Full when we arrived, so we sat at the bar with a drink while waiting for our table. Service was excellent from the start — attentive without ever feeling rushed, and the pace of service was spot on. The food was outstanding, with clear attention to detail in every dish we saw, including those being served to other guests. Everything looked and tasted thoughtfully prepared. HIGHLIGHT: Spiced pulled pork bites on the small bites section of the menu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. There was a 13.5% service charge on the bill, but we were more than happy to pay it given the quality of both the food and the service.

Celebrated my birthday dinner tonight with my bf, the steak, oysters, tomato soup and sticky toffee pudding was amazing! Our server Emily was welcoming and very friendly🫶🏼!! Atmosphere was nice with dim lights and piano, thank you:) 💕

We had an incredible lunch in Oxford today — everything was perfect from start to finish. The food was absolutely divine: we shared a beautifully prepared tartare, a comforting soup, tender lamb chops, and the fish catch of the day, which was fresh and full of flavor. What truly made the experience exceptional was our waitress, Brigitte. She was so helpful, kind, and attentive throughout. Her warm personality really stood out, and she even took the time to recommend some lovely spots to visit around Oxford. Exceptional service and outstanding food — we’ll definitely be coming back!

Our waitress Vanessa was an absolute star, full of character took good care of us, gave splendid recommendations. Overall her energy is just what you need when coming to a place like this. Will also say she’s a hard worker it looked very busy for a Wednesday afternoon but she was everywhere and didn’t let her character fall, while having to deal with a lot of different tables.

I really really like Quod, everything was top drawer, first of all our waitress was personable and made us feel extremely welcome. The food was absolutely amazing, I had a rump steak, with fries, my girlfriend had a rabbit and bacon roulade, we were both extremely happy, portion size was good. For dessert, I had the cheesecake and let me tell you, I am a cheesecake enthusiast, I am not overselling saying that it's the best I have ever had. It was luxurious, without being too sweet, the top of the cheesecake was a bit like a Crème Brûlée, my compliments to whomever made that. We had a window table, with a beautiful view of a church. I like Oxford a lot, I would like to visit Quod again, recommended.

I made a reservation at Quod yesterday for my son’s birthday, and we had a wonderful evening. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared—my compliments to the chefs. My brother ordered the baby chicken and absolutely loved it. Four of us had the seabass, which was perfectly cooked and served with fresh vegetables. My son and my sibling ordered the chicken tikka masala; the sauce, consistency, and flavor balance were excellent. We also had the salmon ceviche as a starter—very fresh with a delightful sauce. All the other dishes were equally impressive. For my five-year-old nephew, we ordered from the kids’ menu. He received a lovely plate with perfectly cooked chicken, broccoli, carrots, and fries, and he really enjoyed it. We also ordered a pizza for him, and the chef’s touch with butter surprised us in the best way—it was delicious. In short, as a family of 10, we felt completely at home. The service team, the manager on duty, and all the friendly staff made our evening special. A big thank you to the kitchen team and the entire Quod staff for giving us such a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

Very comfortable and professional restaurant with high standards and an interesting menu - a cosy place in a chilly night, although it can get a bit noisy. Portions are very generous and service is attentive - they know their customers and deliver. 13.5% service charge was higher than expected - still getting used to this in the UK.

First time visiting Oxford from Pakistan and It was an absolutely beautiful atmosphere at Quod for lovely food. Great food with great service. We had seabas fish and Salmon. Never had such a lovely lunch in a decade . I will highly recommend this classic place to enjoy a delicious meal.

I took two friends for a meal to celebrate their birthdays and they both said it was the best meal they had had in a long while. The food was delicious, well cooked and presented. The service was friendly and very efficient. Finally the atmosphere was very pleasant and allowed for a convivial evening to be had. Housed in a historic building it was nice to see some original features included in the decor. We will certainly be back and would definitely like to try the terrace next time. Well done to all and many thanks for making the evening so memorable

Love this place, never had a bad meal here. Fresh oysters yum, the celeriac soup is my favourite, red mullet was lovely too. No room for dessert. Piano music on a Sunday evening enhances the lovely atmosphere. Staff always go the extra mile too. Definitely recommend.

My dining experience at Quod Restaurant in Oxford left me utterly impressed and satisfied. Located in the heart of the city, Quod offers an exceptional culinary journey coupled with a delightful ambiance that ensures a memorable evening. One of the most remarkable aspects of my visit was the food itself. From the succulent seafood starters to the perfectly cooked mains, every bite was a testament to the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The ambiance of Quod further enhances the dining experience. The restaurant's elegant interior is tastefully decorated, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. Soft lighting and comfortable seating arrangements contribute to a relaxed and intimate setting. Despite not having made a reservation, my colleagues and I were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. The staff was courteous and attentive throughout the evening, ensuring that we had everything we needed to fully enjoy our dining experience. Overall, the restaurant is highly recommended.

Quod last night was a real buzzy place. We came to Oxford to meet with some friends and perfect place to have a meal. Friendly servers and food was wholesome. A very good trip for a good meal with family and friends. The scallops and prawn gratin was exceptional as was my tagliatelle with pork. Decent size portions too. The toilets were clean as well which is always a good sign.

Great indoor and outdoor space, with lovely set menu and a la carte choices. The outside terrace has shade - perfect setting imo. Service was good (13.5% service charge). Wine list was very good too. Overall a really nice place to have lunch and we will be back.

My recent visit to Quod Restaurant & Bar in Oxford was an exquisite culinary experience that beautifully combined sophistication with a relaxed atmosphere. Food: To start, I enjoyed a beautifully presented pate, served with toasted bread and a small side of greens. The pate was rich and creamy with a velvety texture, perfectly balanced by the crispiness of the toasted bread. The accompanying chutney added a delightful sweetness that enhanced the flavors of the dish. For the main course, I opted for the steak and fries. The steak was tender and cooked to a perfect medium-rare, just as I had requested. Each bite was full of flavor, and the meat was juicy and succulent. The fries were golden and crisp, providing a satisfying crunch with every bite. The peppercorn sauce served on the side added a lovely, warming spice that complemented the steak beautifully. The small side salad was fresh and added a nice touch of lightness to the dish. Service: The service at Quod was impeccable. The staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. They were quick to accommodate my requests and provided service with a genuine smile, making me feel welcomed and valued. Atmosphere: The restaurant’s setting is both stylish and comfortable, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely meal. The outdoor seating area is charming and allows for a lovely view of the bustling streets of Oxford, while still feeling like a private retreat. Overall: Quod Restaurant & Bar is a gem in the heart of Oxford. The combination of excellent food, attentive service, and a delightful atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a refined yet relaxed dining experience.

Amazing food and atmosphere! Enjoyed our lunch here after a visit to the campus and the whole meal, from starter to dessert, was such a pleasure! Had one of the best fish and chips I have ever had and would highly recommend this place!

Dined here on a Sunday evening and it was perfect. The attention to detail was everything you expect for a restrauent and more! Beautiful interior and atmosphere. Service was very good and warmly. Food was even better. Very tasty main dishes, full of flavour and taste. Very enjoyable experience, will be going there when visiting oxford.

Celebrated my birthday here and they brought me a little surprise at the end. Love the atmosphere, so beautiful, staff was very friendly and food was very nice… maybe the pasta and risotto were the weakest dishes but the duck, fish and steak were very nice. Will come back and I would recommend

Popped in for an early dinner before the theatre. We were attracted in by how pretty the place was and weren't disappointed by the food and service which were both excellent. Not the most exciting menu on the face of it but everything was well presented and delicious.

Delicious food! Went here in 2024, after 5 years. Surprisingly, I liked the ricotta pizza the most, even though it wasn't neapolitan dough pizza. As for the meats, I preferred pork, duck was good, but rather chewy. I was in Oxford 5 years ago, 2019, and I remember visiting Quad, and I loved the panna cotta here 😍

I have not eaten dinner here, but have had breakfast on two occasions and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Poached Eggs, Cornish Crab and Avocado is exceptional. Highly recommend this place for a great breakfast

Sunday Roast is to die for. The basil daiquiri is one of the best drinks I’ve ever had and I’m not a big drinker. Luca, my waiter was so nice and had great recommendations. I originally booked a different Sunday roast spot but this place was recommended to me because of the cute outdoor area. I was supposed to sit inside but when I asked for an outdoor table they made it happen even though it was booked up. All the meat is local which I love. 10/10 would recommended.

Wonderful hotel restaurant in Oxford with full bar and table seating. Outdoor seating is also available though not available in winter. Fresh salads, soups, warm bread and mains they offer local fish and chips from time to time. Be sure to check board for their specials.

We came in last night to the restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday, we had a fantastic meal of three courses. We also have to say our waitress Kitty was fantastic, she was very attentive and looked after us superbly and was great to chat to throughout the night. Thanks very much to the full team and Kitty, look forward to our next visit.

Great food - simple, straightforward but with great ingredients. Got charged for bread and although tequila shots were overpriced (10 pounds each!), the evening experience was worth it. Brilliant fresh oysters and cabernet blanc and mains. Can't complain. Overall dinner on the high end side but good if you are looking to enjoy. Don't sit near front door unless you like the chill.

Although only an occasional visitor to the Quod, it has been a special place for my family because of its atmosphere (sometimes a little noisy but always enjoyable), excellent menu and perfect fabric (from artwork to toilets). In 2023, I visited for a coffee en route home from The Eye Hospital having experienced a TIA/stroke from which I recovered within 2 months. The Quod provided solace for a few minutes. I enjoy returning for the solace and perfection.

I came here for my birthday. The waiters were incredibly professional and friendly, and even brought me a complimentary birthday dessert. The food was beautifully presented and my bean and aubergine had a lovely blend of flavours. Alongside this, the walls are covered in excellent and varied artworks, and the whole restaurant just has a lovely ambience and atmosphere.

In a city where history presses in from every cobbled street, Quod makes a confident case for the classic brasserie experience. It’s a pleasant spot for lunch right in the heart of Oxford—buzzy without being frantic, polished without feeling stiff. The real draw is the set menu, which offers noticeably better value and plays to the kitchen’s strengths with simple, well-executed dishes. Step outside that menu, though, and the pricing starts to feel ambitious for what arrives on the plate. Enjoyable, certainly, but at full price it leans more towards convenience and location than culinary generosity.

We sat on the terrace under the big umbrellas with a light breeze. This began a wonderful visit with friends. It was busy but the service was still mostly timely and attentive. The food on offer, including the set menu, was extensive. £128 per couple including wine and service charge Gluten-free options were many.

A Truly Delightful Experience at Quod Our visit to Quod was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we stepped inside, we were struck by its beauty and vibrant ambiance. The decor is elegant yet welcoming, and the warm, cozy lighting created an inviting atmosphere that made us feel instantly at home. The food was equally impressive, with every dish perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a testament to the kitchen’s dedication to quality and creativity. What truly made our experience memorable, however, was the exceptional service we received. Taniya, our server, was an absolute gem. Her warm smile and willingness to help at every turn made us feel truly cared for. She was attentive, kind, and added a personal touch to our evening. Quod is a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a vibrant setting, delicious food, and outstanding service. It’s a true gem, and we can’t wait to return!

We had breakfast here and the food was good and the smoothies are ready made so they arrive very fast. The green smoothie was delicious but very small however and not good value for the £8 cost. Service staff not very friendly or attentive. Overall the cost is very high for the standard of service and quality.

Visited Quod on a damp Saturday afternoon. It was wet and cold outside so tumbled into Quod of the off chance they had a table. When we went in there were spaces in the restaurant, but it took 10-15 minutes of so to get us to a table. If there hadn't been spaces I wouldn't have mentioned this. When we did get a seat the service was polite and attentive and reasonably quick. Again there was a bit of a wait for the food but the wait was worth it as the food was very nice. The atmosphere was good with a lively but not too nopisy hubub. Would definetly visit again. Pricing wasnt bad for somewhere like Oxford which is going to be pricey anyway. Presentation and quality was excellent

The food was really excellent. I had wonderful Lemon Sole and the rest of the table had great dishes too including ‘the best burger I’ve had in ages’ coming from someone who eats a lot of burgers. The service was a fraction slower and less attentive than perfection although very friendly. The surroundings are very classy and have a luxurious feel.

Dec 2025 update: Went for afternoon tea today. Had booked a table for 2pm via Open Table. Got a call from the restaurant on the day of our visit to let us know that afternoon tea was not served before 3pm. By sheer luck I had mentioned our intention to order afternoon tea on the free text box on the reservation, otherwise we would have turned up and not been able to order. The reservation facility doesn't allow you to select if you want breakfast, lunch, dinner or indeed afternoon tea... I did mention this to the member of staff who called me. Our reservation was changed to 3pm, so glad that disaster was avoided. Again today the place was really busy and super noisy! Fortunately the party of 10 people next to us left fairly soon after we arrived. We ordered the graduation afternoon tea (the one with a glass of champagne) and we had our drinks quite quickly. The food took a while to arrive however. I suspect it was because the place was busy. When the food eventually arrived we had no explanation of what the sandwiches were, nor what the desert cakes/treats were. It would have been a nice touch if the waitress had just explained what were in the sandwiches, as it doesn't say on the menu. The sandwiches were lovely all the same, as were the scones. We had to send the clotted cream back as it was really dried out and looked really unpleasant. We quickly had replacements, but it also seemed a bit dried out. We did not raise it further with the staff as we didn't want it to take away from our day out. The cakes/treats were all super sweet and the chocolate very claggy. I suspect it was as intended, but it was all way too sweet for me. We both had flat white coffee with our dishes and the coffee was lovely. All in all a good experience, despite a few misshits. At £43 per person it is not cheap and suspect there are superb alternatives available in Oxford for less. Quod adds an eye watering 13.5% service charge on top. I know it is optional, but realistically noone asks for it to be removed I suspect... March 2025 review: One of our go-to places for special occasions. This time a birthday celebration. It is not cheap...you easily end up spending £100 per person. Normally they would bring a small cake with a candle or something nice to acknowledge a special occasion, but this time they forgot even though I'd mentioned it when I made the reservation. The oysters were really nice and so was the fillet of beef. Never disappointed with the food here. For a wednesday evening it was really noisy this time around and it was difficult to hear eachother. The waitress seemed a bit eager and it felt a little bit rushed this time around. We will still be back though.

The service left much to be desired. Despite the delicious food, the slow service marred our overall experience. It took an unusually long time for our orders to be taken and for the food to arrive. Furthermore, when my friend politely requested the service charge to be removed from the bill, the server responded with noticeable passive aggression, which was disappointing and unprofessional. While Quod excels in food and atmosphere, significant improvements are needed in service efficiency and staff attitude to make it a top dining destination.

best fillet i’ve ever had, gorgeous and atmosphere lives up to its name. very impressed. wonderful selection of wines and starters were all on point. young lady serving us seemed under confident, hesitant and lacked knowledge of the menus unfortunately but would defo recommend and will be eating here again

I feel like I’ve been to this place so many times before. You walk in to a beautiful restaurant, with its nice setting that breadths class. But the further into the journey you go, you get the feeling it’s just a mirage. To start with, the service we had on the night was the very bare minimum. They felt a bit disengaged and weren’t very attentive. I would expect a little bit more from a place like this. As for the food, it’s ok. It doesn’t taste bad in anyway but I would expect a bit more at this price point. Most disappointing was the steak. I was there with a group of friends, where several of us had steaks for mains. We all ordered different preparations for it (from medium to rare). Cutting them up at the same time, it was impossible to tell which one was suppose to be which. Perhaps a minor details for some, but if you’re at a place where they ask you how you want it: I also hope to get it. All in all, it’s not a terrible experience. But I have to say, leaving the restaurant after 2.5h, I walked out with a lighter wallet and with a slight feeling of disappointment. - Value for money? No - Worth a detour? No - Best for (occasion)? Corporate dinner - Would I go back? Unlikely

I had the curry and this was very nice. I had the chocolate tart for dessert and the pastry was dry and hard. The service was poor, the person doing the greeting at the door was quite sharp and not very friendly on arrival. Our waitress could speak very little English so we couldn't ask any questions about the food or drink. It was also incredibly loud as you are all seated in one room with few soft furnishings.

C
Carlos JD

I’ve have somewhat mixed feelings about our dining experience here. On the positive side, the atmosphere was lovely, the service was attentive, and most of the food was actually quite good. The only real letdown was my main course—the fillet steak. It hadn’t been rested properly and came out pre-sliced, which left it drier and a bit chewier than it should have been. I still ate it, and to their credit, the management did offer to refund our drinks, a gesture which I appreciated. That said, for a restaurant at this level, I expected the meat to be cooked and rested with more care. It didn’t ruin the evening, but if the chefs had taken a little more attention to detail in preparing meat (which should have been the star of the show), it could have been a fantastic experience.

This restaurant could really be fab. Allied to the Hotel it serves up hotel food. Get a great chef in and provide some really great food. Bog standard food and wine. Popularity doesn't mean good. Best on the menu, oysters. I had lamb cutlets. 3 small almost tasteless, not succulent, a cup of fries and small salad £33. Wouldn't have minded if it was in fact good. Didn't even bother to take pics.

We visited Quod restaurant on the High Street for afternoon tea yesterday, 30 Jan 2026, at 5 p.m., along with my sister and brother-in-law, who are of Indian descent. Upon arrival, the hostess initially couldn’t find our booking, even though we were just 13 minutes early. After some confusion, we were eventually seated. We requested a better table, which they provided. Once seated, the waitress was impatient and borderline rude, especially when we inquired about vegetarian options. She often cut off our questions and made dismissive comments. The food itself was average: the sandwiches were decent but not memorably delicious though the desserts leaned overly sweet. The teas were surprisingly mediocre for a place like Quod. Rose tea was missing from the choices. Most disappointing were the scones, which were dry and lacked moisture. Definitely not fresh! Overall, the experience fell well below expectations, particularly in terms of service. It’s a shame, as we had hoped for a higher standard, and I’m quite certain we won’t be returning. Thanks to the manager who kindly took our photos and helped make memories with my family.

We visited this place yesterday and tried the buffalo mozzarella and the margherita pizza. Unfortunately, the taste was below average and did not meet our expectations, especially considering the very high prices. The only positives were the nice ambience and the high-quality service. Overall, I don’t think it’s a place I would visit again.
