We wanted to try something new today, so we ordered the curry chicken sandwich—and it was absolutely bomb. If you’re not great with spice, you can definitely ask for it milder. The curry is slow-cooked for six hours in chicken broth, and you can really taste the depth and richness of the flavor. It pairs perfectly with the bun. This is a must-try, and don’t forget to order their fries. Of course, I had mine extra spicy. I also heard they have authentic Hong Kong milk tea, which is definitely going on my must-try list. Oh, and they just added a new self-order kiosk, so you can skip the line—huge plus!
Such cute and yummy drinks and really nice concept! What brought us to this place was not only because it was on the way to our destination (which a lot of boba places were too), but because of how creative the names of the drinks are which they were all Alice and Wonderland themed! Everyone also loved their drinks and it was certainly delicious. The staff were very kind especially in asking us clarifying questions for our drinks since we ordered it online and wanted it to be perfect for us. As we waited, we browsed around the cafe since they also carried bakery items. I ended getting the pizza bread which went well with my drink! Will definitely drop by when we are in the area again!
I usually come to Alice Street Bakery Cafe for their baked goods and boba drinks. Yesterday I had discovered that they sell popcorn chicken!! My niece loves their version! Their popcorn chicken is super hot and tender! Now we have a reason to go back! 😋
I huge thank you to Des, she was an absolute god send, I needed a custom cake done with a very short deadline, but that didn't stop Des from helping and guiding me through it all! Not only did I get the cake I wanted but after planning everything out with Des it came out better than what I originally had in mind! The cake itself tasted so good!!!
Huge shout out to Des! I ordered a custom cake for my birthday and was craving a Chantilly cake. Des asked questions and made sure that I got exactly what I wanted. And the cake was beautiful!!!! It literally didn't last till the end of the night, folks went back for seconds and thirds. Thank you so much for helping to make my first birthday here in California a memorable one :)
A popular sit-down bakery next to Lincoln Park and at the edge of Chinatown that has a wonderfully large sandwich menu. The shop has some comfortable seating but most patrons probably order take out. The boba tea is pretty good as well.
This place has great to go baked stuff and excellent burgers and sandwiches
1/13/2026* I got an 8" Chocolate Truffle cake, and it's really delicous and amazing. I brought it to a potluck and everyone loved it. It disappeared in no time. Highly recommended! 5/28/2024 I purchased a 6" fresh fruit cake from Alice Street Bakery, and it was an absolute delight! As a first-time customer, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and efficiency of their service. Here's what stood out to me: 1. Efficiency: I was in a rush to find a cake for Mother's Day, and Alice Street Bakery didn't disappoint. Despite my last-minute request, they assured me that my cake would be ready by 5 pm. 2. Moist and Flavorful Cake: The cake itself was a masterpiece. Moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet—the perfect balance. The sponge was light and airy. 3. Convenient Payment Options: They accept cards, which is always a plus for me. 4. Reward Program: Alice Street Bakery has its own reward program. As a new customer, I received a 10% discount on my first purchase. It's a great incentive to keep coming back!
Excellent bakery!!! I needed a small, last-minute cake for a friend's birthday. These guys were able to decorate one of their American-style cheesecakes with extra strawberries and a personalized chocolate heart--all in less than 30 minutes! They even gave me a plastic cutter and birthday candle. My friend loved the cake. Its texture was perfect, and the mixture of fresh fruits and cheese flavor were perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. I will definitely return, especially to try out their different teas.
What a hidden gem. Their Asian style bread with different filling are wonderful. I especially like their bread with corn and ham. They also recently added sandwiches which reminds me the sandwiches I had in Asia. Their shrimp sandwich was fry with Japanese Tempura batter (if you like Tempura shrimp). You can choose different sauces to go with it. I highly recommend the fish or shrimp sandwich with lime sauce. Sooooo good!!
If you ever find yourself with a fancy coffee in hand, farmers market goods in your bag, waiting patiently in line at Bake Sum (they're great, love the vision but respect is due where it's due...) , well, you first need to pay homage to Alice Street Bakery Cafe. Alice Street Bakery is the OG!!! This is where it all starts. This is the quintessential Cantonese bakery satisfying all your sweet and savory bun, custom cakes, and drink needs. Everything is exactly as it should be: perfectly set up with a couple tables for your Cantonese uncles and grandpas to mull over tea and cakes during their morning chats, while the young kids ogle over pretty slices of cake in the front, and regulars hustle in and out with their favorite buns. This is not precious, butter-laden, French-inspired pastry culture. This is Cantonese baking at its best, its most original, and yet perfectly situated for our modern times. AND the staff is surprisingly, ridiculously, helpful and sweet. We need to keep places like Alice Street Bakery alive and, trust me, we will be back many many times again. And tip them well!!!
Super Yummy Pineapple Bun with egg and ham.
Freshly made sweet roll, with a crunchy toasted outer shell. The eggs are made to order, with a perfectly sized ham. When you're done, your tastebuds want to be reunited with this perfect breakfast sandwich. Get the Ham and Egg Sandwich.

Ordered a custom cake from Alice with 5working days’ notice. Not only was the cake beautiful and delicious, they worked with me at every step to design the cake, decide the structure that best matched what I wanted (including different options for edible printing). Super responsive, we worked over the phone and text, and it was so easy to do. Will order again!!

This was great! The atmosphere, was perfect. It was like coming straight out of the movie! Popcorn Chicken and Fried Siu Mai was crunchy, and flavorful.
This place is a gem! Really tasty and well priced burgers; good drink collection and freshly baked cakes and baked goods. It’s almost like a fusion of traditional Chinese and western baking techniques; also they make beautiful custom cakes. The area is safe and quiet don’t let Oaklands rep scare you away!
Everything I tasted was amazing! Cakes were really delicious and sweetness was just right, not too sweet and felt really fresh ! Japanese cheese cake was incredible too ! I also tried Hong Kong milk tea and it was so rich in taste, I was impressed. Plus my top recommendation for those who like shrimps, they make super good shrimp burgers with a real shrimp patty that they make themselves, it tasted juicy delicious!
Ordered carafe and fresh buns. Delicious all around. Owner was gracious in helping to explain what might be best for the event I'm putting on. And my car battery died right outside and she and her husband were so helpful in jumping my car with their car. Can tell they care about the community!

Tea: I had never had Hong Kong style tea before, so I ordered it without sweetness, but the helpful woman at the counter asked if I was familiar with it, and since I was not, she advised that it would be bitter, so she suggested that we start with 25% sweetness, and add more incrementally, if preferred. This was an excellent suggestion because it is quite strong, and was helped along with about another 15%, I believe. That was the nicest tea drink I've had in quite a while, so I'll definitely stop in again when I'm in the area. Food: I didn't order any, but they have many sandwiches and savory buns to choose from. Most have meat, but I saw one cheese version, and the bagels have a vegan cream cheese option. Sweets: Many, many options, including soft sweet breads, which I prefer due to them being lower in sugar than most bakery options.
I had their fried shrimp burger with lime pineapple sauce. It was a nice hefty size. The thick shrimp patty was fried perfectly with a light and crispy crust and the buns were nicely crisped up on the griddle. Honestly pretty impressive and I definitely would come back for more. My only issue was that I picked the lime pineapple sauce out of about 8 sauce options at ordering and it was definitely the wrong choice. The sandwich probably would have met its potential with a stronger, umami rich sauce.
love visiting Chinatowns all over the world. Especially during this time of the year when it's more festive and people seem to be in better moods! We all show support by visiting SF or Oakland Chinatown. Go have a good meal, buy some boba drinks and bring home some delicious egg tarts! Alice St. Bakery (Oakland) makes a delicious and simple egg tart. It's a cookie like crust with nice soft middle. I know, I know, there is always going to be that one person that tells me they rather go "here" or "there" down the block because it's "cheaper" or "better". But, for under $1.50 for each one, go support 3 or 4 bakeries and buy one from each!🤣 They also have lots of Asian inspired pastries and sandwiches. Dine in available. Quick and efficient service. Difficult parking.

Great service, staff is so nice, went up and beyond to help me out, it was a last minute decision to get some slices and they very helpful, cakes are tasty and decently priced
TOO PRICECY 2-3x the price of the bakeries nearby (1-2 street away). Cakes often frozen, not fresh. I had taste some mild fridge & cleaning (dish soap?) Taste from the cake. Cost around $6 for a small piece of cake. Even though they have coupons and other promotions on the app. The cost is still quite a lot consider the portion and freshness of the pastries. Not a lot of variety in buns, pastry. They do have a male cashier that speaks English fluently and they have sandwiches options so I guess is a decent place for occasionally getting something. If is for Chinese buns, looking elsewhere offers better value. (They speak limited English tho). Not a super busy place so okay if coming for a quick lunch.
