging, with a wide selection on the specials board! Our service was excellent and a special shoutout to the manager Kyla who was attentive to our every need! Plus the Guinness is just as good as the mutton’s which is a great compliment.
A great contemporary pub that feels cosy and welcoming. A fast welcome at the bar area and excellent table service. We went for Sunday roast, all having the beef after a strong recommendation by the waiter. It was delicious! Good portion size - lots of different vegetables, great roasties, huge Yorkshire pud and really well cooked, flavoursome beef. I was particularly happy to get some extra gravy. We were too full for dessert although, the menu was pulling me in and if for no other reason, I'll be back to sample one.
This was our first visit to The Huntsman - we booked for Sunday Roast and have to say we weren't to be disappointed, the service from arrival to being seat was first class - orders taken quickly and the food arrived within 20 mins - WOW the food was 10/10 with nice size portions - This is now a venue we will be using many times. Nice to also see plenty of happy smiling staff. The food and drinks well priced 😃👍
Monday lunch and we tried their new 2 courses for £18. Fab choice for mid day and jolly good pub grub. I took my father and granddaughter, we all had a good experience. The children's fish and chips were amazing and they were so helpful providing a child's dessert to exclude milk. The lady behind the bar who also served us our food was so friendly and helpful, she made it so enjoyable. The atmosphere was only lacking due to needing a few more bums on seats. So come on people. I believe Monday to Wednesday lunch time they have 2 for £18 or 3 for £23. 😋
It's so lovely to have the Huntsman reopened again. The Pearcey team have done a fantastic job retaining a traditional yet modern fresh atmosphere. Food was delicious, in the middle to upper price bracket but good value, (if you ignore £7:50 for three small scoops of ice cream, delicious but not that delicious for the price) Other than that I can wait to frequent it more. It's great to have the Huntsman back.
Came here for Sunday lunch with the family. The Sunday roast was good with a good vegetarian option. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it's a cosy place to while away an afternoon. Highly recommend.
A wonderful experience so welcoming. The food quality was outstanding, plentiful and served nice and hot. My roast beef was fantastic and very tender. Even the gravy had a lovely flavour. Service was very welcoming and Olivia was charming. Would highly recommend a visit.
Had a lovely Sunday Roast at The Huntsman. Booking definitely recommended for food, although plenty of seats outside too. Chantelle, our server, was really helpful and knowledgeable about the menu We went for the roast beef, no extra, not needed as there was plenty of meat and a really nice selection of vegetables and of course the roast pudding. All cooked to perfection. Lovely sized meal which left room for dessert. Dessert came equally well presented, very tasty and worth every Penny The atmosphere was fantastic. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit and will be back
I regularly use The Huntsman its a fantastic pub restaurant where you get a first class service everytime you visit. The Chef is fantastic with so much enthusiasm for his cooking to always ensure his meals are enjoyed. The waiting staff are polite courteous and very helpful and well supported by excellent management. Highly recommended establishment.
Has to be the best breakfast ever.
Fantastic food, most items on the menu can be made gluten free which you don’t often see. Really friendly staff and great service. We will definitely be returning and recommending to others.
We had a meal at the huntsman to celebrate our engagement and we weren’t disappointed. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere was great and the food was brilliant. Would highly recommend.
What a great start! Beautiful country pub - so pleased it has a new lease of life. Staff brilliant , lovely country interior and good food. Atmosphere so relaxed and friendly. Highly recommend.
My 4th time visiting the huntsman., superb pub and restaurant, I used to come here in the 90s, and I love what Marcus and his team and created. Great pints, great roasts, great location and great staff, lucky to have this pub open again.
Great atmosphere, warm with an open fire, the food was tasty and lovely. The staff were great. Would highly recommend.
Love this pub.. the staff are brilliant &so helpful … food always good & if there’s something you don’t like they will always go out of their way to put it right …
First visit to the huntsman for Sunday lunch, and we couldn't fault anything, amazing service, amazing food and a great atmosphere, cozy, warm and very inviting, will definitely be going back !
Visited The Huntsman for the first time since it reopened for a meal & a couple of drinks. Food was delicious & well presented, waitresses were friendly & very helpful. The atmosphere was friendly, will visit again soon.
this place has recently reopened after a refurb. they’ve done a great job. the food was great and the service very friendly.
Sunday lunch, good quality food in a nice atmosphere, would highly recommend and very reasonable prices.
So pleased with the new owners, The Huntsman has remained a lovely country pub, keeping with traditional great food and good beers and larger.
Great pub and grub, highly recommend. It’s wonderful to see the pub open again and looking better than ever.
Lovely pub and very good food
Lovely Sunday lunch & great service & a very friendly welcome
Had a lovely evening at the Huntsman, the young man who served us Oliver was really kind and funny and the food was also delicious! Had the chicken supreme and the fish and chips. Would 100% recommend. Wishing the new owners the best of luck!
Had an amazing time celebrating a friends engagement here, the staff did so well accommodating our very large group (25 people). The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend!
The Huntsman has reopened. Happened to pop in for lunch Friday not realising it was their grand opening. Staff were very friendly and the deco and atmosphere was lovely. It has a cost country vibe inside and plenty of seats outside too. We tried things from the kids menu, main menu and the specials. The kids pasta portion was plenty for my 9 year old, the lasagna of the main menu was huge but the specials were more of a starter/ lightbite. We all had puddings which were delicious. For family of four 2 courses with drinks came to £95. I wish the new owners good luck and hope they make a success of it.
First time visiting The Huntsman for food. We visited for the Sunday lunch. Went for the venison pie with all the trimmings and it was delicious. Generous portion of pie and the right amount of trimmings, without feeling too full or not full enough afterwards. The food was also plated up to look just as good as it tasted. Service was friendly and they upsold us on the stuffing and pigs in blankets, which didn’t disappoint. Service was very quick to take our drinks and food order, but was a little slower to clear the table, offer desserts, or bring our bill. The atmosphere was busy. It’s obviously a popular place, but I didn’t get a great sense of the vibe beyond that, so I would love to come again for an evening meal.
We booked to celebrate a birthday. The food was very good, hot and plenty of it. The seating was spacious and not at all cramped. The only comment I would make is the service was not very attentive. Several tables that were seated well after us had their order taken before us . They were also very slow to clear our table when we had all finished the main course despite a couple of servers looking at our table and still they didn’t offer to clear for some time. Despite this we will be happy to return to check out once more
Visited for sunday roast 26th Oct. I dont normally review but as I had such a lovely experience I thought I should. A comfortable country pub is exactly what it is. Very busy but staff didn't seem stressed very polite. I do love food and not ashamed to say we eat out alot. So for me to say that was the best roast dinner ive had means something. Delicately placed on the plate everything was cooked perfectly. We did add on the cauliflour cheese, stuffing and pigs in blanket and were worth the extra cost. One of the most expensive roasts ive had out with the extras but my goodness it was worth every penny. Will be one of my go to places for a roast. I left off a star as my afters was brought out 10 mins after everyone else's.
Service very good, food standard pub meals, but no complaints. One of our party of four, thought it was a bit expensive, but these days 2 courses for £25 is about standard. My only gripe which is my personal opinion, is being referred to as "Guys". I come from a catering background and customers are sir and madam.. A guy sits on the top of a bonfire. It comes down to training. However I would recommend the Huntsman.
Food was lovely, bar service was slow but if you haven't got enough staff what can you do. Gorgeous pub, very welcoming, will go again.
lovely place the waitresses were so kind and food was great, the place was also very clean and cozy but there was this one woman on bar who was quite rude and ignorant i think her name was kylie but apart from that it was wonderful
The pub and outside area is very nice. Dog friendly. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. This was our first Sunday roast dinner. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. Very small portions of a typical roast and rather pricey for £19,99. Extra sides where £4.99.which would normally be included at other pubs.. The service was very quick though.
Disappointed. I was very excited to see this pub re-open after it's closure years ago and having had many excellent meals there before. Ordered some chips to accompany my pint while deciding on a main course, told I would have to pre-book for food. This is a first. Looked at the menu anyway for future reference, very limited choice. Did not look at the specials so can't comment on those. Good interior and good choice of ales, not overpriced like elsewhere. For a better menu and service, the Shoulder of Mutton is three minutes walk away.
This was our first time at The Huntsman, we booked in advance for a table for 4 people, we were greeted with no smiles, shown to our table, set for 4 with only 3 chairs, was told there is a chair over there, not a good start, we had to get a member of staff to take our order for drinks and food as we had been seated for a while. We ordered 2 roast beef and 2 chicken supreme, have to say the food was brought to our table not long after we had ordered, the beef was tender and the gravy full of flavour, unfortunately everything else was not good, roast potatoes were hard to cut, spoon full of mash swede and carrot, soggy Yorkshire pudding. The chicken supreme looked like a roast dinner, we complained, and the manageress said the chicken was a supreme cut. For £19-95 it was definitely not worth it and will definitely not return.
We visited The Huntsman Pub for a Sunday roast with my parents, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. On arrival, we were shown to our table but not offered any drinks for around 10 minutes while staff were busy setting other tables around us. When we were finally able to order, we asked for the drinks to be brought promptly as we had already been waiting — but our food arrived before the drinks did. When we raised this, the manager came over and, after some back and forth about the staff being “new and untrained,” eventually offered us free drinks. By then, we had started our meal, only to find the vegetables were undercooked and hard. The situation escalated further when the owner himself came over. Instead of resolving the matter, he was aggressive and confrontational toward my parents, both in their 70s. Shockingly, he told us to leave without paying and then, in the same breath, threatened to call the police over the bill. This is absolutely not the Sunday lunch experience we expected. As locals who have supported several of the owner’s businesses, this treatment was unacceptable. I will not be returning to The Huntsman Pub or any of his establishments in the future.
Do you like garlic bread? Don't come.... No garlic. Do you like squid? Hmmmm Do you like onion rings? Park all of the above. Do you like vegetable oil? Hell, this is the place for you! Bland, oily food. Staff were nice, but not enough to entice me to eat more oil.
