Been coming here for almost a decade and it never disappoints!
Great place for breakfast and amazing burger
The food was really good and the service was too
Awesome sandwiches and shakes to die for
Wonderful food. Excellent prices. Friendly staff. Great Ice cream!!
delicious burgers, so many great types of shakes, try the oreo cookies!
Best in town, great service great food great shakes and malts. Home cooking with heart.
Walk by drive by all the time and get stopped. Today got the banana split. Yum yum. Friendly staff
Great burgers and sandwiches. Make sure you get a milkshake too
A true hidden gem. Every item on the entire menu is good. Give it a shot at lunch!
Good sized proportion of hot fudge sundae. Very good, and very filling.
Great place where the milkshakes are very delicious and I recommend the chipotle sandwich
Best pastrami sandwich ever.
My last meal would probably be a bacon avocado cheeseburger from here. Love.
Retro dining. Very fast and great food. Lovely location
Really good burger. Friendly service. Good value.
Great selection of sandwiches. Excellent shakes.
this is the BEST place for simple, delicious food and REAL OLD FASHIONED MILKSHAKES! yum!
Love the sandwich and the people who work there are very friendly.
An authentic old-school diner. Great chocolate malts.
Kind lady works there. She made the best malt for me.
Great place for sandwiches and milk shakes
Best hidden gem ever....yummy burgers...
Old fashioned coffee shop, try their hand good milkshakes
Very nostalgic, heart-warming place with great sandwiches and fabulous ice cream! (Had the Turkey sandwich and chocolate ice cream). Definitely recommend
I really liked great sandwich and milkshake , great services and my order was fast, this place was very clean and food was not grease at all high recomended for sandwich time and was not to expensed thank you for a delicious meatloaf sandwich today
Great diner fare, reasonable prices and a very friendly staff. Definitely spring for a milkshake while you're there and bring quarters for the jukebox!
Great vintage diner type atmosphere in upscale Palo Alto. Still a gem after all these years. Get a milkshake.
Very friendly staff and hearty sandwiches. Moderately priced for the area. I suggest grabbing a shake with your 'which.
Random find on the way to a jobsite . Got the Emma favorite sandwich. It was great definitely hard to find spots like this now days .
This is a place where I always know I can get great service and fresh, tasty food. Haven't stopped by for a couple of years but still great!
Great spot for classic burgers and ice cream fare. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Great hot dogs, not many places get a good toast on the dog and the bun, but this place does.
Downtown Palo Alto's best lunch spot for over 50 years. The sandwiches are all good but I recommend the Bada Bing.
Excellent sandwiches and burgers here for a reasonable price and extremely high quality. This beats out most places in town for an affordable sandwich (read: not Ike’s)
Great place for a quick bite. Our office is just around the corner so we are lucky that we have such a convenient and affordable lunch option in Downtown Palo Alto
We always go here at least once when we visit Palo Alto. Breakfast is always excellent. Their cinnamon rolls are extra special. At lunch their milkshakes are the best. Three generations in my family continue to love eating at the Penninsula Creamery
I end up stopping here about once a year or so and the food is always good. This trip I had a chocolate malt and patty melt. Both were A+++ and the service was stellar as always. Always a great place to eat in and also good for food to go!!!
Easy to navigate to, easy parking, found space in the parking lot. Plenty of indoor seating. Friendly place, fantastic food, delicious cream! We'll definitely be back!
I love their ice cream. I go there once a week to take something with me to being home. Also nice service and atmosphere.
Best place to grab a great sandwich, burger, Chili, milk shake, ice cream etc. I love the patty melt it's simple and amazing. Butter toasted sourdough, American cheese, grilled onions and a perfect burger. Stop by and you won't be disappointed.
The sandwiches here are AMAZING. There's a shaded outdoor seating area just across the street where you will also find some of the old milk delivery trucks when this place was still a creamery. In fact, if you don't little digging there's a lot of interesting history tied to this place and the history of downtown Palo Alto.
great spot. On the sweet side, peppermint shake w added chocolate syrup is astoundingly good.
Milkshakes. You really don't need to get anything else. I love the chocolate milkshake with added banana or the coffee-flavored one. They are mostly gluten-free, I think. Oh the strawberry one is excellent, too. You can buy little bags of tokens as a gift for friends that are fans of the milkshakes. I wish I was still running so that I could have one every week.
Not fancy, but very authentic small town creamery/diner. One of the best no frills burgers to be had in the SF Bay Area. All sandwiches are great and the shakes soothe the soul.
The most creamy ice cream we’ve ever had. Staff are super friendly too. The burgers and sandwiches are great. We’ve never had breakfast.
Great people, wonderful food. Any of the specialty sandwiches are excellent and the same goes for the burgers. I have yet to try their ice cream but if it is on par with what I have tried so far 😻
I love their sandwiches & milkshakes, if you want to experience that feeling of "old good Palo Alto" this is your place to go, give it a try.
We ordered their ice-creams. They were fresh and tasted excellent. Recommend strawberry. Mango was tasting like a cross with orange. It is also not a pure ice-cream and feels more like a sorbet.
This place is a hold-over from another era: think hamburger (topped with avocado), served with a root beer float. Nothing fancy. Just good food and reasonably fast service. What's not to like!
Great place! Quick and simple. Breakfast and lunch, sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs. Seems a little overpriced but honestly it fits the area. Great milkshakes here too!
The single cone comes with 2 scoops while the double cone comes with 4. I got the caramel cold brew flavor in a single cone, which was pretty sweet but the bits of chocolate are bittersweet so it somewhat balances out. I’d only get it if you’re okay with a sweeter flavor. It’s a very cute place!
The food here was so yummy!! Classic American diner with a great 1950s atmosphere. The food was very simple but tasted so good 😊 I do recommend reserving before going because the place seems to be very packed Overall, i really loved this place 🫰
My husband's and my 1st time. Burgers were fantastic, wish they had fries but we got a bag of chips and some Mac salad. Mint chocolate shake and my husband Chocolate.
The food was so good! I got Gus’ scramble. It was so fresh and tons of food. Our party had pancakes as well and they were fluffy. The staff was so friendly! Cute, retro vibe.
Great ice-creams and nice service. Single cone means two big scoops - so generous!
Great place to grab burgers and sandwiches. Great shakes made from hard ice cream - nice variety of flavors.

I was going to take a picture of the wonderful bacon cheeseburger, but I was so excited when I got it, that I forgot to take a picture. It was awesome, like Grandma made. Friendly service made it even more perfect.
This breakfast spot is easily the most underrated spot in Palo Alto. It is a perfect taste of home where the staff are humble and treat you so kindly. You’ll know what I mean when you go. Show up, grab the paper and coffee and enjoy a homemade meal. The food is spectacular and made thoughtfully. I love this creamery 1000x more than any fanciful spot nearby. Eulalia who works there is generous and is the kind of person who remembers your order. Try Jaimes scramble for breakfast and the Lalas sandwich for lunch.
Just go, it's great. Burgers are delicious and they have a classic turkey club, my favorite. No aioli, no fancy thick bread, no extra BS, just a perfect classic club sandwich. The ice-cream is amazing.
Great place to grab a burger, sandwich, breakfast, to eat there or go. Very reasonable prices. My burger was a generous size. The toasted cheese had lots of bread, cheese, options. Great selection of hard ice cream - for scoops or shakes.
Basic ice cream, great service. Prices are very reasonable on food, so definitely coming back for that.
My husband and I came on a Thursday morning at 9am. There were a couple other customers sitting in the store, but not too busy. Even though it is a creamery they have a good variety of breakfast options served until 11am. We went with Gus’ scramble which is eggs, jalapeño, bacon, cheese, mushrooms, onion and avocado with choice of bread for toast which was toasted and spread with butter. The scramble was delicious; the jalapeños added a nice touch. The scramble was very flavorful, with the bacon, onion and avocado mixture adding to the taste. It tasted homey. The overall feel of the place is diner vibes. Coffee is just a huge jug of brewed coffee that you self serve from. Milk and half and half is in the mini fridge next to it, along with sugar on the table. Food/ service was reasonable/relatively quick
I love their breakfast sandwiches, especially the bacon. The bacon is very crispy. They always get the order right for us although sometimes you have to wait a couple minutes to get service, as they are usually pretty busy. My daughter and her dad go there a lot for lunch. She gets a plain grilled turkey on grilled sourdough. The staff are very nice, particularly Lala. We even found our favorite babysitter at the Creamery! The ice cream is good to, although there aren’t any vegan options.
Delicious, affordable and a historical landmark in Palo Alto. Amazing sandwiches and the most affordable ice cream and milkshakes in the Bay Area.
Very casual local gem 💎 Shakes are fantastic 🤩

Fun, old-timey diner style food.
Great sandwiches and pleasant staff.
Love their milkshakes, hamburgers, and pies.
Some sandwiches are better than others. Chicken was mediocre; the Reuben was excellent.
Only thing they were missing was french fries. Great place.
Classic dinner. I have only had breakfast there - it was solid.
Great burger, awesome old school atmosphere.
Fantastic comfort food. Rueben and tuna melt along with a milkshake....
My 101 year old cousin brought me to Peninsula Creamery and they make Great thick milkshakes in Palo Alto.
Best milkshake in the bay area. I admit that I overvalued this because I'm on a liquid diet, but their shakes have become a staple. Very creamy, and lots of it.
Good food, good price. No fries and no high chairs. Highly recommend the milkshake!
A good place to bring out-of-towners. Kind of expensive and slow, with inconsistent quality, but that didn't stop me from having lunch here almsot every day for a year. Their key lime pie is AWWWESOME.
Great service, sandwiches are a little underwhelming, but good for the price.
I am back in the Bay Area visiting my sons and am hoping to get to the Creamery during my visit. Was sorry to learn that the Stanford Mall location is gone. Used to love the milkshakes and was interested in reading the reviews about the good food and reasonable prices. Since I have moved away I am struck by a reviewer calling a milkshake that costs over $6 reasonable ??? Anyway . . I'll follow up if I manage to park in Palo Alto and get a seat at the counter. Happy Holidays.
I don't really eat ice cream, but I come here for a burger sometimes. This seems to be one of the last places on the peninsula where you can get an east bay style independent burger joint. The patties are pretty big, the girl said they were third pound, I believe it. You can't get fries here, but I guess it's more of an ice cream shop and deli than anything.
Very great milkshakes with old-fashioned steel cup while blending. If you come for breakfast, their choices are not as many as Palo Alto Creamery and they don't have dessert to serve. The hours are short. However, they are kind of tech-savvy, you can use OrderAhead for pickup or delivery.
This place is the American diner classic. Comfort food is the main stable on menu. Burgers w/ fries are the favorite. Try the turkey chili. The deserts are big with flavors and portion. $$
Sort of defines traditional sandwich/ burger/shakes and fries comfort food. Basic, uncomplicated and affordable. Menu with a sense of humor minus cutesy/ironic. Very quick service on most items. Great value for money and a good nosh.
A neighborhood sandwich shop that delivers a great sandwich and famous milkshakes that may even take you back to the days when Peninsula Creamery delivered fresh milk and dairy to South Bay doorsteps. Order and pay at the counter then find a seat and listen for your order to be called. Be aware that they do not serve fries here, but do have a rack of chips to select from.

Variety of sandwiches for lunch but a little pricey
Neat little very casual classic 50's diner. Don't think health food here.
Not sure why this place is still called a creamery. They don't have Ice cream. But the breakfast omlettes are pretty good. But good very for a quick bite.
I was only here for breakfast. I had the chorizo scramble which was pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary breakfast place(denny's, ihop) maybe I'll come back for lunch and try a burger next time.
Enormous milkshakes. They're open late, and the french fries and shakes are fantastic late at night. The entrees/burgers meals weren't memorably good or bad.
My burger was average. The ice cream is from Oregon, and it’s good but not remarkable. (Try Marianne’s in Santa Cruz instead or Salt N Straw nearby.) I think people come because downtown Palo Alto is very expensive, and you can still find an affordable meal at the diner-style setting here. (March 2019)
Brusk no nonsense service. Mediocre sandwich plonked down. No chips or pickle or anything. Its too bad because in the hands of a competent manager this place could be awesome. Instead, just meh.
Used to love this place. Now, not so much. First time I tried to go recently it was so crowded and the wait was so long, we gave up and left. Tried again on another day and finally got a seat. Everyone raves about the milkshakes but I ordered a chocolate one and it was made with vanilla ice cream, but with chocolate sauce in it. Did not taste chocolately at all. Tasted vanilla. Why not make it with chocolate ice cream?? A disappointment for $6.35. No wait staff bothered to ask how we were enjoying our meal. Food was fine but unremarkable. Two sandwiches and two shakes were about $36 before tip. Really? For diner food? In a town surrounded by tons of good places to eat? The wait staff wears shirts that say "fuhgetaboutit"on the back. I think I will.
This place has been around a long time and has seen many iterations. In the past, this was a great spot and I expect it will be so again. The food was not great. I don’t feel like they do anything well. We had the BLT that was fit to break a tooth on. The bacon the way it was served was like biting into a ceramic plate. We also had a cheeseburger which was just okay. The weirdest part were these two guys who I guess were the owners? The were dressed kind of sloppy and not in the uniforms the rest of the staff were in. So it was kind of creepy to have them jumping into patrons personal space (one of them gave me a sweaty hug). I had no idea who these guys were so it was off putting. All would have been okay if the food was good. But it wasn’t.

Horrible service. This place is supposed to close at 5pm, I arrived at 4:51 and the door was locked. Went back to my car and saw someone inside so I tried to get served. Nope, the only thing I got was ignored. Fricking yuppies in this town.
We waited an uncalled for amount of time to have some water, to give our orders and there was only 5 tables in the entire place being occupied. We were treated a lil different than the rest of the tables, assuming they know us based on maybe how we were dressed and how we looked(just regular clothes). They rushed us even though their service was slow and gave us a milkshake that was literally water consistent. Like seriously. Hope you up your customer service.
Haven't been to this Traditional Greasy Spoon in a very long time used to have really good Burgers today I ordered a Togo order. I got the Atomic Burger which is more of a Pathetic Burger suppose to be Spicy 🔥 by the name 1 patty melted cheese, around 1/4 table spoon of a Pico De Gallo, cheap buns came with Fries. Got Texas meat Chilli in a bowl which was with little chunks of meat with sour cream thrown on. Maybe it's more of a breakfast/brunch eatery I support local small businesses but this place flat out sux don't waste time,$$$ here at least for a Burger 🍔.
Certified mid sandwich. The man who is presumably the owner has a dismissive attitude who acts like he's doing you a favor by serving up overpriced meat between two pieces of bread. Do yourself a favor and go to Ikes for your sandwich fix. Honestly I would rather eat nothing than eat here.
