What an amazing restaurant and experience. My wife and I went there for our anniversary and wanted something that was a little different than our usual family/kid-friendly style restaurant and heard great things about Chianti Cucina so we gave it a shot. I'm glad we did. Upon entering it has a cozy, old world and dare I say...somewhat romantic atmosphere(?). However, the floors are tile and it stays busy so it might be loud if you go in peak times. The service makes up for it in every metric though. Our server was very attentive, very knowledgeable regarding the food and wine menu and she was fast! I was actually surprised, I don't mind a dining experience that is a little slower paced when I'm on date night. The food is so flippin' good! I had a Ravioli special with short rib and a pomodoro sauce and the flavors were just spectacular! The quality of the dish was probably the finest pasta dish i've had in Novato. The freshness of the tomatoes in the sauce, the fresh herb medley on top with a slight sprinkling of parmesan really balanced out the heavier cheese/short rib ravioli base. The whole thing had a nice blend of flavors. I topped it off with a Napa wine. My wife chose an italian wine, I was not as daring lol. If we had more time and more space I would definitely try some dessert. Next time for sure! I can't wait to go back.
Excellent food, with lots of vegetarian options. Still an outstanding place. So happy we returned.
Dinner for 1, at the bar, great food & service! Vitello Saltimbocca absolutely delicious! Bread pudding wonderfully savory for dessert! Highly recommended
I loved Chianti Cucina.l. it's a very quaint very cozy restaurant. Because I was on my own the night I went there I sat at the bar for dinner. The owners hang around by the bar and talk to people and the staff was informative and very attentive. I tried there Caymus Conundrum red blend wine. It was stunning very very smooth and full-bodied with a berry edge. I had their sweet corn soup, which was smooth creamy and absolutely delicious. For dinner I had their carbonara. I am picky when it comes to carbonara. Theirs was some of the best that I've had this side of Italy. Their pappardelle was fresh and super thin, the sauce was creamy and full of flavor, the pancetta was crispy and the onions were soft and delicious. For dessert I had a Limoncello cream parfait which was like frozen limoncello with a little bit of cream mixed in. A better way describe is a lemon cream freeze. I really enjoyed it. What I also enjoyed about Chianti Cucina was that the people were very friendly. Several people that came to the bar engaged me in conversation.

Incredible food and ambiance. It doesn't matter if you sit at the bar or in the dining room next to the fireplace during the colder months, you'll hmfeel lie family. It's a welcoming dining room and see-through kitchen. Order anything from the menu and you'll be happy. Enjoy dishes with house made ingredients, like the salciccia or ravioli. Leave room for dessert 🍨
Delicious food, I don't eat meat, but I got the "Pomodoro" and added mushrooms. The selection of wine was decent, but the dessert is worth everything. Small place, tight parking, but the atmosphere becomes intimate as the sun goes down. Service is good, and they have a wine bar.
I have been coming here for years. The staff is so friendly and attentive.
The cuisine was outstanding, complemented by a warm and inviting atmosphere. Julia's expertly friendly service elevated the experience, creating unforgettable memories for me. I look forward to returning regularly. Bravo Julia and Merci for an exceptional dining experience! 🥳
Excellent, delicious, and great atmosphere. This restaurant is beyond Italy! There were 7 of us at this family celebration. We each loved what we ordered. Definitely coming back.
Best gluten free pizza crust in the area! Dont order extra anything because there is ample cheese and toppings. The staff are wonderful keeping me safe due to Celiac Disease. It is a great place on all levels!
The staff are so kind and accommodated us despite no reservation. We were fortunate enough to eat on the patio and it was lovely. The food was delicious my kid said it was her favorite pasta. We will be back! Thank you to Juliette for squeezing us in and for the incredible service!
Dimly/romantically lit, old school Italian restaurant with an excellent Bolagnese sauce and pizza that has an airy crust with a slight bite. We were impressed with the generous servings, including the enormous spumoni. My husband said the iced tea was fresh & delicious. We are visitors to the area who are delighted we found this restaurant.
Excellent Food. Lovely service. It does get a little noisy when it’s full. This was a Friday night.

I have some things to say: Service: 5 out of 5 Food: 5 out of 5 Ambiance: 5 out of 5 Wine….. 3.5 out of 5. For those like me who appreciate wine, they served my wine in a warm glass. Disappointing, and as I looked over to the bar, I saw that the keep the wine out in the open. For those who know, wine is best served between 61-65 degrees depending the type, but the wine taste different when it warm. Other then this, the place is good to try, I hope they can improve on the way they handle their wine.
Food was good as you can tell by the empty plate. They are accommodatimg special requests like a half and half pizza. I used to come more often when they had a different Groupon deal and thought I would try it again after two years but it's still really noisy and dark with the lights flickering at times as if they were going out.

Service very good, ambiance nice, the food is a bit pricey for what you get, seems like SF prices. $25 lasagna is a bit steep for a relatively medium portion. Was good overall. Not sure would go back on our own.
Excellent pizza. Good wine selection. My first visit, but not my last. Attentive service, warm atmosphere. Some groups conversing in Italian, which I take as a good sign of quality Italian cuisine. Big menu, everything looks tempting.
Lovely staff, authentic really delicious Italian food, I was a little sad that the fireplace wasn't on and it was a little dark but definitely had an authentic feel, The food and service was great, and I would recommend this place.

Ordered delivery. My entree had a choice of pasta and I chose spaghetti. I received fettuccine. I also paid $5 to add chicken and there was no chicken. Food was lukewarm and took an hour to arrive to an address 3 blocks away. I would not recommend ordering delivery. The food was very tasty, even though it wasn't what I ordered.

I hope this was just a one time thing. They were understaffed when we got there and the hostess was also waiting on tables. She got my order wrong and was working to replace it. I felt bad and offered to just eat the Spaghetti Bolognese instead of the Vongole that I ordered. Apparently, the chef yelled at her because of it, and she delivered the pasta stone faced and ignored me when I asked for come Parm cheese. She tripped over her feet, stopped, and let out a blood curdling scream in the middle of the dining room. I she never experienced anything like it and was completely embarrassed. I think she quit and left. The new server tried to serve me the correct order after I had the Bolognese in front of me but I had lost my appetite by then. She explained that she had to leave her daughter's birthday to come to work. Way too much information and drama for me to enjoy the evening. I suddenly wasn't hungry and took my entree to go. The deep fried Brussels sprouts appetizer were excellent, and my wife enjoyed her salmon. The portions were large. There was three times more mashed potato and vegetables than salmon.
The food has always been good, however the arrogant attitude suggests, customers are not valued! Tried to order 1 entree, and was told no take out service, Fathers Day! 1 entree? Recovering from surgery, too bad. Our Novato is limited in selections for dining and to turn away a reg cust suggests an arrogance that dissappoints. My food has been good but managing the flow is important, 1 entree? Vented! Happy Father's Day! Oh Aurora took my order , first time going, but felt appreciated as a customer!
I have been twice. The first time I had the special - salmon with a caper sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked, but the sauce over powered the fish. It made me think the chef is not thinking about balancing flavors. Second time the salmon and caper sauce was a special again - hmm! I had gnocchi with Bolognese sauce this time. The beef the Bolognese tasted old, ropey and over cooked. I will never go back here. Too bad I moved to Novato six months ago.
