The Boathouse is loved for its delicious food, great service (especially Brian), and spectacular waterfront views, especially at sunset. Many recommend outdoor seating. Some find the parking confusing and clam chowder disappointing.

Casual atmosphere, easy going, great service. Food was outstanding, Angry Seaford Val and Seafood Pot Pie delish. Hot fresh bread with oil served first. Lovely bottle of chardonnay. Our kind of place. Oh dessert tasty too.
Right on the Hudson, between a boat yard and a Yacht club, they serve inside and outside, and also at the edge of the pier - outside. Typical American Bar food, but - Huge portions of Delicious! I got a large soup bowl of delicious Clam Chowder, that was almost a meal by itself. We also had BBQ sauce chicken wings that were delicious. Roasted Salmon in Mustard & Dill sauce, with mashed potatoes with the skin, and crisp (not soggy, wilted, mushy) Asparagus. I could not finish the amount of food on my plate. My better half ordered a Tuna sandwich, seared and delicious, with julienne red peppers, carrots & jalapeños, with a serving of crisp French fries. Everything was served quite quickly, by very attentive and friendly wait-staff. The food came out Hot and quickly, even though the place was hopping busy and full. The Boathouse is a little out of the way, their food is out of this world for an unpretentious, good, on-the-river restaurant.
Good food, service, and outdoor ambiance of a marina and the Hudson were outstanding. A must try!
The food service was great and the food was tasty. We sat in the outdoor seating so we could see the views of the river and it was definitely worth it. The drinks were good as well, if you like tiramisu, I would definitely recommend the tiramisu martini.
Excellent food, service and ambiance sitting outside - went for lunch and will be back!
We had salads which were both excellent. But more amazing was the lobster roll the table next to us got. It was huge and we couldn't stop raving about even though we didn't even know the guests who received it next to us.
Amazing!! Super friendly, non-judge mental/ down to earth staff; All ages/backgrounds of people of all walks of life coming together for awesome food and atmosphere; and stunning sunsets to boot? I mean, it’s just a wonderful experience!! 💗💗💗 (Ps: Michelle was nothing short of outstanding)
Nice place with a great view on the Hudson. Staff is very friendly and the food is very good.
I ordered the catch of the day Halibut was delicious!! Their fresh bread is amazing too!!! Service was great!! Great vibes!!
Eaten at the Boathouse many times. Always happy. Outdoor dining by the river in summer is great.
The Boathouse is a lovely place. The staff is committed to address the needs of the patrons. All members of the "crew" clearly work together. The atmosphere is cozy, and friendly. We had a wonderful experience and will certainly revisit. Thank you for your attention to our needs 😊👍.
Local spot in the village that i live in...and its just...awesome...whether you come for a quick drink, to a small bite or dinner for 6, you can not go wrong at the Boathouse...owner Lisa always tending bar to make sure that her customers feel at home and have a drink in hand...waiter/waitress Ryan, Philip and Michelle are great and their attention to detail stands out...from apps to entrees, you can not go wrong here...from Spiedini( ask for buffalo and garlic ), to their Wings, Arancini and Spicy Crab Fries are excellent...entrees such as the Rib Eye Steak, Very Angry Val, Lobster Roll, Short Rib Sheperds Pie, Lobster Mac & Cheese, etc are great...come summer time, you wont find a better place around...there is the " boat bar " right next to the water, and you will find live music on the weekends. Reasonably price, and you will be coming back there for sure
This place is so good!!!! The orginal Angry Val (No chicken) is amazing!!!! Staff is great- they are all so accommodating! You can watch whatever game at the bar! It is such a fun place to have a great meal and a good drink! You can sit outside and watch the sunset over the Hudson. Sometimes there's live music in the parking lot! Great vibes relaxed atmosphere!
I frequent this establishment several times a year, but missed last year due to the pandemic. Been there twice this year and always good food, good drinks and good service. Last night I had an issue with my food coming out and they were very sympathetic and fixed the situation. That’s great customer service and I will be frequenting them more in the future. Thank you! PS - if you love mussels, garlic and damn good dipping bread, get it here!
Great and attentive service. Good drinks, good prices, nice ambiance. The food was quite good as well. I had a burger that was cooked perfectly with crispy fries while my friends had the lobster rolls, which they loved. The bread they start you with was warm and delicious. I got there earlier than my friends so I asked to wait at the bar before they arrived and they were very accommodating, even offering to hold a table for us when everyone got there. All around it was a great experience for dinner with a few friends. Definitely coming back!
I really enjoyed our meal here. Complimentary bread and butter/oil. Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes. Great views even in the rain. A bit loud but fun lively atmosphere.
Have been here before and always liked it. Its a really nice place. Tonight for the first time at this restaurant I had a cheese burger. I truly believe it was the best burger I have ever had. Every part of it was delicious but especially the bun. This was the perfect bun for a burger. Also, our waiter Dylan was wonderful and the hostess Laura was a real sweetheart. Thank you for a great experience!
First time going there...we had a great time! Everything we ordered was delicious, perfect ambiance. Michelle provided amazing service! Will be going back soon . Highly recommend!!
Great service. Good food.
Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service. My wife and I always enjoy coming here especially when there is live music during summer nights.
Went here with my Mom and Sister for Mother's Day. Never been before. The food was out of site! Everything we ordered was incredible. Service was great. Everyone was kind, attentive, and accommodating. We sat outside and enjoyed watching ppl prep their boats for the season. Such a nice ambience. Definitely recommend.
The staff is awesome. If you are lucky enough to get Michelle as your server you are in for a treat. The owner Lisa is great with kids and is always accommodating to everyone. All the servers are knowable of the menu and can always make recommendations of what is great on the menu. There is always a friendly crowd.
Amazing experience at this waterfront restaurant! The stuffed burger was delicious, and the fried calamari was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The seating by the water was beautiful, and I loved having a separate bar on the patio. Highly recommend for a great dining and relaxing spot! Michelle the bartender is great. You have to try the mango mojitos!
The atmosphere and service was great but lobster roll was alright at best. Super kind and nice people though! Other dishes like the Shepard’s pie were tasty!
Great food, great atmosphere, great service, the prices were a little high to me, but being from Missouri, everything was high in New York compared to what I'm accustomed with
Food was amazing drinks were amazing Peter the waiter was amazing go we had fish and chips and salmon amazing
Great place I have been there several times this summer. Can't believe someone left a post that its too expensive. Cheapest place in the Tri State Area Per pound for a Lobster! If anything they are priced just right or under priced. Best way to get there is to Dock behind the Restaurant or cross the Tappan zee Bridge. Here are pics from 9.27.20. Also there is a very long public dock just past the Boat House for newbies to pull up so they don't crash! Many other places have shallow water or a very small place to Dock.
No matter what vibe you are looking for, The Boathouse Ossining is the place to go. Great food and just phenomenal staff. You can tell a well run establishment by the fact that many of the staff is there year after year and service is consistently attentive and caring. Best place to catch a sunset at the boat bar situated right along the coast of the majestic Hudson River.
In response to Meghan D's review tonight... I witnessed this situation firsthand, and I feel it’s important to share an objective perspective. My party had a reservation (which is strongly recommended at this location, especially on busy summer nights), and while waiting to be seated, we observed the interaction between this walk-in guest and Laurie, the manager on duty. Despite being incredibly busy, Laurie was doing her best to accommodate walk-ins who didn’t have reservations. The guest repeatedly confronted her about the wait time. Laurie calmly explained the situation and even showed the guest the waitlist to be transparent about the order of parties. The staff was clearly doing all they could to manage a full house and still show respect to everyone involved. Unfortunately, the guest's behavior became increasingly tense and inappropriate. She used VULGAR and offensive language toward Laurie, in earshot of other diners, including families with children. She also took it upon herself to walk into the kitchen area to express her frustration to the staff there—who were not involved in managing the waitlist and appeared confused by the situation. My party, along with others, was shocked by her tone and language. We felt compelled to say something because her behavior crossed a line from frustrated to outright disrespectful. The professionalism and patience displayed by Laurie and the entire staff was absolutely impressive. They handled the situation far better than most would have. The reality is, hospitality staff work hard to create a positive experience for every guest—especially during busy times. It's important to recognize those efforts and extend patience and understanding when things don’t go exactly as hoped. Being KIND costs nothing.
Friendly place with amazing view. The food is very good with a nice selection of beers.
I'm so glad we took the time to stop in here. Driving to it was a bit sketch for us Texans, but it sure was worth it! They were so kind, the atmosphere was quaint, and the food was amazing! We ordered the calamari, which was fried perfectly, and the accompa ying sauces were perfect. We also ordered lobster rolls, which were still being served cold, and they were so fresh with the most perfect flavor. I would highly recommend stopping in, especially if you're visiting and want some good seafood.
On a crisp morning when my wife and I set out for a day of fishing. We’d barely left the marina when the port engine started grinding like a coffee grinder with a grudge. Turns out, my wife forgot to lubricate the lower unit during our last maintenance. I lost it—yelled something about how she’s turning into her mother, that woman from Staten Island who once tried to color-code my toolbox. “You’re getting her same pinched face and that tone that could scare a seagull!” I shouted. She snapped back, stormed below deck, and left me to wrestle the helm as the current took us. The engine gave out entirely, and before I knew it, we’d drifted downriver and bumped against the pilings near The Boathouse, stranded like a couple of fools. I tied up to their dock—way too polished for my beat-up boat—and trudged ashore in my grease-stained jeans, intending to ask for a phone to call a tow. The place looked like a nautical theme park, with fake nets and a ship’s wheel that’s never seen saltwater. But the smell from the kitchen—garlic, spices, something zesty—stopped me cold. The hostess, who eyed me like I was a shipwreck survivor, sat me at a table overlooking the river. I was just going to make my call, but the menu caught my eye, and somehow I ended up ordering the Chicken Scarpariello. Let me tell you, that dish was absurdly good—ridiculous, even, for a place playing dress-up as a sailor’s tavern. The chicken was fall-apart tender, the sausage packed a smoky punch, and the peppers and potatoes swam in this tangy, lemon-wine sauce that could make you forget a broken engine. It was hearty enough to fuel a full day on the water, and the flavors hit harder than a nor’easter. I washed it down with some overpriced “craft beer” that wasn’t half bad, sitting there watching the Hudson ferries glide by. The staff, decked out in striped shirts like they’re auditioning for a yacht club, were quick and friendly, even if the whole nautical vibe felt like a satire of my actual life. I came in to borrow a phone and left stuffed, satisfied, and almost forgetting my wife’s turning into her mother. The Boathouse is over-the-top with its decor, but that Chicken Scarpariello? It’s worth every penny. Five stars from this old sailor—just make sure your lower unit’s greased, or you might end up here, too.
Had an AWESOME experience during our first (and certainly not our last) visit to The Boathouse, which was recommended by friends who work in the Ossining area. The nautical vibes were great and totally fitting as we dined at a table inside the restaurant with the sun setting behind us. The food - amazing. I definitely recommend the spicy crab fries, the Halibut, and the seafood pot pie. We also had the salted caramel brownie (UNREAL!) and fruit crisp (NO CRUMBS LEFT BEHIND!). That being said, everything on the menu looked great as we watched other meals being served to nearby tables - will definitely be trying them all! My biggest takeaway, though, was how great the service was. Michelle and Brian were THE BEST! In fact, we will be returning regularly on Monday evenings to see the crew who took such good care of us yesterday evening. ASK FOR THEM WHEN YOU VISIT!
I went with several family members and we had a great time! Our food was delicious and no one‘s order was incorrect which was impressive because we were a large group and sometimes it happens, but not here! My lobster and garlic mashed potatoes were perfect! And we caught a beautiful sunset ❤️
The Boathouse came recommended after searching for the best seafood in Westchester and wow I can’t believe we didn’t find it sooner! It’s a cute and airy restaurant right on the water with amazing views from inside as well as the outside. The hostess/manager happily sat us as walk-in’s right away at 4pm but I would make reservations when we come back for a later dinner for those prime tables. They have the most amazing staff and servers I wish I knew names to thank everyone - seriously the sweetest most genuine servers who were so delightful and attentive. The FOOD was delicious, full of flavor and plentiful! We had the crab cakes, rib eye and lobster roll, fish and chips and Mac and cheese — and everything was my favorite lol! Planning to return asap to try the rest of the menu and can’t wait! So happy my family and I discovered this gem, our new fave for sure!!!
Took advantage of the Dock and Dine. It was a beautiful day. Enjoyed Brunch at the Boathouse. The staff was welcoming and inviting. Our waitress was caring and pleasant. The food was good and the atmosphere was of a boathouse. Pretty cool.
Classic spot on the Hudson for some fried fish or a lobster roll, which is above average. Always wish the seating could be closer to the water and not immersed in the parking lot, but the uniqueness of the Ossining harbor eatery keeps bringing us back regardless.
The food was delicious and the staff was great. The food did take a while but it was worth the wait.
Good food, excellent view. We stopped by for a late Sunday lunch and were surprised that all the outside seating was reserved at 4 PM. Indoor was chilly but nice. The wait staff is very young and well trained. The Fried Calamari appetizer was very tasty and tender with a very light batter. My Wife had Soft Shell Crabs that were delicious I had a Clam Po Boy that was not as good as the Crabs but still very good and came with the same Cajun Mayo the Fried Calamari had come with. All in all a very nice place for a meal, but next time we'll call ahead for an outside table.
Has the potential to be a great local spot but still pretty good. The vibe and scene were just what we were looking for and the live band and water view amplified that feel. Overall the food was delicious but some items oddly overpriced--2 medallion sized crab cakes for 19 dollars?? Will definitely be back but will order smarter next time.
Love this little place. Reliable. Clean, and beautiful. Very nice little spot in a hidden spot of town next to the river. Great selection of food and appetizers. Service could have been a bit better, but I did chose to come on two very busy days. Hence the attention may change this factor. Great outdoor seating, with fascinating Hudson views. Price is abit on the higher side, but you do receive high quality foods, and high quality views.
Had the salad with tuna. Was expecting pieces and was surprised to see a nice sized steak on top of the salad. Cooked perfectly and the dressing was delicious. Wife had shrimp dish which had slices of the creamiest fresh mozzarella I've ever tasted. Two entrees and a beer just over $50 with a river view?? Well, well worth it. Fun place with an outdoor bar. We will eat there again.
The food was great. Service was excellent. Would've given it a higher rating if it wasn't so damn cold inside! I bet it's a FABULOUS place in the warmer months. I can't wait to return in the spring or summer.
The outdoor seating was such a pleasure, my salad was really excellent, the shrimp was delicious, the mussels were very nice. Service was excellent, from both the waitress and the busser. Only complaint was my mother’s tuna steak, ordered medium, came out well done and dry, so err on the side of ordering more rare than you might think. But she still liked her overall meal and we both declared we’d absolutely be back.
Good place to enjoy a sunset over the Hudson. The view is spectacular. They have a food truck that serves some standards on the menu for outdoor tables riverside. Food is above average. They unfortunately ran out of peel and eat shrimp, which is why I made the trip. Hence the four stars.
Nice little spot on the river. We have eaten here multiple times and always had good experiences ( except one time we were seated near a table of sea hags who loudly talked about how much they loved smoking weed all the time and how if the principals at the schools they worked with only knew). Besides the sea hags the service is always very friendly and attentive. The food is great and the drinks are cold. You can sit outside in the warmer weather and they have a separate serving area closer out by the river in the warmer months. It's worth a trip to this cozy little spot.
We had a great lunch outdoors at The Boathouse in Ossining, overlooking the marina — such a beautiful and relaxing spot. My husband started with a Bloody Mary that came with two perfectly grilled shrimp, $18 buttery and well-seasoned. I had an Aperol Spritz, light and refreshing. We shared the steamed clams in a red pepper and bacon broth — the clams were plump, and the broth was so flavorful we used the warm homemade bread to soak up every drop. Our server was friendly and efficient. My husband wanted fish and chips but asked to have it on a roll, and the waiter suggested a po’ boy version with a little spice. It was a huge sandwich — crispy, it wasn’t overly battered and moist inside — came with really good fries. I ordered the warm lobster roll - MP $37 (by mistake, I meant to get the cold one!) and it turned out to be fantastic — whole pieces of lobster claw and knuckle meat, just butter on a soft bun, simple and perfect. The patio has about ten covered tables with a great view, and the inside is comfortable, air-conditioned, with a nice bar area. Everything from the food to the service was superb . We’ll definitely be back — next time I’m getting that cold lobster roll!
Parking is still confusing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The menu is small but spot on with everything. The specials were amazing, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Definitely coming back to enjoy more items. Dinner was amazing. I definitely recommend the mustard dill salmon.
A DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE: I have been to the Boathouse several times while visiting from Missouri. My daughter lives in the area, so this is a repeat place. The atmosphere, wait staff, and hostess are always friendly and accommodating. However, last night my son ordered the NEW ANGRY VAL and said after one bite that it was the worst meal he had ever been served. The seafood tasted old and without flavor. Both the waiter and hostess saw that he was not eating his entree but getting portions of the meals from the other family members at our table. What a disappointment after I had raved about this place. The waiter and hostess could have offered a quick substitute.... even a burger would have been fine, but chose to ignore the problem.
Typical American fare, not fancy. Limited beer selection. They have wine and cocktails but didn't try those. Only reason to eat here is for the location on the water. There is ample shade for seating outside but can feel a little cramped when it's busy. To get there you have to make a ridiculously sharp turn after the bridge or do a u-turn down the road.
Great atmosphere, but we were waiting for drinks for about 30 minutes on the second round. This ruined the whole meal and the conversation. Then, we waited about 15 minutes for a check before we left to pay directly by the cashier computer. Probably, not coming back. Totally overpriced food. Also, not sure about views. There are other places on Hudson that have much better views.
For the price, the food could have been better. I ordered the linguini with clams and shrimp and there was way too much oregano. The rum punch was too sweet for my liking. The view was great but I don't think we would go back
Food was good but a bit pricey for what you're getting. Menu was diverse but I was expecting more fish. Service was excellent. The place is very loud, and can be a but uncomfortable. When we went it was storming so we couldn't enjoy the patio. We will have to try on a nicer day.
While is very romantic to eat by the water facing the splendid Hudson River, the food here can be a bit iffy 🙃 at times... The service is nothing to write home about. I have eaten delicious and I have eaten not so great but friends keep inviting me to go and I keep going and having a nice time with my friends.
We went there for Sunday dinner, the place was packed inside, outside were some seats, but it seems just because it was really hot day, so it's better to make a reservation in advance. Food is okay, service was really slow, they kept apologizing about that. The view and the boat bar are the best things about this place!
Do not go to this establishment. A reservation was taken in a service dog was accepted a time of reservation. They seated us outside in the Sun. And then when I asked to move to the shade, they said, no, they need all their tables, they said the dog was too big, they made every excuse to get us out of there. I would not go to this establishment. Also, the view is of a parking lot in the back of a boat yard. So there's no real aviance outside I can't speak for the food they would not serve us.
We tried this place on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The service could be a lot better as we kept waiting to be served drinks and food. We wanted to sit outside since there were open tables and were told we needed reservations. Mind you, there were several tables available the whole time we were there but Ok. We had the steamers and they were really good. The Teriaki fries were not to our liking. The fish and chips were excellent. The seafood salad was not good at all. The dressing, the presentation etc... Not Good. Drinks were just ok. Like i mentioned, we kept having to chase our wait staff in order to get served.
My husband and I have always enjoyed the Boathouse but the past few times have been very poor. My seafood pasta dish, The Angry Val, has chicken in it now. I rather have an option to pay extra for just seafood and have it the original way. The most recent experience wasn't great either. I ordered a basic burger. The burgers and the toasted buns were always so good. Most places give you a burger on a brioche roll or hamburger bun. The Boathouse has a new thing. They put the burgers on a ciabatta roll. Ciabatta rolls are to tough for a burger. The burger comes out of the roll and lands in your hand as your canine teeth have to fight with the roll. I'm not sure who updated the menu's, but they are getting a thumbs down from us. Even the wonderful bread that they once had was different. It's such a shame.
The food was great. The drinks were superb. The service was horrible. We did not receive the attention that was deserved. We had to request a new waiter midway due to lack of attention. We didn’t ask for much, but did we receive minimal attention. We will not revisit this place again.
Very nice views of the Hudson. Food and service are average but overpriced. The building looks like it's about to collapse. Two drinks in plastic cups 3/4 full, $32. Obscene.
Service was great Food was ok Parking was AWFUL. Almost got hit trying to leave the parking lot. Only one lane to go in and out.
First time visiting this place, and it will be our last, high prices for average food, yea I get your paying for the view, but not much of a view … waitress should know what product she is selling for the restaurant, CLUELESS in that regard on several occasions. Asked for bread 3 times,, never came , asked for refills Waited for like 5 minutes,, restaurant was empty..
Website does not make clear that the outdoor boatyard area is not part of the restaurant but just a small food truck with limited choices. Stopped here on a long drive thinking tables were first come first served at this area only to find I had ended up at a food truck. Not happy about that - left to go elsewhere.
We tried the Boathouse's outdoor dining at the water edge. TLDR: It was terrible. The driveway was treacherous, parking barely adequate, the service bad, the ambiance and view very disappointing, prices high, though the food was good but not the drinks. At half the price it would deserve maybe 2+ stars. The entrance requires a hairpin turn from the ramp down that is really a 3 point turn. The narrow parking lot fills, overflow is alongside the narrow marina road, a long walk through the lot (and back). They said on the phone that they didn't have a reservation for the time we wanted (7PM Sunday) but they said to come and see if anything opened up. When we got there (past the treacherous entrance) we asked to sit in the empty area at the very end but were told it was closed. When we returned the designated 30 minutes later they were seating people in the area we'd preferred, but they never offered that to us despite our having asked for that first, and by the time those 30 minutes had passed it was full. The area is just the end of the asphalt parking lot, with cheap, smallish glass top metal tables for 4 and uncomfortable (and mismatched) metal chairs. The view is the unkempt boatyard next door through a chainlink fence, the rest of the parking lot immediately adjacent, the not very charming marina across a 20 foot canal, the extra dining area now opened at the very end of the lot, and a small view of the actual Tappan Zee and its western shore about 400 feet down the marina canal where it opens up past the marinas. Throughout the meal the cars coming and going in the parking lot shined their lights through the dimly lit dining area as they maneuvered into the tight spaces. Engine noise was part of the ambience, though the exhaust was luckily blowing the other way. The hostess turned the volume of the big DJ speaker up and down over conversation volume, even though she'd turned it down when we asked. When I asked about taking down the unnecessary, cheap beach umbrella because the sun was setting I was offered no help or where to put it so it wouldn't get in someone's way. The short menu on one side of a letter sized laminated card had entrees mostly about $25-32+. The waiter wasn't around and the hostess didn't know the description of some of the unconventionally named dishes. The next table's kids and a woman kept walking right past us without masks despite the signs and a 12-15 foot wide pathway, a few times just the kids running and screaming. After a loud ring around the rosie I asked her politely to keep them at least 6 feet distant. A few minutes later our waiter rushed up to admonish me not to talk with the other diners. The food was quite good, not quite worth ~$30. It was too dark to see it, and after about 5-10 minutes struggle the hostess brought a couple small candles barely adequate for me to remove the shells in my seafood. The pear martini, in a cheap disposable plastic cup like the other drinks, arrived (after 30 minutes of no water, that never came), was undrinkable for $12. The food was not at all worth the high prices for terrible service and very limited view.
I wanted to like this place cause I heard good reviews. But After waiting an hour for the food including our 1 year olds chicken fingers, I had to find the owner. Who although very nice and accommodating brought out The food which was pretty much inedible. She blamed the waiter for having too much to drink the night before, really? I will never go back nor recommend this place to anyone. We would’ve been better off at McDonald’s.
To start I have to say the food and drinks were great. However the waitress who served us on Monday took our order and never bothered to come back to the table to ask us how our food was or if we needed anything else. I understand it was busy since it was Labor Day but we did see her approach the other tables with all her attention. We tried to get her attention for the check twice but she didn’t seem to notice us luckily the host was able to get the check for us. This was a very unpleasant experience, we should have deserved the same attention as the rest of the customers everyone who walks in is spending money no one is eating for free to be ignored the way we were.
Overpriced & over-hyped. Food poisoning multiple times. Treated terribly by the staff. Very petty and vindictive, lots of negativity and bad vibes, more drama than a high school. 3 strikes, you're out
Overpriced, food was downright bad, staff were nice but inattentive despite an empty restaurant. Soup tasted like it was from a can. Interior was dingy and seemed unclean. Nicest room was the women's bathroom. Location was the only plus as the riverside views were very beautiful. However, I would not recommend going here. Save your money for some good food and take a walk by the river afterwards.
Came here with my husband and toddler- we were walk ins and expected there would be a wait. We were told the wait would be 45 mins to an hour for first available table. We waited for 2 hours. We were patient. We checked in twice. Each time (at 75 mins and again at 2hrs) “it’ll be about 15 mins” and when I got mad that we’d been repeatedly given bad information, Laurie the (seemingly) manager, told us that this is what we should expect showing up to a restaurant on a Saturday without a reservation. She also sat people who were behind us on the list ahead of us and said “oh well” when I pointed that out (at the 75 minute check-in, she told us there was 1 seating ahead of us and then sat 4 groups that were behind us). She then told me that I did not arrive around 6:30- which isn’t true- we paid for parking at 6:18 and walked straight over. We’ve been here plenty of times with no reservation- we’ve never been treated so poorly. It’s now almost 9pm, we’ve been here since 6:30, and we have to find somewhere else to eat dinner and feed our toddler. Had they been honest and told us that it was a 2 hr wait, we would have simply gone somewhere else with no hard feelings, and come back another time. Truly disgusted by this treatment, especially after acknowledging that she sat other people ahead of us who were behind us on the list. I hate bashing local places but this one genuinely deserves it after treating a patient family this way. I’m sure if I’d pitched a fit at the one hour mark, I wouldn’t be writing this review after the two hour mark. **editing to add- we ended up at 3 westerly down the street. They were super busy but took care of us when they heard what happened. My husband and kids food came out right away- mine was delayed by about 5 mins- not significant at all. Because of the teeny tiny delay in my food, they comped my food, and a round of drinks despite me asking them not to. There’s customer service, and then there’s not. I highly recommend 3 westerly
We were optimistic about having dinner at The Boathouse after reading recent reviews. We were very disappointed. The service was good , but there were small bugs on the window where we were eating inside next to us. The clam chowder tasted like it came out of a can with very little flavor and the shrimp were smaller than my local Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is rundown and needs updating.
