The beet risotto at The Fat Lady in Oakland is a game changer! It’s creamy, with that earthy beet kick, and the Parmesan on top? Chef's kiss! It’s like they put all the good stuff in one dish. Seriously, if you’re in Oakland, you gotta try it. Even for take out it's still Five stars for making something so good. Oh location is good too, right around the corner from Jack London Square.

Well this is round two of reviewing since Google is not cooperating..but I feel this place is worth it. My husband found this when I was on a travel nurse assignment in Northern California. It was superb. We will definitely come back. It is a must visit place if you are in the area!

A beautiful and unique restaurant/bar. The atmosphere is fun, everyone is friendly, and there is lots of laughter and banter. I had the best Espresso Martini I’ve had in years! It was truly amazing! Made with fresh espresso. I also had my usual Gin & Tonic and Blood Mary. Both were well made. Five stars for the Bartender.

I loved the vibe, it transports you to (i actually don’t know where I’m assuming some place in germany) but so well done! got the steak, it was so tender and the temperature was perfect. didn’t expect a place that doesn’t have “steak” in the name to have such good steaks! very impressed. also, good mocktails/non alcoholic beverages.

The fat lady’s been around for 53 years and still serving up some great food. With it all is just the best table service. A great selection for cocktails from the bar. I had a spicy, bloody Mary, and my friend had an espresso martini , that was super. And they have family recipes for their cheesecake and the Pate. I was served up a delicious Warm Spinach Salad that was topped off with a poached egg that was great. My friends had their specially prepared lamb chops that are hard to beat. We had a couple servings of their delicious French onion soup. Another friend had a special this week of a pasta dish with spiral pasta, corn, cherry tomatoes, and olives, and garlic. Also ordered was a great Fat Lady Burger as well as an order of corn chowder that was delish. It’s definitely worth checking out.

An absolute treat! Has the ambiance of a “House of Prime Rib” without needing a reservation 3 months in advance. This is a place where the wait staff treats you like you are a special guest, and the food is delectable. Apologies some of the pictures were taken mid-meal, it was just that delicious! Definitely will be visiting again, and bringing more folks next time. Also don’t forget to catch the board walk in Jack London to walk off some of the calories afterwards!

Flavor: A Service: A Solo dining: C After much research, we had made this our top pick for dinner on our night in Oakland. Apparently we didn't do enough research to figure out that a reservation would be needed. So the great impression of this place started when the hostess figured out how to seat us despite our poor planning. If you like whiskey-based drinks, try the cocktail that has a fancy name starting with B. I had the rack of lamb and it was deliciously and uniquely flavorful. And perfectly cooked. The potatoes and Brussels were also great. For dessert, we both got cheesecake and enjoyed every light and fluffy bite. Our waiter was always attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is this oddly beautiful overly-done step-back-in-time while embracing all the weirdness. We loved our evening with The Fat Lady.

Like the outside dining area, with group of ladies. Had to chase down the waiter but I arrived late. Service and food came out pretty quick. I had the crab cakes , and cheesecake was nice. My friends had the lamb chops and they really liked them.

7/31/21-The double cut pork chop was cooked perfectly! I only wish that I had more of the delicious mashed potatoes and 1/2 of a carrot, broccoli just right! I am glad that we had reservations for dining outside last night. The sign on the door said that masks weren't required indoors! I don't recall seeing anyone wearing masks in the jam packed restaurant. I have a feeling that we'll be eating out of To Go boxes again in 2 weeks. 10/27/18-We went there again last Saturday to take in the Halloween decorations. I had the scallops with risotto, the scallops were burned on the ends and still raw inside. It still amazes me that some restaurants in the Bay Area can't properly seafood? 10/28/17-I went there for the first time Monday night before Halloween to see the decorations... Impressive! This cozy place has a good menu and good service. The pork chop was a little small for a double French cut Chop, taste was very good, cooked just the way I like it but, needed more mashed potatoes. Salads and Appetizers small, tasty and pricey. I would go there again.

Pate’ was good. Calamari steak was tender but the breading was very “doughy “ sadly. Boulevardier drink was to be like an old fashion but only very remotely like one. Service was very friendly. fast, and present. I would not recommend this place but I would also not fight to avoid it either.

The place is beautiful decorated the building has lot's of story behind it. Food wise , the menu was quite small not much to choose from. For a good beer and cocktail this place should do it.

Food was good. Drinks were good. Atmosphere was great. I enjoyed a the look of the bar. Bartender was pretty busy with closing so if I had a question I had to refer to the menu about the history. Small talk is usually good but didn't find it here. The bar had a wide variety of cocktails but not beer and didn't look like anything on tap.
