I had a blast here on Saturday. It was karaoke night and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. The drinks were great and affordable, the DJ was awesome, gave out mic covers to lessen the spread of germs between singers. The crowd was awesome and our group had a lot of fun.
Really fun spot for drinks and karaoke! Friendly bartender and doorman. There’s a classic photo booth for taking pics (it takes Apple Pay). Had a grand time hearing these local dudes harmonize some old 70s tunes on the stage, it was awesome!
This place is home to an awesome monthly dj showcase in their upstairs portion. Such an awesome gem in Oakland.

Came for the karaoke on Monday night with a large group and had A BLAST, thanks to DJ Chris! We were able to easily join the queue via QR codes posted around the bar and he kept the good vibes going all night long. Our group is only in town for a couple days but we were extremely happy with the experience and had a great time. Only come to Legionnaire if you’re trying to let loose and enjoy strangers belting your fave songs. Bonus: the bar is only 21+
Visiting from Scotland. What a find this bar. Incredibly well stocked bar. Super friendly staff and great atmosphere. They add also have an amazing whisky bar upstairs at weekends. It's on a par with anything I've experienced in my native country. Also the proprietor Jason is Incredibly warm and welcoming. If you find yourself in Oakland, this place is a must visit ✨️
Visiting from Los Angeles and popped in. Drinks were great and they had karaoke going on. The pinball machines are fun too. Great Tuesday night!
Fantastic experience. Karaoke was lit with a wide selection of modern and old music. Food comes from next door and is also fantastic and available late
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Brooke, and let me just say, amazing doesn’t even begin to cover it. From the moment I sat down, she was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about her craft. You can tell she really cares about every guest’s experience, and it shows in every pour and every conversation. If you’re lucky enough to have Brooke behind the bar, you’re in for a great night. 10/10 would come back just for her!
Hosted my work holiday party here and it was incredible! We rented out the entire space including the upstairs Oakland Whiskey Library. Jason and Alissa were SO easy to work with and responsive. They were present on the night of the event to make sure we got everything settled and throughout the night as any issues came up. Security and bar tenders were so lovely and genuinely interested in making sure we had a good time. I would highly recommend this space for a private party. They work with any budget and have a good mix of different types of spaces for any group's needs. Rave reviews from co workers put this in the top event spaces for our yearly holiday party!
Fun vibe. Talented bartenders. I asked for a modification of one of the signature mocktails. The bartender told me the that the ingredient i didn't want was combined with 2 of the other ingredients. He then asked me questions about flavors i like and me and amazing custom mocktail that was delicious and pretty. Had a good time at karaoke will definitely be back.
We found this place right before they were closing, but they still let me sing one song before the end so I managed to cross the Karaoke in the USA of my bucket list :D Great atmosphere and people, I wish we had come earlier.
My favorite bar in Oakland. This bar's vibe is -home-, and the bartenders, Michael and Brooke always do what they can to make me feel welcome. I can't help but feel excited when I get off of work, because this place is on my usual plan of action. There's Karaoke every night, and it brings out very diverse crowds, which makes each night oh-so unique! It's great to be a regular here, and just as much if you're a stranger! Ps. Shout out to Jessie, he will take care of you if you're chill!
They don't have food but you have lots of options near by & they do let you bring food, it's a karaoke bar & good local community, respect & you should be too. Affordable & they have nice stuff too. If you got ppl trying to karaoke, it starts at 9pm everyday. Overall good place to chill & sing. They also have food truck pull up like 3 or 4 nights a week & they be fire!
They’ve got karaoke and a few pinball machines that add to the fun. Security was surprisingly friendly and the bartenders are just as welcoming. The vibe here is lively and upbeat and it can also get a bit loud - but overall a great spot to have a great time, dont overlook it!
This place is always a vibe! Brooke is what makes it though. She totally owns the bar, acknowledges everyone, makes drinks quickly and yummy’ She makes conversation so you feel connected while handling multiple orders at the same time.
Brooke and Michael are the most amazing bartenders. They create a community. They are so welcoming, funny, and attentive. They are not simply customer service. They are friends who care for each person at the bar.
Love this place! Went four times in the space of like three weeks. The super friendly crowd and mcs made me feel like a rock star. Huge song selection: a lot of stuff they don't have at my hometown karaoke bar. Some amazing singers, too: every night I went there'd be a few performances that blew me away. It'll be what I miss the most about Oakland.

Awesome venue! Great bands, good service
this place used to be THE spot for midweek karaoke, and now karaoke is every night, meaning it might be the spot for weekend karaoke too! i don't think it has thus transformed into A Karaoke Bar though, even if it is one per se. (note: this is legally correct use of "per se", whether you like it or not.) it's kind of an offbeat-but-earnest divey vibe, which hasn't changed over the years — i find this comforting. usually i just go to hang out with my own group of friends, but it is very common that i will end up chatting a bit with someone new, and everyone is always very kind and very cool. it's an eclectic crowd made up of nonetheless normal and genuine people. years ago, i thought the bartenders didn't really like me because they were making me weak drinks (i always tipped well, in case that's what you were thinking). i kept going anyway. now i feel like that problem has been fully corrected, although that might just be because my tolerance is dropping now that middle age is approaching on the horizon. i do see some reviews mentioning bartenders being rude, and for what it's worth, i've never personally had that experience. management also seems to be handling these situations appropriately. but the thing is: i kind of don't want to go to a bar where someone hasn't complained about a rude bartender? that's how i know a spot has character. a metaphor: this bar shares the name for a soldier in a core unit of the ancient roman army, but when you arrive, you will be greeted by a sign reading "cead míle fáilte", which feels like an ironic juxtaposition, especially for someone like me whose family came from ireland through scotland to the united states. rome never openly attempted to conquer hibernia (their name for ireland), but they did exert a proto-colonial type of influence over the region, primarily through christianity. however, catholicism came to be a defining aspect of irish identity, especially during the troubles. small aspects of gaelic paganism survived even into my own family's traditions by being fully wrapped in a christian coat. now these things are inextricable; culture is messy like that. and in that respect, the name kind of works. that's this bar — it's a lot of things, and they weirdly fit together into being a special little community. the reason i have to withhold a star, even though (in case you haven't figured it out by now) this is my favorite bar is that the drinks... are fine? this is mostly a review of the experience, but drinks are a part of that experience, and they're honestly whatever. they're good enough! it's the memories and fun times that keep me coming back. objectively, it's a four out of five. but subjectively... well, everybody knows it has a perfect score in my heart.

The bar atmosphere was nice, the bartender was nice the drinks were reasonably priced but my issue became with a security guard who after I got permission from the bartender to use the restroom when the bar was closing security came and banged on the door screaming at me and then tried to explain that I have a disability so it was taking me a minute and that she shouldn't be conducting herself like that she continued on being rude hostile cursing at me and being very disrespectful I continue to say that that is no way that anyone should be treated especially somebody with a disability and then that it just took me a little bit longer in the restroom . The male security who was a nice guy earlier in the night decided to back up his coworker with the disrespect. I've tried to get in contact with the owner when you call the phone in the daytime it just rings. Very disappointing service I wonder if they know that they can be sued? You never know who people know and I would hate for this to happen to someone else definitely wouldn't be back and if you guys do go make sure you watch out for the black woman with a short haircut
Came in Sunday night got scammed by the bartender. There was only one working, and he was rude and smug from the start. He messed up our drinks and even gave one of my friends the wrong, cheaper tequila, which was either deliberate or he was completely incompetent. He then overcharged my other friend by $9, and when she pointed it out, he initially said, "That's how much it costs." When she pointed to the menu, he took the receipt and said, “you care too much,” then walked away like it was nothing. Myself and another friend went back up to the bar to sort it out and stood there for 15 minutes while he blatantly ignored us. When we finally walked down to where he was, he sarcastically said “nice move.” He then spent another 5 minutes fumbling with the receipt and register before saying we could either get a credit or come back the next day to talk to a manager. No apology. No accountability. Just attitude. Like we were the ones who made the error. He literally could've just admitted his mistake and said he didn't know how to reverse the charge. We took the credit just to get out of there, ordered a drink we didn’t even want (the first ones were bad anyway), and left. To make matters worse. My other friend got a notification that a $30 tip was added to her card AFTER we left. She never wrote it in. Never approved it. He added it himself. That’s not just shady, that’s credit card FRAUD. This bartender was unprofessional, dishonest, and clearly had no interest in doing his job. First time at this bar and definitely the last. If you go here, watch your drinks, your tab, and your receipt. He clearly thought he could get away with it and probably has. I'm sure this isn't the first time either and management must not care since he still has a job.
